Interview by Angela CroudaceGerman power metal veterans StormHammer are embracing a heavier, more aggressive direction on their upcoming album Wrath of the Hammer, due for release on July 17, while still staying true to their melodic foundations.Bassist Horst Tessmann revealed the album marks a deliberate shift back towards the sound of Welcome to the End after the more melodic approach of Seven Seals. Following years of lineup changes and delays, he said the band is finally where they want to be creatively."The title track represents the new album and the style of the band quite well," Horst explained, describing it as the perfect introduction to StormHammer's evolved sound.Rather than drawing from any single influence, Horst credited guitarists Phil and Christos for naturally blending classic heavy metal, thrash, progressive and punk elements into the songwriting. He also praised producer Alexander Krull, whose experience as a vocalist helped push singer Manuel into delivering more emotionally charged performances.Although Australian fans may have to wait for a live appearance due to touring costs, Horst said StormHammer hopes strong support for Wrath of the Hammer could eventually make it happen, but the band are already looking ahead, with work on their next album underway and a planned release targeted for autumn 2027.Check out the full interview for more.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

Interview by Ali WilliamsVINDICTA are heading Down Under this month and are starting a new era by becoming louder, angrier and significantly harder to ignore. Freshly formed by vocalist Grace Pasturini, formally of Dutch band Dogma, Pasturini and other former members are diving headfirst into ensuring VINDICTA hits in all the right spots, following the chaotic demise of their previous band. Chatting with HEAVY's Ali Williams, Grace assures that the band's next chapter is not a polite little adjustment or a cautious shuffle into slightly different shoes. It is a full creative shift, backed by new music, a concept album in progress, a fresh music video, a run of singles and, most importantly for Australian fans, the band's first ever trip to this side of the world. Grace made it clear that VINDICTA are moving into a sharper, more aggressive space. Their previous sound carried more melody and power metal brightness, but the new material has a nastier pulse to it. Not in a forced “look how dangerous we are” way either. More in the sense that this time they aren't going to be singing pretty ot dressing the truth up to look cute. “We're pulling a little bit away from our older sound,” she explains. “It's a bit more aggressive; it's more honest.” That honesty seems to suit her voice as much as the band's direction. While plenty of vocalists treat aggression like something they have to wrestle into place, Pasturini says this heavier delivery actually comes more naturally. The rawer edge is not just better for the songs; it is gentler on her voice. Some singers are out here fighting for their lives, trying to sound melodic, and Grace is finding relief in going harder.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/heavy-music-interviews--2687660/support.

This week we're talking about that guy again… The 2nd episode focused on EDGUY in another edition of our “Grave Mistakes: They Shoulda Been Huge!!!”. A German power metal band that Kevin affectionately calls “Helloween Jr.”. This episode starts at the peak of their provocative power metal prowess and ends with their evolution to a hard-rocking power glam powerhouse. They did well in Europe and other parts of the world, but we think they Shoulda Been Huge in the States! This episode is rooted in our Should Have Been category. A German band that followed in the footsteps of Helloween, flying the flag of “Power Metal” from the late 90s to 2014. Unfortunately, they were never really recognized to the degree they deserve outside of Europe. We think they SHOULDA BEEEN HUGE… and we are ready to fly that banner proudly! Songs this week include: Edguy - “Mysteria” from Hellfire Club (2004) Edguy - “Superheroes” from Superheroes – EP (2005) Edguy - “Rocket Ride” from Rocket Ride (2006) Edguy - “Nine Lives” from Tinnitus Sanctus (2008) Edguy - “Lavatory Love Machine (Live)” from Fucking With Fire (Live In Sao Paolo 2006) (2009) Edguy - “Pandora's Box” from Age Of The Joker (2011) Edguy - “Love Tyger” from Space Police – Defenders Of The Crown (2014) Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!:InObscuria Store Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/ https://www.facebook.com/InObscuria https://twitter.com/inobscuria https://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/ Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/ If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/ If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/
In episode 257 of Heavy Metal Philosophy, Jon Barbas compares the things that make each sub-genre of metal cheesy and cringe. All of us have a genre of metal we look at as silly, but do we overlook the excesses of our own favorite styles? We talk to Seattle's mighty Greyhawk about their upcoming record " Warriors Of Greyhawk".
This week, we're talking about a guy? What guy? EDGUY of course! Another edition of our “Grave Mistakes: They Shoulda Been Huge!!!” from a band we covered on our last power metal episode late last year. A band that Kevin affectionately calls “Helloween Jr.”, this is another German powerhouse power metal juggernaut that is unique to the genre. They are epic and powerful! A band that is anthemic, dramatic, uplifting, and rallying, with a sense of humor as well! This episode is rooted in our Should Have Been category. A German band that followed in the footsteps of Helloween, flying the flag of “Power Metal” from the late 90s to 2014. Unfortunately, they were never really recognized to the degree they deserve outside of Europe. We think they SHOULD BE HUGE… and we are ready to fly that banner proudly!Songs this week include:Edguy - “Heart Of Twilight” from Kingdom Of Madness (1997)Edguy - “Vain Glory Opera” from Vain Glory Opera (1998)Edguy - “Falling Down” from Theatre Of Salvation (1999)Edguy - “Power & Majesty” from The Savage Poetry (2000)Edguy - “Tears Of A Mandrake” from Mandrake (2001)Edguy - “Fallen Angels (Live)” from Burning Down The Opera (2003)Edguy - “Holy Water” from King Of Fools - EP (2004)Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!:InObscuria StoreVisit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/ Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

“I wonder if we'll get a cease and desist on this episode…” Generally speaking, whenever someone says “Slayer” or “Metallica”, you think of two veteran thrash bands which both formed in 1981 and both released their debut albums in 1983. This is common knowledge among most fans of both of these bands. Ironically, there's another band who follows this exact same timeline of forming in 1981 and releasing their debut album in 1983, yet at the time, they were NOT at all thrashy…not even close. Most of us know of PANTERA as the brutally heavy, groove metal masters from Arlington, Texas who lit a proverbial fire under the ass of the thrash and heavy music scene in 1990 with their “major label” debut album (with the emphasis, in this case, on the words “major label”) as CFH was actually their FIFTH studio album. Fifth? Wait a minute…what about THE FIRST FOUR studio albums!? And why are those albums not talked about and celebrated just like all things PANTERA!? Well, there's a reason that THE FIRST FOUR aren't really talked about or acknowledged. Actually, there are probably a multitude of reasons, but the most glaring one is the stylistic difference between their early glam and power metal days and the heavier, grittier era when they truly became the “Cowboys From Hell”. Remember those awkward Olan Mills pictures you used to take with the family, or better yet, the pictures of you in high school with that absurd, dorky hairstyle that people always like to bring up in conversation? That's kinda what THE FIRST FOUR ALBUMS by PANTERA were like. Always remember that “Dokken is better than KISS” and you absolutely have to “pill up before PT”. Find out why “concubine” is a much cooler term than girlfriend, why the stress of having multiple families can be fatal, and realize that most doctors' definition of “prescription pain medication” is painfully incorrect and a complete waste of a prescription pad. Get ready to find out which Pantera album came out on Rex's 20th birthday, which song features Dime on lead vocals, and understand that while we absolutely did not plan for this to be episode 333, it just so happened to turn out that way. Brace yourselves and get your relaxers ready before you JOIN US as we go back to the 80's to get a better idea of why one of the greatest metal bands of all time tried to bury their earliest work (and original “not as metal” logo) with THE FIRST FOUR from the mighty PANTERA. Jack and Erin read horror stories from a NYC dog walker with some very wealthy clients. Then they take yet another bespoke quiz, but this time they must decide if the passage is a bible verse or a power metal lyric! What is "power metal" as opposed to the other metals? Who can say? Finally, they close the show with a riddling horoscope that will leave you (and them) puzzled. Happy December!! Interview with Sean Wade, CEO of Power Metal Resources PLC & Marcel Nally, Founder of MinestartersOur previous interview: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/posts/power-metal-resources-aimpow-advancing-a-pipeline-of-high-potential-exploration-projects-6311Recording date: 15th October 2025Power Metal Resources is investing £3 million to become the cornerstone investor in Minestarters, a blockchain-based platform designed to address critical funding shortages in early-stage mining exploration. The AIM-listed mining exploration incubator will acquire 49% of Minestarters, gaining access to significantly larger capital pools through tokenisation while maintaining visibility of investment value through tradable digital assets.CEO Sean Wade describes the funding environment for early-stage mining over the past two to three years as "a desert" where even "fantastic prospects" that "would have flown off the shelves during COVID" have struggled to raise adequate capital. This capital scarcity prevents companies from investing sufficient sums to properly develop resources, with projects requiring significant drilling programs finding markets closed or capital available only at prohibitive costs.Minestarters addresses this gap by issuing 120 million tokens backed by real-world mining assets. The platform will deploy 70 million tokens to the public in tranches, with the first 20 million released at $0.10 per token. All proceeds flow into a treasury used exclusively to fund selected mineral exploration projects through a rigorous investment committee that expects to reject 90-95% of applicants.A key innovation involves smart contracts that automate milestone-based funding, releasing capital only as projects achieve predetermined objectives. This approach reduces capital leakage and human error compared to traditional mining finance, where project managers might request additional funds mid-programme without clear accountability frameworks.Wade emphasises the partnership creates immediately visible value contrasting with conventional exploration investments: "I could tomorrow spend £3 million on an asset in Canada. Nothing's going on my balance sheet that's visible to a shareholder for three years plus." The tradable tokens provide 24/7 price transparency, enabling investors to track Power Metal's Minestarters holdings in real-time while the company leverages its proven IPO expertise to provide exit pathways for funded projects.View Power Metal Resources' company profile: https://www.cruxinvestor.com/companies/power-metal-resourcesSign up for Crux Investor: https://cruxinvestor.com
In the grand theater of heavy metal, moments arise when the tectonic plates of the genre shift, heralding the arrival of something monumental. This is one of those moments. This week, two of the most formidable forces in modern metal, Sweden's power metal titans Sabaton and Finland's melodic death metal masters Omnium Gatherum, are launching major campaigns with the announcement of highly anticipated new albums. These are not mere record releases; they are strategic deployments of sonic force, meticulously crafted to conquer new territory and fortify their legacies. At the helm of these campaigns are two of the genre's most respected commanders: Sabaton frontman Joakim Brodén and Omnium Gatherum's founding guitarist Markus Vanhala. This week's edition of The Loaded Radio Podcast brings these two masterminds together for an exclusive deep-dive conversation, a rare summit where the architects of war anthems and melancholic requiems share their strategies, their philosophies, and the stories behind their new masterworks.
