"I needed to have the year I had to really give me the push to make the changes I made." In 2022, Sinclaire Johnson cemented her spot as a middle-distance rising star when she broke the women's 1500m tape at the U.S. National Championships. Since then, the Nike-sponsored athlete has made a lot of changes on the run. She transitioned from Jerry Schumacher's Bowerman Track Club to Union Athletics Club, where she was coached by Pete Julian. Last year — a year when she finished fourth in the 1500m at the Olympic Track & Field Trials — Sinclaire knew it was time to change it up again, this time opting to forgo a team environment and be coached by her fiancé, Craig Nowak. Now, with a fresh 3:56 1500m PR from the 2024 Trials, Sinclaire is in the middle of her indoor season. She ran a personal best in the mile (4:23.58) at New Balance Indoor Grand Prix, where she finished third, and then finished sixth in the Wanamaker Mile at the Millrose Games in New York City. This weekend, Sinclaire will race at U.S. Indoor Nationals. “But also in the back of my mind, and with talking to Craig [Nowak], was that I would have so much regret if I stopped now. I feel like I have not reached my potential and that's the biggest thing that I want to do: be able to see how fast I can go and how far I can go.”My guest for today's episode is Sinclaire Johnson. She's the 2023 U.S. 1500m champion, a two-time world championship finalist, and the sixth-fastest American woman in history at 1500m. Sinclaire has proven time and time again that she belongs among the best–not just in the United States, but also in the world. But the road hasn't always been easy. 2024 was a year of highs and lows for her: a two-second personal best and a stunning 3:56 at the Olympic Trials final, but also a 4th place finish that left her just outside of the team for Paris. Adding in her two injuries that disrupted both her Trials buildup and her postseason, it's been a year of recalibrating. It's also been a year of reassessing and figuring out what comes next.In this episode, we get into the emotional rollercoaster of the Trials, her decision to leave the Union Athletics Club, why she's taking full control of her training under the guidance of her fiancé, Craig Nowak. We also talk about what she's learned from years of navigating injuries, her new approach to staying healthy, and how she's setting herself up for success in 2025, starting with this weekend's U.S. Indoor Track and Field Championships.Host: Chris Chavez | @chris_j_chavez on Instagram Guest: Sinclaire Johnson | @sinclairejohnson on InstagramSUPPORT OUR SPONSORSKETONE-IQ: Level up your training with Ketone-IQ – a clean shot of energy with no sugar or caffeine. On January 6, 2021, we watched on live television as Donald Trump and several Republican members of Congress incited a violent attempted overthrow of our democracy. This insurrection led to several deaths, including police officers who later died by suicide. When Joe Biden was sworn in as President in January 2021, Democrats controlled both chambers of Congress. Instead of using their time in power to pass a resolution or bill banning Trump and his supporters from holding office under the 14th Amendment's "insurrection clause" (Section 3), they held hearings that concluded with a report and a referral to the Department of Justice for possible criminal prosecution. In the 2022 midterms, Democrats lost the House due to America's worsening gerrymandering crisis. Attorney General Merrick Garland waited two years to appoint Special Prosecutor Jack Smith. While some credit the Democrats' January 6 committee for prompting Garland to take action, the reality is that both Democrats and Garland wasted valuable time. In the four years since January 6, 2021, no resolution or bill was passed in Congress to enforce the insurrection clause of the 14th Amendment. Instead, a group of voters and legal experts attempted to bar Trump from the ballot in Colorado, leading to legal cases such as Trump v. Anderson. In early 2024, the Supreme Court ruled that states could not bar federal candidates, and that applying the 14th Amendment was up to Congress. So, why didn't Democrats act in 2021 and 2022 when they had two years to enforce the U.S. Constitution? We need an honest accounting of how an insurrectionist will be president just four years after leading a violent attempt to overthrow our democracy. Democrats deferred to Merrick Garland, who then deferred to Jack Smith, who ultimately dismissed his Trump cases in November 2024, after Trump won one of the closest elections in U.S. history. This election took place amid rampant disinformation and the consolidation of far-right media, including Elon Musk's takeover of Twitter, turning it into a platform for (pro-Trump and Russia) disinformation–the largest in the world. At the same time, Republicans and the Supreme Court over the years undermined the Voting Rights Act and expanded voter ID laws–a modern day poll tax, disenfranchising 21 million Americans. As Andrea and Terrell discuss in this week's episode, the 2024 election was neither free nor fair. The institutions meant to protect us failed. As Gaslit Nation has long warned, an unpunished attempted coup leads to a successful one. The institutionalists and controlled opposition who enabled this crisis don't realize they are not safe either. Once a dictator is in power, no one can control them. We also point out that George Orwell warned us about fascist bootlickers like Trump/Musk fanboy Lex Fridman, whose three-hour interview with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky can be summed up by Orwell's quote: "Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind." Gaslit Nation officially calls on Lex Fridman to stop quoting Orwell on his podcast—Orwell would have hated you. Want to enjoy Gaslit Nation ad-free? What is a piss enema like? What's the secret she knows about all frat boys? Ava is a 4'11” switch and tells us how it all started with discovering vanilla porn when she was 12, what happened when her stepdad later caught her watching hardcore lesbian gang bangs, why she loves porn, what it was like to tell her family, how dicks get in the way of squirting, what it's like to meet fans working at Sheri's Ranch Brothel, shoot software porn for conservative countries that don't show insertion, why she's very particular about Domme work. We learn about her love of horror porn, fantasy of being a victim princess who is fucked by a clown, and she shares this brilliant wisdom: “the more you give, the more you get—if they are happy, you will be happier.” And she I agree: WE WANT A FUCKING GANGBANG.

Join Kristen as she chats with Morgan Sinclair, a dietitian turned branding extraordinaire, business coach, strategist, podcast host, and international trip leader. In this conversation, Kristen and Morgan discuss what it really feels like to run your own business. This week's guest is Taryn Rawlings of Dark Sky Distance. Taryn is an Oregon native and graduate of the University of Portland who competed in the 1500 meters at the 2021 Olympic Trials after a year of battling injuries, and following a disappointing Trials performance, went on to set personal bests of 4:05 in the 1500 and 4:28 in the mile later this summer. We had a great conversation about bouncing back from setbacks, how to get through the stresses of the pandemic, and whether she prefers the mile or the 1500. We also covered binge-watching, side hustles, hanging with the “Portland Mafia,” and much more. This episode is brought to you by the Under Armour All Out Mile. During the month of September, UA encourages you to train for your fastest mile ever in only 30 days. It's free to sign up and you can win cash prizes, gear, and raise money for charity by joining our Citius Mag team and making Citius the biggest team in the competition. To sign up and learn more, visit UAAllOutMile.com. On training in Portland for the summer: “It's been so nice. I met some of them [Portland-based pros] in college, so it was kind of fun to come back and be training with them. It's been perfect because Sinclaire and I have been able to train together a bit, which has been so nice, and having the running squad traveling to meets too… you have this extra support crew there which is fun and super helpful.” On being added to Trials late following the Shelby Houlihan news: “It was a wild week… I was initially thinking, ‘I'm not going to get in,' and it got to the point where it scratched down to me being the first person out, and I was like, ‘ugh, that sucks.' And then everything came out with Shelby […] I didn't want to say anything, because this is such a crappy situation, and it makes me feel so bad if the only reason I get to run is if she gets pulled out [….] It was kinda a whirlwind, but I was definitely happy for the opportunity to get to run in the end.” On moving forward to set personal bests after Trials: “My mindset really shifted from the Trials to ‘what can I get out of this season still.' It just took a few good workouts for me to get the confidence back, and there was no pressure because I had been through so much the past year just to get back to the starting line. I just wanted to have fun with it again and compete.” “[after trials] it just took a few good workouts for me to get the confidence back, and there was no pressure because I had been through so much the past year just to get back to the starting line. I just wanted to have fun with it again and compete.”

This episode is all about loveeeeee. Wanting love, searching for love, finding love, attracting love, and being in love. But manifesting a soulmate is about so much more than knowing what you want and calling that in. It is about truly understanding yourself and learning to love you for you. I t's also about loving life - because the energy you emit is going to be reflected back to you in a partner. Emyrald Sinclaire has helped thousands of women change their lives through her coaching and online courses. Though many women come to her for help finding love, they ultimately realize that the foundational step to doing so is finding love within themselves. Please enjoy this sweet, love-filled and love-inspired conversation! Connect with Emyrald by visiting her website: emyraldsinclaire.com or DM her on Instagram @ManifestWithEmyrald --- Connect with Julia on Instagram: @DreamYourLifeNow Email: julia@dreamyourlifenow.com QUOTES “When it comes to loving who you are, it means you're OK with who you are and you are OK with spending time alone. And you are OK and confident and courageous in saying ‘No' when you mean No and ‘Yes' when you mean Yes. And even beyond that, it means you believe in yourself, you believe in your dreams, and you believe it can all manifest.” “It's not just about the guy, but the processes are the same: you search inside of you and find that well of remembrance of who you truly are...you have to believe in yourself and believe it is possible.” “A lot of people are allowing life to happen to them, instead of making life work for them.” “At the core, if you want to manifest anything, it doesn't matter what it is. It's what you believe is possible for you which has to do with self love, and what you believe is possible in the world, which has to do with trusting The Universe.” “Here's the thing: you don't have to believe in Manifestation for it to work for you. Just like you don't have to believe in the Law of Gravity for it to work for you. Manifestation quite simply is going to happen in your life as a natural result of how you're feeling and what you believe. So if your reality is not matching what you desire, you really only need to look at your belief systems and your dominant feelings.” “Spoiler alert: when I work with clients and they think it's about The Guy, it's not about the guy, it's about quality of life. And when you increase your quality of life and how you're feeling and thinking and believing, the guy is going to show up as a natural reflection of that.”
Stalking for love? Busting into her board meeting as a grand gesture? Romanticizing non-consent? No doesn't mean no? Nicole, Sinclaire, and Alba discuss how harmful chick flick tropes are and how they send the wrong message to men and women.
Local history teacher Mr. Robinson discusses the ratio of men vs women in his history textbook and how he ditches his curriculum to include more women. Nicole and Sinclaire also ask about which women are most overlooked in history textbooks, brilliance bias, and a common criticism of "telling women's stories is just injecting women into the historical narrative."
Academy and Emmy Award winning director Freida Lee Mock discusses how Ruth Bader Ginsburg broke down equal rights barriers in her own life and through her work on landmark cases in the Supreme Court. Sinclaire and Alba also ask Freida why RBG became such an icon of the women's rights movement so recently, and what inspired her unique approach in directing "Ruth: Justice Ginsburg In Her Own Words."
