François hat eine Stadtbahn gegen den Widerstand von zwei Dritteln der Bevölkerung gebaut. Er hat Fahrspuren für Autos in Fahrradinfrastruktur umgewandelt. Und er hat 2020 kostenlosen Nahverkehr eingeführt - nicht als politisches Gadget, sondern als Kirsche auf einem Kuchen, den er vorher gebacken hat. Über diesen Kuchen sprechen wir heute. Aber zuerst ein kurzes Wort in eigener Sache. Dieser Podcast existiert, weil ich glaube, dass die richtigen Gespräche geführt werden müssen - auch wenn sie unbequem sind, auch wenn sie keine schnellen Lösungen liefern, auch wenn sie länger brauchen als ein Nachrichtenformat - und auch, weil leider nicht sehr viele intersektional in diesem Bereich arbeiten, also menschenzentriert für Jene, die immer wieder vergessen werden. Ich investiere in die Recherche, die Organisation, die Aufnahmen und Nachbereitung Zeit, die bekanntermaßen Geld ist. Das mache ich alles ohne Zahlschranke, weil ich möchte, dass alle an dem Wissen teilhaben können. Zur Finanzierung meines Podcasts suche ich deshalb Partner*innen, die zu meiner Arbeit und meiner großartigen Community passen. Kaum Fahrradinfrastruktur. Eine Stadtbahn, die seit 30 Jahren diskutiert wurde, ohne dass etwas passierte. Und Investitionsrückstände in der Bahn, die sich über Jahrzehnte aufgestaut hatten. François hat das systematisch abgearbeitet. Erst als Beigeordneter Bürgermeister der Stadt Luxemburg, wo er einer zentralen Brücke eine Autospur wegnahm - und damit einen Sturm der Entrüstung auslöste. Dann als Minister, mit einem Investitionsprogramm, das Prioritäten setzte, einem nationalen Mobilitätsplan bis 2035 und dem Leitprinzip, das alles zusammenhält: Wir müssen Menschen bewegen, nicht Fahrzeuge. Als Bausch das Projekt 2013 anschob, waren nur 38 Prozent der Bevölkerung dafür. Er baute trotzdem - ließ vorher einen maßstabsgetreuen Holzprototyp mitten in der Innenstadt aufstellen, sammelte sechs Wochen lang Feedback aus der Bevölkerung, integrierte Vorschläge sichtbar und öffentlich, veranstaltete Tage der offenen Tür in der Werkstatt. Als die erste Strecke eröffnet wurde, kippte die Stimmung: 80 Prozent Zustimmung. Heute nutzen 140.000 Menschen täglich diese eine Linie. Und niemand stellt das Projekt mehr in Frage. Der kostenlose Nahverkehr, für den Luxemburg weltweit bekannt wurde, ist in diesem Gespräch fast eine Randnotiz - und das mit Absicht. François erklärt, warum er ihn selbst zunächst für „zu früh" hielt, unter welcher Bedingung er zugestimmt hat, und warum er bei jedem Interview zum Gratisticket die Journalist*innen bat, kurz zuzuhören: Dieser sei "nur" die Kirsche auf dem Kuchen. Den Kuchen muss man erst backen. Das kostet Investitionen, Qualität, Verlässlichkeit. Wer nur die Kirsche hinsetzt, schafft Frustration. Deutschland bekommt von François einen klaren Spiegel vorgehalten. Das Deutschlandticket ohne Investitionsstrategie, der Tankrabatt als Reflex, das fehlende Gesamtkonzept - er spart nicht mit Analyse und macht keinen Hehl daraus, dass er das strukturelle Problem in Deutschland in fehlenden Plänen sieht.

Diese Folge präsentieren Krsto und Danijel direkt aus ihrem Sommerurlaub. Naja, nicht ganz. Natürlich sind sie inzwischen wieder zurück in Deutschland. Doch immerhin ein paar Tage konnten sie zusammen in Kroatien verbringen...genauer gesagt in jenem Teil Kroatiens der (for better or worse) vielen Menschen gar nicht so kroatisch vorkommt. Es geht also um Instrien. Jene knapp 3500 Quadratkilometer große Halbinsel westlich von Rijeka und südlich von Triest. Wo das Meer blau, die römischen Amphiteater beeindruckend und die Menschen überraschend unnationalistisch sind. Es geht in dieser Sommerfolge also viel um Landschaft und Sehenswürdigkeiten. Aber auch um eine Mentalität des Miteinanders, die man auf dem Balkan eher selten findet - und die ziemlich vielen Patridioten egal welcher Nationalität ein Dorn im Auge ist. Nebenbei erfahrt Ihr, wie sich die politische Stimmung in Kroatien nach der als Konzert getarnten faschistischen Masseniszenierung von Fascho-Rocker Thompson geändert hat, wie die Kärntner Polizei mit Antifaschisten umgeht, die am Gedenkort eines SS-Massakers angeblich gegen die Camping-Verordnung (!) verstoßen und ob Krsto von Danijel diesmal mit Schnaps begrüßt wurde, wie es sich gehört.

bto#295 – Kaum eine Generation ist so egoistisch mit den Ressourcen des Landes umgegangen wie die heute regierende. Die Liste der Versäumnisse ist lang und erschreckend: verfallende Infrastruktur, rückständige Digitalisierung, zu schlechtes Bildungswesen, verfehlte Migrationspolitik und marode Bundeswehr. Die Politik der letzten Jahrzehnte hat die finanziellen Belastungen systematisch in die Zukunft verschoben und die neue schwarz-rote Bundesregierung ist angetreten, diese Generationenungerechtigkeit konsequent fortzusetzen: Die Sanierung der maroden Infrastruktur und die Subventionierung der untragbar gewordenen Energiekosten soll die künftige Generation ebenso schultern, wie sie auch die Herstellung der Verteidigungsfähigkeit bezahlen soll. Nebenher erlauben die als “Vermögen” verkauften Sonderschuldentöpfe auch noch die Beibehaltung viel zu hoher Konsumausgaben in den Haushalten von Bund und Ländern. Jene, die in den letzten Jahrzehnten in den Genuss der Steuermittelverwendung für konsumtive Ausgaben gekommen sind, werden auch künftig geschont. Das Rentenniveau wird festgeschrieben, die weitaus großzügigeren Pensionen nicht einmal als Problem erwähnt. Reformen sind also überfällig. Doch was ist noch möglich? Ist das gängige Renten-Narrativ wirklich so dramatisch, wie es oft dargestellt wird? Diese Hoffnung ist in den Verruf geraten, eine blosse Vertröstung aufs Jenseits zu sein. Im schlimmsten Fall führt sie sogar dazu, dass der Verweis auf eine jenseitige Belohnung dazu dient, die gegenwärtigen Unrechtsverhältnisse zu stabilisieren… Aber so ist die christliche Hoffnung nicht gemeint. Manuel und Stephan ergründen den Zusammenhang zwischen der Hoffnung in dieser Welt und der Hoffnung auf eine neue Welt. Die Überzeugung, dass das Leid und der Tod nicht das letzte Wort haben werden, ist eng verbunden mit der Motivation, die gegenwärtigen Verhältnisse zum Guten zu verändern. Du bist dabei – so seltsam das auch zu sein scheint, fast so schwer zu glauben wie die Auferstehung –, etwas zu bewerkstelligen, das zu gegebener Zeit Teil der neuen Welt Gottes werden wird. Jede Tat der Liebe, der Dankbarkeit, der Freundlichkeit; jedes Werk der Musik, inspiriert von der Liebe Gottes und von der Freude an der Schönheit seiner Schöpfung; jede Minute, die damit verbracht wurde, einem behinderten Kind Lesen oder Laufen beizubringen; jede Tat der Pflege und des Aufziehens, des Trostes und der Unterstützung von Mitmenschen und anderen Mitgeschöpfen und natürlich jedes Gebet, alle geistgeleitete Lehre, jede Tat, die das Evangelium verbreitet und die Kirche aufbaut, beinhaltet und verkörpert Heiligkeit statt Korrumpierung und hilft, dass der Name Jesu in der Welt geehrt wird – alle diese Dinge werden durch die Auferstehungskraft Gottes ihren Weg in die neue Schöpfung finden, die Gott eines Tages aufrichten wird.

So asking your employees, the people that are on the ground, what do you think will make this more efficient? What do you think will make this process better? Because they know. They work with the machines, they work with the material, so they know what would make it better, better than some consultant that you just brought in and think they know everything.12:11 - When you get a customer complaint, it usually has to do with a process, like you didn't do something efficiently, you didn't return this item, this item was faulty, something like that. Or this service - this service took too long, I booked my appointment, my time got taken, something like that. So, anytime there's a complaint, it has to do with the process. And people just try to be like, "Okay, we'll give you a credit, we'll give you this, we'll give you that." But they never really look at what is the real problem. The problem is in the process. It's how we're doing things. Because if we were doing things the right way, this wouldn't have happened, basically.17:30 - I said before, the standard operating procedures. So, once you have like a written manual of the steps of each process, you can show somebody once, you can give them the book, and then they can do it themselves. That cuts down training time. That cuts down training costs. But a lot of people don't do it that way. They do it the, well, watch me do this for a couple of days and then you'll just catch on. Like, it's not assimilation. People don't just catch on. I mean, I know every job that I went to, crazy enough, I would write notes when I was training, and people thought I was crazy because I was the only one writing notes. No, I need to know this like the back of my hand. I don't want to have to ask you every time. That's just the key. Just writing stuff down and training so that somebody else can see it so they don't need you to actually delegate it.26:50 - I got my name, so I was like, okay, this is my name. And then from there, I started, "What does this name mean? Resilience." Resilience, when I thought about that, it was a sunflower growing out of cracked concrete cement. And it's resilient because it can still grow out of that. It can still flourish. So, you have to think of it that way. Like, how can I pivot to make better, what steps I need to take?
