What do we do when what we are experiencing now does not look like what God has promised? Romans 8:18–30 points us to the glory that is still to come. Paul acknowledges the groaning of creation and our own longing, whilst reminding us that our present reality is not the end of the story.And while we wait, God is still at work according to His purpose.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.”Paul opens Romans 8 with this powerful declaration and goes on to unpack what it means to be in Christ: free from condemnation, no longer bound to the flesh, and led by the Spirit as children of God.Listen and be blessed as we journey through Romans 8:1-17.

ARE YOU READY TO RUMBLE?!Because this fight has been going on for a while. In fact, it feels like it's round 100,670… and you're still fighting.The battle between the life God has called us to and the pull of the flesh. Between wanting to do what is right and somehow finding ourselves doing the very opposite.Paul gives language to this chaotic and all-too-familiar struggle in Romans 7.Listen as we step into the raw tension of Romans 7 and receive the Word, sharp as a sword.

Who or what do you offer yourself to? Paul presents us with a sobering reality: we become slaves to whatever we continually yield ourselves to. We can offer ourselves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness.But there is good news: in Christ, we have been set free from sin and are now free to live in obedience to God.In this teaching, we take a deep dive into Romans 6:15–23. After hearing the wonderful news of being justified by faith, Paul anticipates the questions that may arise: “What are you saying then? Can we continue in sin?”In Romans 6, Paul gives a resounding answer. We have been given a new life and are no longer slaves to sin. Instead, we are now called to live in the reality of what Christ has accomplished for us.Listen as we dissect Romans 6:1–14 and explore what it truly means to be dead to sin and alive to God.

The second part of Romans 5 from verses 12 to 21 introduces us to two Adams: one through whom sin and death entered the world, and another through whom came righteousness and life. We see the contrast between these two representatives and how it culminates in a beautiful story of redemption.

Having been justified by faith, we now have access to God. What a wonderful reality and something we could never have earned ourselves.In Romans 5:1–11, Paul shows us the depth of God's love towards us: a love demonstrated through Christ, giving us access to God and a hope that does not disappoint.Listen as we continue our study of Romans and explore the beautiful realities of being justified by faith.

Times and seasons of prayer are invaluable, and we see this in the life of our Example, Christ Jesus. Our Lord would often spend the night in prayer and communion with His Father, especially before significant decisions. As believers and children of God, we are called to cultivate this same posture of prayer and fellowship with the Father.Discernment is not necessarily the receiving of new information; it is the ability to rightly perceive and understand what already exists. It grows through use, attention, and obedience.And true discernment, the kind that is of God, is rooted in love.Listen, learn, and let your discernment be sharpened.

Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness. David spoke of the blessedness of the one whose sins are forgiven and whom the Lord does not count guilty. Romans 4 unpacks the beautiful truth of righteousness received by faith.

Up until this point, everything has seemed dire: all have sinned, and all are guilty.But in the concluding part of Romans 3, Paul brings us to a turning point. What seemed like the end of the story because of our sin becomes the beginning of the good news: we can be freely justified by His grace through Christ.Listen and be edified as we study Romans 3:21–31.

Paul brings us to a climax in Chapter 3: every person is guilty as charged before God; no one is righteous. We continue our study of the book of Romans in this teaching "Guilty As Charged" where we study Romans 3:1-20. The law exposes the depth of our sin, but it cannot justify us or make us righteous before God. Instead, it reveals our need for a righteousness that comes from God.

Self-righteousness. Hypocrisy. The “better than others” syndrome. The Jewish people were full of it. In Chapter 1, Paul confronts the Gentiles and their rejection of God. But in Chapter 2, the mirror turns. Now, Paul addresses the Jews, those who knew the Law, judged others, and yet failed to see the sin in their own hearts.Listen, sit with the Word, be confronted by it, and be changed by it as we go through Romans 2.

A sincere contemplation of all that God has made leaves humanity without excuse. The beauty and order of creation itself bear undeniable witness to His existence.Romans 1:18-32 reveals the sobering consequences of suppressing the truth about God and exchanging His truth for a lie, turning away from the Creator and worshipping what He has made.

Romans is such a rich book, one many of us love, but how many of us have actually taken the time to carefully go through it? In our new teaching series "When In Rome", we would be extensively going through the book of Romans.In this teaching, we begin our journey through Romans in Romans 1:1-17. What gives a person the courage to stand unashamed in a world that resists the truth? The gospel of Christ is worth believing, worth proclaiming, and worth standing for.

Our backgrounds and experience largely influence our idea of what doing life with people looks like. As believers, we are saved into God's family and not as lone rangers. Therefore, we must learn to look to the word of God and his idea of community, above our perceptions and experiences.
