Gemeinsam mit Gitarrist und Produzent Axel Ritt sowie Marcus Görner vom Metal Marcus Metal Podcast geraten Markus und Lars stattdessen mitten hinein in die große Identitätskrise des modernen Metal:Was bedeutet eigentlich „authentisch“ – ehrlich zu sein oder lediglich genau so zu klingen, wie andere es bereits kennen?Von Manowars grauenhaftem True-Metal-Pathos über Ghost, Sleep Token und Electric Callboy bis zu Black Metal mit Banjo geht es um die Frage, wer heute noch festlegen darf, was Metal ist. Wenn Tausende Gitarristen dasselbe Plugin und dieselbe Signalkette verwenden, wie viel Persönlichkeit bleibt dann noch im Ton? A lo largo de la transmisión, la plática rememora los inicios de Mexapedia como una enciclopedia que nació con el respaldo de Aztec Metal y que ha ido evolucionando constantemente. La conversación escala rápidamente a un debate sin filtros sobre el estado actual del metal en México, cuestionando si realmente existe una escena o una industria organizada. La conclusión del panel es contundente: para exigir una retribución, las agrupaciones deben comportarse como verdaderos profesionales, contar con herramientas básicas como un presskit y comprometerse activamente con la promoción de su propio material. Para hacer frente a estas dificultades operativas del metal nacional, Ángel presenta la evolución de Mexapedia mediante un ecosistema de herramientas tecnológicas gratuitas diseñadas para facilitar el trabajo de las bandas. Entre ellas destaca Mexatickets, un sistema de boletera digital donde todo el dinero de las entradas llega de manera directa a la cuenta de transferencia de las bandas, cobrando una comisión mínima de solo diez pesos por boleto destinada únicamente al mantenimiento de la plataforma. Asimismo, se presenta la Mexatienda, una tienda en línea completamente libre de comisiones que permite a las agrupaciones vender su mercancía oficial y conservar el cien por ciento de sus ganancias. Interview by Angela CroudaceGerman power metal veterans StormHammer are embracing a heavier, more aggressive direction on their upcoming album Wrath of the Hammer, due for release on July 17, while still staying true to their melodic foundations.Bassist Horst Tessmann revealed the album marks a deliberate shift back towards the sound of Welcome to the End after the more melodic approach of Seven Seals. Following years of lineup changes and delays, he said the band is finally where they want to be creatively."The title track represents the new album and the style of the band quite well," Horst explained, describing it as the perfect introduction to StormHammer's evolved sound.Rather than drawing from any single influence, Horst credited guitarists Phil and Christos for naturally blending classic heavy metal, thrash, progressive and punk elements into the songwriting. “I wonder if we'll get a cease and desist on this episode…”   Generally speaking, whenever someone says “Slayer” or “Metallica”, you think of two veteran thrash bands which both formed in 1981 and both released their debut albums in 1983. This is common knowledge among most fans of both of these bands.    Ironically, there's another band who follows this exact same timeline of forming in 1981 and releasing their debut album in 1983, yet at the time, they were NOT at all thrashy…not even close.    Most of us know of PANTERA as the brutally heavy, groove metal masters from Arlington, Texas who lit a proverbial fire under the ass of the thrash and heavy music scene in 1990 with their “major label” debut album (with the emphasis, in this case, on the words “major label”) as CFH was actually their FIFTH studio album.    Fifth? Wait a minute…what about THE FIRST FOUR studio albums!? And why are those albums not talked about and celebrated just like all things PANTERA!?    Well, there's a reason that THE FIRST FOUR aren't really talked about or acknowledged. Actually, there are probably a multitude of reasons, but the most glaring one is the stylistic difference between their early glam and power metal days and the heavier, grittier era when they truly became the “Cowboys From Hell”.    Remember those awkward Olan Mills pictures you used to take with the family, or better yet, the pictures of you in high school with that absurd, dorky hairstyle that people always like to bring up in conversation? That's kinda what THE FIRST FOUR ALBUMS by PANTERA were like.   Always remember that “Dokken is better than KISS” and you absolutely have to “pill up before PT”.
