Artist Eric Dyer spent years working at a computer to produce images for the screen. Longing to get his hands back on his work, he began exploring the zoetrope, a popular 19th-century device that was used to create the illusion of motion long before the arrival of film. In this vibrant talk, he showcases his resulting art inventions: spinning sculptures and that evoke beautiful, dreamlike scenes. (Warning: This talk includes flashing images and lights. Those who are photosensitive or have seizures trigged by strobes are advised to avoid.)

Der Künstler Eric Dyer verbrachte Jahre damit, an einem Computer Bilder für den Bildschirm zu produzieren. En esta charla vibrante presenta las invenciones artísticas que resultaron de ello: esculturas giratorias que evocan hermosas escenas oníricas. Nature Theater of Oklahoma talks to Eric Dyer of the Brooklyn-based performance group Radiohole about play and playfulness, artist and ensemble. How far out, to the extreme edge of failure, are we willing to push ourselves and our work in order to try and stay “wild”? Does our willingness to embrace failure and be more courageous hinge in part on our ability to trick ourselves into crafting a more playful relationship to the audience, curators, and funders that we hope will eventually embrace that work?
