As Scotland gets battered by another storm, the football tries its best to continue on regardless - with mixed results in the KDM Evolution Trophy... or the Scottish Challenge Cup once you blow away the sponsorship.Josh hosts the latest podcast, and he's joined by Charlie, Daris, Graeme and Krys to chat not only about the weather related stories from the midweek cup fixtures, but also to look back on the weekend's action. The top of the table clash at Celtic Park went the way of the visitors, so questions are once again asked as to whether Hearts can end the Glasgow stranglehold on the title as well as the far more important question of whether or not the wind can blow away wee magnets. How many teams are in this title race anyway? Two? Three? Four? Five? The next few weeks will no doubt breeze through and make the picture a little clearer. The guys also touch on the World Cup draw once more, looking in detail at Scotland chances of finally getting out of the group stage at the ninth time of asking, and just how much more it might cost the Tartan Army to stay on in an already eyewateringly expensive trip to North America. Those costs have really taken the wind out of the sails of some of us.Thanks as always for listening. In this episode of Casual Chats, Arun looks back at one of the movies from his childhood he grew up watching which is the 1985 animated film Rainbow Brite and the Star Stealer based on the 1984 Hallmark cards and animated series. Rainbow Brite is trying to bring spring all over the world, but her rainbow powers aren't working. It turns out that an evil princess is attempting to steal a planet sized diamond called Spectra to keep it for herself. Together with a boy named Krys and his robotic horse On-X, Rainbow Brite travels to the princess' palace to prevent her from stealing Spectra. When the film premiered in theaters, it made $4.9 million dollars in the box office with mixed to negative reviews from critics. Today, Rainbow Brite is seen as a forgotten part of 1980s pop culture that has been overshadowed by its contemporaries. How well does the film hold up 40 years later?

In this episode, John and Krys are joined by author Steven Lawther to discuss his latest book, "We Led in Munich: the Unlikely Adventures of Raith Rovers in Europe".The book is effectively a follow up to Steven's "Unthinkable: Raith Rovers Improbably Journey from the Bottom of Scottish Football" in which Raith Rovers went on to win the League Cup in November 1994 and thus qualify for Europe.Starting off discussing the book itself, and the upcoming book launch event at Waterstones Kirkcaldy branch, chat inevitably turns to a good old fashioned throwback. The guys reflect on the League Cup run, culminating in penalty shootout success in the final at Ibrox.Back in the good old days, a League Cup win came with a European spot so Raith drew the short straw - twice - with some awkward trips north before winning the golden ticket to Germany. Steven takes us through his own experiences of that European run, and Krys even reflects on his own oddly similar Munich experiences eight years later. The book itself is out on Monday, so be sure to check it out as well as Steven's other books which also include "Arrival: How Scotland's Women Took Their Place on the World Stage and Inspired a Generation", a look at SWNT's 2019 World Cup finals experience.https://linktr.ee/SFFPODCASTThanks for listening and make sure to like, subscribe and follow on our social media outlets, as well as joining us on our Discord.Discord - Scottish Football ForumsBluesky - @sffpodcast.bsky.socialTwitter/X - @sffpodcastInstagram - sffpodcast TikTok - @sffpodcastFacebook - Scottish Football ForumsMastodon - @sffpodcast@mastodon.scotEmail - scottishfootballforumspodcast@gmail.com

Send us a textTori leads off with King's Chapel Burying Grounds. This is the oldest cemetery in Boston and has some disturbing tales that go along with it. Krys regales us with the Matamoros Cult killings in the late 80's. This was a jurisdictional nightmare due to this being on the border between the US and Mexico. This cult was present and caused all sorts of chaos in Mexico in the 80s. This cult mixed both drug running and religious belief. The head of this cult was bribing the authorities to look the other way for the drug running and then told his followers that he was making them invisible. As you can imagine, this ended badly. Krys tells us of the Red Onion Saloon in Alaska. This is still standing in Skagway to this day. This saloon is still in operation at this point but the brothel part of the business is now a museum. Not shocking…it's haunted. Everyone loves a well-behaved dog. If you want one (or maybe yours needs a tune-up), AmericanK9 has you covered. Today we speak with Krys Ruth, a long-time dog trainer (fun fact, she trained the first ever bed bug sniffing dog) who trains dogs on a beautiful farm in Davidsonville. From chihuahuas to Irish wolfhounds, she and her team are more behaviorist than trainer as they read each dog's personality and figure out their touchpoints. In addition, she is a breeder of labs who are mostly used for service work--military, law enforcement, and psychological. We learned about some of the amazing things animals can do to help humans, and it all begins with a solid foundation of training. American K9 even has the Sniffspot--a private dog park just for you and your pooch (and maybe a few selected friends). Krys is not a fan of public dog parks--listen and see why! If you are looking to get a new puppy, or maybe your dog could use a refresher, or maybe you know someone who might need assistance from a service animal-- here's your sign (as Bill Engvall might say)! Have a listen! LINKS: AmericanK9 (Website) AmericanK9 (Facebook) AmericanK9 (Instagram)

Larry is joined by actress Krys Marshall to talk about the season 2 release of her Hulu show ‘Paradise' and they begin their conversation by examining Marshall's upbringing and the many factors that inspired her to become an actor. This leads to a conversation about the mental, interpersonal, and familial hurdles Krys overcame to reach her personal goals within the industry (9:03). Next, Krys details the synopsis of ‘Paradise' and describes how the cast, crew, and writers created an ideal and enriching acting environment (22:47). After the break, they shine a light on the importance of representation in modern television TV shows and how Marshall's Apple TV show ‘For All Mankind' has provided a safe space for black nerds (39:28). Larry and Krys end the pod by discussing the projects they hope to work on in the future and sharing stories of manifesting their own success (54:54). Send us a textTori leads off with the Capuchin Crypt in Rome. The monks used the bones to make works of art throughout the Crypt and the chapels therein. The next one was the Palermo Capuchin Crypt. This one is even creepier because the whole place is full of mummies. You heard me right, mummies. This was apparently a very big status symbol to be a mummy interred in the crypt. Guess what y'all, there are ghosts and they like hanging out with prettiest mummy in the world. Krys tells us of the Witches Village. This site has striking parallels with Salem in the States. This was yet another story about demonizing women. This strife ended up pitting villagers against their neighbors. Triora stands to this day and they embrace history both bad and good. Tori comes back with the island of Poveglia. Now you want ghosts, all of these places are how you get ghosts. ‘Nough said…Our Sources: romesite.com, palermocatacombs.com, walksofitaly.com, atlasobscura.com, littlehouseofhorrors.com, sightseeing-experience.com, italy-trails.com, agriturismolegrandole.com, thegrandwinetour.com, beautifulliguria.comOur theme music: Camille Saint-Saëns: Danse Macabre - Busy Strings by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License.Support our show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/trendylobotomypodcast Find us at FB/Instagram @TrendyLobotomyPod as well as our blog trendylobotomypodcast.blogspot.com Support the show

"The fate of continents is written in water," this audiobook professes, and the vital role of the ocean is at the heart of this expansive listening experience. Host Jo Reed and AudioFile's Alan Minskoff discuss Richard Powers's new audiobook, narrated by a full cast. At the start, the narrators' words flow forth, immersing the listener in four central characters and the minute details that comprise their respective worlds. Sections lack titles or labels, so the distinct voice of each narrator is key to distinguishing which story is which. All six narrators' performances are equally deft; in fact, there is a consistency in pace and tone that makes this complex story accessible. Learn more about your ad choices. Send us a textKrysti leads off with the Curran Theater in San Francisco. This was a hotbed of crime as well as the theater arts. From murder to catching criminals in front of the building, guess what, you want ghosts, that's how you get ghosts. Tori comes in second with terrible pronunciation and Dragholm Castle in Zealand Denmark. This castle survived several iterations and has a shady past. It's been known to have over 100 ghosts. Several tropes show up in this story, including a lady in white, a gray lady, a mad squire, and prisoner bishop. Tori keeps it going with the Skirrid Inn in Wales, which at being over 900 years o;d has seen it's share of history and ghosts. Krys finishes us off with the Watson-Curtze Mansion at Hagen History Center. This mansion on Erie's millionaire's row has it's own checkered past, not to mention it's share of ghosts. Our Sources: atgenentertainment.com, sanfranciscotheatres.blogspot.com, Kqed.com, weirdca.com, sfghosthunt.com, sfweekly.com, goerie.com, eriebuildings.info, hauntedrooms.com, eriehistory.org, Huz Ghost Stories Podcast, nps.gov, britannica.com, youtube.com, littlefhouseofhorrors.com, relaischateaux.com, skirridinn.comOur theme music: Camille Saint-Saëns: Danse Macabre - Busy Strings by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License.Support our show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/trendylobotomypodcast Find us at FB/Instagram @TrendyLobotomyPod as well as our blog trendylobotomypodcast.blogspot.com Support the show
Send us a textTori leads off with Taunton State Hospital in Massachusetts. Not surprisingly this hospital didn't have a great reputation. But guess what it does have, you got it, ghosts. Parts of this hospital are still in operation today. Krys follows up with the Presidio and its illustrious history. This has been a landmark of San Francisco for years upon years. From pet cemeteries, to military bases, to apartments, this place has it all. Tori rounds it out with El Campto Santo Cemetery. This cemetery has every reason to be become haunted. Our Sources: presidio.gov, presidioassociation.org. sfweekly.com, yelp.com, Sfghosthunt.com, Sftourismtips.con, backpackerverse.com,sfghosts.com, nps.gov, kqed.org, https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1121370/, mass.gov, nps.gov, abandonedamerica.us, thetravel.com, suecolletta.com, usghostadventures.com, hiddensandiego.com, ghostsandgravestones.comOur theme music: Camille Saint-Saëns: Danse Macabre - Busy Strings by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License.Support our show on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/trendylobotomypodcast Find us at FB/Instagram @TrendyLobotomyPod as well as our blog trendylobotomypodcast.blogspot.comSupport the show
Send us a textGuess what kids?! Your favorite weird ass Hoosier girls are back in your ears. This week we hit up California for our stories. Krys leads off with the Sutro Baths. These were mainstays of San Francisco for years before shockingly taken out by a mysterious fire. Sutro had a tendency to accumulate relics from around the world, sounds like a great idea right? Oh, can someone figure out what land this was built on? Cliff House was next up and that was another problem waiting to happen. And it did. Tori covers the Queen Mary that has been a popular Long Beach attraction at this point. This ship saw it's share of deaths and has ghost tours to this day. This luxury liner made 1001 trips before coming to port for the last time. The Grey Ghost had a more interesting past than expected. Krys rounds the episode off with the San Francisco City Hall. An earthquake managed to take that sucker out. Also proves that when you build on old cemetery, bad things may happen.
