John 10:22-39. During the feast of Hanukkah (meaning dedication), also know as the Festival of Lights, Jesus, who tabernacled with us, revealed that He had been dedicated by the father, like Solomon or Judas Maccabaeus had dedicated the temple. Now we are the temple of God’s spirit and may we live with our lives, body […]
Feast of Dedication day 3
Web Description: Hanukkah is all about the Temple of God—what had happened to defile it and what they did to cleanse it and rededicate it. We too are a temple of God. We are to be a holy place in which God can dwell. But He cannot dwell within us if we are filled with defilement. Let us do today what Hanukkah celebrates. Let us enter into the promises that God will purify us and dwell in us. Then let us rededicate ourselves to walk with Him. Show Notes: Christians need a greater understanding of Hanukkah. It occurs around Christmas time, but it existed as a celebration long before Christians conceived of Christmas. Hanukkah is the Feast of Dedication. And it remembers the time the Temple was rededicated to God after it had been defiled by Antiochus IV Epiphanes during the Seleucid dynasty. We as Christians should regard this time of rededication to the pure worship of God as something very applicable us. The people at the time of Antiochus IV rose up and fought against the defilement, and they removed it from their midst. What was at stake was the very presence of God in the place where He chose to dwell—the Temple. We must take it just as seriously today. We must fight against everything that is coming into our lives to defile us because the issue is still the same: Will God have a place to dwell in the earth? We are to be His dwelling place. We are to be His temple. And He cannot dwell in us if our temple is defiled. This Hanukkah should be a tremendous time for all of us. It was a lot of work to remove all the objects of defilement, clean and prepare the Temple, and rededicate it to the worship of God. And it may take a lot of work to do that in our own lives. But Hanukkah means that it can happen. We can separate ourselves from the defilement of this age. We can repent and He will cleanse us. We can be that place for Him to dwell. Key Verses: Read 1 Maccabees 4:36–59. John 10:22–24. “The Feast of the Dedication took place at Jerusalem; … and Jesus was walking in the temple.” 2 Corinthians 7:1. “Let us cleanse ourselves from all defilement of flesh and spirit.” John 2:14–16. “He made a scourge of cords, and drove them all out.” 2 Corinthians 5:17. “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature.” 1 Corinthians 6:19–20. “Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit.” 1 John 1:9. “He is faithful and righteous to … cleanse us.” 2 Corinthians 6:14–18. “We are the temple of the living God.” Ephesians 2:18–22. “You also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit.” Quotes: “As we enter into Hanukkah ourselves and find the importance in our own lives about it, we realize we begin with an energy, with a drive in our heart that says, ‘We must remove all defilement.'” “He is holy, and He must dwell within holiness. We cannot tolerate the defilement and the uncleanness. We must remove all defilement and dedicate ourselves to being the dwelling place of God on this earth.” “We must be dedicated to the fact that He must have a holy temple called the Body of Christ in whom He will dwell, having built us up together into that dwelling place of God in the Spirit.” Takeaways: 1. Just as the Temple had been defiled in the days of the Maccabees, today there are many people who have been defiled so that they no longer qualify as a place in which God can dwell. 2. Just as the altar and the instruments of worship had to be remade and rededicated, so this is a time for us to remake our lives in God. It is time for us to begin again and rededicate ourselves to the Lord. 3. We must put the energy into tearing down and removing that which is defiled. We must be cleansed of the defilement within ourselves, and we must rededicate our lives in service to the Lord so that we might be that place in which He will dwell.

Jesus goes to Jerusalem to celebrate Hanukkah. In this nationalistic setting, the Jews inquire if Jesus is the Messiah. Unfortunately, they cannot see it despite the miracles, the Hanukkah prayer for miracles, and the simplicity of Jesus' teaching "my sheep hear my voice."Matthew 10:22-39Luke 19:41-44www.messagetokings.com

Web Description: Like every year, we can celebrate Hanukkah with joy and light the candles for eight days. But this year on Israel's 75th anniversary, let us see the restoration of the light that Israel is to be to the world. As believers in Christ, we rally around Israel for all that she needs and all that she is to be. We add our strength, our faith, our finances, and all that we can to be a blessing to Israel and to the Jewish people during this time of rededicating our lives to God. Show Notes: Hanukkah, or the Feast of Dedication, commemorates the time when the Temple and the vessels of the Temple worship were cleansed, sanctified, and rededicated to the worship of the Lord after they had been defiled. The Jews retook the Temple in the Maccabean Revolt, but they had to rebuild and consecrate the sacred things in order to restore the worship and the relationship to God that had been destroyed by those who had overtaken the land. Hanukkah therefore celebrates the rededicating of our lives to God in our service to Him as vessels fit for the Master's use. This feast has special significance for 2023 because this year Israel is celebrating its 75th anniversary. We cannot emphasize enough the importance of Israel's existence as a state. Number one, it is the fulfillment of God's covenant with His people. But also, as we have seen in recent events, without a Jewish state that houses and protects them, the Jewish people once again face the threat against their very lives. That is why the rededication expressed in Hanukkah is so important for them this year. After 75 years they are seeing much of the values that built the State of Israel being eroded. Israel was built on the dedication of its people who had only one focus, and that was to form the Jewish state where the Jewish people could survive the obvious determination of the world to see their destruction. But in Israel today, just as in America, we are seeing people forgetting the lessons of history and tearing down the very principles that framed the nation in the first place. Let us believe for a rededication to the sacred values built upon the Word of God that are at the root of Israel and of our connection to them as Christians. Key Verses: • John 10:22–24. “The Feast of the Dedication took place at Jerusalem; … and Jesus was walking in the temple.” • 2 Timothy 2:21. “If anyone cleanses himself from these things, he will be a vessel for honor, sanctified, useful to the Master.” Quotes: • “I believe that we are seeing something interesting happening; and that is that after the passage of a great amount of time, you lose the significance of that which is sacred, that which is holy.” • “There needs to be a reeducation of the youth of Israel, the youth of America, and the youth of all nations into the Judeo-Christian values that have been the core, that have established these great nations before God.” • “We need to rededicate, number one, our own hearts to God. We need to rebuild the sacred things within our own hearts and spirits. We need to regenerate the love in our hearts for one another.” Takeaways: 1. When the Jews took the Temple in the Maccabean Revolt, they rebuilt the altar; they rebuilt the menorah; they rebuilt most of the sacred implements. All of these things were recreated and rededicated so that they were fit for the service of worship. This is where we get the idea of rededication, which really is what Hanukkah is known for now. 2. One thing that has always tied America and Israel together is the Judeo-Christian values that have been at the core of our culture and laws. There must be a rededication to these sacred values that are built upon the worship of God, the Word of God, the love of God, and the love of our fellow man. 3. Not only do we celebrate the 75th anniversary of Israel, but we set a course for the next 75 years of her history. There must be a reeducation of the younger generations into why there is a State of Israel and why it is necessary, not only for the Jewish people, but also for the nations of the world. Those lessons of history must be retaught. Resources: Eight Reasons for Christians to Celebrate Hanukkah – Episode 16 Hanukkah—Do Not Be Conformed to the World – Episode 122

John 10:22-30
In this video, we take a brief look at Hanukkah (or the Feast of Dedication, the Festival of Lights) and its history. Should we celebrate this winter holiday or is just for the Jews? What are we to remember on this day? Why do some suggest that we should not observe Hanukkah?
Thursday Evening Bible Study
The story surrounding the Jewish Festival of Lights, is filled with intrigue, fear, war, and then of course, victory. The celebration of that victory gives us the miracle now known as Hanukkah, when a one-day supply of sacred oil to light the Temple Menorah lasted eight days. And eight is significant number in the Jewish heritage because it is, as Moses directed, also the number of days old an infant must be for circumcision. It's one of many signs that nothing happens without God's knowledge or Divine direction. But Hanukkah has a lesson for us all: that God is working even when it seems He is not. On this episode of Lighthouse Faith Podcast, Rabbi Motti Seligson, with Chabad Lubavitch, explains how the leader of the Chabad Lubavitch, named the Rebbe, began a campaign in 1973 to elevate the celebration of Hanukkah, to educate not only Jews but the whole of America and the world about the Feast of Dedication. This conversation was recorded in 2021, when Hanukkah began extremely early, on November 28. This year it begins three weeks later on Sunday, December 18th. Rabbi Seligson's explanation about why there are different dates still holds true today. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit megaphone.fm/adchoices

The Feast of Dedication! – Hanukkah – in Hebrew means – Dedication Christ celebrated this Holiday: And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, (Hanukkah) and it was winter. And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch. ‘ John 10:22-23 This Holiday is on December 25th, starts 8 days leading up to December 25th “Now Maccabeus and his company, the Lord guiding them, recovered the temple and the city: But the altars which the heathen had built in the open street, and also the chapels, they pulled down. And having cleansed the temple they made another altar, and striking stones they took fire out of them, and offered a sacrifice after two years, and set forth incense, and lights, and shewbread. When that was done, they fell flat down, and besought the Lord that they might come no more into such troubles; but if they sinned any more against him, that he himself would chasten them with mercy, and that they might not be delivered unto the blasphemous and barbarous nations. Now upon the same day that the strangers profaned the temple, on the very same day it was cleansed again, even the five and twentieth day of the same month, which is Casleu.” 2 Maccabees 10:1-5 The Scriptures explain that the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah) is on the 25th of December. “Casleu” – the ninth month of the year according to biblical reckoning and the third month of the civil year, usually falling within November/December. “And they kept the eight days with gladness, as in the feast of the tabernacles, remembering that not long afore they had held the feast of the tabernacles, when as they wandered in the mountains and dens like beasts. Therefore they bare branches, and fair boughs, and palms also, and sang psalms unto him that had given them good success in cleansing his place. They ordained also by a common statute and decree, That every year those days should be kept of the whole nation of the Jews.” 2 Maccabees 10:8-8 The Feast of Tabernacle is in October/November. The Scriptures explain that the Feast of Dedication Hanukkah is after that. Further giving more evidence that Hanukkah is on or around the 25th of December. The Feast is kept 8 days and 7 nights which goes with the number of candle sticks: The reason this feast is in no way a disrespect to God nor is it even adding to Gods Word is because all they were doing was rededicating Gods Temple. God has already described how he wanted his Temple dedicated in the Laws of God: ““Make a lampstand of pure gold. Hammer out its base and shaft, and make its flowerlike cups, buds and blossoms of one piece with them. Six branches are to extend from the sides of the lampstand—three on one side and three on the other. Three cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms are to be on one branch, three on the next branch, and the same for all six branches extending from the lampstand. And on the lampstand there are to be four cups shaped like almond flowers with buds and blossoms.” Exodus 25:31-34 ““Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning. In the tent of meeting, outside the curtain that shields the ark of the covenant law, Aaron and his sons are to keep the lamps burning before the Lord from evening till morning. This is to be a lasting ordinance among the Israelites for the generations to come.” Exodus 27:20-21 So the lamp stand and burning candles is symbolic of the Dedication (Hanukah) of Gods Temple, all they did was rededicate the temple once they recaptured it again, with 7 lamp stands. Shalom
