PS This is Awesome: Episode 374 - Doom Drops, Marines Rise, and Oblivion LoomsFred took a break from Octopath Traveler 2 this week, but he did boot up Space Marine 2 to check out the big new free update. We'll dig into his thoughts on that later in the episode. Jake finally beat Robocop: Rogue City and shares with us his specs. He also started playing a game called Anno MutationemNo listener feedback this week—y'all must be as busy as we are. Let's get into what's going on in the world of PlayStation.Bethesda fans, mark your calendars—there's an official Oblivion Remastered announcement coming on April 22. We've been hearing rumors forever, but this is the real deal. Meanwhile, DOOM: The Dark Ages just dropped its official trailer. The game launches May 15, 2025, and the trailer is an interesting mix—starting off pretty story-heavy before unleashing that signature DOOM gameplay, backed by some face-melting metal. You're playing as “The Slayer,” naturally. It looks awesome. There's a new showcase on the scene called Galaxies, focused on indie and first-look games. It streamed exclusively on Twitch and featured titles like SPINE, Firebreak (Remedy's next project), and Clair Obscur. Definitely one to keep on your radar if you're into the lesser-known gems.Sony dropped a teardown video of the PS5 Pro over on the PlayStation Blog if you're into hardware stuff. We also got more details on the Days Gone Remastered, which will feature new modes like Horde Assault: Survival Arcade, Permadeath, and Speedrun mode—sounds like they're giving fans a lot more to sink their teeth into. And for those still curious about Marathon, PlayStation Blog has posted a full gameplay overview. PS This is Awesome: Episode 361Fred is almost finished with Final Fantasy XVI, while Jake just wrapped up Trepang 2! Now he's on the hunt for his next big AAA adventure. If you have suggestions, let him know!In this episode, we're diving into The Future of PlayStation. We reflect on how Sony has shaped the gaming landscape over the years, from introducing 3D graphics and CD-quality sound in 1994 to championing indie developers and story-driven single-player games. We explore key innovations like the DualShock controller, Blu-ray integration, and the rise of online services with the PS4.As for the future, what's next for PlayStation? Cloud gaming is gaining ground, but with live service games faltering, Sony might need to rethink its strategy. Could we see a move toward Early Access, more PC integration, or a resurgence of multiplayer modes in single-player games? Plus, we speculate about which franchises and studios—like Naughty Dog and Uncharted—should lead the charge. In news, the rumored State of Play in February has us wondering what surprises are in store. Meanwhile, Arken Age is out now on PSVR2, earning high praise for its combat despite some story critiques. The Until Dawn movie just dropped its first trailer, and it looks promising! On a bittersweet note, Sony canceled Bluepoint's live-service God of War project and Bend Studio's new title, but both studios remain intact. Finally, PlayStation Blog shared its top 10 platformers available on PS Plus, including classics like Jak and Daxter, Ape Escape, and Celeste. Anna talks about how writing for games is different than writing for other medias, including making decisions on what options the player can make (you can never let your player do anything because scope), and writing for players that role-play as the character vs. wearing the character's costume as yourself. And the importance of frequent Narrative Reviews and getting together with other teams to talk about how new elements feel.Stephen's journey in this episode takes him from declaring that writing is hard to being encouraged and pledging to write for the his next games jam project (Ellen will be coding in Godot). We will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether enjoyed from the show floor or your favorite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring the community, media, and industry back together in an all-new format and interactive experience. We look forward to presenting E3 to fans around the world live from Los Angeles in 2023. Last but not least - was haben wir gespielt?

On today's IGN The Fix: Games, A new video detailing the Halo Infinite campaign has revealed brand new footage of the Master Chief's next mission, as well as an introduction to his new AI and some of the activities that can be completed. Halo Infinite's campaign - which 343 Industries claims is the biggest Halo campaign to date - is set on the Zeta Halo, an open world Halo ring where the Banished, a splinter faction from the Covenant, led by the Brutes, have settled. They've been building outposts, which can be found on your travels and taken out, akin to similar outposts in open-world games like Far Cry. In the video, we can see Chief finding an outpost - named Ransom Keep - and scanning it for weak points. He then uses a rocket launcher to detonate a large silo, suggesting each outpost may have different ways of shutting them down. This is part of 343's intention to offer "more freedom to take down the Banished". As February's release of Horizon: Forbidden West draws nearer, Guerrilla has updated fans on some of the new abilities that players will be able to utilize across combat and exploration in the game, including a grapple and glider, as well as some fun new combat techniques. In a post focusing on traversal published on the PlayStation Blog, Guerrilla spoke further about some of the new tools that players will have, as well as factors that have influenced Forbidden West's new combat decisions. Lead Systems Designer David McMullen explained that a new high vault mechanic "essentially allows Aloy to hoist herself on top of any object of jumpable height with room to pull up. Combined with the ability to free climb and adding grapples to our environment, the potential for exploration is greatly increased." And it's all presented by Riders Republic!

On today's IGN The Fix: Games, Bethesda has bought a PlayStation 5 for Deathloop's Jason Kelley after the voice actor told fans he didn't have a copy of the game or a console to experience it on. Just as Deathloop was about to launch, a short promo clip on the game's official Twitter account featured Jason Kelley, the voice actor for protagonist Colt, saying: "I cannot wait for you guys to get your hands on this video game. If anyone can get me a copy and a PlayStation 5, I would appreciate it." This made it clear that Kelley didn't own a copy of Deathloop or a PlayStation 5 to play it on, but Bethesda came to the rescue. Outfits in Horizon Forbidden West will have skills attached to them, Guerrilla Games has revealed. In a post on the PlayStation Blog discussing how Horizon Zero Dawn's lead protagonist Aloy will shape up in the franchise's upcoming sequel, Guerrilla Games Community Lead Bo de Vries spoke about the range of outfits that will be available to Aloy throughout Horizon Forbidden West and how the studio is building up versatility within this aspect of the game. While Naughty Dog may not have revealed any new details on the upcoming The Last of Us multiplayer project, it took the time on The Last of Us Day 2021 to ensure fans that it is actively working on it and that it will "reveal more when it's ready!" Naughty Dog's Rochelle Snyder shared the news in a community update after thanking the fans and the team who have all collectively made The Last of Us into the success it has become. Jokingly, Naughty Dog then included this question as a fan would write; Yeah, that's lovely and great Naughty Dog, but what are you doing with The Last of Us right now?" On today's IGN The Fix: Games, Sony has acquired UK developer Firesprite, marking the third studio acquisition from Sony this year alone. As noted on the PlayStation Blog, Firesprite has worked closely with Sony, creating several titles together. Most notably, the developer helped to create The Playroom and The Playroom VR. Firesprite is also the developer behind The Persistence, a horror shooter originally released on the PS4 as a PSVR title before becoming a non-VR version on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC two years later. It's been one year since Marvel's Avengers hit the scene, and developer Crystal Dynamics released a new road map for the rest of 2021. With details for the first raid, a power level cap increase, and, of course, confirming again that Spider-Man is slated to come to PlayStation later this year. Perhaps more excitingly, it opens the door more than ever for Alan Wake 2 to come down the line. After a leak last week, Remedy and publisher Epic announced that Alan Wake Remastered would come with both of the game's expansions, allow for 4K resolution, and will include a new commentary from creative director Sam Lake. No official release date has been announced, but the previous retailer leaks have pointed to October 5. PlayStation boss Jim Ryan announced in an updated PlayStation Blog post that Horizon: Forbidden West will offer a PS4-PS5 upgrade path. Players that purchase the game on PS4 will also get a PS5 version at no extra cost. Ryan also announced that moving forward, all first-party PlayStation exclusives that are cross-gen will offer a $10 digital upgrade path, regardless of whether or not you purchase the game digitally or physically on PS4. The PS4-PS5 upgrade path will also include the upcoming sequel to God of War and Gran Turismo 7. Legendary game designer Hideo Kojima seems to be teasing the new Matrix movie on Twitter, but it's not entirely clear why. 18 years have passed since the release of Matrix Revolutions, the series' last installment. However, with the franchise set to revive itself with the release of The Matrix Resurrections in theatres and on HBO Max this December 22, fans are currently scouring the internet for new content about the film. With both Sony and Microsoft recently releasing some great news about their hard to find, new, next generation consoles, the spotlight has now shifted to Nintendo to see how the company is faring with minimal releases, basically since the start of 2020. Sony recently mentioned on the PlayStation Blog that the PS5 is the fastest selling console in the company's history dating back to the early 90's when the entered the gaming business. In just under 8 months, the PS5 has managed to sell over 10 million. In a different aspect of success, the Xbox Series consoles have also managed to sell quite well with estimated being around 7 million with most of their focus being on services such as Game Pass where they continued to see growth. Would Nintendo have more magic up their sleeve with next to nothing new happening on the console in a major way to move hardware and software. Here is our review of Nintendo FY22 Q1 earnings report.

We also discuss the Oculus Quest 2 (and whether it’s worth your money), Unity’s IPO, and Razer leaking 100,000 people’s personal information. We also have a hard discussion about Hogwarts Legacy, ethical consumption, and toxic creators. Trans rights are human rights. Note: Following our recording, Sony issued a statement on the preorder debacle on Twitter: Let’s be honest: PS5 preorders could have been a lot smoother. We truly apologize for that. Over the next few days, we will release more PS5 consoles for preorder – retailers will share more details. And more PS5s will be available through the end of the year. We've waited so long for concrete details concerning PlayStation 5's release date and price that it all feels a bit like a fever dream. But the spell has broken: The results, as Maury would say, are in. PlayStation 5 has a price and a release date; it all fits exactly where it should. But there are some complications, to be sure. For instance, did you know Miles Morales is also a PS4 game? Thanks to an afterthought paragraph in a PlayStation Blog post -- or this podcast! -- now you do! But there's a lot to be truly excited about, too. Final Fantasy XVI is real, Deathloop looks rad, and Miles Morales may be cross-gen, but it looks awesome. In addition to all of the PS5 news, there are some other items to get through, too, like the re-emergence of a possible Mass Effect Trilogy on PS4 and the intelligent VR-centric expansion of THQ Nordic. Then, listener thoughts! How do we control the dreaded Hype Machine? How awesome does BPM: Bullets Per Minute look? How do we convince skeptical adults that -- yes! -- video games are awesome?! How does Chris live with himself knowing he'll never receive another Splinter Cell game? Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

Although it likely feels like it has been an eternity since quarantine started roughly back in March, we haven’t actually seen concrete sales data from many of the top, publicly traded gaming companies. We have seen snippets of sales figures regarding specific titles but for the most part many we haven’t seen just how much of an increase gaming has seen since quarantine. It doesn’t matter if we are talking about Q1 or Q2 as some companies structure their fiscal year starting January 1 and others start their fiscal year on April 1. The important thing is that we are going to be able to see a solid quarter of sales data that encapsulates gaming during quarantine for the period of April until the end of June. Before looking into any of the specifics, it’s safe to assume that gaming has seen a massive surge based on a few key indicators we’ve seen at this point. As a matter of fact, you could extrapolate something from each of the big three as an indicator of the times. When looking at Nintendo, although they have been fairly quiet in announcing their second half of 2020 plans, we have seen sales figures on Animal Crossing go through the roof. On top of that Ring Fit Adventure was extremely hard to find, to the point that it was selling for double on the used market and trying to find a new Switch or Switch Lite during quarantine at retail has been quite challenging, although a trip recently to my local department store shows stock, which makes me think Nintendo has managed supply. When looking at PlayStation, they have released first party entries to record success with The Last of Us Part 2 selling more than 4 million copies in its first week according to the Playstation Blog and Ghost of Tsushima selling 2.4 million copies in its first three days, setting a record for new Sony PS4 IP. Not to mention that Sony has recently announced at their quarterly earnings that they have now sold 112 million PS4 consoles. Microsoft is fairly tighter lipped when it comes to sales figures this generation but recently on the Same Brain podcast, Phil Spencer said that since March 270 million new friend connections have been made on Xbox Live. This is all pretty staggering data, especially when you consider that sales are usually down during a console launch year as many people are saving up for their new, next generation experience. This week many of the large, publicly traded video game companies announced their earnings, which is great to get hard evidence on how quarantine has affected gaming but also this is sometimes the place where companies need to keep investors happy with projections and announcements. Sometimes these announcements are specific and other times you can deduce information from the words that are said. This week on the VDGMS podcast we thought a closer look at Activision Blizzard (02:54), TTWO (07:50) and Nintendo (12:44) made sense to see how much gaming has increased and see if we can figure out anything about their futures.

The Last of Us Part 2 O game acabou de ser lançado e já faz muito barulho. Guerrilla Collective, Festival de jogos do Steam e PC Gaming Show 2020 EA Play 2020: Star Wars Squadrons, SKATE e Lost in Random são anunciados. Você curtiu a ideia e o primeiro trailer de Kingdom Hearts: Melody of Memory? PS5 Games Will Need To Be Downloaded No Matter Which Version You Buy The best disc drive money can buy is an Ultra HD Blu-ray, capable of showing movies in beautiful 4K graphics. When used for gaming, a triple-layer Ultra HD Blu-ray can store just 100 GB. While that’s enough for some games, it’s not nearly enough for others. Destiny 2 has already crested the 100 GB threshold and modern AAA games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is already over 200 GB. This means that even if you buy a new physical PS5 game, odds are you’re still going to be using the internet to download a significant portion of that game’s data. Remover as tranças. 2. Mudar os lábios ousados. 3. Mudar o tom da pele. 4. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time vaza e sugere game para PS4 e Xbox One Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time pode ser a nova aventura do marsupial para PlayStation 4 (PS4) e Xbox One.
