In this very special episode of Trophy Talk Kevin and Max team up to talk about games that are still only playable on PlayStation 3. Throughout the episode Kevin gets a little trigger-happy with the soundboard and Max goes through a few beers to quell the frustration of Sony's hubris. First they run through some special plat shoutouts, and then Max sprints at a record pace through the list of games mentioned in the previous PS1, PS2, and PSP episodes of the Mooglecast. Starting off the main topic of the show they each talk about the many obvious games like the Resistance, Infamous, Motorstorm, etc. They also bring up some of the other lesser talked about games like Puppeteer and Mod Nation Racers. Then there are loads of 3rd-party games to talk about like Wet and Castlevania Lords of Shadow. While many of them can be played on the current XBOX, we still want to play the games with the feel of a Dualsense in our hands and to earn a few trophies while basking in the greatness of what was the PS3. They also talk about the many indies that were released only as downloads when these were Sony's first steps into the digital frontier. I got a chance to go hands-on with Silent Hill: Townfall at a private preview event in LA, and I have to say — this one is something special. Three hours with the game, a decorated hotel setup themed around the Scottish town of Saint Amelia, and a live Q&A with writer/director Jon McLennan from ScreenBurn and series producer Akimoto-san from Konami. Yeah, it was that kind of event.This episode is my full breakdown of what I saw, what surprised me, and why I think this might be one of the most important Silent Hill games ever made.We talk the first-person perspective shift and why it works, the CRTV mechanic that replaces the classic radio in the freshest way possible, the gyroscopic DualSense puzzle design, the 2.35:1 cinemascope presentation, and the five endings — including some secret ones. We also get into the combat, which is brutal and deliberate in the best way, and the stealth system that puts you in genuine danger at every turn.

Where does the buck stop, exactly? And how lucky is Sony and the PlayStation brand that they've been able to coast almost entirely on external content and commercial inertia all the while? The last couple of weeks for Bungie have been nothing short of catastrophic, calling into question whether their upcoming extraction shooter Marathon has any chance at all in finding market success. Grand Theft Auto VI promises to be the biggest video game (and likely entertainment product, full stop) in history. But unfortunately, it's been delayed. It'll come out just over a year from when this episode publishes, and a brand new trailer indicates it'll launch with all of GTA's essential trappings: Cars, guns, insane characters, a crazy story, and -- of course! -- lots and lots of crime.
