Due to a random conversation while recording another Star Wars game we ended up mentioning this game, Demolition. Here we have a Twisted Metal clone with a Star Wars coat of paint. Does this game get the formula right? Does this game add some cool new characters into the Star Wars lore? Come hear how we felt about this Ps1 title. TFIYE Ep #198 Spooky Circus & The RR (Grok 3 Summarization Transcript) The Fork In Your Ear Podcast Episode Summary – July 19, 2025 **Fork in Your Ear Podcast Summary – Episode Recorded August 9, 2025** In this lively episode, hosts Tim K.A. Trotter and Nate Foo dive into a mix of personal anecdotes, pop culture, gaming, and tech developments, delivering their signature blend of humor and insight. **Life Updates**: Tim shares his recent battle with a prolonged illness that left him bedridden for days, reflecting on the frustration of wanting to game or watch TV but being too sick to enjoy it. He also recounts a memorable date with his wife at a “spooky circus” by Cirque Italia, a raunchy, R-rated spectacle with sword-swallowing and trapeze acts. Another highlight was their visit to the iconic Double R Cafe in North Bend, Washington, famous from *Twin Peaks* and *Alan Wake*. Nate discusses surviving Southern California's triple-digit heat and a past AC failure, while both hosts lament aging and slower recovery times. **Technology**: The conversation turns to AI advancements, focusing on Open AI's ChatGPT-5, which promises enhanced coding capabilities but has faced criticism for underperforming and ethical concerns like cloning itself. Tim praises Grok's new image and video generation features, showcasing its ability to create lifelike animations from single images, though it struggles with consistency in content moderation. They speculate on AI's future in entertainment, predicting a shift toward user-generated, high-quality content. **Gaming**: The hosts discuss the passing of Bethesda's Julian LaFay, the “father of the Elder Scrolls series,” and Sony's move toward multi-platform game releases, with PlayStation titles like *Helldivers 2* coming to Xbox and Switch. They explore the evolving console wars, noting Nintendo's dominance in the portable market and the trend of companies like Capcom making games available across all platforms. Tim shares an encounter with a 65-year-old gamer playing a Switch 2, highlighting Nintendo's broad appeal. **Entertainment**: Tim gushes about *Fantastic Four: First Steps*, praising its 1960s aesthetic and faithful adaptation of the comics, though he's puzzled by its lack of connection to the MCU's 616 universe. The upcoming *Spider-Man: Brand New Day* sparks excitement with its practical stunt work and return to a street-level story featuring villains like Mr. Negative and the Punisher. The *King of the Hill* revival on Hulu is a standout, with its time-jump approach and aged characters feeling fresh yet nostalgic, though some voice acting changes are jarring. *K-Pop Demon Hunters* on Netflix surprises both hosts with its infectious music and charm, becoming a family favorite. Other highlights include *Twisted Metal*'s absurd fun, *Dexter: Resurrection*'s gripping return, and the news of Gina Carano's settlement with Disney over her *Mandalorian* firing. The episode wraps with Tim's enthusiasm for *Donkey Kong: Banana Bonanza*'s emotional ending and a nod to upcoming gaming plans, despite technical hiccups during recording. A heartfelt shoutout goes to friend Greg Smith, whose grandmother is in the hospital, urging listeners to send positive vibes. **Runtime**: Just under 3 hours. **Sign-off**: “Get forked!” Join The Fork Family On Discord: https://discord.gg/CXrFKxR8uA Find all our stuff at Remember to give us a review on iTunes or wherever you downloaded this podcast from. This week on Cinematic Savants Shawn and Tommy reminisce on how the theater experience has changed from when they were young (3:19). Shawn and Tommy had the chance to start Season 2 of Twisted Metal on Peacock, starring Anthony Mackie (21:20). Why is it harder for R-Rated video games to proper once moved to film as opposed to kid friendly games (31:57)? Shawn reviews a documentary on Hulu for the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina (46:10). Tommy reviews one of the worst movies he's ever seen, War of the Worlds on Amazon Prime, starring Ice Cube (1:10:55). What happened to the comedy movie genre (1:23:25)?
Jahan and Drew discuss the end of the summer movie season and what the biggest takeaways are. Plus a review of Fantastic Four: First Steps. Fresh Movies: The Naked Gun; Together; Happy Gilmore 2; The Bad Guys 2; Freaky Friday Fresh TV: Wednesday; Twisted Metal; South Park; WWE Unreal; Hard Knocks with the Buffalo Bills Fresh Games: Donkey Kong Bananza; Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake; Grounded 2; Robocop Rogue City Find us on Bluesky: @dmunhausen.bsky.social and @jahananon.bsky.social
After this episode's Kicks of the Week (9:51), we review theremake of The Naked Gun (19:53) and check in with new seasons of Twisted Metal (31:30) & King of the Hill (42:13).
The whole gang is back together this week AND they've all watched Fantastic Four, so we revist that with a full spoiler review, the move on to Nonna's, Freaky Tales, Twisted Metal, and Project Runway. APNC has always been a show that loves the MCU. Heck, the first episode ever was about Captain Marvel (not to date ourselves...), so to have the opportunity to have a full spoiler discussion about the Fantastic Four was something we weren't going miss, even though we just discussed it last week. Getting Andrew's take from the more seasoned MCU angle and Lauren from the less indoctrinated side leads to some great discussions and generates some really solid discussion about what this movie means for super hero movies going forward. After that discussion, Lauren takes over and discusses the film Nonna's on Netflix. It stars Vince Vaugnn in a less over the top role than usual in a story that's based on a real restaurant. Rather than hiring traditional chefs, a restauranteur hires a handful of Italian grandma's (nonna's) to make the food. It's a heartwarming story about the initial struggles and ultimate success of a very niche restaurant. The review sounds lovely, as does the restaurant. If you're ever in Staten Island, give it (and the movie) a shot! Next up, Andrew takes us back in time the Bay Area with Freaky Tales. It's 4 intertwining takes, a la Pulp Fiction, that come together at the end. Much like every other film or TV show this year, it stars Pedro Pascal, but also Ben Mendelsohn, rapper Too $hort, and Jay Ellis. It's not kid friendly, so watch when you have the TV to yourself, but it's a solid watch and a great story. Slingshotting back to the future, Kevin discusses the return of the post apocalyptic series, Twisted Metal, on Peacock. This one stars Anthonay Mackie and Stephanie Beatriz as drivers in a world where you are never truly safe unless you're moving. Despite the world it's set in, this show is a ton of fun and it requires no knowledge of the video game it's based on to enjoy, so if over the top mayhen and witty dialogue (and Kevin's favorite Mackie performance) is your jam, give this one a shot for sure. Lauren closes the show with a quick review of the new season of Project Runway. It sees the return of Heidi as the host, but lacks some of the old Project Runway magic without Tim Gunn. It's only 2 episodes in, so far, and the challenges have been less than stellar, but it's a long haul, so there is definitely room for improvement as the season rolls on. As always, thank you for watching. If you haven't already, don't forget to Like & Subscribe. We love new viewers! Also, leave us comments and let is know how we are doing and what we can be doing better. Enjoy the episode and have a great week! Earlier this year, Chinese publisher Tencent revealed a new project so shameless that it belies belief. It's called Light of Motiram, and it's no exaggeration to say that it's a pound-for-pound carbon copy of PlayStation's vaunted Horizon franchise. It crossed the line to such an extent that Sony is suing Tencent over it, packing fascinating evidence that this title was likely intended to be Horizon all along. Is Tencent dead-to-rights? Other news this week includes likely massive overreaction to PlayStation's hiring of a cross-platform manager, updates on Amazon's God of War TV project, Xbox's dominance of PS5 sales chart with rumors of more to come, Warner Bros. dipping its toes back in the games-as-a-service space, fresh PS+ offerings, and more. To round things out, we then go to listener inquiries, as always. Is the original Metal Gear Solid overrated? What's happening with Insomniac's Wolverine project? Have payment processors gone too far in seemingly bullying the likes of Steam? Will Colin ever understand that Bob Dylan is still alive?
