What happens when a health plan stops trying to optimize a legacy system and instead rebuilds the model itself? In this episode of Bright Spots in Healthcare, Eric Glazer sits down with Patrick Quigley, CEO and co-founder of Sidecar Health, for a candid conversation about redesigning health insurance around transparency, incentives, and consumer agency. Rather than focusing on incremental reform, this discussion explores what changes when members can see prices before they receive care, when benefits are structured around clear dollar amounts instead of opaque contracts, and when savings can be shared directly with the individual making the decision. Patrick walks through why traditional insurance design obscures cost and distorts behavior, how employers are responding to rising spend and limited visibility, and what it takes operationally to challenge long standing assumptions about how plans should work. Using examples from employer adoption, member purchasing behavior, and provider pricing dynamics, the conversation surfaces how transparency becomes more than a feature. It becomes the foundation for accountability and market discipline. This episode is designed for health plan leaders, employers, and innovators who are no longer asking whether affordability is a problem, but are questioning whether the current structure can solve it. In this episode, we cover: Why price opacity persists in traditional insurance models What changes when members see real time, upfront pricing How defined benefit structures alter purchasing decisions Why employers are increasingly open to alternative plan design How financial alignment influences utilization patterns The operational realities of building a new insurance model What industry leaders must unlearn to create sustainable affordability About Patrick Quigley: Patrick Quigley is the CEO and co-founder of Sidecar Health, a health insurance company built on a transparency first model. Under his leadership, the organization has focused on creating plans that show members clear prices, allow them to choose providers freely, and share savings when care costs less than expected. His work centers on restoring consumer visibility and aligning incentives across members, providers, and employers to address the structural drivers of healthcare cost growth. Carmen joins Luke in his hovel today. A keen internet historian, Quigley had been updating her instagram followers on the recent invasion of Asian hornets to Ireland (yes this episode was recorded a long time ago) and thus the pair dive into an episode on the weird and wonderful world of Ireland's native stinging buzzball- THE BEE.There are a whole host of strangely intricate and intricately strange laws dedicated to the Bee in ancient Brehon Law. As well this Duchás.ie is absolutely buzzing with weird superstitions, funny fairytales and Bee-obsessed facts and folklore.A graduate of fine arts, archaeology and classics it doesn't take long to see how these three areas intersect in Carmen's work. Quigley's illustrations draw from ancient history, as well as Irish and Greek mythology. But her elastic imagination, embodies the spirit of Irish mythology better than any attempt at clinical documentation. The pair discuss how Dublin's hidden holy wells and Irish oddities have inspired her work.

In this episode of the Milk Road Show, Quigley delivers a blunt assessment of where crypto stands today: no clear pattern, no reliable upside, and a market that has quietly entered randomness. Bitcoin didn't collapse… but it also didn't deliver the upside that historically justified its risk. And once patterns break, investors lose their edge.~~~~~
In this week's episode of So There I Was, Ike joins us with stories so wild they make the Quigley, Beirut, and Cherry Point weather sound like minor inconveniences. We open with Ike casually mentioning that he once found himself upside-down over the North Atlantic at night — because of course he did. From growing up under the Nashville approach path to being choked in boot camp for laughing, to nearly “smoking” the British ambassador in Beirut when his door gunner got jumpy, Ike's journey from farm kid to single-seat attack pilot is a rollercoaster with no safety bar. We hit everything: CH-46 shenanigans, A-4 aileron rolls where drop tanks were definitely still attached, Harrier culture, maintenance-shop misery, and why flying vertical is basically a religion. Add in toilet installations on mountain peaks, British PT instructors who try to kill you, and Marines being Marines… and you've got an episode that is equal parts chaos, nostalgia, and aviation gold. Dive in with Senior Leader, JR Quigley to learn how and why Jesus is king, and its implications for us.
Shirlene Quigley started training in dance at 16, taking four to six classes a day at Millennium Dance Complex, and that was before she knew dance could be a job. A year in, she learned what a dancer could get paid on tour, and it wasn't long before she got an agent and was touring herself! Shirlene loved dancing but wasn't prepared for how the industry was going to push her to be the "sexy girl," which was never who she really was. Her pictures, clothes, and dance moves felt like a different girl, but soon she started to crave the affirmation and applause, so she stepped into her new persona. She became what they wanted and did all the things she thought would make her cool. Years later, Shirlene went though something difficult, and she started talking to (maybe yelling at) God, reading the Bible, and going to church. And that was when God redirected her dance path in a new way that better aligned with her true self. Tune in to learn how it all happened and why Shirlene is so content with her current dance career and life. Follow our dance journeys on Instagram: @ShirleneQuigley@DanceJourneyPodcast@TracyinLA

Why are we more susceptible to coming down with something like a cold or the flu at the turn of a season or change of humidity or temperature? And what really helps? Gerald Quigley joins me on the podcast this week. He's a 50+ year pharmacist, a 40+ year herbalist, Fellow of the Naturopaths and Herbalists Association of Australia and Fellow of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society. With a wealth of experience and having seen more than a trend or two come and go, Gerald shares the truest things that support you, as well as tackling some of the questions people often have about confusing things they learn/are trying to make sense of in health: Is B6 really toxic? Is Paracetamol truly that bad for us? Do I need medication for arthritis and osteopenia when my doctor or the internet says XYZ?We discuss how to move forward towards better patient care and greater empowerment of people in our own inspiration for cultivating a healthy state.I hope you find it as interesting a conversation as I did, Enjoy the showAlexx xWant to learn more about this week's guest? Music transforms our hearts." - Christopher Quigley Christopher Quigley spent his working life assisting artists and architects create their own incredible public art works around the world, yet it wasn't until a pair of massive strokes nearly took his life, that he decided to embrace his own inner artist. Moved by the tragic murder of Elaine Mosher and his own experience of childhood violence Christopher began developing a social art piece to address the ongoing tragedy of gender-based and intimate partner violence. This project is Transformation of Dangerous Spaces and will be an interactive, multi-sensory art exhibit that will address the very nature of consent and violence. To bring this and other such moving pieces to life, Christopher created Alchemia Art Workshop, a national non-profit designated to produce socially engaged, transformative public art. While the conversation is one of a serious and important topic, we found a certain degree of levity and even camaraderie during our discussion. In this episode, we sit down with William Quigley, co-founder of Tether and WAX, to unpack why he thinks the Bitcoin cycle is broken, why DATs are a terrible idea, and how smart investors should actually plan their entries and exits. Quigley has over 40 years of investing experience, and he's not here to sugarcoat anything. If you're blindly riding the bull market without a plan, you're exactly who this episode is for.~~~~~

It's part two of the DWSC's jaunt to the Ventnor Fringe last month, and today we're joined by local MP for Isle of Wight West, Richard Quigley, who told us about his mother's misdemeanours on his childhood haircuts, as well as the time he witnessed a robbery as a student. The team then delves into a story of an eccentric leader, who would still be preferable to some of today's real life offerings. We also hear about the time Taylor married The Hoff and when the Isle of Wight attempted to have its own currency. Finally we hear from a member of the audience who seeks answers for a crime connected to an ill-advised teenage party with a whole host of subjects to choose from.
