Episode 430 of The VentureFizz Podcast features Phil Beauregard, Managing Partner of Impellent Ventures. I first met Phil back when Boston was going through another massive resurgence of growth following the financial crisis of 2008. It was a special time when local founders and investors banded together to help build and scale the Boston tech ecosystem. It was a movement that is reminiscent of what we are seeing today with the Mass AI Coalition. There was a major buzz in the air back then, and it worked, resulting in the launch of multiple successful companies, including two of Phil's own startups which were both acquired. There is a phrase that Phil commonly uses, which is “why join the Navy when you can be a pirate” and I think it speaks volumes to his mentality and how they deploy capital at Impellent Ventures. They don't just simply follow the herd, especially when it comes to finding elite entrepreneurs. They are entirely location-agnostic and welcome working with exceptional founders who are tackling massive, real-world problems in emerging ecosystems... not just out in Silicon Valley. Impellent Ventures is focused on making seed and pre-seed investments. The firm is led by Phil, David Brown (who previously appeared on Episode 190), and Tariq Trotter, aka Black Thought of The Roots, who serves as a General Partner at the firm. In this episode of our podcast, we cover: * A conversation around building startups outside of San Francisco, and why we are living through the "consumerization of the enterprise" era. * The correlation between smaller fund sizes and investor returns. * Phil's background growing up in New Bedford and studying business at The Wharton School at UPenn, plus how he first caught the entrepreneurial bug and met his co-founder, Matt Grace. * The inside story behind his two exits: Objective Logistics to Carbon Black and Rekindle to HubSpot. * His transition from operator to investor at Impellent Ventures, plus all the details on their unique investment criteria, portfolio company examples, and how Tariq Trotter joined the firm. * His role as an early advisor to multiple successful tech companies, including the critical advice that Toast luckily chose not to take. * How Phil is leveraging AI to build his own Relationship Intelligence System, helping him scale his ability to "pay it forward" to the ecosystem. * Plus, so much more!

Have you ever felt the passion in your faith slowly fading? Maybe there was a time when you couldn't wait to open your Bible, go to church, or talk about God. But somewhere along the way, your fire went out. Your enthusiasm faded. And now? You're in a spiritual funk—maybe even numb. Well today, Dallas Theological Seminary President, Dr. Mark Yarbrough, joins us for a deeply honest and hope-filled conversation about what it means to revive a faith that's grown cold. Mark explains why every believer is vulnerable to drifting spiritually—whether it's due to an abrupt hardship or a slow fade of familiarity—and he'll give you six essential markers of a rekindled heart, all of which are rooted in returning to your identity in Christ. Oh friend, this conversation is not about trying harder or following a spiritual checklist. It's about pointing you back to the One who can set your heart ablaze again. In Episode 167 of Love, Sex & Tarot, host Acacia dives deep into the science of relationship maintenance with the "72-Hour Rule"—the chemical reality that intimacy (sexual or otherwise) needs to be rekindled every 72 hours to maintain the oxytocin bond between partners. Drawing from relationship science and personal anecdotes, Acacia explains why couples drift apart when they let emotional and physical gaps widen into "insurmountable chasms of silence," and provides actionable advice on how women can shift from passive recipients to active initiators of intimacy. The episode also features a tarot reading exploring financial struggles, the desire to move/escape past memories, and a passionate new connection with a King of Swords (Air sign) that promises long-term success and "sensory sex." Additional topics include: why women need to view sex as self-care rather than another chore, the importance of the female orgasm and communication around pleasure, and the study showing that just 47 minutes of daily quality time is the sweet spot for relationship satisfaction. The show wraps with a reminder about the ongoing tarot reading giveaway for listeners who leave a five-star review. ⚠️ These are performances and for entertainment purposes only. Greg Mayes, President and CEO of Reunion Neuroscience, and Dr. Manish Agrawal, the Co-Founder and CEO of Sunstone Therapies, shine a light on adjustment disorder, a disproportionate emotional or behavioral reaction to a significant life stressor such as a cancer diagnosis. This under-recognized condition lacks FDA-approved treatments and is often managed with SSRIs or talk therapy. The REKINDLE study evaluated the use of a psilocybin analog drug in development for treating adjustment disorder and has shown positive results by integrating emotional treatment into the standard of care for serious illnesses. Greg explains, "In fact, there are no approved investigational assets that had been approved by the FDA for adjustment disorder. But it was an area of exploration that the FDA encouraged us to move into in light of people's disproportionate and really unfortunate reactions in terms of a depressive or anxiolytic reaction to cancer diagnosis or other major medical illness like Parkinson's disease, MS, ALS, or pulmonary fibrosis." Manish elaborates, "Well, usually you have to have had some stress-related event. For example, it could be things like divorce or job loss. But here, specifically, this study is targeting an illness, and the ones that Greg had just listed out, the neurologic conditions, as well as the cancer diagnosis. And then usually it leads to symptoms, intense feelings of sadness or anxiety or hopelessness. You can have a depressed mood with its subtypes with depressed mood. Some people have more anxiety. And so both a stressor and the symptoms that present are associated directly with that. So, for example, for the study, the symptoms of sadness need to be tied to the illness, such as cancer or MS." #ReunionNeuroscience #SunstoneTherapies #AdjustmentDisorder #MentalHealth #REKINDLEStudy #Psychedelics #PsychedelicMedicine #CancerCare #MentalHealth #ClinicalTrials #Psilocybin #Oncology #PatientCare #MedicalInnovation #Neuroscience reunionneuro.com sunstonetherapies.com Download the transcript here

Most rebrands fail because they change the logo but never clarify the why. In this episode, we sit down with Nate Anderson, CEO of Rekindle, formerly RK Go Big, to unpack what it looks like to rebrand from the inside out. This is not a cosmetic update. It is a mission reset. Nate walks through how anchoring decisions to purpose sharpens strategy, builds trust, and unifies boards, staff, and partners. If your credit union is rethinking identity, growth, or collaboration, this conversation will challenge you to use rebranding as a mission accelerant. You will hear how repetition, clarity, and courageous communication turn change into momentum rather than confusion. In this episode we talk about and answer these questions: • why most rebrands fail when they focus on visuals instead of mission • how to make your mission simple enough to become an elevator pitch • what it takes to align board, staff, and partners during a brand shift • how repetition and over communication build trust during uncertainty • why cosmetic changes can help snap focus and reinforce cultural change • how shared services help small credit unions thrive through collaboration Click Here to Submit Your Questions Links from show: Rekindle CUSO website ServiStar Emerging Leaders program ServiStar Coaching for Performance Subscribe to ServiStar Leadership Podcast on your favorite streaming service

Valentine's Day is here — and instead of pressure, performance, or comparison, I want to invite you into hope.In this episode of Miracle Marriage Makeover, I share why intimacy and sex drive often feel different in midlife — and why that change doesn't mean your love story is ending. It means it's evolving. Together, we'll talk about how emotional connection, mindset, and grace awaken desire naturally, and how this season of marriage may actually be preparing you for a deeper, more meaningful kind of romance. If you've felt distant in intimacy, unsure about your sex drive, or quietly longing for more connection, I want you to hear this: you are not broken — you are becoming. In this episode, you'll learn:• Why desire transforms in midlife instead of disappearing• How releasing pressure restores emotional and physical connection• How God uses this season to reset love and rebuild intimacy• Why Valentine's Day can be the beginning of a new chapter in your marriageThis conversation is for Christian wives, empty-nest women, and anyone longing to rebuild emotional connection, rekindle romance, and experience intimacy rooted in faith, love, and grace.

As the number of patients and survivors of cancer grows each year, awareness of the disease's emotional toll—including depression, anxiety, and deep existential distress—is increasingly recognized as a critical aspect of cancer care. In response, psychedelic-assisted therapy is gaining attention as a promising alternative to traditional mental health interventions, providing relief for some patients. To shed light on the patient experience with this treatment, CANCER BUZZ spoke with breast cancer survivor Judy Wight; Jennifer Bires, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C, FACCC, executive director of Life with Cancer and Patient Experience at Inova Health System; and Manish Agrawal, MD, cofounder and CEO of Sunstone Therapies, about the human side of psychedelic-assisted therapy, promising existing research, and how it can shape the future of psychosocial care. "It's not that I'm a different person. It's more like I'm becoming the person I was meant to be. And all those layers of trauma and sadness...I've been able to shed a lot of that." – Judy Wight "When I started to learn about psychedelic-assisted therapy, read some of the patient accounts, and see some of the research, I said, 'I've got to learn about this. I think that this could be another tool that would be useful for people in this space where we don't have the perfect answer, and we don't have the perfect treatments.'" – Jennifer Bires, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C, FACCC "When I give talks around this, I have an iceberg. Above the iceberg I have chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation, and underneath the iceberg I have what's called psychosocial, psycho-spiritual, psychological care. And I think true cancer care is treating everything in the iceberg, not just what's above the water." – Manish Agrawal, MD Guests: Jennifer Bires, MSW, LCSW, OSW-C, FACCC Executive Director, Life with Cancer and Patient Experience Inova Health System Fairfax, VA Judy Wight Breast Cancer Survivor Manish Agrawal, MD Cofounder and CEO Sunstone Therapies REKINDLE Investigator This podcast is sponsored by Reunion Neuroscience. In this episode, Colette is joined by experienced Ayurvedic physician Dr. Sujatha Kekada for a classical and clinical exploration of winter wellness. Awe has a way of fading when life gets crowded. Deadlines, responsibilities, and endless distractions can dull our awareness of the beauty that surrounds us every day. This devotional invites us to return to wonder—through the kind of attentive noticing that poetry captures so well. Poetry helps us slow down, see more deeply, and reconnect with meaning. And in a similar way, creation can become a doorway back into worship when our hearts feel tired or uninspired. The devotional points to the psalms as a reminder that awe is not a modern idea—it’s part of a long, sacred practice. David, a poet himself, looked at the world around him and responded with gratitude and praise. Psalm 65 celebrates God’s provision and the beauty of nature from morning to evening. It’s a picture of a life that recognizes God’s hand in what’s growing, blooming, changing, and sustaining. Today’s encouragement is practical and gentle: if you feel stuck, underwhelmed, or overworked, plan a pause in nature. Take a walk. Study a single detail—a leaf, a shell, a butterfly, a creek—and let your senses wake up again to the reality that God is present and creative. Creation becomes a reminder that the Lord is still at work in ways we can’t always see, weaving fragile miracles into ordinary moments. Making space to be awestruck can cleanse the spirit, lift the heart, and restore faith—because awe reminds us that God is bigger than our burdens and more tender than we sometimes remember. Main Takeaways Awe can fade when life feels busy, heavy, or distracting—but it can be rekindled. Creation points us to God’s power, provision, and gentleness. The psalms model a life of noticing and responding with gratitude and worship. A simple pause in nature can restore perspective and renew faith. Paying attention to small details can become a spiritual practice of seeing God’s handiwork. Today’s Bible Verse:The whole earth is filled with awe at your wonders; where morning dawns, where evening fades, you call forth songs of joy. - Psalm 65:8 Your Daily Prayer Here is a brief excerpt from today’s prayer: “Help me find time to seek you in nature… Send me a beautiful sight or sound that radiates your glory.” Listen to hear the full prayer or read the devotional at the links below.
