In this sermon, we explore what it means to see the world “right side up” through the lens of the gospel, drawing deeply from Romans 8 and the wider sweep of Scripture.Using Dallas Willard's upside‑down fighter jet, J.I. Packer's imagery of inverted living, and Jesus' own shocking values in the Beatitudes (Matthew 5:1–12), we confront the reality that sin has distorted our vision so completely that what feels “normal” is actually life lived on our heads (Ephesians 2:1–3).Centering on Romans 8:1–39, this message unpacks:No Condemnation in ChristRomans 8:1–4; Romans 3:21–26; 2 Corinthians 5:21How the cross truly “worked”—God condemned sin in the flesh of His Son so there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. From Law to SpiritRomans 7:7–25; Romans 8:2–11; Jeremiah 31:31–34; Ezekiel 36:25–27Why the Law could expose sin but never transform the heart, and how the Holy Spirit now fulfills the righteous requirement of the Law in us.Flesh People vs. Spirit PeopleRomans 8:5–9; Galatians 5:16–25; Colossians 3:1–10The mindset of the flesh leads to death, but the mindset of the Spirit leads to life and peace—and how to know which you are.Adopted, Not AbandonedRomans 8:14–17; John 1:12–13; Galatians 4:4–7The Spirit of adoption teaches our hearts to cry “Abba, Father” and continually reminds us who we really are in Christ.Suffering, Groaning, and HopeRomans 8:18–27; 2 Corinthians 4:16–18; Revelation 21:1–5Creation groans, we groan, and even the Spirit groans—yet all our present sufferings are “not worth comparing” with the coming glory.More Than ConquerorsRomans 8:28–39; Philippians 1:6; 1 Corinthians 15:54–58If God did not spare His own Son, how will He not also graciously give us all things? Nothing—not sin, not suffering, not death—can separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. This message invites you to:Trust that the cross has decisively dealt with your condemnation (Romans 8:1).Walk in the Spirit's power, even while you still feel the pull of the flesh (Galatians 5:16).Persevere in holiness and hope, knowing God will finish what He started in you (Philippians 1:6).Live with “rebellious joy,” awaiting the full redemption of your body and the renewal of all creation (Romans 8:23–25; Revelation 21:5).Scripture focus: Romans 8; Matthew 5:1–12; Romans 7; Jeremiah 31:31–34; Ezekiel 36:25–27; 2 Corinthians 5:21; Philippians 1:6; Revelation 21:1–5.
All throughout both the Old and New Testaments, we see a clear pattern of people in Scripture turning to prayer and fasting in times of uncertainty, brokenness, and need. And in those examples, we find that prayer and fasting are not just religious obligations but natural responses to desperation. And we find that moments of crisis can lead to spiritual renewal when approached with humility and dependence on God. And we find that whether you and I are facing the unknown road ahead or the ruins of life, the invitation is to pray and fast, recognizing that our deepest hunger can only be satisfied by God. SPEAKERS: Jay Kim (Saratoga), video (South Hills) Bible Passage(s): Ezra 8:21,23, Nehemiah 1:3-4
The Lord Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3:17, For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. Dear child of God, read those words from our Blessed Lord again. So many of God's children walk around under this thick cloud of condemnation. What is the source of such an oppressive spirit? Most certainly, this condemnation does not come from The Lord, nor from The Holy Ghost. Conviction? Chastening? Yes. Condemnation? No.The apostle Paul writes in Romans 8:1-2 "There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death." The source of this condemnation is Satan. Rev 12:10 "And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night."In courtroom terminology, Satan is the prosecuting attorney. The Lord Jesus told Peter before he denied him that Satan would pounce on the sin, and seek to destroy his faith in Jesus. "And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat" (Luke 22:31). Oh the compassion and mercy that Jesus has for ALL of His sheep when they fail and fall short of the glory of God. Listen once again to the words of the apostle Paul in Romans 8:33-34. "Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us."One of Satan's most effective fiery darts is the fiery dart of accusation. Every child of God must resist this lie from the pit of hell by holding up the shield of faith, which in reality is the shield of faith in the perfect work of Jesus Christ for our sin, not the shield of faith in my own faith. When the church of Corinth did not deal biblically with the issue of forgiving a man who has fallen, but had repented of his sin, Paul exhorted them to forgive him: "Lest Satan should get an advantage of us: for we are not ignorant of his devices" (2 Cor 2:11).Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is our Advocate or defense attorney before The Father. He is not condemning you, beloved, He is pleading for you and me before The Father. Rejoice in your salvation, resist the devil and he will flee from you. Hallelujah! What is covenant theology? Are we under the new covenant today? Or does it begin later? I read Romans 8 about "no condemnation" and still get confused and feel guilty. Do I need to live or "walk" a certain way to be freed from condemnation daily? What are your thoughts about the numbers and patterns of numbers used in the Bible?

No Condemnation in Christ! Romans 8:1-11. Lead Pastor Michael Clary
The Ultimate Verdict: No Condemnation The sermon identifies the Gospel as the "best news" because it provides a permanent legal verdict of "not guilty" for those in Christ Jesus. This "no condemnation" is a present reality, meaning believers do not have to wait until death to know their standing with God; the penalty for their sin has been entirely removed because Jesus took it upon Himself. A Shift from Slave to Child Pastor Van Bemmel contrasts two different spiritual states: 1. The Law of Sin and Death: Under this "law," people are slaves to their own failures and a "sentence of doom," living in fear-based obedience. 2. The Law of the Spirit of Life: Through the Spirit of adoption, believers become children of God. Their obedience is fueled by love and security rather than the fear of punishment or being "sold off" for poor performance. God Did What the Law Could Not The sermon explains that while the Mosaic Law is holy, it is "weakened by the flesh"—meaning human nature is too broken to meet its requirements. The Mirror Analogy: Like a mirror, the Law can show that a "face is dirty" (identify sin) but lacks the power to wash it. The Intervention: God intervened by sending His Son in the "likeness of sinful flesh" to serve as a substitute. By condemning sin in Jesus' physical body on the cross, God satisfied the demands of justice without ignoring the sin itself. Walking by the Spirit The "righteous requirement" of the law is fulfilled in believers, not by them. This happens as the Holy Spirit applies Jesus' perfect record to the believer and begins to produce holiness and love within their hearts. To "walk according to the Spirit" is to stop looking inward fo
Elijah's prayer brought the fire of God onto the sacrifice and not on the people. This points to the cross where God's judgment was poured out on Jesus, who became the ultimate sacrifice for us.

Hey Friend! In this candid and inspiring conversation, I sit down with actor, filmmaker, and author Nathan Clarkson to discuss brokenness, humility, and the surprising freedom that comes from admitting our faults. Nathan shares the heart behind his new book, The Worst: How Freedom Is Found in Admitting Our Faults, and opens up about his personal journey of confronting pride, perfectionism, and hidden struggles. Together, we explore why we resist acknowledging our weaknesses, how shame keeps us stuck, and why God’s grace meets us most powerfully in our honesty. This episode is a refreshing reminder that freedom doesn’t come from pretending we have it all together—it comes from surrender, humility, and embracing the unconditional love of Christ. BIBLE STUDY| MIRACLES OF JESUS SERIES.|THE FIFTH MIRACLE OF JESUS pt.17| THE POWER OF RETREAT|JESUS WALKING ON WATER| CHIMDI OHAHUNA Focus: Jesus' Intercessory Work for Saints (Romans 8:34) In this powerful seventeenth session, we explore the heart of Christ's ongoing ministry for His Church, His intercessory work for the saints. Romans 8:34 reminds us that “Christ Jesus… is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.” This episode highlights how Jesus stands as both Savior and Judge, ensuring that His finished work secures our justification and silences the accusations of the enemy. Key Highlights: - Grounds of Intercession: Jesus intercedes to counter condemnation, affirming that the devil can accuse but cannot condemn. Only the Judge has the authority to pass sentence. - Who is the Condemner? From the Greek katakrinō, condemnation means to judge worthy of punishment. Yet, Jesus alone is the Judge of the living and the dead (Romans 2:16; 14:10). - Correction vs. Condemnation: Saints are called to lovingly correct one another, not to judge. Correction is by choice, never by force (2 Timothy 4:1). - The Fair Hearing of Humanity: Through His death and resurrection, Jesus gave mankind a fair hearing. John 3:16 reveals that His sacrifice is the balance of justice for all. - No Condemnation in Christ: Romans 8:1 and Romans 5:1 assure us that those who accept His finished work are at peace with God and cannot be condemned by Christ. - Consequences vs. Condemnation: While sin has consequences, believers are not condemned for sins already judged at the Cross. - Jesus as Savior and Judge: He cannot contradict His own work. He saves and sustains, not condemns those He has redeemed. - Intercession in Action: Jesus continually pleads our cause before the Father, establishing our justification (1 John 2; Hebrews 7:25). His intercession is not only through prayer but also through His blood. - Living in Consciousness of His Advocacy: Our eternal salvation rests on Christ's finished work and His ongoing advocacy. This is not a license to sin but a call to love God more deeply and walk in the light (1 John 1:6–7). Key Notes: - Jesus' intercession secures believers against condemnation. - The devil accuses, but only Christ judges. - Salvation in Christ is both fair and final, anchored in His death and resurrection. - Intercession is continuous, ensuring peace with God and fellowship with other believers. - Christ's advocacy inspires us to live faithfully, knowing He is working overtime to secure us in His salvation. Tune in to the GRACELIFECOMI Podcast for this enlightening session as we reflect on the miracle of Christ's intercession, a ministry that assures us of peace, justification, and eternal security in Him. Grace to you. Jesus is Lord.

Why are Christians so mean to each other? Jesus said, “Do not judge.”So why does judgment feel so common, especially inside the church? In this episode of No Condemnation, John Ortberg explores one of the most uncomfortable and honest questions facing followers of Jesus today. Drawing from the life of William Tyndale, the insights of Dallas Willard, and the words of Jesus himself, John uncovers how condemnation quietly takes root among people of faith and why being “right” can slowly replace being Christlike.Today's Resources:Dallas Willard, Renovation of the HeartWilliam Tyndale, Preface to the New Testament
What if the loudest voice in your head isn't telling the truth about you? We open Romans 8 and get painfully honest about the difference between guilt and shame, why condemnation crushes identity, and how surrender to Jesus opens the door to real freedom. This isn't theory. It's Scripture paired with neuroscience, testimony, and practical steps that help you stop staring into the rearview mirror and actually drive toward a bright 2026.We share how small, consistent practices—daily time in the Bible, a Christ-centered church, and a trusted small group—reshape the stories we believe. You'll hear why neuroplasticity matters for spiritual growth, how Scripture-based self-talk rewires the mind, and what happens when eighteen strangers sit in a room, tell the truth, and discover they're not alone. From parenting analogies that illuminate God's unwavering love to the simple act of writing three focused prayers for the year, we map a path that is clear, doable, and anchored in grace. If shame has been telling you that your worst moment defines you, come hear how love speaks a better word. We get practical about consistency, community, and the courage to slow down and look people in the eye. Expect encouragement, concrete tools, and a strong reminder: there is no condemnation for those in Christ. A new MP3 sermon from Truth For Life - Alistair Begg is now available on SermonAudio with the following details: Title: Jan. 23, 2026: No Condemnation in Christ Subtitle: Messages from Truth For Life Speaker: Alistair Begg Broadcaster: Truth For Life - Alistair Begg Event: Radio Broadcast Date: 1/23/2026 Length: 43 min.
The seventeenth-century minister Thomas Jacomb once wrote of Romans 8, “From first to last, it is high gospel.” Beginning with “no condemnation” and ending with the assurance that nothing can separate us from God's love, it is one of the most magisterial and encouraging chapters in all of Scripture. In this message, Alistair Begg begins a short tour through its profound depths, helping us to grasp the solution to the predicament of sin, the necessity of being “in Christ,” the relationship between freedom and the law, and the call to walk in newness of life by God's Spirit.
We live in a culture of condemnation: cancel culture, self-judgment, outrage, and quiet shame. Most of us are swimming in it without even realizing it.But the good news of Jesus points to a radically different reality: “There is now no condemnation.”In this episode, John Ortberg explores why condemnation feels so normal, how it shapes both our inner lives and our public conversations, and what it looks like to become a person of blessing instead of judgment. Along the way, we reflect on the remarkable true story of a six-year-old girl who responded to hatred not with fear or anger, but with prayer—and changed history in the process.Today's Resources:Robert Coles, The Story of Ruby BridgesDallas Willard, The Divine Conspiracy

At the heart of this message lies one of the most liberating declarations in all of Scripture: 'Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus.' This single verse from Romans 8:1 serves as a gateway into understanding what it truly means to live as a believer. We're reminded that just as Paris had to completely demolish its condemned districts rather than merely renovate them, God doesn't simply improve our old lives—He resurrects us entirely. This isn't about behavior modification or trying harder to be better Christians. It's about recognizing that condemnation, which always leads to death, has been completely removed through Christ's sacrifice on the cross. The message challenges us to stop living with bowed shoulders under the weight of guilt and instead stand triumphantly in the reality that the sentence of death has been lifted. We're encouraged to understand this as a present-tense reality—not something that happens only in eternity, but right now, in this very moment. The powerful illustration of the classroom where everyone received an 'A' on day one captures this beautifully: we're no longer striving to earn God's approval, but living freely in the approval He's already given us. This transforms everything about how we approach our faith journey, our daily struggles, and our understanding of God's grace.
Becomenew.com/Give Thank you for being on the journey with us. We are so grateful and plan to keep at it.We will return with FRESH teaching from John on January 1st and then again January 19th for our new series: NO CONDEMNATION.
Romans 8:1 is a classic Paul statement. But what does it look like for us to actually live with no condemnation?
"There is therefore now NO CONDEMNATION for those who are in Christ Jesus." We're in Romans chapter 8 today! Join us :)
Imagine standing before a judge, knowing you're guilty, the evidence overwhelming, your failure undeniable. Just as you're about to confess, someone steps between you and the bench, declaring 'not guilty' on your behalf. This is the breathtaking reality Romans 8 reveals to us. We journey from the depths of Romans 7, where we wrestle with our own wretchedness and ask 'who will deliver me from this body of death?' to the triumphant declaration that there is now no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. This isn't just theological theory—it's the lived tension we all experience. We're still in the flesh, still breathing sinful air, still struggling with why we do what we don't want to do. Yet the Spirit of the living God dwells within us. The same Spirit that raised Jesus from the dead lives in our mortal bodies. We're called to set our minds not on the flesh, which leads to death, but on the Spirit, which brings life and peace. This means diving deep into God's Word, letting it dwell richly in us, gathering with other believers to encourage one another, and learning to cry out when we don't even have words—trusting that the Spirit intercedes with groanings too deep for utterance. We're not elevated or special; we're simply people in whom God chooses to dwell, and that changes everything about how we live each ordinary day.**Sermon Notes:****Introduction:**- The speaker, Pastor Will, introduces the series on the book of Romans, specifically focusing on Romans chapter 8.- Emphasizes the significance of Romans 8 as one of the most important chapters in the Bible.**Key Points:**1. **Courtroom Analogy:** - Illustration of a courtroom scene where one is guilty but Jesus steps in, declaring "not guilty." - Romans 8:1 states, "There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus."2. **All Are Guilty:** - Romans 3:23 states all have sinned and fall short. - No hierarchy in Christianity; all are equal before God.3. **No Condemnation:** - Only those in Christ are free from condemnation. - The law exposes sin, highlighting the need for Jesus.4. **Freedom in Christ:** - Those in Christ are set free from the law of sin and death. - Galatians 2:20 discusses living by faith in Christ, not by flesh.5. **Spirit vs. Flesh:** - Believers live in the tension between flesh and Spirit. - Setting the mind on the flesh leads to death, the Spirit leads to life and peace.6. **Holy Spirit's Presence:** - Romans 8:9 emphasizes the Spirit dwelling in believers. - The Spirit is essential; without Him, one does not belong to Christ.7. **Dwelling in the Spirit:** - The Spirit wants to dwell in us, impacting every aspect of life. - Importance of being in God's Word and fellowship for spiritual growth. - Colossians 3:16 encourages letting the word of Christ dwell in us.8. **Prayer and the Spirit's Help:** - The Holy Spirit intercedes for us when we don't have the words. - Romans 8:26 highlights the Spirit's aid in our weakness.**Practical Applications:**1. **Embrace Your Position in Christ:** - Live with the assurance that you are no longer condemned if you are in Christ. - Reflect on the courtroom analogy when guilt arises.2. **Cultivate Mindset on the Spirit:** - Regularly engage with scripture; let it shape your thoughts and actions. - Seek spiritual fellowship and accountability within the church community.3. **Invite the Holy Spirit to Indwell You:** - Begin each day in prayer, asking for the Holy Spirit's guidance and presence. - Make time for worship and reflection, allowing God to dwell in your daily life.4. **Rely on the Spirit in Weakness:** - When struggling, trust that the Holy Spirit intercedes even when words fail. - Be persistent in prayer and quiet time with God.**Discussion Questions:**1. This past weekend, Pastor Jim presented us with “The List.” The List is comprised of 1st Corinthians 13:4–8, which is the love chapter and Galatians 5:22, which lists the fruit of the spirit. He said, “God expects us to love others like it's listed in these verses. It's a goal for us to achieve. And, really, this is how God loves us.”The Lord asked Pastor Jim to examine his life in comparison to the items on the lists to see how he stacks up, and then to use the outcome of the examination to bring about change where needed. After he went through the list, he asked the congregation, “When we went through those 22 things on the list, raise your hand if you felt any condemnation at all.” Many raised their hands. He said, “To those people who raised their hands, what that says is you do not completely believe or understand the cross, the resurrection, and what comes with it. If you think God is condemning you, you have no faith.”Our Links–• Join The Prayer Movement!: https://theprayermovement.com• Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/livingwordmn• Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/livingwordmn• Stay up to date with all things LWCC at https://www.LWCC.org• Join our Online Church community here: https://www.lwcc.org/onlinechurch• Give online: https://www.lwcc.org/give/• If you recently committed your life to God, we'd like to give you a free eBook to help you in your spiritual journey.
