Wilson lead singer Chad Nicefield returns to the show to talk about Wilson calling it day. They catch up on all sorts of stuff that has happened since the 2018 release of their album Tasty Nasty leading up to what will be their final show Dec. 28 at the Crofoot complex in Pontiac. All sorts of Fuckery. http://houseoffuckery.com/ After almost a decade long of global fuckery, Wilson has done the opposite of what every other band seems to do—they stopped taking shit so seriously! In the process of their, “personal awakening” they forged a new path for themselves and their sound by combining their brand of in-your-face rock n roll with the influence of Hip-Hop and all things 90s. Tasty Nasty is fresh, exciting, and most importantly fun! And it all started with a hit of acid. Wilson's vocalist, Chad Nicefield, took a trip to Asia with his friends to pursue happiness. Once he experimented with acid he had a revelation about his life and his outlook on the band’s music changed everything. “I just kind of realized who we are as people and our DNA was that of a bunch of lovable, silly dudes, that love to make music," says Nicefield. "The world needs to know that about us. That needs to be in transparent our music.” Now with no worries or inhibitions holding them back, the guys in Wilson embark on a journey through nostalgia and endearing nonsense on eleven brand new tracks. The opening track, “Dumptruck” is a sonic punch to the face as it kicks in with gang vocals chanting, “This shit bumps, this shit fucks, this shit dumps like a dump truck.” Followed by roaring guitar riffs and a chorus that really does “fuck”, the opener is a perfect dose to set your mind up for the next 35 some-odd-minutes. “Wrong Side of History” follows a Bizkit-ish path, leading you straight into the fever. From that moment on you’re on their ride. With hints of the decade that shaped their musical tastes, combined with slick production and big singalong choruses, Tasty Nasty is equal parts self-deprecating and hilarious. This acid is one hell of a drug, as the fever dream truly kicks in, songs such as “Like A Baller” “My Hustle” and “Summertime Treat” are there to prove it! It’s not until track ten do you get a throwback to the old, heavier side of Wilson with, “House of Fuckery.” But that’s not what this record is about. It’s about looking ahead, not staring in the rearview mirror. And that, my friends, is Tasty Nasty.
This episode we are joined by Chad Nicefield of Wilson. Chad shares his personal journeys that helped shape the new iteration of the band, the inner workings behind the new album Tasty Nasty, what it's like to do the Shiprocked Cruise, and much more.
The Detroit rock and roll band Wilson sound like they are all just about the party and the good times, While that may true at times there is still a giant business machine behind them and most rock bands or artists we love. There is a lot more to the behind the scenes than you may think. It even almost destroyed the dudes known as Wilson. It's time to go behind the rock with lead singer Chad Nicefield. Also enjoy the picture of Kayite wearing the gold plated Wilson t-shirt. She wanted to be a baller while having this conversation.

This was a chat I had with Chad Nicefield, singer of Wilson. This interview was done for a feature I was writing on the band, but have been sitting on this audio and there's a lot of things we talked about that didn't end up in the feature so figured I'd release it as a podcast. We discuss the beginning of the band, as well discussing how the band got the opportunity to record with Steve Evetts, and the decision to change a bit of the sound on their most recent album "Right to Rise" as well as discussing what it was like to play in the bataclan shortly after the Paris attacks and the shootings that took place inside the venue during an eagles of death metal show. Wilson Frontman has Strict "No Bowling Policy" for Guitarist, Bassist Minneapolis, MN (July 31st, 2016) - Wilson frontman Chad Nicefield announces his strict "no bowling policy" for his guitarist and bassist, risks of hostels while on European tours, drinking violently and, like all guests of Cobras & Fire, his support to remake the KISS classic Phantom of the Park. Catch Wilson on their fall tour with Sevendust, Crobot and Twelve Foot Ninja that includes the fests High Elevation and Rock Allegiance. Who is Wilson? They are the best band and export from Detroit since the Stroh's 30 Pack and has earned Cobras & Fire Podcast's mushroom stamp of approval. But don't take it from us. Here's their official press release: Wilson is not an "internet band". They’re five dudes in a van with beards and big dicks- working harder than your parents. But instead of giving their all as stockbrokers or auto-mechanics or assistant branch managers their job is to destroy your party. Forget debates about the music industry, about download analytics, mp3 singles, and the “charts”. Screw genres. All that has nothing to do with music. But when that Wilson van cruises into your town that shit is REAL. Real MUSIC. Real LIFE. Real LOUD. Real SWEATY. And real FUN. http://wilsonpartyanimals.com https://www.facebook.com/wilsonparties https://twitter.com/wilsonparties About Cobras & Fire: Cobras & Fire is a rock podcast with a silly name focused on sharing new music from bands that have the hooks, melody and attitude of classic rock bands.
