1 Don't boast about tomorrow; for you don't know what a day may bring. 2 Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips. 3 A stone is heavy, and sand is a burden; but a fool's provocation is heavier than both. 4 Wrath is cruel, and anger is overwhelming; but who is able to stand before jealousy? 5 Better is open rebuke than hidden love. 6 The wounds of a friend are faithful, although the kisses of an enemy are profuse. 7 A full soul loathes a honeycomb; but to a hungry soul, every bitter thing is sweet. 8 As a bird that wanders from her nest, so is a man who wanders from his home. 9 Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart; so does earnest counsel from a man's friend. 10 Don't forsake your friend and your father's friend. Don't go to your brother's house in the day of your disaster. A neighbor who is near is better than a distant brother. 11 Be wise, my son, and bring joy to my heart, then I can answer my tormentor. 12 A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge; but the simple pass on, and suffer for it. 13 Take his garment when he puts up collateral for a stranger. Hold it for a wayward woman! 14 He who blesses his neighbor with a loud voice early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse by him. 15 A continual dropping on a rainy day and a contentious wife are alike: 16 restraining her is like restraining the wind, or like grasping oil in his right hand. 17 Iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpens his friend's countenance. 18 Whoever tends the fig tree shall eat its fruit. He who looks after his master shall be honored. 19 Like water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man. 20 Sheol* and Abaddon are never satisfied; and a man's eyes are never satisfied. 21 The crucible is for silver, and the furnace for gold; but man is refined by his praise. 22 Though you grind a fool in a mortar with a pestle along with grain, yet his foolishness will not be removed from him. 23 Know well the state of your flocks, and pay attention to your herds, 24 for riches are not forever, nor does the crown endure to all generations. 25 The hay is removed, and the new growth appears, the grasses of the hills are gathered in. 26 The lambs are for your clothing, and the goats are the price of a field. 27 There will be plenty of goats' milk for your food, for your family's food, and for the nourishment of your servant girls. Jared kicks off with meta-complaints about internet scolds who ruin harmless parent stories by commenting “they'll be dead one day,” then pivots to three personal gripes: Penn State football being stuck in mediocrity under James Franklin (great recruiter, stagnant offense, scary to make a change), how brutal it is to admit you're a comedian in public (the “tell us a joke/are you funny?” gauntlet), and why argument doesn't equal evil if you can keep it playful like he does with his parents. Listener submissions follow: a mother-in-law's overpowering 40-year signature perfume that lingers on everything (Jared's take: you probably have to eat it, or pull a sitcom-style “third-party cougher” intervention), a plane neighbor's bare toes on the armrest (firm “excuse me” is enough), anti–ChatGPT snobbery (it's fear and performative purity; tools are fine in moderation), and a restaurant employee plopping down a foot away to watch phone videos out loud (personal-space crime, use headphones or move). Closes by reminding listeners to send their own complaints for future Tuesdays.Support the show and get 10% off your Hero Bread order with code JTRAIN at https://www.hero.co

Precocious puberty, also known as early puberty, takes place when a child's body begins to change into an adult body too soon. In today's world, puberty usually begins for girls around age eight, and around age nine for our boys. In recent years, there has also been research showing that in general, our kids are reaching puberty at earlier and earlier ages. There have been lots of different theories put forward regarding what's causing this. Researchers tell us that one factor which triggers early puberty in girls are the fragrance producing chemicals that are in the commercial beauty and skin-care products that flood the market, and that have become especially popular among pre-teen and younger girls in recent years. Karen often hears from people who work exclusively with natural materials in their fragrances but are beginning to notice the limitations, whether it's their blends smelling too much like aromatherapy products or lacking longevity. If you want to move past these challenges and create fragrances that compare to commercial ones, the key is to incorporate synthetics. In this episode, Karen will share her recommendations for ten synthetic materials to add to your toolkit that will elevate your perfume creations to the next level. KEY TAKEAWAYS Hedione is a synthetic material that closely resembles jasmine, but smells lighter. Karen gives you an overview of this material, which is impossible to overdose, and changed perfume history forever. Musks are one of the biggest gaps when you're only working with naturals and it is synthetic musks that give perfume longevity. There are so many synthetic musks that can solve this problem. Karen shares her recommendations for the best synthetic musks to use. The ‘Heart of the Floral' is a fragrance made up from a trio of materials, and one of them, muguet, is only available as a synthetic. However, there are a few variations. Karen breaks down the differences between them. Sandalwood is a widely used material in perfumery, but if you want it to go all the way from the base to the top, you will have to rely on synthetics. Karen explains why and gives her recommendations for materials. BEST MOMENTS “Unless you start using synthetics, you're not going to learn how they work.” “Synthetics don't replace naturals, they enhance them.” “There are so many synthetic materials out there that it can be overwhelming to explore them for the first time. But, with the right approach, understanding them can add a new dimension to your perfume making.” VALUABLE RESOURCES Perfume Making 101 Studio Classes Episodes on materials Getting Started Guide Artisan Perfumery Mastermind ABOUT THE HOST Fragrance expert, author, teacher and speaker; Karen Gilbert runs courses in the UK and online which demystify the secretive world of perfumery in a fun and interactive way. The Sound Chaser Progressive Rock Podcast is on the air. The show this time is all about the many languages of Prog. Most progressive rock is sung in English, for reasons you probably already know well. However, a fair amount is sung in other languages. Because of that, quite a bit of progressive music does not get the attention it perhaps deserves. So, I am rectifying this just a little by featuring songs in a variety of languages. It's an international tour on Sound Chaser. I have In Memoriam features for musicians recently gone: Mark Volman, Rick Davies, and Nicky Ryan. The show features music from Magma, Yuka & Chronoship, Kraan, Ange, Tusmørke, Yesterdays, and many others. It's all here on Sound Chaser. PlaylistIcelandic1. Jesús no nos quiere perfectos: nos quiere enamorados. Jesús no nos quiere sólo sobresalientes, pluscuamperfectos.
