We're back to discuss all the latest, greatest, and strangest in the rock world with Geekwire! Here's what we're chewing on this time: David Lee Roth performs Van Halen hits at the M3 Rock Festival. Reactions were mixed. We give ours. A behind-the-scenes book on This Is Spinal Tap and its sequel is set for release in September. We hope it's in Dubly. Rikki Rockett says Poison gets a strong offer for a 2026 headlining tour; but it's up to Bret Michaels. Will The Cat get Dragged In again in 2026? Wolfgang Van Halen explains why he dropped the "WVH" from Mammoth's name and we try to decipher what he's talking about. Kirk Hammett unboxes Metallica's remastered Load deluxe box set and enthusiastically celebrates it's artwork. A fan spends $12,495 to be Gene Simmons's roadie and shares the experience. Was it worth the dough? Henry Rollins discusses large-scale Punk Rock Museum project and we speculate on it's possible Nashville location. Dee Snider explains why he moved his family to rural North Carolina. Was it worth The Price? A dump truck crashes into the Whisky A Go Go ahead of a Boy Hits Car concert. We really do live in a simulation, eh? George Lynch launches a new band, George Lynch & The Mob, with a rotating lineup. Basically, Lynch Mob. Motörhead's previously unreleased 1976 album The Manticore Tapes gets a release. We share our excitement. A rumor circulates that Led Zeppelin plans a new album and 2026 tour. But, is it even true? Additionally, we touch on listener-submitted topics including Sammy Hagar (yes, again), new releases from LA Guns and Faster Pussycat, Steve Perry collaborating with Willie Nelson, Sleep Token, the live return of Savatage, an upcoming Stryper Christmas album and more. We're back to deliver on some awesome content amassed at ROCKNPOD 2025 as we present The Interviews! Throughout the day at ROCKNPOD Expo, Chris & Aaron sat down for interviews with some of the event's specials guests! Up first is comedian and host of Punchlines and Backlines, Courtney Cronin! Courtney has been around for ROCKNPOD since the very beginning and the Punchlines & Backlines show continues to grow year by year. It was a blast to sit down and catch up. Next is one of podcast world's newest duo's Beardo & Weirdo (ie. comedian Craig Gass and Five Finger Death Punch member Chris Keal). It was awesome to catch up with Craig who's been a ROCKNPOD alumni since 2018 and welcome Chris to his first expo. You may hear from a few other celebrity voices as well! Up next is Jimmy Wheeler from the TN Entertainment Commission. In this discussion, Jimmy shares how his commission is bringing film and music industry projects and jobs to the state of Tennessee. With the state's growth and continued presence in all facets of entertainment, it's interesting to see how Jimmy and his team are looking to work with creators and musicians in the local area. Next is Joel Ellis. Joel shares his thoughts on his work with Cats in Boots, Heavy Bones, and more. Additionally, he shares hat a new version of the Heavy Bones album is available and tells you how to get it! We finish things off with internet sensation Joey Breaux. Joey has grown an insanely large following on social media with his karaoke renditions of classic hits. We sit down with Joey to get more on his back story, his influences, and his thoughts on music in general. It was cool to have our paths cross at this fun, rock-filled weekend. In addition to his work with Metal Blade, Slagel hosts the podcast 100 Songs That Define Heavy Metal, produced by Pantheon Media. This week we take a look at the studio catalog of 90's band Slaughter. Formed in 1988 by ex Vinnie Vincent Invasion members Mark Slaughter and Dana Strum, the duo recruited guitarist Tim Kelly and drummer Blas Elias before getting to work on their 1990 debut album 'Stick it to Ya.' Riding high on the success of singles such as 'Up All Night' and 'Fly to the Angels,' the album sold well and secured the band a slot on KISS' 'Hot in the Shade' tour. 1992's followup album 'The Wild Life' would show solid sales but telltale signs of a tide shift in the music business. Without major label backing, Slaughter would go on to release 3 albums for independent label CMC Records; 1995's 'Fear No Evil,' 1997's 'Revoluion,' and 1999's 'Back to Reality.' Mark Slaughter would go on to record two solo albums; 2015's 'Reflections in a Rear View Mirror' and 2017's 'Halfway There' but Slaughter remains out of the studio. Will that change? Only time will tell. This week we pick our "best" and "worst" song from each Slaughter studio album. Joining us this time is Marc Alden Taylor of the Free Form Rock podcast. Check them out at https://scifimarc5150.podbean.com/ Tell us in the comments what song choices YOU would have made! We hope you enjoy The Best and Worst of Slaughter and SHARE with a friend! This is Play That Rock n' Roll's interview with former TNA Ring Announcer David Penzer about his new book, "SITTING RINGSIDE, Volume 2: The XWF, TNA and Life After Wrestling". And as an added bonus, we are joined by a special guest co-host: AAron Camaro from the Decibel Geek podcast! We discuss some of the topics Dave covered in the book, including an infamous confrontation between Rowdy Roddy Piper and Vince Russo, but most of this interview is actually about music! When Dave was here last time, he mentioned that he is a huge rock music fan and that he's seen over a thousand concerts. Since we're a music show, I figured this would be a great opportunity for Dave to share some stories and opinions on various rock and roll topics. In this conversation, Dave shares some hot takes on bands like KISS, Journey, REO Speedwagon, Styx, Chicago, and even Pablo Cruise. He also talks about his interactions with Gene Simmons and Rickey Medlocke from Lynyrd Skynyrd. Plus he tells us about some of the best concerts he's ever seen. We're back this week with our long-awaited Best of 2024 episode and there's a lot for you to wrap your ears around. In a time that many seem all-too-thrilled to declare the death of a genre, there was an increasing number of great albums and songs released last year. Plenty of new material from veteran artists was released in 2024 including albums by Judas Priest, Ace Frehley, Marilyn Manson, Saxon, and Accept among others. Lots of newer bands were forging their own path last year with new music such as DAZR, Starcrazy, Haunt and more. Other notable releases for 2024 included music from Sebastian Bach, Eclipse, The End Machine, and many more. Did any of these albums make our lists? You'll have to listen to find out. Chris and Aaron each count down their Top 10 releases from the year that was 2024. We hope you enjoy and share YOUR choices in the comments! We're back this time to present 3 rounds of the greatest music game show of them all with Beat the Geek Week! In this edition, the Geek (Chris) will take on challenges from Marc Alden Taylor (Free Form Rock Podcast) and Bob Bannister (CGCM Radio). Both of these guys bring a ton of music knowledge. Additionally, you'll get a Reverse Beat the Geek round in which Aaron will taken on Enuff Z'nuff guitarist Jason Herman!.
