Imagine walking into work feeling fresh, smelling amazing… only for your boss to pull you aside and say: “Please stop wearing perfume.” Can they actually do that? Some people say your scent is part of your personal style and nobody should control how you choose to present yourself. But others argue that strong fragrances can affect people around you, especially colleagues with allergies, migraines, asthma, or sensitivities. So where do we draw the line? Is a workplace perfume ban a reasonable rule to keep everyone comfortable, or is your boss stepping too far into your personal choices? Hang out with Anele and The Club on 947 every weekday morning. What if the fragrances you're drawn to have less to do with notes and more to do with who you are? In this episode, I sit down with beauty expert, make up artist and Creator Ellen Malone for a fascinating conversation about the emotional and psychological power of scent. We explore how colour can influence fragrance preferences, why certain perfumes become part of our identity, and how scent can be used as a tool for confidence, transformation and self-expression. From treasured vintage bottles and signature scents to fragrance layering and the stories we attach to perfume throughout our lives, this episode is a masterclass in understanding the deeper role fragrance plays in shaping how we feel and how we present ourselves to the world. Whether you're a fragrance collector, a beauty enthusiast or simply curious about why certain scents move you, you'll discover a new way to think about perfume. @askellenbeautyKey Takeaways Colour can be a surprisingly accurate predictor of fragrance preference. Fragrance is often less about smelling good and more about how we want to feel. Scent creates powerful emotional anchors linked to memory and identity. Layering allows fragrance lovers to create something uniquely personal. A signature scent can become part of how others remember us. Perfume is both an emotional ritual and a form of self-expression. Rachel Greiman has done a lot of things - photojournalism, family photography, copywriting, and now? She owns a fragrance boutique in Denver called Ode. And no, none of that was planned.   In this episode, I'm sitting down with one of my favorite internet friends to talk about what it actually looks like to blow up a successful business and start something completely new in the middle of absolute chaos. We're talking COVID with a newborn, her son's leukemia diagnosis, two-plus years of treatment, and somehow, on the other side of all of it, opening a brick-and-mortar shop.   What I love most about this conversation is that Rachel isn't selling you a highlight reel. She talks honestly about ADHD as a superpower and a liability, the intellectual guilt of being a working mom, why she stopped waiting to call herself an expert, and the mantra that changed how she approaches every new venture.   Whether you've been sitting on a big idea or you're just trying to figure out how to stop white-knuckling every decision, there's something for you in this episode. Find Rachel at @odetoshop or odetoperfume.com, and follow her personally at @rachelgreiman.   ==========================

Wowie! So many excellent fragrances to get your noses around in this episode, it was difficult to know where to begin. But with so many to explore we started with a recap of the recent barnstorming success of Barnes Fragrance Fair...We talked through Suzy's choices for her sold-out talk with Alice du Parcq (and if you couldn't go or were there but missed any of the talks: never fear! They were all recorded and will be on the Barnes Fragrance Fair YouTube channel when they're all edited. We'll let you know when they're up, but meanwhile you can watch last year's talks there, including the ‘Top of the morning' show we so loved doing.)Suzy chose:Shloksha Soapy HeartBased in Tunbridge Wells, founder Jay says “Moving from India to the UK in mytwenties, I do miss the immersive sensory joys found in everyday Indian culture.Sourcing and working with traditional Indian materials connects me to mychildhood—scented trips down memory lane!”Opening notes - red mandarin and grapefruitHeart notes - jasmine, ylang ylang, green grass and saffronBase notes – sandalwood, fruity musk, oudh“You slip on your fine silk robe, gorgeously patterned with tropical birds, andquietly pad along the hallway to the bathroom. Closing the heavy wooden doorwith a sigh of relief, you lean over the sparkling slipper bath, slide the plug inand turn both taps on full. Glittering beads of water dance in the diffuse light. You perch your hip on the side of the bath as your ears fill pleasantly with theroar and tumble of the cascading water. Your life is very busy and demanding, and you get few opportunities to indulge yourself. But a long, quiet bath is oftenwhat you crave.Your eyes glance along the rich turquoise tiled shelf as you ponder how to scentyour watery sanctuary. Antique crystal jars hold delicately fragrant floralsalts—you carefully lift their lids- one by one - and their enchanting perfumesmingle with the steam. But they're perhaps not exactly what you're in the moodfor.A waxed paper tablet of old-fashioned, handmade soap sits demurely at theend of the shelf. Fresh, brand new and unopened. Your fingertips softly caressthe crackling paper as you carefully unwrap it and the dense, creamy pebbledrops into your silken lap.You dip your hands briefly in the warm bath water and rotate the smooth soap inyour hands. Rich suds fly into the air, dense but light. Airy and iridescent. Yes,this is what you were looking for.”Jorum Studio Risso‘An independent fragrance brand founded in Scotland in 2019 led by Scottishperfumer Euan McCall. Her path led her from the foundationaldiscipline of the Grasse Institute of Perfumery to a Master's degree in FragranceFormulation. Alina says: “We live in the moment, just not this one. AND she wanted to choose Olfiction ICONIC, but Alice had chosenthat, too. So... they compromised and both spoke about those incredible scents. We'll discuss them properly on the pod when the talks are up (and when Nicola'shad a chance to get her nose on them.)Nicola's been falling in love with wearing Juliette Has a Gun Not a Perfume allover again, for its pleasing, easy-to-wear character when worn alone, and for itsability to coax beguiling intricacies from other scents while also boosting theirlongevity.Another new launch Suzy's obsessed by is Essential Parfums Ambre Latteby Jordi Fernández“I envisioned Ambre Latte as a highly addictive overdose of my favourite amberwoods wrapped in a delicious swirl of almond milk. Infused with caramel, tonka, vanilla, and benzoin, this creamy haze lends the amber structure an irresistibleand unforgettable signature. A fragrance that draws you in… and keeps youclose."‘With Ambre Latte, Jordi Fernandez offers a unique and exquisitely refined takeon indulgence. The fragrance unfolds in a vaporous cloud of almond milk, delicately infused with roasted tonka bean. Indulgence settles in — irresistibleyet perfectly controlled — as a luscious dulce de leche caramel melts into theenveloping softness of vanilla, benzoin and white musks.Very soon, the fragrance reveals its duality. Beneath the milky caress emergesan intensely addictive woody-amber alchemy. Ambrofix, Georgywood,Akigalawood and white sandalwood structure the composition, infusing it withdepth, sophistication and modernity. They extend the trail with sensual richness, leaving an unforgettable imprint — the perfect balance between gourmandiseand addiction.'Escentric Molecules Cologne OneSuzy described this as feeling like a Cologne that's been whizzed up in a SodaStream machine! The brand says: ‘Cologne One captures the freshness of a ginand tonic in a single, sparkling gesture: effervescent, bright, unmistakably clean. The fragrance lives in its top notes: juniper for the gin, lime and citrus for lift, atouch of bergamot and mandarin, a whisper of ginger for a delicate spiciness, and a hint of cucumber's neutrality to enhance the crispness without becomingliteral. It is freshness concentrated, transparent, and immediate. The heart remains understated: iris, rose, and hedione offer just enoughstructure to support the top note, allowing the bright citrus and juniper to linger. The dry down is linear, calm, and unobtrusive: Ambroxan, Iso E Super, and atrace of musk. Nothing competes, nothing distracts.“We have a very different approach to fragrance, so our first cologne capturesthe very unique and wonderful freshness of a gin and tonic. I think it's quite newwith that sort of freshness. It's the idea of the sparkling, effervescent gin andtonic first scent, this sort of your nose in the drink,” says perfumer Geza Schoen.Cologne One is a cologne reimagined by Escentric Molecules: 15% concentrationfor lasting freshness without leaving an overwhelmingly fragrant impression. It isrefreshing, refined, and gender-neutral....

In Episode 5 of Seeing Tarot, artist Anna Rose Stabler and tarot reader Gina Wisotzky continue their card-by-card exploration of the tarot, arriving at the final ace of the Minor Arcana: the Ace of Pentacles.Rather than defining cards through fixed meanings, this podcast explores what happens when you live with tarot over time: through art-making, daily life, season, conversation, and sensory experience. This month's focus:The Ace of PentaclesHere, we dive into the element of earth: cultivation, embodiment, material reality, labor, pleasure, systems, resources, and the strange human tension between structure and freedom. The conversation moves between orchards, agriculture, productivity culture, tarot structure, perfume, ducks, bees, home renovations, and the rhythms of seasonal living. From the dense jungle in the mountains of western Colombia, correspondent Anderson Cooper reports on how decades of armed conflict between the Colombian government and left-wing guerrillas, right-wing paramilitaries, and narco-traffickers created “no-go” areas where rare species of birds flourish.  Correspondent Cecilia Vega reports from Grasse in the south of France where flowers for the world's most famous perfume have been grown and gathered for more than one hundred years. In the early 1900s, Grasse was home to more than 10,000 acres of flower fields; today it's just over 100.  To learn more about listener data and our privacy practices visit: https://www.audacyinc.com/privacy-policy Learn more about your ad choices. One Year Bible Podcast: Join Hunter and Heather Barnes on the Daily Radio Bible, a daily Bible‑in‑a‑year podcast with 20‑minute Scripture readings, Christ‑centered devotion, and guided prayer. This daily Bible reading and devotional invites you to live as a citizen of Jesus' kingdom, reconciled, renewed, and deeply loved. TODAY'S EPISODE: Welcome to the Daily Radio Bible on this April 2nd, day 93 of our journey through the Scriptures. I'm your host, Speaker A, inviting you to spend a little time together as we explore the remarkable stories of Judges 13–16 and the powerful words of 2 Corinthians chapter 2. Today, we'll witness the birth and dramatic life of Samson, a man set apart from before birth as a Nazarite, whose feats—and flaws—shaped the history of Israel during their oppression by the Philistines. We'll hear of God's faithfulness, radical forgiveness, and the fragrance of a life lived in Christ, as Speaker C and Speaker B lead us in reflection and prayer. Wherever you are, join us as we open our hearts to the Word, reflect on Christ's sacrifice this Good Friday, and discover the life-giving perfume that is poured out on all who believe. TODAY'S DEVOTION: A life giving perfume. Paul says that's what our lives are to be. Perfume is beautiful. It's treasured. It fills the senses, it revives us, it beautifies us. This perfume Paul is talking about goes even further—it gives life. This life giving perfume doesn't evaporate or dissipate over time. Once poured out, it grows and multiplies. It fills the room, it fills the world. Its fragrance spreads through time and gives life to each new generation, each new civilization. This is eternal, life giving perfume. It has been poured out on us, and we are to pour it out on others. On this Good Friday, we remember that God's life giving perfume was poured out in the life of our Lord Jesus upon the whole earth as he hung from the cross. He gave Himself so that he might offer radical forgiveness for all, that he might suffer on behalf of all, that that fragrant life would beautify all. So this day, may the Spirit of Christ—the fragrance of his life—emanate from our souls into this world. May others be awakened to the fragrant life, the self-giving, radically forgiving, co-suffering life of our Lord. May we all be awakened to this life that is ours in him today. And that's the prayer that I have for you. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL
