Sean Combs newest rape accusation, The Liver King, broke Justin Bieber, Chris Brown arrested, Tommy Lee is single, the legend of Billy Jack, Jim's Picks: Top 10 Motown songs, and we go in search of Maz. There's a new documentary on Netflix about The Liver King. If you want a new grifter to hate, give it a watch. Justin Bieber is basically the head of a fan cult. Dude is messed up and continues to screw over Scooter Braun. He's falling apart at the seams. Mexico is mourning the death of an influencer who was murdered live on Tik Tok. Some people are saying it was a stunt and she's still alive. Beavis & Butthead learn how to take advantage of their white privilege. Public Access prank calls are sorely missed. Andy Green from Dave & Chuck has left the building. Sheila Smith was a WRIF staple back in the day. She was the glue that kept the building together and she needs some help. She's going through some tough times. Let's show her how great this audience is. Chris Brown has been arrested in the UK for an assault that occurred two years ago. Something must not be right as he never does anything wrong. Diddy has nothing on Tootsie Rolls. He's been accused of another rape and the description of his penis is less than flattering. New Bonerline action. Did Jenny die of AIDS in Forrest Gump? YES Is Haley Joel Osment Forrest's kid in the movie? YES Billy Jack Goes to Washington...And fights...With no shoes... Jim's Picks: Top 10 Motown Songs. We FINALLY get a hold of Tom Mazawey. He "lost track of time" while getting the pool ready. We have fun with the Detroit Lions schedule. The Detroit Tigers are rolling. See ya, Tom! Breaking News: Tommy Lee is allegedly single. Michael Strahan is THE WORST! He interviewed Ana de Armas and put everyone to sleep. He BARELY even brought up Tom Cruise. In this special episode of Rock is Lit, host Christy Alexander Hallberg hands the mic to teacher, podcaster, and DJ Andrew Smith, who interviews his friend Peter Werbe about Peter's debut novel, ‘Summer On Fire'. Peter also reads an excerpt from the book. Peter Werbe is a veteran of Detroit's alternative and commercial media scene, as well as a political activist. A member of the editorial collective of ‘Fifth Estate' magazine, his work appears in its online archive. His radio career spanned Detroit's major rock stations—WABX, WWWW, WRIF, and WCSX—where he hosted Nightcall, WRIF's phone-in talk show and the longest-running program of its kind in U.S. radio history (1970–2016). Peter's novel, written during the pandemic near his 80th birthday, is a fictionalized memoir about the 1967 Detroit Rebellion and its surrounding antiwar, psychedelic rock counterculture. Set in a transformative seven weeks, ‘Summer On Fire' explores the radical Detroit scene, featuring characters navigating protests, anarchism, fascist opposition, and rock and roll at the Grande Ballroom. Themes of ethical dilemmas echo today's societal crises. The book also captures the spirit of cultural icons like MC5, The Stooges, Wayne Kramer, and John Sinclair. Andrew Smith, host of Teacher On The Radio, is also a professor of English and religious studies at Tennessee Tech. This is a special Riff Fest wrap-up. Before the bands took to the stage of Pine Knob, they spoke with me. I spoke with Sully from Godsmack, Cullen of Sleep Theory, Cody and Briton of Wage War, James and Sam from Asking Alexandria, and Dale from Seether. A huge thank you to each of the bands for talking with me and taking the time to meet with WRIF listeners beforehand. One of the great things about my job is that I get to share these experiences with people who otherwise wouldn't get the chance.
It was a busy weekend, and I wanted to let you know my immediate thoughts on the latest happenings. As far as next week, it will be Wild Card baseball. Then to follow that is the upcoming NHL season on Tuesday, OCT 8!
TDC Podcast topics - A rare friday show! We welcome Drew Lane and Gregg Henson in studio...we discuss the NFL Draft in Detroit, President Biden on Howard Stern, radio days from WRIF and WDFN and so much more. Enjoy!

Metro Detroit celebrity Screamin' Scott is not only proud of his Eastside roots; he's also proud of landing his dream job as a DJ for WRIF over 20 years ago. He loves his current DJ gig at WCSX! My co-host and local musician Lou Kist talk to Scott about meeting David Grohl, Eddie Van Halen, and other iconic rock legends. We could have listened to his Rock Star encounters for hours! Scott is also the lead singer in a successful local band called CHIT. Screamin' also puts on one of the biggest Toy Drives in Michigan called Rock4Tots! I hope you enjoy this episode as much as Lou and I did!

It's Jocktober in May as we check out a show hosted by the fourth mic from Dave and Chuck the Freak and the midday girl on WRIF in Detroit. It seems like they've been forced to make a podcast by the station's management. I couldn't imagine doing a show that's this phoned in. Trucker Andy is on to discuss sandwiches in vending machines and other riveting topics. Then Bobcat from Philly calls in to tell us his experience at the live Uncle Rico show in Pottstown, Live Laugh Larceny responds to our review, and our AI review girl makes her return. I met Vic and the guys from PTV when they came through Detroit just before Thanksgiving. After talking with them after the show, I knew I wanted to get him on the podcast/videocast. We talk about him becoming a father for the first time, the U.K. touring and touring with I Prevail. We talk a lot about the upcoming album, The Jaws Of Life. Why so long between albums? Where the record was written and recorded and why. A really cool vinyl copy of the album that's coming out, hometown shows, and LOTS more. We also talked about his Living The Dream Foundation, which you can check out below. I love when guys in Vic's position think of other people and create experiences for them that they might not have had. Jason joins me on this episode of Talkin' Rock to tell me about singing for Accept and Armored Saint, all in the space of a month or so. He talks about the crazy route it took to hop on stage with Accept, which may have led to his getting called up to front A.S.. We also talk about his podcast, his current touring situation and more. I've never had a chance to talk with Ronnie, so I didn't know what to expect. What I got was a very candid guy who sticks to his beliefs no matter if you like or not. We talked about 2022, what he's working on, the singles for Zombified and Voices In My Head, the lyrical content of VIMH, and wearing his heart on his sleeve. We did talk about his online spat with former Skid Row singer, Sebastian Bach. Over the summer, it came out that Falling In Reverse cancelled some shows because their lap top was misplaced. That led to a lot of online chatter about their live performance. Ronnie was more than happy to clear up any confusion and give his side of the story. I hope you enjoy this interview as much as I did doing it. -Meltdown- https://firmerch.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
Frank Bello is up first. He talks about his solo LP - Then I'm Gone...why do a solo effort, why he didn't play the drums, and more. He tells me what people think it sounds like, and how writing and recording these tracks was similar to putting out his book. We discussed his uncle, and Anthrax drummer, Charlie Benante's role in the upcoming Pantera shows. He tells me about side project that Joey Belladonna is working on, the great voice that is John Bush...and lots more! Jeff Plate rounds out the show as the Trans Siberian Orchestra come to a town near you. We talk about rehearsals, spending time on the road away from family during the holidays, what he does the other ten months of the year, all while be distracted by something that's never happened to me in any interview I've ever done....but Jeff powers through. -Meltdown- https://www.thefrankbello.com/ https://www.trans-siberian.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
Jim Bauer was one of the voices on radio people couldn't help but tune into. Synonymous with listeners on WKNX in Saginaw, CHUM FM in Toronto and WRIF in Detroit, Bauer also was out East briefly at WHVY Massachusetts, among others. Tuning in to the trusted voice, one could hear classic rock and FM in its earliest stages. He debut songs from Alice Cooper's Welcome To My Nightmare months before the release (Dick Wagner and Bob Ezrin contribution while in Toronto), Rush, partied with Lightfoot and Dylan, interviewed Zappa, and so much more. This show is also a tribute to our departed friend, Jay Brandow who was supposed to share the show with Jim. Aircheck: http://rockradioscrapbook.ca/chumfm-bauer-72.mp3

Dan from Disturbed was kind enough to take some time to talk about the upcoming record, working with Anne Wilson, and even his thoughts on social media, and more. Dorothy was also generous, talking about her latest album, the "spirit" that went into it, hanging with Axl Rose and LOTS more. Guernica Mancini of Thundermother rounds out today's podcast. She talked about touring with the Scorpions, her influences, Swedish hockey players...sorta, and much, much more. -Meltdown- https://wrif.com/2022/09/24/disturbed-interview-with-meltdown-at-riff-fest-2022/ https://wrif.com/2022/09/24/dorothy-interview-with-meltdown-at-riff-fest-2022/ https://wrif.com/2022/09/22/meet-the-band-thundermother-meltdown/
It's never too early to think about Christmas and the Trans Siberian Orchestra! Joel Hoekstra calls in to discuss everything that's going on with the band, his projects, Whitesnake and more. Then, it's Fee Waybill from the Tubes. We talk about the history of the band, the "two eras" of the 70s and 80s, what they're doing now and a ton more! -Meltdown- https://www.trans-siberian.com/ https://thetubes.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
Tobias Forge from Ghost is up first. What draws people into a band like Ghost? Tobias does his best to answer that, as he talks about not playing Detroit in what seems like forever. He also talks about anonymity, or lack thereof. Don Jamieson is up next with a very funny conversation to plug his Terrorizing Telemarketers 7, which drops this Friday, September 16th. I love talking to Don. We talk about how put together a project like this in this day and age. We talk rock, concerts, vinyl and lots more! -Meltdown- https://ghost-official.com/ https://orcd.co/telemarketers https://www.donjamieson.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
Remember growing up listening to all the different rock and roll music radio stations? Listen to us as we share our stories about Rock stations WKNR, WABX, WRIF and of CKLW (The Motor City). And enjoy our podcast while sipping on our drink of the week the FM 109.4. Don't forget to give our show a 5 star rating as well! Rock and Roll! Baby!
It's another powerful hitting, non-award winning of Talkin' Rock. The new FFDP album drops next week, and Zoltan was nice enough to call in and talk about it. He told me why it's called Afterlife, working with Kevin Churko again, and more on the record. He told me what's it's like to have a band like Megadeth open for his band, and his thoughts on the Pantera "reunion". dUg Pinnick is next, as the new King's X album drops on September 2nd (a day before his birthday). We talk about the record and why it's been 14 years since their last album. He tells me about some of the songs, being an influence to so many Seattle bands, and how much gas is left in the tank for them. He also relives some memories of that infamous Motley Crue tour with John Corabi at the helm. -Meltdown- https://fivefingerdeathpunch.com/ https://www.kingsxrocks.com/ https://www.dugnation.net/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
In 2004 Metallica flew radio station DJ's into Chicago from all over the country. Meltdown from WRIF was there(cool guy, great radio jock), and Metallica did two shows there on the Madly In Anger With The World Tour. I interviewed James Hetfield on press row at the event about the tour, the movie 'Some Kind Of Monster', listening to Radio Disney with his daughter and more. He sounds really happy. This was broadcast on the radio in Columbus on August 28th, 2004.
Peter Steele did some of the best radio interviews ever. Some of his best were with Steve Black, now of WRIF. But on this occasion, I got the honor. It was a good day… Type O Negative played Harpos in Detroit that night and it must've been 100 degrees in there. At one point we watched the show from behind thru the back curtain. Sold out, overheated, alcohol-fueled insanity for 1800…a killer show. After the show Peter made a point talking to EVERY fan who hung around hoping to meet the band…He was gracious with everyone. The Playgirl magazine with Peter Steele had just hit the stands. Lots of girls were there to get it autographed… One of the best times I've ever had at a show, and one of the nicest guys I've ever met.

Metal legend Max Cavalera joins me today to talk about everything that's going on in his world, and there's lots. We talk about the upcoming album and some of the songs on it, including one with a recognizable title. He talks about the Soulfly box-set dropping June 17th, getting back on tour, playing with his brother and TONS more. Oh, he's also a Lions fan! Enjoy! -Meltdown- https://www.soulfly.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
Two great guitarists with legendary pasts, today on Talkin' Rock. Joe Bouchard, formally of B.O.C., talks about his new album, American Rocker. It's a throwback to the 70's in a big way. Oh, you wanted more cowbell, we give you more cowbell. He talks about the famous SNL skit and the impact it had on him. That's just for starters in this great conversation with Joe, a very fun interview. Up next, around the 31 minute mark, is Mike Keneally. Another guy I've never talked to, but found him very interesting and easy to talk with. He tells me how one joins the Frank Zappa band, the "vault" of Zappa material, and just some great conversation about Frank and Mike's own musical life. Two great listens, one sub-par podcast....enjoy! -Meltdown- https://joebouchard.com/ https://www.keneally.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
This is an odd pairing, eh? I did this on purpose to keep you guys on your toes. Blackie Lawless is up first to discuss the upcoming tour, possible new music, an autobiography and the 40th anniversary of W.A.S.P.. He told me a very funny Spinal Tap-ish story from a tour they did with Metallica, when he thought the band was at it's peak, and TONS more! Then - around the 26 minute mark - it's George Pendergast of Dishwalla. How's that for a diverse episode?! He tells me about their new E.P., single and the video. We talk about working with Alan Parsons, some shows they have coming up, and even the kid who just played drums for Pearl jam. He has a connection to him as well. Enjoy! -Meltdown- https://www.waspnation.com/ https://dishwalla.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/

Just an honor to speak with Triumph's Gil Moore, today, on Talkin' Rock. Their new documentary "Rock & Roll Machine" starts streaming this Friday. It's a must for any Triumph fan, but it's also a great watch for any music lover. Gil tells me about the process of making it, all the stuff he's collected over the years from Triumph's past tours, playing for the super fans and reflecting on his life in the band. We talk about their exclusion for the Rock Hall (no surprise there) having success in Canada and the states, The Tragically Hip, and much, much more. Enjoy! -Meltdown- https://www.triumphmusic.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
As the new Ted Nugent album, Detroit Muscle, is unleashed on society, I wrangled Ted and his drummer Jason Hartless to talk about it. I feel like Ted is finally starting to come out of his shell. (LOL) We talk about the record and the feeling of releasing new music. He tells me about his gig this weekend with a very special guest. We talk about the guitars he brings with him on tour, famed Detroit guitar legend, Jimmy McCarty, cover songs, visiting the White House and lots more. Drummer Jason Hartless is up next, around the 18:00 mark. Of course we talk about the album and the making of it. How does he deliver what feels right for Ted? What's it like playing and touring with such a legend? I even snuck in some questions for former NHLer, Drew Miller, who's a mutual friend of both of ours. That's just for starters....enjoy! -Meltdown- https://www.tednugent.com/ http://www.jasonhartless.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063571627797
I mean, how cool is Lzzy Hale? The coolest! On today's episode of Talkin' Rock, she tells me what she got her brother for his birthday, about the European tour, how the fans are picking the setlists for the upcoming tour and her returning to TV. Plus, the graphic novel Hyde Manor - which sounds a little Studio 666 to me :) - her thoughts on Taylor Hawkins and a hysterical story from a question Shinedown's Brent Smith gave me. Enjoy! -Meltdown- https://www.halestormrocks.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
This is just a fun, cool episode....oh, and very Canadian! Chris Jericho is a legend in and out of the wrestling ring, and a good dude. Fozzy kicks off their tour in Detroit, so Y2J was nice enough to come by the studio and talk about rock, the tour, the upcoming Fozzy album and life getting back to normal. We talk about the use of backing tracks in the live setting and how he's managed to drive down so many lanes of the entertainment business. Plus, a bonus question about wearing a sleeping mask, as did Chris L. from the Pod Of Thunder podcast. Andy Curran is up next - around the 25 minute mark. Of course we talk about hockey, and his team the Blackhawks. Then we get into the Envy of None band. He talks about how it was formed, the album, and the vision Alex Lifeson had for the project. He talks about the last few years of Neil Peart's life and some great Taylor Hawkins stories of playing with the guys. That's just for starters.... This interview is so much fun! Joe was awesome.... He tells me about the Eagles current tour and the massive production that goes with it. He answers what it's like to play with Vince Gill and about his eBay addiction, which is funny. We talk about the use of In The City in the movie Warriors. I ask him his thoughts of Dolly Parton withdrawing her name for Rock Hall consideration, to which he has a hysterical response. Plus, best advice he's received from another guitarist, and a little talk about Glenn Frye. Enjoy! -Meltdown- https://www.joewalsh.com/ https://wrif.com/podcasts/talkin-rock-with-meltdown/
