Rowan RobertsonAt age 17, guitarist Rowan Robertson was hired by Ronnie James Dio to record the “Lock Up the Wolves” album and tour the world. His first gig was opening for Metallica, but his grand entrance was straight out of “Spinal Tap!” He joins us to discuss his time with Dio, his subsequent bands Violet's Demise (featuring singer Oni Logan), DC4 and Bang Tango. We also learn the importance of his father's and friends' unwavering belief, his current gig in the all-star Vegas production, Raiding the Rock Vault, and why Jimmy Bain endearingly called him “Mr. Vomit.”Created and Produced by Jared Tuten

Jeff Duncan Best-known for his guitar playing with heavy metal heroes, Armored Saint, Jeff Duncan previously played in the popular 1980s Hollywood band Odin (who is memorably immortalized in the “Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years”). A child of the Sunset Strip, Duncan saw Poison, Ratt, Motley Crue and WASP play to near-empty rooms before they found fame. Today, he continues working with Armored Saint, DC4 and releasing instrumental albums under his own name. Created and Produced by Jared Tuten
The sound of gunfire from Operation Protea and the SADF were already planning their next invasion of Angola. The intelligence gathered during Protea was going to lead to the second 1981 op, which was launched in November 1981 targeting Ionde initially, 120km inside Angola, then onwards to Bambi and Chetequera, much deeper inside Angola. But first, the air Force was going to get busy. The aircraft used were extensive, 15 Impalas, 9 Pumas, 2 Super Frelons and 10 Alouettes for Army support, 4 DC3 Dakotas, six C-130s and C160s and 1 DC4 as air transport and supply and 9 Bosboks for navigation and reconnaissance support. Two Mirage IIIs would also be deployed for photo-recon missions, 20 Mirage F1s for Air superiority and 3 Buccanners as backup if enemy airfields needed to be bombed. The Mirages were going to face MiGs for the first time in direct air to air combat and as you're going to hear, things didn't end well for one MiG in particular. Colonel Ollie Holmes was commanding officer of the air force contingent at Oshakati and the idea was to setup a forward HQ position at Ionde Airfield once it had been secured. 32 Battalion was sent in to protect the tactical headquarters and to patrol the supply routes for the main mechanized force, while Recce teams led by The Assault force would be headed up by 61 Mechanised Battalion and include elements from 201, 1 Parachute Battalion and 5 Reconnaisance Regiment. But there was one incident that rippled across the region which took place on November 6th and this involved a Mirage and a MiG. After years of warfare, finally the Angolan Air Force decided it was going to become aggressive. This would lead to the first downing of an enemy plane by the SAAF since the Korean War.

Tony Palmucci se unió a Baton Rouge en 1991 y lanzó el álbum Lights Out on The Playground.

Safety should be at the forefront of our minds at all times, and our guests talk about how this principle is not just something that “looks good on paper,” but working safely is a choice that our employees make every day. Employees are empowered to stop an unsafe process, and production is never a priority above the health and safety of our team members. In fact safety and productivity go hand in hand. Introduction: Early initiation of appropriate antimicrobial treatment is a cornerstone in managing pneumonia. Because microbiologic processing may not be available around the clock, optimal storage of specimens is essential for accurate microbiologic identification of pathogenetic bacteria. The aim of our study was to determine the accuracy of two commonly used storage approaches for delayed processing of bronchoalveolar lavage in critically ill patients with suspected pneumonia. Methods: This study included 132 patients with clinically suspected pneumonia at two medical intensive care units of a tertiary care hospital. Bronchoalveolar lavage samples were obtained and divided into three aliquots: one was used for immediate culture, and two, for delayed culture (DC) after storage for 24 hours at 4 degrees C (DC4) and -80 degrees C (DC-80), respectively. Results: Of 259 bronchoalveolar lavage samples, 84 (32.4%) were positive after immediate culture with 115 relevant culture counts (>= 10(4) colony-forming units/ml). Reduced (
When we did our Library of Loud episode in September, our special guest that week was Tales from the Stage author Michael Toney. During that conversation, Michael mentioned that he had recently started managing guitarist Jeff Duncan. Immediately, gears started turning in our heads to get the Odin/Armored Saint/DC4 guitarist on the show. Thanks to the generosity of Mr. Toney, we're able to bring you our conversation with Mr. Duncan this week. Jeff Duncan started playing guitar at the young age of 10 after being inspired by his professional musician-father. In this discussion, Jeff shares how he was exposed to a variety of music through his father; from 1950's do-wop to 60's-era singer/songwriter styles such as Cat Stevens. But, it was Jeff's discovery of Black Sabbath that put him the path to hard rock and heavy metal that he would embark upon. With the formation of Odin in the early 1980's, Jeff Duncan quickly became a staple of the burgeoning Sunset Strip rock music scene. After a number of years of paying dues in small clubs, Odin had gathered enough of a following to attract the interest of Hollywood mainstay and "godfather" of rock and roll, club owner Bill Gazzarri. Gazzarri gave Odin prime exposure on the main stage of the venue bearing his name; exposure that culminated in the band's appearance in the Penelope Spheeris-directed documentary The Decline of Western Civilization Part II: The Metal Years. Jeff Duncan shares his memories of the band's rise on the Sunset Strip and describes the experience of being in the film. Odin Also in this discussion are Jeff's recollections of a difficult period of transition; one in which he witnessed the breakup of Odin, was involved in the short-lived Lostboys, and his recruitment into metal legends Armored Saint. All of this change took place in the brief period of 2 years. Jeff Duncan's blistering guitar work on Armored Saint's 1991 release Symbol of Salvation was a strong addition to a band in the midst of tragedy, with original guitarist Dave Pritchard passing away of leukemia just before recording. In this conversation, Jeff explains the emotions that he, and the rest of Armored Saint, were going through as well as reflecting on his friendship with Pritchard. Armored Saint Anyone with even a cursory knowledge of Armored Saint knows about lead singer John Bush's departure in 1992 to take over vocal duties in Anthrax. This departure led to the disbanding of Armored Saint until 1999 when the band reunited to record the 2000 Revelation release. Jeff Duncan shares with us what it was like disbanding Armored Saint on the heels of such a successful album and the status of his friendship with Bush through all of this transition. During the hiatus from Armored Saint, Duncan started DC4 with brothers Matt & Shawn and guitarist Rowan Robertson. Releasing albums Mood Swings and Volume 1 in 1995 & 1998 respectively; DC4 has methodically built a rabid fan base and has since released 2009's Explode and 2011's Electric Ministry. Featuring a gritty hard rock and metal sound; DC4's brotherly chemistry shines through and in this conversation Duncan shares what it's like working in a band with family and how his new turn as a lead vocalist took shape. We close out the show with a track off of the aforementioned Electric Ministry album from DC4. To check out more DC4 and keep up with Jeff, go to www.dc4rocks.com Buy Music!
