Most note investors don't start out investing in notes. Most of the time they start out trying different types of real estate investing until they get frustrated or tied and look for something that gives them the benefit of cash flow without having to be in charge of toilets, tenants, or trashouts. This is even true for Canadian real estate investors looking to invest in the United States and take advantage of our favorable investing and banking laws. Cal Ewing is one of those Candadian investors who is looking to build long term wealth and a better life for himself and his family.Scott Carson sits down with Cal to discuss how he got started as a real estate investor his journey to becoming a note investor and why he likes notes when compared to other real estate investing strategies.Watch the original video HERE!Connect with Cal at http://CalEwing.comCal Ewing was born and raised on a cattle ranch situated on the foothills of the Rocky Mountains in Alberta, Canada but his real estate journey has taken him far beyond his roots. Since his days as a university student in 2009, he has been passionately investing in U.S. real estate, with his first deal taking place in Las Vegas, Nevada amidst the real estate market crash and wave of foreclosures that hit Las Vegas especially hard.Over the years, Cal's investment strategy has undergone a significant evolution, leading him to explore the realm of performing and non-performing mortgage notes on residential properties across the United States. During our podcast, Cal will delve into the reasons behind his affinity for note investing, choosing it over conventional approaches like owning rental properties, wholesaling, or flipping houses.Cal's extensive experience encompasses various aspects of real estate, including tax deed investing, foreclosure excess proceeds recovery, fix and flips, long-term rentals, wholesaling, "wholetailing," buying subject-to, and owner financing. This wealth of knowledge and experience has shaped him into a well-rounded and informed real estate investor. As a Canadian investing in U.S. real estate from his home country for the past 14 years, Cal offers a unique perspective on cross-border real estate investment and the associated challenges. He has firsthand experience navigating the complexities of investing in a different country. Moreover, Cal has weathered the storms—both metaphorical and literal—as a real estate investor. When Hurricane Harvey struck, two of his Houston properties fell victim to flooding, leading to devastating losses. Instead of succumbing to defeat, Cal transformed adversity into resilience, emerging as a stronger investor and discovering valuable lessons about perseverance.Love the show? It was a delight for me to interview Peter Jennings, who I considered the best ever News Anchor on television. He story is amazing. A high school drop out, Peter was able to climb the ladder of one of the most competitive businesses in the world. Despite his father's help, a famous Candadian broadcaster who dispised nepotism, Peter went on to dominate American national television news. His story is an inspiring one that proves with determination and talent, one can overcome their obstacles to reach the pinnacle of their chosen profession.

The podcast crew was finally back at it again for another episode on Thanksgiving week. It has been a while so everyone was a bit rusty and things got weird, but we cover everything happening in the SKC-verse right now. The expansion draft is done and the roster moves have been announced. We share what we like and of course what we didn't like, for the team as well as for our hearts. Peter Vermes can now focus on filling in any holes he sees on the roster and we'll tell you what we would like to see. You'll get a full rundown of all the players who are out but Jimmy Medranda is the one that hurts us the most. But we talk about how and why this happened so we can begin the stages of grieving. Seth Sinovic is another fan favorite that sparks a debate about Sporting Legends that brings in the departure of Benny Feilhaber as well. We cover the Adrian Zendejas trade and the current keeper situation. Although Dick jokes are very difficult to avoid. Is there anyone you are happy to see gone? The frustrating Krisztian Nemeth and his salary sure are a weight off SKC shoulders. After the break we look at the remaining players currently on the roster and anyone we are surprised to see. Botond Barath survived the expansion draft and Andreu Fontas is back for another year, but should we be surprised? With the Expansion Draft complete and roster moves announced, we can look ahead at what Sporting Kansas City needs on the roster for the 2020 campaign. The long-standing, all-to-obvious, mythical DP striker is the first topic of discussion. We take a long look at the rumors about Candadian international Lucas Cavallini. Daniel loves the idea of this and he will get you excited about this potential acquisition. What other holes need filled on this roster? Bob wants to see some speed/athleticism on the back line. We talk about the midfield and try to decide if Daniel Salloi and Gerso Fernandes are enough on the left wing to be successful. This was a long podcast but you can't have a show about Major League Soccer and not talk about the dumpster fire that is the Chicago Fire FC rebrand. Learn more about your ad choices.
