Hi loves! Happy Monday! Sending you all so much love, light, deep breathes and all the good vibes I can send !! Keeping it real over here, we are also navigating this new "normal" and all the feelings that have come with it. Ali was also under the weather the last week so that added to everything! We are fashionably late this Monday, but have such a gem for you to listen too! Meet Amy Griffith, mama of 4 and prenatal & post yoga instructor who really talks about our breathe today and the importance of it! Wow, she isn't kidding with all of us starting this week! Taking deep breathes alone, can really help re-center all of us and our mind set, but especially as worried, emotional, anxious mothers at this unknown time. Amy started as a Rockette, a professional dancer in NYC before she got into this mindful practice and became a mama!! Amy and Ali chat today about Amy's journey and her dreams of always being on that NYC stage and how that career came to an end and how she happily transitioned. Amy shares the craziness of production life and being a dancer and how that taught her so much in motherhood. Ali and Amy both share how challenging motherhood can be, the lessons you truly learn as a mama but also about yourself. The messy behind the scenes of it all, being go getters and more! Ali and Amy also talk about allowing yourself to "sit in your shit", and feel all your emotions and work through them and Amy mentions but don't "live there". In otherwards FEEL it, and then move past it. Gratitude practices, journaling, whatever it may be! Today comes at the perfect time, as there is so much everywhere right now and rocking all of us!! Hey there Mamas! I see you, I feel you and I understand your struggle. It’s my mission to help you drop the mom guilt, stop feeling overwhelmed, embrace your body, let go the ridiculous expectations you have, release shame and all the “shoulds” you have for yourself!! Join my guest, Amy Griffith, and I talk about how to surrender to YOUR UNIQUE journey of motherhood! Learn how to embrace the mess, ask for help (and not try to do everything!!) and take things one moment at a time. About Amy Griffith Amy grew up dancing since age 5 and has been fortunate to make a career out of it. After experiencing life as a dancer in New York City and learning more about determination, hope, struggle, and community than she ever thought she would, the transition to yoga seemed natural to her. Stepping onto her mat and out of the constant, electrifying buzz that is city life, gave her the opportunity to simply slow down. Yoga taught her how to breathe, how to really listen to her body and how to find more compassion for herself and for others. Amy received her certification through The Prenatal Yoga Center and learned just how strong women are. Amy believes that "Our bodies are designed to create life and birth can be positive!" She was inspired and determined to share this positivity with her students. Having experienced two home births and one hospital birth, she's witnessed the power of trusting her body. "I learned that there is a strength within us that is revealed during pregnancy, then birth, then motherhood." Today’s guest, Amy Griffith uses the calming power of yoga and relaxed breathing to slow her life down and to enjoy the present moment. She utilizes these techniques daily as a mother, and found them to be invaluable during each of her four births - including her recent twins’ birth that didn’t go according to plan at all. Amy gets personal on her first two empowering homebirths and the dramatic tale of her twins’ birth, including being threatened with a court order if she didn’t agree to a cesarean. A force to be reckoned with, Amy didn’t back down and secretly pushed her first baby out. We have been so excited to share this story since we first heard about it! We get into how yoga and breathwork affect our pregnancy, birth and postpartum experiences, and the joy she feels in helping other women through their motherhood journeys. As a professional dancer in New York City, Amy used yoga to counter the hustle and bustle of city life. She has always been fascinated with pregnancy and after her first baby, she decided to create videos for expectant mothers that focus on positivity, presence, stillness, and healing. Her collection of videos now includes postnatal care and she offers postnatal fitness classes locally in Erie, Pennsylvania.
