My friend Jerry van Schie's brain child The Groove Collection started out as a forum for the progressive house community a long long time ago, in a time when we didn't have Myspace, Facebook or anything else. Social media avant la lettre as you will :) It expanded with a podcast series, bookings agency and record label throughout the years. After Jerry's passing, his brother Remco van Schie made sure the podcast legacy lasted, and invested to keep the archives online. Recently he started asking friends of Jerry to contribute a fresh guest mix for the series. This month it was my turn, and I decided to give him the recording of the set I've played at the Warehouse Stream Marathon a few weeks

Is it just us ooooor....are you also in the mood for tacos? Well, whatever the case may be, we got plenty of food for thought in this episode! Things kick off with a decent amount of chit chat around the most random topics, all spurred from the debate about Mother Nature wilding out lately. After Jerry reveals his low key passion for Earth conversation, the guys then bring up the recent Blue Bell ice cream controversy. While the fellas are saved and working on being upstanding citizens, they threaten to fight ANYBODY over desecrating Blue Bell. When does the clout chasing culture stop!? With the realization that human beings truly are “nasty,” the life coach formerly known as Kev then wonders what’s more disgusting....shaking an unwashed hand vs hugging a sweaty somebody? Before we dive into the topic of the day, the guys then talk about the recent “Not My Ariel” debate and get Coach Kev....I mean Kevin....a bit rowdy. “If you don’t like it...go create something yourself!” We then have a chance to dive into the topic of the day, centered around the idea of giving your all to situations you have the OPPORTUNITY to experience, even if those situations aren’t ideal or expected. Usually it’s in these times that people prefer to quit or leave, instead of double down and learn. Do you feel you are in environments or jobs where you think THE LEADERS can do better? Do you feel you don’t like the way things are run because of a bad company culture? Do you feel like your value is under appreciated? Well then Coach Kev challenges you to take what you define as “Value” and combine it with what is “useable” for others, and then ask YOURSELF, “am I value-able?” Sit down, pop in some headphones, and check out this episode Bucko....and stay tuned through the end to answer the question of the week: Best friends of the opposite sex....if your friend's significant other doesn’t like you, should you be deleted from all social media contact?
After Jerry lists off all the naughty girls that have been trying to get a hold of him via Skype, Dan and Jerry then create Facebook pages for their appliances so they can all like each other, then discuss the land-squid people who will take over Earth after humans are gone -- and what future land-squid archeologists will think when they discover Dan's collection of stuffed jackalopes. And that is still not all. No, no friends, it goes on and on, like a runaway train full of pineapple ranchers who only speak German. --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/slowdeath/message
Jene's concerned: Are we to perform at the Whispering Beard Folk Festival this August? We noticed the date we were given to be on the main stage is a day after the festival closes. And that date was suggested AFTER Jerry sang Banks of the Ohio on one of our episodes. Is somebody messing with us?Jerry, do you still have that Maserati? Is there any reason that car couldn't be brought to Ludlow to become the podcast car to be used to go to the bank, post office, the printer, etc? Think of the publicity! Folks all over Ludlow would see the car and flock to the show!Jene's also trying to get Jerry to join him in the effort to 'digitally map' the Ohio River for tourists and boaters. Living in an RV sounds like fun! But how much does it cost? What if you have too much stuff? Jerry Minchey is with us today to give us an advice on how we can live in an RV. You can listen to the show at http://rockyourretirement.libsyn.com/how-to-live-in-an-rv On today’s episode of Rock Your Retirement, we’re learning about how to live in an RV! Jerry Minchey, #1 Best-Selling Author, is the author of several books about the RVing lifestyle and about retirement living. He lives full time in his 34-foot Class A motorhome. He has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, an MBA from USC, and an OPM degree from Harvard Business School. Jerry has worked for NASA and worked for many years as a computer design engineer. He holds five patents, and he has a private pilot license with an instrument rating. (Let's go flying!) He has owned several engineering and marketing businesses, and he is the founder and editor of the website LifeRV.com. How did he decide to live in an RV? He tells us on today's episode. After Jerry retired, he bought a motorhome and started living full time in it. He started following several RVing blogs and forums. After a couple of years of following the RV forums, he realized that there were a lot of people who had tons of questions about the RVing lifestyle, what's it like, how much does it cost, etc. That's when he decided to write his first RVing book (Motorhome and RV Retirement Living – The most Enjoyable and Least Expensive Way to Retire). Jerry has since written three more books about motorhome and RV living. If anyone is an expert on how to live in an RV, it's him. He sells his books (both the printed versions and the eBooks) through Amazon. He also has links to the Amazon sales pages for his books on his website www.LifeRV.com Jerry says, “Probably the most interesting response I get from people when I tell them about living full time in an RV is that they say, “I could never live in an RV. I have too much stuff.” “They say it with so much conviction it's like saying one leg is longer than the other one. They act like they were born that way and there's nothing they can do about it. Getting rid of your stuff is one of the most liberating things you can do.” “Since I live full time in my motorhome, my typical day varies a lot depending on where I'm camped. Sometimes I'm in a campground and sometimes I'm camped in a state park or a National Forest all by myself. Either way, I do a lot of writing and I like to hike.” Jerry gave us a lot of great information and we also created a freebie, 5 steps to living in an RV Full Time, that you can get by going to http://RockYourRetirement.com/RV Jerry’s Book(s): * Motorhome and RV Retirement Living: The Most Enjoyable and Least Expensive Way to Retire * Advantages of Moving into a 55+ Park: How to Enjoy Your Retirement Even on a Budget * Young RVers: How to Enjoy the Freedom of the RV Lifestyle While Making a Living on the Road Kindle Edition * The Restaurant Marketing Bible: How to Market Your Restaurant on a Shoestring Budget
“That's what a coincidence is! There are no small coincidences and big coincidences!” In this week’s episode of That’s The Deal, Danielle discusses The Statue (Season 2, Episode 6) since poor Jaclyn is battling a cold and doesn’t say much. We also play a quick game of “Guess The Seinfeld Character” and update Kramer’s F*$% count! The Statue in a nutshell: After Jerry hires a grad student to clean his apartment, he notices a statue of particular importance to George has been stolen from his kitchen. Comments or questions?
