Hi, I'm John Sorensen, President of Evangelism Explosion International, and you're listening to Share Life Today. During the very first Easter Week, Jesus celebrated the Last Supper with his disciples the night before He was crucified. On this Passover night, He sat with His disciples and gave them a clear picture of what He was about to do through their last meal together. He “took bread, and gave thanks and broke it, and gave it to [His disciples], saying, ‘This is my body given for you; do this in remembrance of me.' In the same way, after the supper he took the cup, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant of my blood, which is poured out for you.'” We take communion as Christians in remembrance of what Jesus has done through His death and resurrection. The bread represents His body broken, and the wine depicts His blood spilled for the forgiveness of sins. He did it out of love for us! And all we must do to receive forgiveness is to place our trust in Jesus alone. Learn how to share this Good News with others at our website: sharelife.today.

This season can be and should be a fun and exciting time for our students and family. Embodied Faith: on Relational Neuroscience, Spiritual Formation, and Faith
This Holy Week, as Jesus, "the man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief" (Is. 53:3), walks toward the cross, we ask what it might be to proclaim this as good news. An older evangelism might ask, Where will you go when you die? But in our age of anxiety and despair, maybe we need to shift to: What do you do with your sorrow as you live? That Jesus walks with us in our sorrows is really good news. That's what we are talking about today with Dr. Andrew Root. He is the Carrie Olson Baalson professor of youth and family ministry at Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minnesota. He writes and researches in areas of theology, ministry, culture and younger generations. And most recently has written about Evangelism in an Age of Despair: Hope Beyond the Failed Promise of Happiness.Join Attaching to God Learning Cohort: Quieting an Anxious and Avoidant Faith.Starting April 29 (2025), with the live calls on Tuesdays, 4pm (EST). Holy Week is more than a season on the calendar—it's a proclamation of our faith. As Christian families, the way we remember, reflect, and celebrate the events leading to Jesus' resurrection shapes our understanding of the Gospel and deepens our walk with Him. In this special Easter Week episode, co-hosts Rachael and Natalie explore the significance of Holy Week traditions and how they serve as a bold declaration of faith. From Good Friday reflections to Easter morning celebrations, they discuss ways to anchor family traditions in the truth of the resurrection. Drawing from Scripture, they highlight how our girls—just like the women at the empty tomb—are called to be proclaimers of the Good News, courageously sharing Christ's victory over sin and death. Through Biblical encouragement, practical ideas, and insights from American Heritage Girls Founder & Executive Director, Patti Garibay, this conversation will inspire you to embrace Holy Week as an opportunity to strengthen your family's faith. Whether your celebrations include a Passover meal, sunrise worship, or simple moments of gratitude, let this season be a testament to the hope we have in Jesus. Tune in and be encouraged to make this Holy Week a time of deep remembrance, joyful celebration, and bold proclamation of Christ's love and redemption. 9:24 Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city, to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy. 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined. 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate, even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.

Send us a textGUEST: TRAVIS ALLEN, pastor, Grace Church Greeley, COThere are lots of things that draw our time and thoughts away from the most important Person and event in history—Jesus Christ and His death and resurrection which took place nearly 2000 years ago in Jerusalem.Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came from heaven, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life with the whole purpose of offering Himself on the cross to pay the death penalty for man's sins against His Father. Why would He do this? Here's why: “God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).Consider Jesus in the days leading to His death on the cross. He knew when, where, and how He was going to suffer and die. Above all, He knew that His own Father would be pouring out His just wrath and justice on Him, the innocent One, for all the sins of all who would believe. The gospel of Luke describes Jesus' state on the night of His arrest as He was in the Garden of Gethsemane: “being in agony He was praying very fervently; and His sweat became like drops of blood, falling down upon the ground” (Luke 22:44).Agony, praying fervently, sweating blood. What? Didn't Jesus just run through this unruffled like some superhero? No He didn't. His agony and His actions before His atoning death teach us a great deal about who He is and who believers are called to be.Our guest this weekend is Travis Allen. Travis served our country in the US Navy as a member of the SEAL teams and is now the pastor of Grace Church in Greeley, CO. Travis gave a recent sermon series on “The Agony in the Garden,” explaining the deep suffering of Christ in the hours before He would bear His Father's wrath for our sin on the cross. We hope this program leading into Easter week, along with the April issue of The Christian Worldview Journal, which is scheduled to arrive this week, will help our hearts and minds more deeply appreciate and worship Christ for who He is—the Son of God and only Savior of mankind.-------------------------------RELATED SERMONS:The Agony in the Garden, Part 1The Agony in the Garden, Part 2Lessons from the GardenThe Arrest of JesusGRACE CHURCH GREELEY, CO PODCASTPillar of Truth

Today is day 358 and we are studying the Section on Justification and Sanctification: Living in Forgiveness and Healing. 359. What do you receive through Christ's sacrifice? I receive the unmerited gift of God's grace. If I confess my sins, God grants me forgiveness and pardon through Christ's blood shed for me. (Psalm 32:1–2; Isaiah 53:10–11; John 3:16–18; 2 Corinthians 5:19–21; Hebrews 9:11–15; 1 John 1:8–9; 2:1–2) 360. How does God enable you to live in his forgiveness? Through faith, repentance, and Baptism, I am made a member of Christ, a child of God, and an heir of the kingdom of heaven. Washed of sin and united to Christ, I am “justified,” being declared righteous by God, and I am given the grace to live continually in repentance and faith. (Psalm 130:4; John 15:26–16:1; Acts 22:16; Romans 5:12–21; Titus 3:3–8) Our prayers today are the Collect for Friday of Easter Week found on page 611 and Proper 21 on page 620of the Book of Common Prayer (2019).
