Hilkka Olkinuora on lukenut Ylen artikkelin, joka alkaa sanoilla "viranomaiset ovat jo pitkään keränneet ilmiantoja työttömistä". Sana ilmianto herätti Hilkassa stalinistiset vibat. Juttu käsitteli työttömyysetuuksien väärinkäyttöä työnteon, opiskelun tai yritystoiminnan salaamisella. Viranomainen sanoi jutussa innoissaan, että kuka tahansa voi ilmiantaa nimettömästi vaikka sukulaisensa. Olemmeko siirtymässä luottamusyhteiskunnasta ilmiantoyhteiskuntaan mm. sen vuoksi, että viranomaisvalvontaa halvemmaksi tulee kansalaisvalvonta? Petja Kopperoinen nostaa puheenaiheeksi peukun eli muuntohuume Alfa-PVP:n. Nyt kun luo katseen mediaan, jokaisesta tuutista tulee kauhukuvia siitä, mitä peukku aiheuttaa, mistä sitä löytyy, mitä se maksaa ja miten pitää peukun käyttäjiä pelätä kotimatkalla. Muun muassa rikostarkastaja Kimmo Sainio otti kantaa Ylen Uutispodcastissa, että huumeista pitäisi puhua niiden oikeilla nimillä, ettei huumausaine muutu tavanomaiseksi, eli pitäisi puhua Alfa-PVP:stä eikä peukusta. Sainion mukaan ilmiöstä tulee myös hyväksyttävämpää, kun mediassa puhutaan peukusta ja samalla viihdekäytöstä. Petja toteaa tietoisuuden lisäämisen olevan asialle hyväksi, mutta onko tällä nykyisellä uutisoinnilla enää mitään muuta tarkoitusta, kuin aiheuttaa pakokauhua meissä "vähän paremmissa" ihmisissä. Minkä takia huumeista puhutaan lempinimillä ja näin arkipäiväistetään koko huumeiden käyttöä? Mika Pantzar kertoo tutustuneensa 12-vuotiaana Helsingin pörssiin isoisänsä innostamana. Tämän vierailun jälkeen Mika ryhtyi sijoittajaksi. Mika osallistui 14-vuotiaana Fennia Patrian yhtiökokoukseen, jossa läsnä oli 12 ruotsin kieltä puhuvaa pukumiestä, kun hän oli paikalla villapaitaan pukeutuneena, eikä ymmärtänyt kokouksesta yhtään mitään. Tämän kokouksen jälkeen hän ei ole vieraillut yhdessäkään osakkaiden kokouksessa. - Tämä nuoruuteni tarina liittyy siihen, että tänä päivänä suhtaudun aika kriittisesti tällaiseen sijoittajavetoiseen maailmaan. Ennen vanhaan piti aina säästää, mutta tänä päivänä nuorilla on käsitys, että nyt pitää sijoittaa. Osittain tämä on eläketurvakysymys, heille on kerrottu "suurta huijausta" siitä, että heillä ei tule olemaan eläketurvaa ja siksi tulisi aloittaa sijoittaminen. Mitä ajattelette, onko tällainen sijoittaminen ok? Miksi Suomessa halutaan nyt niin kovasti nuorison piirissä kansankapitalismia?

In the pantheon of great Van Damme action flicks from the 1980s and 90s, 'Hard Target' (1993) undoubtedly stands out as one of his best. As hunky Cajun ex-Marine, Chance Boudreaux, the mullet-wearing 'Muscles from Brussels' struts his more sensitive side while also exhibiting the sort of superhero antics that would put Schwarzenegger to shame, like firing a pistol while standing on a moving motorbike and - famously - punching a snake. He has his director to thank for one of his most iconic roles: John Woo, the 'heroic bloodshed' maestro fresh from his ballistic Hong Kong masterpiece, 'Hard Boiled' (1992), and determined to make an impact in his American directorial debut. The resulting concoction is pure Woo - a slow-motion bullet ballet of epic proportions which cemented his position as one of cinema's greatest directors of action. Joining me and 'Life of Action' author Mike Fury to discuss this milestone in movie mayhem is Christina Newland, lead film critic at the i Paper and a contributing editor to Empire Magazine. As three dedicated Jean-Claude Van Damme fans, we unpick the reasons why we think his appeal is more inclusive than that of his action contemporaries - people like Sylvester Stallone, Steven Seagal, and Chuck Norris - and the lasting legacy that John Woo has had on action cinema.
