Did someone ski more than me this winter? Improvements were made to the sprinter! Seder-skier can't handle Boulder..... Two insane performances in track and field that haven't been discussed are noted, including the most dramatic progression/improvement I've seen ever in a female collegiate athlete. Then, we talk about whether or not training devices are valuable for you - you might be surprised by our answer. We also take a stance on the David Norris cut from Team USA, as well as sponsorship challenges for one particular Bowerman Babe. As always, we rant a little too much and flavor our long, rambling dissertations with a touch of philosophical, theological, and probably life changing insights, which are, to be frank, completely necessary. --- Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/seder-skier/support

Colleen Quigley, Episode 3 guest this season, never grew up wanting to be an Olympic athlete. In fact, she had…
In the intro, we break down the recently announced London and Boston Marathon fields, including perhaps the greatest field ever assembled for a women's marathon. Plus, Chris gives his way too early picks for the wins in both races. Then, at 17:45, episode #67 guest Colleen Quigley comes on to help break the ice with Kate Grace with fun questions about the #BowermanBabes. We get answers to pressing questions such as "which Bowerman Babe is the biggest Bachelor fan?" After that, we turn to an all-encompassing discussion with Kate on her journey from high school soccer player to 800m Olympic Finalist in Rio. Learn about the ups and downs of her journey with lessons that she has learned along the way about life, dreaming big, injury, and much more! It was only a matter of time until Hurdle had a hurdler (of sorts) on the podcast. Colleen Quigley didn’t grow up dreaming of going to the Olympics to compete in the steeple chase. After joining the track team her freshman year of high school and finding her fast, the St. Louis native geared up for a collegiate running career at Florida State University that would eventually lead her to turn pro as a Nike-sponsored athlete. In the year prior to the 2016 Summer Games, Quigley dealt with a major #hurdlemoment—a nasty hamstring injury—that almost derailed her from hitting the track in Rio. In episode 30, I sit down with the Bowerman Babe to chat her ever-evolving dreams, a brief stint in modeling, and how it feels to be a role model for young athletes around the world. — @steeple_squigs @bowermantc @hurdlepodcast --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/hurdle/message
“It’s hard. I go and put the work in and see a glimmer of hope and then get my butt handed to me a week later. It’s difficult. But I know what I want to do and what I believe I’m capable of doing, and I know I just need to continue to work.” —Gwen Jorgensen When Gwen Jorgensen was on the Ali on the Run Show earlier this year, she had recently moved to Portland, OR, and had just announced her next big goal: to transition from an Olympic gold medal-winning triathlete to an Olympic gold medal-winning marathoner. Gwen has been training with the Bowerman Track Club, under the leadership of Coach Jerry Schumacher, and she's back on the show to give us all an update on how her 2020 pursuit is going. Plus, she talks about how becoming a mom to one-year-old Stanley has changed the game for her, and what she's learned from her fellow Bowerman Babes. In our intro, we get answers to critical questions such as: "What did Steve and Chris link of the Women's Steeple race in Monaco?" Hint: Wow. "Did Des Linden listen to and respond directly to one of Steve's running rants?" Hint: Definitely not, but she disagrees with Steve on at least one thing. "What kind of listeners are we hoping to speak to?" Hint: It's not about your weekly mileage. Then at 28:15 into the podcast, we start our interview with guest Marielle Hall. Marielle is a former athlete of Steve's from the University of Texas, now badass Bowerman Babe and Olympian from Rio in the 10,000m. Marielle shares great insights on the mental side of the sport including how she has dealt with ups and downs in her career, what she thinks about to deal with race pressure, and what she does to stay motivated. Listen in and be a fan of Marielle!
