On this hard rockin', non-stoppin', monster stompin' episode of Yeah! (greatest podcast in the world, 2 months running) we're talking all about Rob Zombie and his song "Superbeast" that was featured on at least 2 videogames! Rob Zombie was on top of the world in 1998 when Twisted Metal 3 released...they even let him sort of be the boss of the soundtrack for the game! He then got tapped again in 2009 to appear on the soundtrack for Brütal Legend alongside Ozzy Osbourne. We get into the weirdness of Mr. Zombie (or is it Mr. Cummings?) and his roots in a sleepy Massachusetts town that coincidentally used to be the home of both Jonathan and Tanya. It's an endless thrill ride of Zombie-infused delights designed to tickle your ears and dazzle your mind.0:00:00 - Haverhill Locals Only0:03:48 - Inside the Twisted Mind of Rob Zombie0:08:02 - What Was Happening with that Twisted Metal 3 Soundtrack?0:11:06 - Adventures in CD-ROM0:13:00 - Brütal Legend Starring Jack Black0:14:47 - Rob Zombie's Living on Schlock0:17:38 - The Locals' Guide to Haverhill, Massachusetts0:19:37 - The Haverhill to Hollywood Pipeline to Fame0:23:50 - Rob Zombie, Mario's Cousin Twice Removed0:25:15 - Massachampshire0:27:05 - Why Isn't Jonathan on the Notable Figures of Haverhill List?0:31:12 - The Latest Update on Kaiju Big Battel0:33:54 - I'm All Out of Thoughts and Feelings

We're on the verge of the second season of HBO's The Last of Us, and yet new questions percolate about whether we'll ever see another game in Naughty Dog's vaunted series. In a recent interview, Neil Druckmann told fans "don't bet on there being more," which is both alluringly ominous and obviously vague. That's good news for us, though, since it gives us plenty to discuss. Do we need more? Do we want more? Should we get more? Plus: Rumors are ramping up about one-time Xbox titan Gears of War migrating to PlayStation 5 later this year, while details related to Firesprite's cancelled Twisted Metal project have leaked. Also: PlayStation 2 turns 25 years old in Japan, Until Dawn Remake studio Ballistic Moon goes belly-up, a key Bungie designer joins Guerrilla, Monster Hunter Wilds smashes Capcom sales records, and more. Finally: Listener inquiries! Is it possible that Grand Theft Auto VI fails to meet either critical or commercial expectations, or perhaps both? What are our reflections on PS5 Pro now that we've had our own for some months? Should Canadians stop buying games from American publishers and developers in retaliation of US tariffs? Will Colin ever forgive his brother for continuously referring to himself as "The Dagster"? In today's Daily Fix:We still haven't seen a new trailer for GTA 6, but Rockstar is expanding its portfolio of studios. Rockstar recently acquired Video Games Deluxe, who worked on the re-release of L.A. Noire and its VR spinoff, and helped fix Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy—The Definitive Edition after its underwhelming launch. No word yet on how this impacts GTA 6, if at all. In other news, blurry screenshots have emerged from a canceled Twisted Metal project. The game was apparently an online title that had traditional vehicular combat mixed with battle royale and on-foot elements. And finally, Monster Hunter Wilds' cheese naan cutscene is sending players on an IRL foodie hunt for actual cheese naan. In fact, an Indian restaurant in Tokyo actually ran out of cheese trying to fill all the orders.

GET YOUR MULTIVERSE NEWS MERCH HERE:https://multiverse-news-shop.fourthwall.com/Welcome to Multiverse News, Your source for Information about all your favorite fictional universesCaptain America: Brave New World premiered globally last week, soaring to the top of the Valentine's and President's Day weekend box office with a $192.4 million haul in tow. The Anthony Mackie-led vehicle, which is the fourth Captain America film and 35th MCU film overall, managed to exceed somewhat meager box office projections, however, its reception with both critics and audiences isn't as definitive a victory. The film is currently sitting at 51% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and has earned a B- CinemaScore, which is among some franchise lows for Marvel.According to exclusive reports from Deadline, the Mike Flanagan-penned, solo Clayface film seems to be on track to meet its targeted September 2026 release, with DC leadership set to hear pitches from potential filmmakers next week. Two noteworthy names rising to the top as candidates to helm the rumored horror-tragedy include Speak No Evil's James Watkins and Truth or Dare's Jeff Wadlow – with the expectation that casting will quickly follow suit once a director is locked-in. James Gunn has described the film as a DCU project, but it is still unclear whether it will connect to any existing projects or continuity. Christopher Nolan's next film for Universal, The Odyssey, has assembled an understandably stacked cast that includes the likes of Tom Holland, Zendaya, Lupita Nyong'o and Jon Bernthal to name a few; now Mia Goth has joined the cast in an undisclosed role, while Matt Damon's role has finally officially been revealed to the title of role of Odysseus as announced via a photo shared from the film's X account. The retelling of Homer's epic poem is slated for a July 17, 2026 release. Universal has debuted the first full trailer for the live action remake of How To Train Your Dragon ahead of its June 13 release.Hulu released a first-look teaser for the final season of The Handmaid's Tale, premiering with three episodes on April 8, followed by weekly releases until the May 27 finale. A recent presentation showcased a diverse array of some 35 games coming to PlayStation 5 over the next couple of years. But -- perhaps unsurprisingly -- that hasn't stopped boo-birds from raining down upon Sony yet again, at least from some particularly loud corners. It seems that some people will literally never be satisfied, no matter what. But for those who are looking forward to new games to play, there was much to be excited about in the form of Lost Soul Aside, Metal Eden, Borderlands 4, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Hell Is Us, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Days Gone Remastered, Tides of Annihilation, and even a brand new Housemarque PS5-exclusive called Saros, amongst much more. This week, we take time to delve into everything discussed during the newest State of Play, and dive into a bunch of other news too. Sony's quarterly financials are out, and PS5 sales are booming, reaching 75 million sold and counting. Meanwhile, Astro Bot is getting even more free DLC, God of War may be reverting to its Greek roots, Resistance and The Order are likely permanently dead, Twisted Metal returns to Peacock this summer, and so on. Then: Listener inquiries! Is Kendrick Lamar a PlayStation nerd? Does HDR even do anything? Why aren't more old folks playing games? Should Colin just retire? This episode is sponsored by BetterHelp. Police in West Valley City, Utah found a charred clump of metal hidden in the back of Josh Powell’s minivan on the day after Susan Powell first came up missing. They suspected it was evidence, but could never identify it. Now, on the 15th anniversary of Susan’s disappearance, we reveal the likely origin of that mystery metal evidence. In this special bonus episode, you’ll also hear from Andrew Robinson, a witness who’s never before spoken publicly about what he saw in the days before Susan vanished. For years, investigative reporter Dave Cawley has been studying thousands of police documents, journals, videos and diary entries. He tracked down new sources, followed new leads and traced Josh Powell's trail from West Valley City, Utah, through Idaho, Oregon, Nevada and on to Washington State, where Powell killed himself and his two sons. Cold is the most complete retelling of the Susan Powell story ever. Join Dave Cawley in his search for truth. Listen to Cold on the Wondery App or wherever you get your podcasts. Welcome to Dev Game Club, where this week we start a new series on Heroes of Might and Magic. We set the game a little in its time, talk about the way the game creates a divergent path from other tactical turn-based combat games. Dev Game Club looks at classic video games and plays through them over several episodes, providing commentary. Sections played: Some tutorial, some standard, some campaign Issues covered: the multiverse/divergent evolution, a game that wasn't copied, long games, setting the game in its time, moving more to real-time combat, finite audiences, action became important for larger audiences, the experimentation in the space, the unexpected battle map, an automated complicated board game, tabletop wargaming, wondering how you get from the main series to this, SSI's path, playing the tutorial, the early game, resources and time and other elements, the city view, generating armies and garrisoning, other things that buildings provide, the hero doesn't fight, choosing your heroes and what units you get, retreating and surrendering, leveling your heroes, not being expected to win the first game, the world map, exploring and watching the world map progress, considering multiplayer, metaphors for humanity (computing, industry, alignments, attributes), grinding, wanting cinematography controls in in-game cutscenes, deleting the chip bag, giving the cheats, #PecsAndGlutesForLyfe. Games, people, and influences mentioned or discussed: Ubisoft, New World Computing, Jon Van Caneghem, Final Fantasy Tactics, X-COM, Populous, Black & White, Marvel Midnight Suns, Freedom Force, Wildermyth, Civilization, Richard Garriott, Kaeon, NES/SNES, Chrono Trigger, Dark Forces, Full Throttle, Jagged Alliance, Dragon Quest VI, Rayman, Hexen, Suikoden, PlayStation, Warcraft 2, The Dig, Twisted Metal, Kings Field 2, Command & Conquer, Total Annihilation, World of Warcraft, Fallout, Firaxis, Final Fantasy (series), Baldur's Gate, Diablo, David Brevik, Archon, Gary Gygax, Dave Arneson, Chivalry, Dungeons & Dragons, Fallout Tactics: Brotherhood of Steel, Commandos, SSI, Ultima (series), Eye of the Beholder, Cinemaware, Defender of the Crown, Taylor, The Sims, Majora's Mask, GURPS, Baron, Shadow Tactics, Tacoma, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, Metal Gear Solid (series), Halo, Prince of Persia: Sands of Time, Braid, Quake, Daron Stinnett, Celeste, Jeffool, Final Fantasy VI, Kirk Hamilton, Aaron Evers, Mark Garcia.  Next time: More of HOMM! We're truly in the doldrums of summer when it comes to console gaming, at least when considering news, releases, and other notable happenings. But we have a show to do nonetheless, and there are still a series of interesting tidbits worth discussing. Nexon's Bungie-inspired shooter The First Descendant has found itself in some controversy around in-game art, Amazon's Fallout TV series received a ton of Emmy nominations (with Twisted Metal on Peacock receiving one of its own), Sony will show off a slew of games on the show floor at Beijing's ChinaJoy '24 convention, Black Ops 6's beta details have been revealed, and more. We round things out with listener inquiries, as we usually do, this week approaching topics like our game of the year so far for 2024, immersion, playing games with our spouses, and the generational gap (in player age) when it comes to the hardcore space. This week, we're talking Twisted Metal:Black, which is the best game in one of the coolest franchises in the history of gaming. I fell in love with the Twisted Metal series on the original PlayStation, so when I saw a next-gen version of the series on PS2, I couldn't resist. And they didn't just live up to my expectations, they blew 'em out of the water. The graphics and combat were rock solid, and the morbid, dark, twisted backstories of each character (those cutscenes!) were insane. I hate that this series seems to be dead on the vine, but you can always (and should always) go back to Twisted Metal: Black for car combat perfection. My guest this week was the guy that broke down the OG Twisted Metal games with me a few years ago, my pal Andre. And we both agreed that this game stands up as not only the best Twisted Metal, but one of the best games in the PlayStation 2's legendary library. And before we twist metal, I put together another edition of the Infamous Intro! This week, someone asks straight up, what means more to me: retro gaming or modern gaming? We're covering The Last of Us for episode 300 next week, what version should you play to get ready for it? And have I ever tried to repair a console myself? Plus we play another round of 'Play One, Remake One, Erase One', too! This one features 3 car combat games: Vigilante 8, WWE Crush Hour, and Carmageddon. Learn more about your ad choices.
