The Jerry Springer Podcast: Tales, Tunes and Tomfoolery is a weekly mix of comedy, liberal political talk and roots music performed by up and coming song writers and groups. Jerry is joined by Jene Galvin and Megan Hils as they compare their dissimilar lives, convo about events of the day and occasionally welcome a phone guest, some real and others you wonder. Like State Senator Tip Kemper, who recently proposed a literacy bill requiring citizens to read a book a month and submit a written report to the government at the post office. But in the middle of each episode, Jerry shows his serious side with a unique take on a current political or social issue drawing from his years as Cincinnati's mayor and top ranked news anchor. Performed before a small audience at the Folk School Coffee Parlor in Ludlow, Kentucky, The Jerry Springer Podcast is live streamed at jerrryspringer.com and Facebook Live and archived on the podcast's website and all major podcast apps. Republicans Have No Moral CompassRepublicans will vote for any Republican regardless of moral character or competence. There are no lines they won't cross if what's at stake is the next election. Herschel Walker has no more business being a United States senator than a twelve year old in terms of ability and knowledge. Georgia's election shouldn't even be close. If you're a Republican, wouldn't this be a good way to clean up the party's leadership by telling them you can't take our vote for granted, you must give us quality candidates to vote for or we're staying home. What Would Jerry Do?A Faustian bargain never ends well. Selling one's soul for an earthly prize. So it won't end well for Republicans who have sold their soul. That is any sense of honesty, morality, the Big Lie, to the extreme right wing empowered by Trump for a momentary victory in the primaries. A younger generation, indeed a multicultural one at that, is not likely to sign on what used to be a respected political party and is now a personality worshipping loyalty demanding cult. Don't Let Anyone Stop You From Voting. As it happened in Georgia in 2020, if everyone votes, the anti-democracy votes and the party that supports them cannot win. This is the one task that can make the Democratic party relevant again. It is the only thing that can make Democracy survive.Jene questioned the local Arch-diocese about the Priests abusing pre-teens while on the air on a Cincinnati radio station.Jene did something Jerry does regularly: He drove to Florida, arrived at 1:00 in the afternoon, and then turned around at 5:00 and drove back home nearly a thousand miles away, and slept that night in the back of his SUV in a rest stop in Georgia. He'll compare notes with Jerry about his recent road trips.Musical guest: Cole Chaneyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q329MTX1yIk See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
Lifelong Dem Jerry Springer Supports Liz Cheney With Campaign DonationJene gets us into a conversation about a new play dealing with the priest abuse scandal that's getting introduced in Cincinnati tonight. It's also getting sent to a theatre in LA that's interested in looking at it. (Remember, this situation exploded with publicity in 2002 through a series of stories by the Boston Globe but then quickly spread across the country, including in Cincinnati.)Cincinnati has a new mayor (Aftab Pureval - he traveled to his swearing in on a bicycle) that reminds us a lot of a former Cincinnati mayor, Jerry Springer. Our musical guest will be Cole Chaney, from Kentucky. Up and coming folk/country singer, been catching a good bit of press latelyhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zFRWuY1dy10 See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
We'll Be Back Next Week! In The Meantime, Here's Our Return To The U.S. From Cuba.Jerry, Jene and Megan went to Cuba last week — in this podcast, they recap the highlights of the trip, which include: -Jerry not being recognized by many Cubans because his show isn't on there. So Casey became the star. -Where was Megan for 28 hours? And why did they almost keep her in Cuba at the very end? -Jene was the most invisible member of the delegation who said very little. (Remember, team, what is said in Cuba STAYS in Cuba!) -Jerry said to a ranking government official at dinner, “You want some?” -Jerry singing “I Saw Her Standing There” on the Malecon Wall with a crowd gathering to hear but no one knowing he's a US celebrity. He earned their love with talent. -The “ranking govt. official “ who told us at dinner about being jailed, tortured and exiled by Batista for 11 days before returning when the revolution was won and Fidel, Che, Raul and others paraded into Havana victorious, and going sleepless for 8 days among a jubilant celebration. -Realizing that music is the universal language. Happy Holidays! We're taking a look back on our trip to Cuba this week and next week, while we take a break over the holidays. The show starts with the gang discussing what they should take to Cuba to offer as representative of our American culture since we're gong on a “people-to-people” trip? CDs of folk artists? Flyers promoting “Would you like to date Megan?” Jerry Springer Unplugged tapes for VCRs? Jerry Springer Panties from his show's souvenir store? Jerry then discusses why Bernie Sanders supporters should not deride Hillary Clinton in the primaries, considering future implications for the party and election. Jerry tells the story of the time he gave the key to Cincinnati to Bob Dylan. Jene tells about the time the little person KKK guy came on Jerry's TV show. Our musical guest is Findlay Napier, and he'll be joining us from his home country of Scotland via Skype. He's one of the artists who responded to our Songwriters' Stump on our website. This will show our technological savvy and reach. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
