Playstation Video Game Community and Indie Interview Podcast
This week we speak to classical composer turned game composer turned classic composer Tony Manfredonia about breaking into the music composition side of the gaming world. We highlight his past and upcoming projects, talk about how his two worlds influence one another, and coin the term for a new genre of music, or so we would like to think! It's a great episode that will be our final here for this podcast, but also the link to our upcoming November launch of our new podcast, Platinum Popped: a Playstation Podcast. Check it all out inside!
It's here! The final episode, or at least until the hiatus is over, of our podcast! We want to rebrand, and more is coming on that soon, but for now we go out with a bang talking about Avengers Beta Impressions. What works and what does not, and does Spider Man being a PS exclusive have us any more interested in this game? Will we buy it day 1 or not at all? Matt and I also discover our love for Fall Guys, the best PS Plus new game to debut since Rocket League on the service. It's a packed week of topics and we look forward to hearing what you think!
Alright, it is time for another week of conversation around the Playstation nation! This week, it feels like there i a lot of Ghost of Tsushima news, and with good cause, as Rob and Matt have begun to dive in and are absolutely smitten with what they played so far. Ubisoft cannot stay out of the news, and there's a few other little pieces that caught our eye this week. The PS BLOG is still missing games, so we took the liberty of finding them with some help, and making up descriptions for just a few (so we can get back to Ghost!).
Looks like Sony knows something we do not, ramping up production of the console. There's also plenty of conversation going around about the Dualsense 5, and of course another week means more news about AC: Valhalla. Overall, it's a slow week for news, and not much happening we didn't already know, but we still cover it anyway!
That's right, Ubisoft went hard this week, on more open worlds. We saw their big 3 games for the upcoming fall and early spring of 2021, Far Cry 6, Watch Dogs: Legion, and AC Valhalla. But, did they impress? What does this mean when Cyberpunk goes head to head with Valhalla? and why are so many execs being accused of sexual misconduct? They weren't the only piece of news this week as we also hit the highlights surrounding Last of Us 2 sales, the importance of more possible Sony acquisitions, PS5 box art, and a Horizon Forbidden West exit. There's even more than that too. Plus, we lament the PS Drop and See you Soon.
This week it's all about the price of entry. The cost seems to be going up for next gen, and we are not surprised. We take a few moments to reflect on it and determine the good and bad of it. There's also lots of controversy over the Last of Us Part II still, with the voice actors getting threats from all directions. It's unwarranted, and here's why. Oh, and plenty of other news came soaring across the desk about Far Cry 6 potential reveals and Ubisoft's entrance into the Battle Royale genre. There's still no blog drop, but we got you covered as Rob went to the PS store for answers about what other than Iron Man VR is coming out this week.
It didn't take long for The Last of Us Part II to rile even more feathers, and spawn its own Change.org petition. We discuss the issues behind such a petition, our initial spoiler free impressions of the game after a few hours with it, and our initial concerns. It's also a week full of gaming news for Cyberpunk and Playstation 5. Finally, the PS BLOG drop has been a mess the past few weeks and we take measures into our own hands, doing an improv style description system for each game.
It's time, it's time, it's VAD--- er Playstation time! We watched it live with you on Youtube and Twitch, and now we are recording right after. We cover as many games as we can remember we wrote down, talk about the design of the console, and rate Sony on 1-10 for its presentation. We determine what games we are most excited for, and look at which ones we were underwhelmed by as well. Then it is a brief stint through the news of the week. Short, sweet, and to the point, it's an early special edition of the PS Podcast where we are 1 community and you are too!
In times of unrest as we have now, companies begin stepping up to show their solidarity, not only in vocalizing their support, but by delaying their events. We cover those delays, talk about when some of them will come to fruition, and the rest of a sparse news week. We also highlight some of our favorite black characters from games that we both loved for their character and for the impression their story left on us. Finally, we solve the mystery of the Playstation Blog and make a decision about the upcoming weeks!
Recorded before the delay of the PS5 event, we talk about what we wanted to see this week, the Last of Us Part II reveal from last week, the latest in the past week's news, and of course, lament the lack of a PSBLOG drop for new games on the store!
This week Matt's moving out, of his apartment! So I subbed in the all knowledgeable Adam, or Dukane the Wizard, a PSVR Youtube Content Creator. We highlight what else but the news! This week also includes the Iron Man VR Demo and our thoughts on why Sony could have a home run on their hands if they play their cards right. Speaking of VR, should PSNow include PSVR games in the subscription, and why does PSPLUS not have them yet either? Of course, we also explore our enthusiasm over Ghost of Tsushima as more details emerge, Rob also tackles the drop alone, and Adam tells us about Uni and getting into game development. It might seem like a bit of a non-sequitur episode, but trust us, it all makes perfect sense. Come on in!
It's been an Unreal week with Unreal Engine 5 and Sony showing off the latest assets for the next gen, as well as Ghost of Tsushima makes itself seen in an extended state of play. Oh, and there's photo mode in Nioh 2 now, which makes Rob want photo mode to be the standard for all games going forward. We also discuss the news over at Ubisoft and its lawsuit, Fallout76 has us still disinterested, and there's even some more AC Valhalla news on the way. It's a loaded week and we want to run down all the latest from the past for you.
A deliciously filled week full of news last week, including PS5 news, MK11's pricey expansion pack, Prince of Persia rumors abound, Doom divorces, THQ plays trading cards with its IP's, and a fruitful week on the PSN with new games too! It's a lot to take in and we do our best to parse through it and decide whether or not the price is right for MK11, how we feel about a shorter AC Valhalla experience, and if, and when Tony Hawk releases we will care about it. Come on in!
Whoa, that escalated quickly did it not? Last week we saw an AC:Valhalla trailer released, Last of Us Part 2 not only had leak issues but a release date revealed, Ghost of Tsushima also dropped a new date, PS Plus May games garnered a very hostile reaction online, and Matt and I finally dove into PSNOW s we could talk about it properly. It's been one busy week and that does not include the Keighley creation of Summer Game Fest also announced to begin in May and last through August. We tackle it all, take on the PS Drop, and what we've been playing as well. It's a packed week condensed into the biggest and best for you!
Last week was big for Horizon Zero Dawn 2 news, NPD sales showed us that despite Coronavirus you cannot slow down COD and Animal Crossing, and of course we ask the all important question: Do Gamers ever know what we want? We highlight this in light of core Fortnite players issues with the game, but broaden to talk about gaming as a whole. There's also the PSBlog drop, which sees exciting games coming out this week, and the highlights and low lights of what we've been playing. Come on in!
This week we explore the news and all it holds from a Crysis remake to COD Warfare cheaters causing crossplay issues for console players. We also discuss the Outer Worlds revelation that current consoles held back certain aspects of development, and the current PSNOW discount that'll snag a whole year worth of trying the service out at a discount. It's another week of the Drop too as our total PSN games for the year increases again this week.
Well well, our Spidey Dualsense is tingling because here we are with the reveal of Sony's new controller the DualSense for PS5. We react to it, talk about some of the best mock ups we've seen, run down the specs of what we know and why everyone seems concerned about getting it dirty. We talk E3's failure for a digital event, what that means for their future, as well as Godfall's PS5 stance on PS4 versions. There's a smattering of news from CD ProjektRed and we highlight the new PSN games for the week!
Well, Covid-19 strikes again! Or does it? The Last of Us Part II received another delay, and so did Iron Man VR. Although this appears to be a distribution issue and not work related, we can't help but speculate and ponder based on the wording of some press releases what might be going on with Naughty Dog's game. We also reflect on the current Spring sale Sony has going on and if it's worth our dollars. We look at the Playstation Blog, cover what we've been playing, and hit up some of the good news that Sony and others are doing during this pandemic. We continue to bring you the best we can every week while you are stuck indoors!
This week, we highlight what we've been paying in the form of Twin Breaker: A Sacred Symbols Adventure, as well as Matt's undying love for AC:Odyssey. Then it's off to the races, sort of, as we talk slowing down the PSN speeds, April's leaked PS PLUS games, and that PS5 will not be delayed apparently. Matt and Rob also cover the PS Drop, and some feel good news about CD Projekt Red.
As countries bare down under the brunt of Covid-19 one consumer friendly business seeks to remain open despite everyone's best interests. We talk about Gamestop being labeled as essential, and the underlying message being conveyed by their concern. It's also a great time to talk about tackling your backlog and what type of games to tackle as far as Matt is concerned. Sony and Cerny held a press conference that did, well just what we expected it to do. We cover the drop somewhere in there too as we see new releases coming digital as safe and sound as ever.
It's another week as we hunker down to stay indoors. Means plenty of time for gaming right? But have you ever wrestled with the desire to play, and then not play at all? We discuss for a bit how we struggle to play when we actually have time. We talk about our two picks for shorter games you can blow through in a sitting and try to predict whether or not we will see delays in the PS5, or even the games coming out. Rob and Matt try to parse through the potential possibilities. Finally, we cut to the chase on the PS Drop for the week; what games get to stay in the boat and stay afloat to play, what games are outta the boat?
Goodnight and Goodluck, or so it would seem to E3. With the Coronavirus running rampant around the L.A. area and across the world, it seems the world's biggest electronic expo is on the edge of extinction. We discuss whether or not this could be the end of E3 for good, and what happens if the show does not go on this year. WE spend some time highlighting Playstation Productions and what they could be cooking up beyond Twisted Metal, Uncharted, and the new Last of Us HBO series. There's a few other pieces of news we found worth investigating before we finally cover the PS blog and the now infamous drop of games.
It's been a weird 2020. First we got a bunch of game delays, then we hit issues with new consoles not being revealed, and now GDC has been cancelled with E3 still planning to forge ahead. Yet, where will this all lead? With health concerns abound, should these trade shows adopt a much simpler State of Play format? Would they lose out on money to great to succeed in such a format? And where does this leave PS5 devs? Should the supposed flash memory and potential console delay lead us down the path of considering a delay of consoles, and more devs adopt Square Enix's approach of staying on the PS4? Finally we briefly highlight how nice it has been to be able to tackle our backlogs, and look forward to the games coming out this week. It's all right here inside, so come on in!
It's a different kind of brew this week, as we speak not only the usual Playstation Blog and what we've been playing, but we cook up the homebrew/dev scene with EmeraldNova, a game developer for the Sega Saturn. We talk about the growth of the scene, how difficult it can be to homebrew, and what he sees as the future potential for Saturn and for himself as a developer.
It's that time of week as we hit up the news, discuss what properties Disney should developers tackle next, if Insomniac was a good get for the asking price Sony paid, and whether or not Division 2 is worth jumping in at it's ultimate low price on the PSN. Plus, we run down the PS Drop of new games for the week as well.
Loads of news this week surrounding games, surrounding stories, surrounding Xbox and Nintendo, and some competitor of theirs that is not Playstation, according to Phil Spencer. We discuss if this is true, what it means, and how we view it, along with other news from the week, the Playstation blog, and of course, what we've been playing.
Oh kids, it's time for our 100th episode and we are celebrating it with a new idea to engage all our Patrons! We are also spending some time looking at the news this week, including a survey that asks us, would we like our Switch to run remote play? We, of course want to say yes! Is this a hint at Sony's next gen strategy? We also explore a little bit about Silent Hills rumours, and of course, the PS Drop as we prepare to settle in to a new segment coming soon!
In this penultimate episode (just kidding) we talk about games and bosses that really made us want to rage quit, highlight a few pieces of news in another slow past week in January for gaming, and re-imagine some of our favorite characters and franchises in a little game we call, What If? It's a packed week, and you get more bang for your buck than usual, so come on in kids.
It's a packed episode this week. First up, we giveaway a wonderful game this week in Freedom Finger, which we give our impressions surrounding it in all its indie goodness. We discuss how it's for, and whether or not it's worth a a full price purchase, on sale, or if you should pass on it completely. Afterwards, we explore the many many delays of 2020. What else can be pushed back, and what does this all mean for the rest of the year, PS5 included? We hit on some of the rest of the big stories of the week, and tackle the latest in the PS Blog drop!
This past week Sony said the best PS5 news is yet to come, and yet they told us plenty more about the future. So what do we think it is? We kick around a few ideas. Plus, Exit the Gungeon is coming soon to consoles, Metacritic announces its games of the decade, and this week there must be at least four Atelier games we have to read off. It's a week full of the good news about Playstation and the world surrounding it!
New episode and new decade! This week we make our January debut as we discuss The Witcher 3 Renaissance from the Netflix bump, and what games are coming in 2020. Will they be a commercial success, failure, or somewhere in between. We take our best stab in the dark based on our own knowledge, and little bit of bias too. There's no blog drop, but plenty of kick ass games on sale as well too. Come on and join us by the fire kids for another episode!
Wow, the holiday means almost no new news to report. However, we refuse to take a week off, and Matt has compiled some of his most notable games of the decade year by year, while Rob made a list of games and the impact they had on the way we play games. It's not exhaustive by any means, but highlights the decade that was gaming from 2010 to 2019. Oh, and we are amazed how many games are coming out this week on the PS Blog too!
We have a special guest this week in Dimitri Adoniou, creator and developer on LoveSick Darlings, a Visual Novel currently live on Kickstarter. He comes by to talk to us about his game, how it can be for more than weebs and anime fans, how Danganronpa and Va-11-Hall-A are the standard for visual novels, and what he wants to share in common with them. Will it come to Switch? Dimitri reveals why that is the perfect platform for VNs. Lastly, we also cover the question he gets asked the most about his game and explore the ins and outs of making a visual novel.
Well, this is awkward. We covered the news from the past week , talked about the blog drop for this week, and of course, gave it a go on what we thought might show up at the Sony State of Play on Tuesday December 10th. How did we do? Well, take a listen at this pre-state of play recording and tell us what you think! We also talked about Cross-gen titles, and how we think they should work. This, well, isn't as big of a deal as you would think. So come on in, gather around, and hear what we have to say.
This year was, according to most critics, a less than stellar year in gaming. We decided to take a look and see what 2019 might be remembered for and which games might be the best choice as we wrap up the year. Next week will be our awards, but for now let's dive into what made this year memorable! We also had some fun with Fallen Order Patch notes too. Oh, and we spend a good chunk of change on the PS Drop.
Ah yes, the most wonderful time of the year is upon us: Black Friday Gaming. Matt takes umbrage with it, and Rob is not so sure he should as December is the most wonderful gaming time of the year. We discuss the pros and cons of gaming on the cheap during this time of year, and move into a conversation about why some trophies are just not fair the way they build them into the gaming experience. Plus, we highlight another potential PS5 ecosystem quality of life update. The Blog is here too with the latest game releases.
It's a week of rumors from PS5 Cartridges to COD Modern Warfare leaks and everything in between. WE tackle the news of the past week, acknowledge how awesome Death Stranding is, spend way too much time talking about what we are playing, and look forward to the games releasing this week. It's all here and all inside!
It's about that time for Jedi Fallen Order to release, and this week we want to get a head start on predicting everything about it, from sales to hours to beat to complaints and of course review scores. We also tackle some of the news from the past week, and question the PS5 news we keep hearing about.
This week we cover the divisive nature of Death Stranding, whether PS5 should adopt Xbox's upgrade policy and its drawbacks, we discuss our excitement over Netflix's Witcher series, and wrap up the week by gathering around the week's releases to tell some tales.
This week we speculate on what Bluepoint could be making for PS5, what we want to see come back from PS1 and PS2 as a remaster, make fun of Fallout76 and its premium servers, talk Last of Us 2 delay, and hit up the PS BLOG from the past week. It's a good episode that highlights the news of the past week, and has some great ideas for that eventual Twisted Metal remaster!
The past week, well, post PS5 news, and pre EGX and anything else was a bit slow. WE still covered the highlights anyway and Matt talked about Fortnite Season 2' debut. We covered a little bit about Miyazaki's favorite souls game, and of course, the games for the week. Come on by!
Last week Sony dropped a lot of new info on the PS5, and we want in. We explain our feelings and reactions, consider a few ideas surrounding it, and generally agree Xbox needs to show us what they've got as well. We hit on some Death Stranding news, cover the blog, and a favorite game of ours returns in a new form!
This week PS NOW finally caught up with Xbox Game Pass as Sony seems to be prepping for next generation, and recognizing the tea leaves of the future. We discuss if it is too little too late, or if throwing in some of the best first party exclusives and a rotation of games will be enough to convince anyone to dive in who has not already. We cover the rest of last week's biggest news, our love to Switch grows, and Matt and Rob enjoy seeing what is out this past week on the PSN.
This week we review the state of play, discuss the games revealed, and how it might have been the best one we've seen yet. We also cover the expectations, and and highlight our new love for the Nintendo Switch (Lite).
This week we hit up the news a bit early in the week to talk Gamestop's woes, Ubisoft's lack of support for smaller titles moving forward, and how this all can begin to shape what should already be an interesting 2020. We also hit up the PS Drop, or at least Matt does, and discover that this week is a bit quieter as we head into the mega Fall gaming lineups.
This week we cover what we've been playing of course, but we also dive into some news surrounding Playstation hits, the departure of a creative director from a studio with a game still very much in development, and tackle the burning question of genre changes among established series. Our focus for this week, Yakuza 7 and its' shifting genre to action RPG. We also highlight demo progress and our desire to see more games save your progress if you've worked through the opening, or if you've leveled your character to a certain point. Lastly, it's the best week ever for video game releases. Well, not ever, but the best week yet this year.
This week we address PS5 rumors, talk why we are so hyped for Control (spoilercast next week) and cover Remnant from the Ashes, or Rob's love of it. We also cover some of the bigger topics from the week and explore what's coming out on the PSN!
This week we go a little long on the news, so much that it dominates the conversation. We cover the important topics regarding studio acquisitions, collector's editions, and more as we slowly realize 90% of the news this week came from THQ Nordic. Plus we show off how much we love the PS BLOG Drop, and Rob never shuts up again about Greedfall.
That's right, I am sure every other podcast wants to cover it, and if not, we will! This week we look at whether the end of an era in loot boxes is coming, or if the ESA will fail to uphold those standards, or even be around to enforce them. Plus we cover a bunch of other good news, and lastly, tackle the newest and best on the PS blog.
New week, new podcast. We had a rough time between Rob's tongue twisters to Matt's tech issues, but we survived! Here we are to talk about Playstation's new tournaments, Ray Tracing, and Death Stranding as a revolutionary new way to play games! We dive into some news, and of course, give you the latest games released on Playstation. Come on in!
This week we tackle a variety of topics. We hit up the value of EA Access on the PS4 and who it might be for right now, we cover the Big Summer PSN 4 Week sale by talking about some of the games worth buying while on sale, and Rob wraps it up by covering the games coming out the rest of the year that you will probably miss because of Borderlands and COD and others that tend to dominate the news. We have some mic issues clearly too we need to work out! Enjoy!
