Fortify the walls, ready your defenses and for heaven's sake, be careful where you swing that hammer—this week we're talking about Season 4's action-packed sixth episode! With Yennefer leading the charge at Montecalvo, we're paying tribute to Anya Chalotra with a bottle of Nirvana Indian Single Malt Whisky and a discussion that asks all the hard questions: Why doesn't Philippa just use magic? How did we wind up with druids? Was Vilgefortz's magical facelift worth it? (We may think so, but we doubt the mages who sacrificed themselves for it agree.) And what the heck is that gunk that's in everyone's hair anyhow? We also discuss the episode's many deaths, question what some sorceresses wear into battle and explain why a little child neglect goes a long way when it comes to Leo Bonhart.

We start with new reports claiming The Witcher 3 is set to receive a brand-new paid DLC in May 2026, which could serve as the official kickoff for The Witcher 4's marketing campaign, currently expected to launch in Q4 2027. We discuss what a return to The Witcher 3 means nearly a decade later and whether this strategy benefits CD Projekt RED. Next, we dive into a newly discovered Sony patent for an AI-powered in-game assistant, designed to help players overcome challenges — or potentially complete sections of games for them. We debate the implications for accessibility, player agency, and the future of game design. We also cover reports that MachineGames is working on Wolfenstein 3, alongside a Rainbow Six Siege–style multiplayer project, as well as claims that StarCraft shooters and Fallout remakes may be in development at Xbox. Plus, we analyze the latest GTA 6 update from Jason Schreier, including why the game is reportedly not content-complete, what that means for its release window, and why PlayStation is said to be the primary platform anchoring Sony's future lineup. To close out the show, we tackle a big industry question: How do we fix the modern video game industry? From budgets and studio size to jobs, AI, leadership, and sustainability, we discuss what needs to change — and what's already working. We also hit Flash News, including PlayStation's new Hyperpop PS5 accessory collection and the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games for January, before wrapping up with Whatcha Been Playin'?
Whoa, Shuhei! We’ve got a lot to talk about. Stack it up! Join Tricky, Matt, Alex and Yield as they discuss, among other things, Astro Bot, Arc Raiders, and Dispatch. What’s more, we share our thoughts on Doug Bowser’s departure from Nintendo of America, and we ponder the impact of CD Projekt Red divesting from GOG (Good Old Games). And if you think that’s all, then you’ve got another thing coming! We hit the high notes, and we hit the low notes, but we’ll always bring the banter. What are you waiting for? Dive in! As always, the opinions fly fast and heavy! Look out for this super-sized show, as the seemingly smallest conversation veers off into a multiverse of chit-chat. Sounds cool, huh? That’s the fancy way of saying “derailment.” And there’s plenty of that to go around! Let’s dance, Heroes of the XMB! We hope you brought your appetite…for drunken discussion! We're back with our first episode of 2026, where we're diving into Season 4's celebration of camping out (both literally and figuratively) and baring your soul over a bowl of fish soup. Accompanied by a bottle of True Story Finished Bourbon, we share some surprisingly strong opinions about the episode's infamous musical interlude, declare our undying love for random nonsense, and explain how while he may no longer drink blood, Regis clearly has no problem drinking Marvel's milkshake. We also debate whether sick = sexy when it comes to Jaskier, formally declare that Milva's the smartest person in the room and actually agree on a Kaer Moron for once. It's a tasty, tantalizing talk about the most mouthwatering episode of the season that's guaranteed to leave you hungry for everything to come. (Note to self: In the future, don't write these episode descriptions before you've had dinner.)
It's the first Arcade episode of the new year! If you're looking for spoilers, we're serving them straight up! Our discussion of “Crossroads of Ravens” continues as we discuss Geralt's shocking quest to…well, that would be telling. But be warned that the entire novel is fair game this week as we unpack the details of the book's pivotal final act. But first, we share some history about Early Times Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon (did you know it was once the most popular bourbon in the United States?) before we refill our glasses and drink deeply of this surprisingly good value-priced whiskey and of Geralt's youthful exploits, both of which left us dizzy and wanting more. Plus, we answer a few listener questions about the book, pick our Kaer Morons and offer up a pair of toasts…all while managing to stay mostly clear and coherent, despite having to say the names “Vrai Natteravn” and “Estevan Trillo da Cunha” a few too many times.

Evil Hat Productions has opened submissions for new role-playing games, with a primary focus on titles that utilize the Powered by the Apocalypse, Forged in the Dark, or Powered by Fate systems. They are specifically not publishing 5E material. The company is looking for complete or near-complete game manuscripts between 40,000 and 100,000 words that align with the Evil Hat product lines. They offer full publisher services, including editing, art direction, and public playtesting, and are seeking partners in marketing. Pitches should include a short game description, target audience, setting/tone details, mechanics, and development progress, and should be emailed to submissions@evilhat.com. Paizo has unveiled *Starfinder Galactic Ancestries*, an upcoming 224-page rulebook for *Starfinder Second Edition*, scheduled for release in April 2026 at an MSRP of $69.95. This expansion will introduce 21 brand new playable alien ancestries, such as the worlanisi, bantrid, and novian, alongside expanded options for existing Starfinder species like Vesk and Shirren. The book also provides Starfinder updates for classic fantasy ancestries including elves, gnomes, and goblins. Additionally, it features the Gap-touched versatile heritage and the xenometric android, allowing players to create robotic versions of any Starfinder alien or human. A new official Cyberpunk 2077 trading card game, titled *Cyberpunk TCG*, has been announced by CD Projekt Red and Weird Co. A hype trailer was released on December 9th, coinciding with the fifth anniversary of *Cyberpunk 2077*. The game will draw heavily on the aesthetics and characters of both *Cyberpunk 2077* and the *Cyberpunk: Edgerunners* anime, featuring Legends like Jackie Welles and Judy Alvarez, as well as V and Johnny Silverhand. Developed by a team with experience on games like *Marvel Snap* and *Universus*, the TCG is designed to be accessible to new players while offering depth for enthusiasts, with a crowdfunding campaign slated for 2026. A massive month-long sale is currently running on DriveThruRPG for the *Fallout RPG* line from Modiphius. Customers can save 33% on nearly every title, including the 438-page Core Rulebook, which uses the 2d20 cinematic roleplaying system and draws lore primarily from the Bethesda video games, particularly *Fallout 4*. The sale is an opportunity to acquire core books and expansions, such as the *Gamemaster's Toolkit*, the *Winter of Atom* campaign, or the *Wanderer's Guide Book*. Free Quickstart rules are also available for newcomers. #evilhat #starfinder #cyberpunkTCG #falloutrpg Evil Hat Game Submissions: https://evilhat.com/game-submissions/ Fallout RPG Sale: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/ja/product/366742/fallout-the-roleplaying-game-core-rulebook-pdf?affiliate_id=2081746 Free Guild Ball Starter Set: https://steamforged.com/products/guild-ball-starter-kit Warmachine on MyMiniFactory: https://mmf.io/upturned Mantic Companion App: https://companion.manticgames.com/ Use our Referral code: MCTXEE Support us by Shopping at Miniature Market (afilliate link): https://miniature-market.sjv.io/K0yj7n Support Us by Shopping on DTRPG (afilliate link): https://www.drivethrurpg.com?affiliate_id=2081746 Matt’s DriveThruRPG Publications: https://www.drivethrurpg.com/browse.php?author=Matthew%20Robinson https://substack.com/@matthewrobinson3 Chris on social media: https://hyvemynd.itch.io/ Abusecartoons Weekly Cartoons: http://www.abusecartoons.com/ https://www.twitch.tv/abusecartoons Support Us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/upturnedtable Give us a tip on our livestream: https://streamlabs.com/upturnedtabletop/tip Donate or give us a tip on Paypal: https://www.paypal.com/ncp/payment/2754JZFW2QZU4 Intro song is “Chips” by KokoroNoMe https://kokoronome.bandcamp.com/
This week Matt doesn't let out a Death Howl, Eric goes Beyond, and we've got a bunch of small news items to catch up on! Releases: Death Howl & Metroid Prime 4: Beyond
Before Dandelion. Before Ciri. Before Blaviken and Brokilon and baths with Yennefer. Before Geralt found himself following destiny and doing all the impressive things for which he's known, he was a fresh-faced teen stumbling through life, making poor decisions and hanging with people of questionable reputation. (Guess which version we find ourselves relating to!) “Crossroads of Ravens” is the new Witcher novel by author Andrzej Sapkowski that focuses on Geralt's first year on the path. In this first of two episodes discussing the book, we uncap a bottle of Early Times Bottled-in-Bond Bourbon before engaging in a fairly spoiler-free conversation on important literary topics like Geralt getting his first leather jacket, possibly getting his v-card punched and whether the second time's the charm when it comes to fighting strigas. Or would that be the first…? Prequels are confusing, guys!
This week on Nintendo Pow BlockThis week on Nintendo Pow Block, Edward Varnell and Corey Dirrig dive into the latest from the world of Nintendo. They kick things off with early impressions of Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and share their thoughts on Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment after finishing the game. They also break down Netflix's surprise plan to buy Warner Bros. Streaming & Studios for about $82.7 billion, a move that would bring major game studios like Rocksteady and NetherRealm under the Netflix banner if it goes through. From there, the duo discusses Yacht Club Games, which says its long-awaited, Zelda-like Mina the Hollower needs strong sales to keep the studio on solid ground. They also look at CD Projekt Red's ambitious claim that it will release its entire new Witcher trilogy within six years—a timeline many fans and analysts doubt is realistic. On the Switch 2 front, a strange Pikmin 4 listing briefly hinted at an upgraded version before Nintendo pulled it, and a new datamine has fans hoping for Donkey Kong Bananza content in Mario Kart World. All that and more on Nintendo Pow Block!Follow our Hosts: Edward Varnell, Cofounder of Boss Rush NetworkCorey Dirrig, Founder of Boss Rush Media and the Boss Rush NetworkJoin the Boss Rush Community: Join the Boss Rush Network Community DiscordFollow Boss Rush Network: Follow Boss Rush Network on X/Twitter, Bluesky, Facebook, LinkedIn, Threads, and InstagramSupport Boss Rush Network:Support Boss Rush on Patreon and buy merch on our Store. Despite any gripes with Xbox this year, there's no denying that 2026 presents a fun challenge for them. Fable, Forza Horizon 6, Halo, and Gears Of War E-Day are all slated to drop next year. However, a new wrinkle has been introduced in the ambitious RPG, Clockwork Revolution, which hails from inXile Entertainment. After a seven minute trailer from this summer's showcase, we felt this thing had to be ready to go soon. Sadly, the RPG titan tempered our expectations when the trailer ended with the familiar statement from its initial reveal: "Coming in due time." Well, if a LinkedIn profile is to be believed, Clockwork Revolution may join the fray of a busy year for the "biggest publisher in gaming." Naturally, we hone in on GTA 6 which creates a splash radius so large that every publisher will be avoiding them for the fall. How Xbox navigates this will be interesting as we have yet to consider overdue titles like State Of Decay 3 and third party deals. Buckle up, friends! It's going to be a wild ride. In today's Daily Fix:In a recent financial call, CD Projekt may have revealed its release plans for the next Witcher trilogy. The Witcher 4 is currently in development with no definitive release date, but CD Projekt wants The Witcher 5 and 6 to follow closely behind, with the goal of releasing those next three games within a 6-year window. Developer CD Projekt RED is not known for rushing its game releases, but the team attributes Unreal Engine 5 as helping to speed up their process. In other news, a new leak of development footage from Grand Theft Auto 6 has hit the internet, before quickly being scrubbed by Rockstar Games. However, the new footage didn't reveal much, just some animation tests and near-confirmation that a bike rental service will be included in the game. Exciting. And finally, IO Interactive has its hands full with 007: First Light, but it will return to the Hitman universe with the brand-new Hitman 4 some time in the future.
In this discussion of Season 4's third episode, we somberly discuss the tragic death of—um, who? Beata? Who the heck is Beata? Sadly, the young refugee was struck down just as we were getting to know…well, pretty much anything about her. But that's okay, we have plenty of other things to discuss over our bottle of Hye-Land 12-Year Single Malt Armenian Whiskey. Like how Regis is clearly just a regular, ordinary human that just happens to have remarkable pain tolerance. And how wearing a bra on the outside of your dress may actually be quite practical. And how you really should aspire to do more with your magical abilities than to be turned into portal goo. But mostly how disappointed we were that Geralt of Rawvia and Yennefer of Bangerberg didn't actually use that unicorn they had on stage. But hey, we DID get the debut of Leo Bonhart, who mercilessly took the life of—wait, what was that Witcher's name again?

What's better than getting a chance to meet a Witcher author? How about meeting two? When Whiskey with Witcher Special Correspondent Rebekah Rodriguez-Lynn heard that Andrzej Sapkowski and Joey Batey—whose debut novel, “It's Not a Cult,” was just released in the UK—were both embarking on book tours at the same time, she couldn't resist a trip overseas. And we couldn't resist having her on the podcast to tell us all about it! What was it like meeting and hanging out with Batey's fans? How does he balance acting, writing and performing with his band? And is Sapkowski really as crotchety as people seem to think? Plus, Rebekah reveals what the Witcher creator thinks about the book's English translation, why he doesn't have favorite characters and whether “Crossroads of Ravens” is likely to be the last Witcher novel. The answers just might surprise you!

Season 4's sophomore episode features some thieving Rats, a wandering Yen and a totally normal, not at all strange barber surgeon named Regis. Played by a scene-stealing Laurence Fishburne, Regis is also a home distiller and the reason we sought out a bottle of the gothic af Von Payne Black Blended Whiskey to pair this one with. (The fact that it also looks a little bit like blood is just a coincidence, we swear.) While we both agree that the newest member of Geralt's hansa is a delight, we're not at all aligned when it comes to choosing our favorite member of the Rats, deciding whether someone should give Jaskier a sword and counting up this week's “Hmms.” But we're still both very confused about what's going on with Geralt's pants, so at least there's that. Season 4 has finally arrived and we're welcoming it back in grand style with this look at its first episode—the good (hello, Liam…), the bad (…and Nimue…), and the WTF (…uh, Keira?!?). Over a bottle of Starward Two-Fold, Tim proudly redeclares his love for Milva, while Valerie finds much to appreciate in new character Stefan Skellen…even if she keeps getting him mixed up with Stellan Skarsgård. We also debate the merits of blood splatters, get to the bottom of Yen's portaling problem and settle the question about which actor looks better in Geralt's wig. Plus, we bring back our “hmm” count, elaborate on some book differences and shoot some terrible banana liqueur that haunts our nightmares to this day. In short, it's a truly generous pour of an episode…and we're just getting started! Hold music: "Local Forecast - Slower" by Kevin MacLeod
