Acts of the Apostles 22: 30; 23: 6-11; Rs psalm 16: 1-2a.5.7-8.9-10.11; John 17: 20-26.MAY WE ARE UNITED Our meditation today has the theme: May We are United.There was a 5-year-old boy who was praying in his room. His parents heard fromoutside the room as if the boy was talking to someone. They peeked in theopening of the door, and saw the child looking up with both hands open. Heexclaimed in his prayer: "Lord Jesus, I often pray to you, but I havenever heard you pray for me. Now I want to hear you pray for me." That boy actually wants to know whether Jesus praysfor us humans or He only listens then later answers to our requests. This isalso often a question of many of us. Today our Gospel reading describes a veryspecial prayer of Jesus, namely, he prays that there will be unity between Godand human beings and between every man and woman. So Jesus prays for each of usand everyone around us, that may we are united. Why is His prayer that may weare united and not we should be united? The most obvious reason is that God gives every humanperson freedom to choose the way to unity or disunity. This is the same ashuman freedom to obey the Lord or to go against Him. Our life is an arena ofplay and struggle to determine who chooses God and who does not. Therefore,human freedom is a natural gift that helps us to determine the actual conditionof our faith and spiritual growth. Another reason is perhaps we are not aware thatpreparation is a very important element in our lives. Jesus' prayer intentionshould encourage us to prepare in building up a genuine fellowship between us,the sons and daughters of God on earth. This preparation aims to increase ourtaste and longing for an eternal communion in heaven which will be achievedafter every one's death. We, therefore, must not underestimate or ignore everyform of unity that we build together in this world. We will disappoint the Lordif we underestimate it. The reason which should be the most important one isthere is only one God who has an eternal dwelling place in heaven. We have togo through a long journey and process in order to get there. There is no magicgame or an express transportation to reach there. If there is no such process,then one might think that a miracle will be enough to bring all of us togetherinto heaven. However, in God's will there should be a process for us to follow.Therefore, we are in accord with Jesus who prays for us that "may we areunited", and we also continue to pray in this manner.                                                                                                                                   The Lord gives us the gift hope. God does noteliminate our hopes and replace them with a must to happen at once. Thereforeour prayers always have the elements of "hopefully", "may"or "will be", as a sign of our hope. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ...  Omost loving God, may the Holy Spirit unite us in this world and prepare us foreternal communion with You in heaven. Kedua orang tuanya mendengar dari luar kamarsepertinya anak itu sedang berbicara dengan seseorang. Mereka mengintip dilubang pintu, dan melihat anaknya memandang ke atas dengan kedua tangannyaterbuka. Ia berseru di dalam doanya: "Tuhan Yesus, aku sering berdoakepada-Mu, tapi aku belum pernah mendengar Engkau berdoa untuk aku. Sekarangaku ingin dengar doamu untuk aku." Bocah itu sebenarnya ingin mengetahui apakah Tuhan Yesus mendoakan kitamanusia. Ini juga sering menjadi pertanyaan dari banyak orang di antara kita.Pada hari ini bacaan Injil kita menguraikan tentang sebuah doa Yesus yangsangat spesial, yaitu ia berdoa supaya terciptalah persatuan di antara Allahdan manusia dan di antara manusia dengan sesamanya. Jadi Yesus berdoa bagisetiap pribadi kita dan semua orang yang ada di sekitar kita, semoga kitabersatu. Mengapa doa-Nya adalah semoga kita bersatu dan bukan kita harusbersatu?    Alasan paling kentara ialah bahwa Tuhan memberikan kebebasan kepada setiapmanusia untuk memilih persatuan atau memilih perpecahan. Ini sama dengankebebasan memilih untuk menaati Dia atau melawan Dia. Hidup kita adalah arenabermain dan berjuang untuk menentukan siapa yang memilih Tuhan dan siapa yangtidak. Jadi kebebasan manusia ialah karunia kodrati yang ikut menentukankondisi iman dan pertumbuhan rohani kita. Alasan lain yang mungkin kurang kita sadari ialah bahwa persiapan sebagaiunsur yang sangat penting dalam hidup kita. Doa Yesus semoga kita bersatu hendaknyamendorong kita untuk menyiapkan suatu persekutuan yang sejati di antara kitaputra dan putri Allah. Persiapan ini berguna untuk meningkatkan selera kitamerindukan suatu persatuan abadi di surga. Maka kita tidak boleh menganggapremeh atau bermain-main dengan setiap jenis persatuan yang kita bangunbersama-sama di dunia ini. Tuhan kecewa kalau kita meremehkannya. Alasan yang paling tinggi nilainya ialah bahwa Tuhan Allah itu esa dantempat Ia berdiam ialah satu saja selamanya, di surga. Untuk sampai ke sanakita harus melewati perjalanan dan proses panjang. Tidak ada permainan sulapatau transportasi kilat untuk bisa sampai di sana. Kalau seandainya tak adaproses maka cukup satu saja mujisat untuk membawa semua orang bersatu di surga.Tetapi ada prosesnya, maka kita memakai “semoga kita bersatu”.  Kita diberi karunia untuk memiliki pengharapan. Tuhan tidak menghilangkanpengharapan kita dan menggantinya dengan harus. Oleh karena itu doa-doa selaluberupa “semoga”, “kiranya” dan “akan”, sebagai tanda pengharapan kita.  Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa ... Ya Allah, semoga Roh Kudus yang diutus kepada kamimempersatukan kami di dunia ini dan mempersiapkan kami untuk persatuan yangabadi bersama-Mu. Salam Maria, penuh rahmat ...Dalam nama Bapa ...

Acts of the Apostles 20: 28-38; Rs psalm 68: 29-30.33-35a.35b-36c; John 17: 11b-19.SHARING THE GIFTS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT Our meditation today has the theme: Sharing the Giftsof the Holy Spirit. There is a group of the Catholic youth who entered thechurch to do a prayer service. They were seven, four girls and three boys. Theywere all amazed by the decoration displayed beside the altar showing the sevenimages of the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Each chose one gift of the Spirit whichmostly suitable to each one's personality, namely the gift of wisdom,understanding, advice, knowledge, piety, fortitude (strength), and fear of God.After praying for few moments, they returned home with joy. There was a good and noble intention from them as agroup of the Catholic youth and as individual Christians as well. They wantedto give testimony to other Catholic youths, so that they could bring all youngpeople around them to a good Christian fellowship in the Church. They also wantedto become apostles in the sharing of the gifts of the Holy Spirit to theirother friends in their neighborhood. They believed that they would becomeuseful Christians if they shared the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Why do we need to share the gifts of the Holy Spirit?There are several important reasons. The first reason is because God himselfhad shared His divine power with humans through the Son of God who became a manin Jesus Christ, then Jesus Himself sent His Spirit to us. God always sharesHimself through His everlasting love, and so we must also able to share thatlove. The main purpose of this sharing is to create unity. This is the core ofJesus' prayer which today's Gospel reading proclaims. A sharing of the gifts ofthe Spirit aims for unity and not for disunity. The second is because the Holy Spirit moves and makesthings work. He moved every person in the Early Church and then initiated theiractivities so that they did not remain silent or hid themselves from public.Saint Paul was sent by the risen Jesus and he was instructed to move from oneplace to another, because he must extend the presence of the Church in allcorners of the earth. We are also filled and moved by the Holy Spirit so thatwe can share the Good News to others. And the third reason is because the one Church that wehave is an inclusive Church. Jesus Christ had entrusted the great mission tothe Church which is to make all people and nations His disciples. So there isno other way to fulfill this except that every member of the Church has to moveout from his or her place and share the gifts of the Holy Spirit to otherpeople. The world might have a lot of things for making people's life nice andenjoyable, but it must be lacking in the love and mercy of the Lord which comesfrom the work of the Holy Spirit. It is truly a blessing for our world todayif the sharing of the gifts of the Holy Spirit really happens in us as amanifestation of the apostolic character of our Holy Church.Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... O Jesus Christ, in the moment of waitingthe coming of the Holy Spirit, we put our faith in You as our true teacher andLord. Strengthen us with Your blessing and love so that in this moment ofpreparation we will always focus with devotion and prayer. Glory to the Fatherand to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... Ada satukelompok orang muda masuk ke dalam gereja untuk berdoa. Mereka berjumlah tujuhorang, empat perempuan dan tiga laki-laki. Mereka semua heran dengan dekorasidi samping altar berupa gambar tujuh karunia Roh Kudus. Masing-masing memilihsatu karunia Roh yang dianggapnya paling cocok dengan karakter dan keadaanpribadinya, yaitu karunia kebijaksanaan, pengertian, nasihat, pengetahuan,kesalehan, keperkasaan (kekuatan), dan takut akan Tuhan. Setelah berdoa, merekakembali dengan hati yang penuh gembira.   Ada sebuah niat yang baik dan mulia dari mereka sebagai satu kelompok orangmuda Katolik dan sebagai pribadi masing-masing. Mereka ingin memberikankesaksian kepada orang muda Katolik lain, supaya membawa semua orang mudaKatolik di dalam persekutuan dan persaudaraan Kristiani yang baik. Mereka jugaingin menjadi rasul-rasul Kristus yang dengan rela dan tekun berbagikarunia-karunia Roh Kudus kepada sesamanya, khususnya di tempat mereka hidupdan bertumbuh. Mereka menjadi berguna kalau mereka berbagi karunia Roh Kudus. Mengapa harus berbagi Roh Kudus? Ada beberapa alasan mendasar. Pertamakarena Tuhan Allah sendiri sudah berbagi dari diri-Nya sendiri. Tuhan Allahberbagi hidup-Nya dengan manusia sehingga Putra Allah menjadi Yesus Kristus,kemudian Yesus sendiri mengutus Roh-Nya bagi kita. Allah sudah berbagi, makakita harus juga bisa berbagi. Tujuan utama berbagi ini ialah supaya persatuandan kesatuan itu dapat diwujudkan, seperti inti doa Yesus yang diwartakanbacaan Injil pada hari ini. Berbagi karunia Roh bertujuan untuk persatuan. Kedua, Roh Kudus bergerak dan berkegiatan. Ia menggerakkan setiap pribadidalam Gereja Perdana lalu menginisiatifkan kegiatan-kegiatan mereka sehinggamereka tidak tinggal diam atau bersembunyi. Santo Paulus harus bergerak danberpindah dari satu tempat ke tempat lain, karena ia harus mengembangkan Gerejake seluruh pelosok bumi. Kita juga dipenuhi dan digerakkan oleh Roh Kudus agarkita dapat berbagi kasih karunia Tuhan kepada orang lain. Ketiga, Gereja itu inklusif dan menaati perintah Yesus untuk menjadikanseluruh bangsa murid-murid-Nya. Maka tak ada cara lain yang paling pas kecualimenggerakkan setiap pengikut Kristus untuk berbagi karunia-karunia Roh Kudus,yaitu menyampaikan segala kebaikan, suka cita dan kebenaran kepada seluruhdunia. Berbagi kepada sesama di dalam persekutuan Yesus Kristus merupakan hukumyang tidak dilalaikan. Berbagi kepada sesama manusia yang lain merupakan perwujudantugas Gereja kita yang apostolik. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... Ya Yesus Kristus, di dalam saat-saat penantian datangnya RohKudus, kami menaruh iman kami kepada-Mu sebagai guru dan Tuhan kami. Acts of the Apostles 20: 17-27; Rs psalm 68: 10-11.20-21; John 17: 1-11a.EMBRACING THEGLORY OF GOD The theme forour meditation today is: Embracing the Glory of God. There was a young man whosaid that he maintained a relationship with his girlfriend through LDR (longdistance relationship). Her girlfriend lived in her home close to the church,so she often shared photos of praying rosary in basic ecclesial community,church services and Holy Mass celebrations. This was different from the youngman who lived in a remote area far from the church. The visit of the ParishPriest to the village was almost impossible. The spiritual life of the peoplethere was very dry.  Whenever he gotpictures of his girlfriend's spiritual activities, he would pick up the crucifixof the Lord Jesus and draw close to his body or hug it. He often also held therosary tightly and kissed it. He made the crucifix of the Lord Jesus a sign ofrelationship and closeness to God. For him it was an expression of embracingthe glory of God. If we embracethe cross, we embrace the glory of God. Saint Paul experienced how thesuffering of the cross became his daily food. The Holy Spirit helps him and allof us to be able to embrace and bear the cross in our lives. There are peoplewho are ready for it like Saint Paul, but there are many who are not ready. So,the Lord Jesus prayed for those who were not ready for their crosses, so thatthey would not have to worry or be afraid. He always helps them to take up theircrosses. Jesus' prayer isrealized through the Holy Spirit who helps us to carry our own crosses. TheHoly Spirit helps us to love the cross, embrace it, and bear it. We must holdfirst before carrying it. That means we are willing and confident to accept it.If we hold or hug something or someone, we love it, and we are careful not tofall to the ground. We love the cross we carry and keep it from falling ormoving to someone else. The cross is ourvictory and glory. Through the cross comes the conquest of sin and salvation isachieved as righteousness for us. What does embracing God's glory mean? First,because Jesus Himself reveals that glory to us, especially when He prays for us.Second, Jesus offered an infinite abundance of life and this illustrates aglory of God. The glory of God means the abundance of His mercy and goodness. Third, we thusknow God personally. A person can be known personally and deeply through thesuffering of his life. We know the Lord Jesus personally and deeply through Hissuffering and cross. Fourth, we also experience the glory of God throughservice to those who suffer. The cross signifies Jesus Christ being united withsinful and suffering people. So we embrace the glory of God basically meansthat we experience God very clearly in our lives. Let us pray. In thename of the Father... O good God, help us to always put Your glory first in allour efforts and duties. Hail Mary, full of grace... In the name of the Father...

Adaseorang pemuda bercerita bahwa ia menjaga relasi dengan pacarnya melalui LDR(long distance relationship). Pacarnya tinggal di rumahnya yang dekat dengangereja, sehinnga ia sering berbagi foto-foto kegiatan doa rosario, pelayanan digereja dan perayaan Misa. Ini berbeda dari si pemuda yang tinggal di pelosokyang jauh sekali dari gereja. Kunjungan Pastor Paroki di kampung itu nyaristidak terjadi. Kehidupan rohani umat di situ amat kering.  Setiap kali mendapat foto-foto kegiatan rohani dari pacarnya, ia mengangkatsalib Tuhan Yesus dan merapatkan ke tubuhnya atau memeluknya. Ia sering jugamenggenggam erat rosario dan mengecupnya. Ia menjadikan salib Tuhan Yesussebagai tanda relasi dan perasaan dekat sekali dengan Tuhan. Bagi dia iniadalah ungkapan memeluk kemuliaan Tuhan. Jika kita memeluk salib, kita memeluk kemuliaan Tuhan. Santo Paulusmengalami betapa penderitaan salib menjadi makanannya tiap hari. Roh Kudusmenolong dia dan kita semua untuk dapat memeluk dan menanggung salib di dalamhidup kita. Ada orang yang siap untuk itu seperti Santo Paulus, namun adabanyak yang tidak siap. Maka Tuhan Yesus mendoakan mereka yang tidak siapdengan salibnya, agar mereka tidak usah kuatir atau takut. Ia selalu menolongmereka untuk memanggul salibnya. Doa Yesus direalisasikan melalui Roh Kudus yang menolong kita memikul salibkita masing-masing. Roh Kudus membantu kita untuk menyukai salib, memeluknya,dan memikulnya. Kita harus memeluk dahulu sebelum memikulnya. Itu berarti kitamau dan menyanggupinya. Kalau memeluk sesuatu atau seseorang, berarti kitamenyayanginya, dan kita berhati-hati supaya ia tidak jatuh. Kita sayang akansalib yang kita pikul dan tetap menjaganya supaya tidak jatuh atau berpindah keorang lain. Salib merupakan kemenangan dan kemuliaan kita. Melalui salib terjadipenaklukan terhadap dosa dan tercapai keselamatan sebagai kebenaran bagi kita.Memeluk kemuliaan Tuhan berarti apa? Pertama, karena Yesus sendiri menyatakankemuliaan itu kepada kita, khususnya saat Ia mendoakan kita. Kedua, Yesusmempersembahkan kelimpahan hidup tanpa batas dan ini menggambarkan sebuahkemuliaan Tuhan. Kemuliaan Tuhan bermakna berlimpah-limpah kemurahan dankebaikan-Nya. Ketiga, dengan demikian kita mengenal Tuhan secara pribadi. Seseorang dapatdikenal secara pribadi dan mendalam melalui penderitaan hidupnya. Kita mengenalTuhan Yesus secara pribadi dan mendalam melalui penderitaan dan salib-Nya.Keempat, kita juga mengalami kemuliaan Tuhan melalui pelayanan kepadaorang-orang yang menderita. Salib menandakan Yesus Kristus bersatu denganmanusia yang berdosa dan menderita. Jadi kita memeluk kemuliaan Tuhan padadasarnya ialah kita mengalami Tuhan dengan sangat nyata di dalam hidup kita. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... Acts of the Apostles 19: 1-8; Rs psalm 68: 2-3.4-5ac.6-7b; John 16: 29-33.THE HOLY SPIRIT HELPS US TO CARRY THE CROSS The theme for our meditation today is: The Holy SpiritHelps Us to Carry the Cross. A student asked his teacher in one the religionclasses: "We are in the Easter season and awaiting with joy of the comingof the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost, but why is our lesson about thecross and the suffering? Where's the joy here, Miss?" The lady teacher responded him by using the analogy ofa pregnant mother. This coincided with the boy's mother who was pregnant withher second child which was a daughter. "All of you at home are happilywaiting for your sister's birth, right? That is the good news. But your mothercarries a heavy burden every day, and it will be more painful during the birthof your sister. All of these are about the cross and suffering. But after thebirth of your sister, your family will be happier than you are now." The boy was quiet and agreed with his teacher. We allalso agree that the Lord gives every one of us the cross according to one's ownability, and this is indeed a burden that one should carry. We must carry itevery day, and when time comes, we will rejoice because the cross gives usconfidence to achieve happiness in God. At the end of suffering and the crossthere is happiness which is already promised by the Lord. The Holy Spirit has a duty to teach us in all truth.One of the elements of this truth is the cross. What we mean by the truth ofthe cross is that our suffering and sorrow with Jesus Christ become ourjustification, because through this cross we are freed from sin and we areallowed to enter into the glory of God. The cross is a victory and glory aswell. We should not see it as a futile suffering, foolishness or a scandal.Jesus had taken up the cross and with that He conquered the world. So we don'thave to worry or be ashamed of the cross. Jesus gives us the best gift, namely His own Spiritand this means that we are baptized in the Holy Spirit. We have all receivedthe Holy Spirit through the sacrament of Baptism. The person named Apollos andhis friends, stated in the first reading today, received the same gift of theSpirit that enabled them to do the evangelization of the Early Church withgreat success. This Spirit filled experience then followed by the laying on ofhands to signify the reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation that makes aperson fully anointed with Holy Spirit. We the followers of Christ and membersof the one Church will renew the moment of the outpouring of the Holy Spiritupon us on the Day of Pentecost which is to be celebrated coming Sunday. The Holy Spirit indeed makes us able to face manyobstacles and difficulties already waiting for us. The Holy Spirit is presentwith us and always accompanies us as we each carry our own cross. It is thesame Holy Spirit who remains with us in all our joy and success, after weendure the difficulties and sufferings that come along our journey in thislife.Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... God the almighty Father, may we remain inthe hope and zeal to welcome your Holy Spirit, and we thank you for Jesus yourSon as our only way to come to You. Kisah Para Rasul 19: 1-8; Mazmur tg 68: 2-3.4-5ac.6-7b; Yohanes 16: 29-33.ROH KUDUSMENOLONG KITA MEMANGGUL SALIB Tema renungan kita pada hari ini ialah: Roh Kudus Menolong Kita MemanggulSalib. Di dalam pelajaran agama, seorang murid bertanya kepada gurunya: “Kitasedang dalam masa Paskah dan menanti dengan suka cita datangnya Roh Kudus padahari Pentakosta, tapi kenapa pelajarannya tentang salib dan penderitaan? Dimana gembiranya Bu?”  Ibu guru yang sudah berpengalaman itu menjawab dengan memakai analogi ibuyang sedang hamil. Persis ibu anak yang bertanya itu sedang hamil adiknya yangkedua. “Kalian di rumah sedang gembira menantikan kelahiran adikmu kan? Itu adalahkabar gembira. Tapi ibumu menanggung beban berat setiap hari, dan terlebih laginanti saat melahirkan. Semua itu adalah salib dan penderitaan. Tapi setelahmelahirkan, kalian pasti  menjadi lebihgembira daripada sekarang.”   Murid itu terdiam dan setuju. Kita semua juga setuju bahwa salib yangdiberikan  Tuhan memang sesuai dengankemampuan kita masing-masing, dan itu adalah beban yang membuat kita menderita.Tetapi kita mesti memanggulnya setiap hari, lalu sampai pada saatnya kitabersuka cita karena salib itu menjadi jaminan untuk kita menjadi gembirabersama Tuhan. Di akhir sebuah penderitaan dan salib ada kebahagiaan yang lebihbesar daripada sebelumnya. Roh Kudus memiliki tugas perutusan untuk mengajarkan kita dalam segalakebenaran. Salah satunya ialah kebenaran salib. Yang dimaksudkan kebenaransalib ialah penderitaan dan duka bersama Yesus Kristus menjadi pembenaran bagikita, karena melalui itu kita dibebaskan dari dosa dan kita diperkenankan masukke dalam kemuliaan Tuhan. Salib itu suatu kemenangan dan kemuliaan. Kitahendaknya tidak melihatnya sebagai penderitaan yang sia-sia, suatu kebodohandan skandal. Yesus telah memanggul salib dan dengan itu Ia menaklukkan dunia.Jadi kita tidak usah kuatir atau malu dengan salib. Yesus memberikan kita karunia terbaik, ialah Roh-Nya sendiri dan ituberarti kita dibaptis dalam Roh Kudus. Kita semua sudah menerimanya melaluisakramen baptis. Karunia yang sama juga yang diterima Apollos danteman-temannya dalam kisah penginjilan Gereja Perdana. Ada penumpangan tangan saatkita menerima Sakramen Penguatan sehingga kita dipenuhi Roh Kudus. Kita akanmembaharui pencurahan Roh Kudus itu pada hari raya Pentakosta nanti. Roh Kudus itulah yang membuat kita mampu menghadapi banyak rintangan dankesulitan yang ada di depan kita. Dalam memikul salib masing-masing, Roh Kudushadir bersama kita. Setelah melewati kesulitan dan penderitaan itu, Roh Kudusjuga tetap bersama kita dalam segala suka cita. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... There were a dog and a catalways gathered as friends behind the church. Leftover food from the rectorykitchen and the parish canteen made them together. But when renovations wereunderway at the rectory and parish canteen, all cooking and food salestemporarily stopped. So there was no more food for the dog and cat. The cat asked his friend, "How can I get food,because the kitchen and canteen are barely stocked? Where are the mothers andsisters who usually cook and sell food in the canteen?" The dog,understanding the cat's plight, immediately replied, "Don't you know? Theyalways order food online. That's the online world. So you have to be onlineuser too and diligently follow them wherever they go, and you'll getfood." Animals can experience our loss. We normally move fromthe church or chapel to the public space of online media. In the today'slifestyle, we constantly interact online. Even spiritual activities likeprayer, faith sharing, Holy Mass, and catechesis can be done online. The smallchurch is the heart of every one of us and online media has become a virtualchurch that bring us together to express their faith. Our spirit of prayer after the Ascension of Jesus and in waiting the day of Pentecost continuesto grow with joyful expectation. We all become one heart in prayer to prepareourselves for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We follow the example of theapostles and Our Lady, the Blessed Virgin Mary, who gathered in prayer togetherin a room in the city of Jerusalem, more than 2000 years ago. Our preparationfor welcoming the Holy Spirit must be in the way of prayer in one hearttogether, and not the activities and undertakeings that do not provide spacefor prayer.                                                                                                             Today the Lord Jesus teaches us about praying with allour hearts, and in unity with our brothers and sisters in the same faith. Aprayerful person who is faithful and holy will contribute to a fervent andfruitful prayer of the community of the people of God. This way of our prayerswill certainly help shaping our community prayers pleasing to God. The presenceof the Virgin Mary as Mother of the Church in every moment of our prayertogether is a best offering that our Church can give to the Lord. This is avery lovely active participation of all beloved children of God in the makingof one heart of all faithful in prayer. Virgin Mary as a caring mother willremind or reprimand us if our disposition in prayer is not in line with whatthe Holy Church practices. We are supposed to do what Jesus says in the Gospeltoday, namely: We should know the Father as the only true God and the One whomthe Father sent, Jesus Christ, if we remain in this spirit of prayer. The HolySpirit helps us to grow in this spirit of prayer. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... Anjing dan kucingselalu berkumpul dan menjadi teman di belakang gereja. Makanan sisa dari dapurpastoran dan dari kantin paroki mempersatukan mereka. Tetapi ketika sedang adarenovasi gedung pastoran dan kantin paroki semua kegiatan memasak dan penjualanmakanan berhenti untuk sementara. Maka tidak ada makanan lagi bagi anjing dankucing.  Kucing berkata kepada temannya:"Bagaimana caranya ya, untuk mendapatkan makanan, karena suplai makanandari dapur dan kantin nyaris tidak ada. Di manakah ibu-ibu dan kakak-kakak yangbiasanya memasak dan menjual di kantin?" Anjing yang mengerti keluhankucing, langsung menjawab: "Kamu tidak tahu? Mereka selalu memesan makananpakai online. Itu namanya dunia online. Makanya harus melek online danrajin-rajin ikut ke mana mereka pergi, kamu akan dapat makanan." Binatang-binatang dapat mengalamikehilangan kita. Tetapi Kita hanya berpindah dari gereja atau kapel ke ruangpublik media online. Dalam zaman sekarang, kita selalu berinteraksi secaraonline. Bahkan kegiatan rohani seperti berdoa, sharing iman, Misa Kudus danpengajaran iman dapat dilakukan melalui media online. Gereja kecil adalah hatikita masing-masing dan media online menjadi bangunan gereja virtual yang dapatmempertemukan setiap orang beriman yang bersama-sama ungkapkan imannya. Semangat kita untuk berdoasetelah hari Kenaikan Tuhan Yesus Kristus dan menantikan Pentakosta tetapberkobar. Kita semua menjadi sehati dalam berdoa sebagai syarat yang harus kitapenuhi untuk menantikan pencurahan Roh Kudus. Kita mengikuti teladan para rasuldan Bunda Maria yang telah melakukan itu di dalam salah satu ruangan di kotaYerusalem, lebih dari 2000 tahun yang lalu. Persiapan untuk menyambut Roh Kudusharus dalam bentuk berdoa bersama dengan satu hati, dan bukan dengankegiatan-kegiatan lain yang bukan berdoa. Pada hari ini Tuhan Yesusmengajarkan kita tentang berdoa dengan sepenuh hati kita sendiri dan sehatidengan saudara-saudari seiman. Berdoa sebagai pribadi yang sungguh-sungguhtekun akan membuat doa bersama sebagai satu Gereja menjadi mantap dan berkenankepada Tuhan. Terlebih-lebih karena di dalam doa bersama itu selalu adakehadiran Bunda Maria sebagai Bunda Gereja, partisipasi aktif kita di dalam doabersama harus menjadi sebuah disposisi rohani yang terbaik. Sebagai Ibu yangpenuh perhatian, ia tentu mengingatkan atau menegur kita kalau sikap kitaberdoa tidak sesuai dengan tata cara Gerejawi yang benar. Dengan semangat berdoa sepertiini, kita dapat mewujudkan apa yang dikatakan Yesus di dalam Injil hari ini,yaitu: kita dapat mengenal Bapa sebagai satu-satunya Allah yang benar danmengenal Yesus Kristus yang telah diutus Bapa. Acts of the Apostles 18: 23-28; Rs psalm 47: 2-3.8-9.10; John 16: 23b-28.USING THE NAME OF JESUS Our meditation today has the theme: Using the Name ofJesus. The parish Priest is a very special position and ministry for a priest.People often think that the so called "parish priest'srecommendation" is a very important means to make things done so easilyand problems get solved quickly. The parish priest's name and his signatureserve half of the work done and it is evident how people have great trust onthe authority of their shepherd, the parish priest. For example, someone wants to send his children to aCatholic school affiliated with the parish. Or people who look for jobs at acompany owned by a parishioner. They submit the required documents and bringwith them the letter from the parish priest which they believe can endorsetheir admission. They believe that the will of the parish priest will be thepriority. However, in other occasions people tend to use the name of theparish priest without his consent because they want to justify the argument or theaction they want to defend.  This is similar to the way we deal with our Father inheaven. We use the name of Jesus Christ to intercede all our requests to theFather. In fact, all our prayers end with this phrase: "through JesusChrist our Lord", which means we actually use the name of Jesus. We feelspecial and honored to use His name. And Jesus himself remains our true servanteven though He is the Lord and is united with the Father and the Holy Spirit inheaven. Does Jesus allow us to use His name? Certainly Hedoes. We know from the Gospel of John that we have just heard that JesusHimself asks us to always use His name, as He says: "Whatever you ask theFather in My name, will be given to you". Using the name of Jesus means wereally know and acknowledge Jesus correctly, so we believe that He will grantwhat we need. We are not supposed to simply take for granted ourduty to know and trust Him correctly and completely. Based on this principle, aperson named Apollos presented to us in the first reading today was given allthe explanations about the person of Jesus Christ. With this way it was hopedthat he could use the name of Jesus correctly in all his preaching activities.We also have responsibility to use the name of Jesus properly in true faith,because our aim is to glorify the Lord and to strengthen our faith. We must be able to avoid using Jesus' name in vain orprofane His divine dignity with any form of blasphemies. We must not use thename of Jesus to support all form of violence, evil or cruelty that are againsthumanity. We must also avoid replacing the name of Jesus with the names ofother saints like the Virgin Mary, Saint Joseph, apostles and many other,because the name the Son of God, our Lord Jesus Christ is our only intercessorto God the Father.Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... O Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen our mindsand hearts to always use Your name properly every time we pray and ask theFather. Jabatan sebagaipastor paroki membuat seorang imam sangat spesial. Umat sering menganggap bahwa“rekomendasi pastor paroki” merupakan sarana yang penting sekali untukmemudahkan mereka mengurusi banyak hal. Surat keterangan pastor paroki sudahmembereskan setengah bagian atau seluruh urusan tertentu. Misalnya ada orang ingin memasukkan anaknya ke sekolah yang terafiliasidengan gereja, atau mendapatkan lowongan kerja di perusahaan yang pemiliknyaadalah umat paroki. Mereka membawa pesan dan nama pastor paroki dan hasilnyasangat positif. Bisa saja Pastor sendiri yang memberikan rekomendasi. Bisa jugaia tidak mengetahuinya, tetapi nama dan jabatannya dipakai untuk kepentinganumat atau orang tertentu. Seperti inilah kalau kita memakai nama Yesus Kristus untuk berbagaikebutuhan yang disampaikan kepada Bapa. Semua doa kita diakhiri dengan “denganperantaraan Yesus Kristus”, berarti nama Yesus Kristus dipakai. Kita merasaspesial dan terhormat memakai nama-Nya. Dan Yesus sendiri tetap menjadi pelayankita meskipun Ia sudah bersatu dengan Bapa dan Roh Kudus di surga.  Apakah Yesus mengizinkan kita memakai nama-Nya? Tentu saja. Kalimat dariInjil Yohanes yang baru saja kita dengar menunjukkan bahwa Yesus sendirimeminta supaya kita memakai nama-Nya: apa saja yang kamu minta kepada Bapadalam nama-Ku, akan diberikan kepadamu. Memakai nama Yesus berarti kita sungguhmengenal dan mengakui Yesus secara benar, sehingga kita percaya bahwa Dia akanmemenuhi kebutuhan kita.  Mengetahui dan percaya kepada Dia secara benar dan utuh merupakan syaratyang tak bisa kita remehkan. Atas dasar ini maka Apollos diberikan semuapenjelasan secara menyeluruh tentang Yesus Kristus, supaya ia dapat memakainama Yesus secara benar dalam seluruh kegiatan pewartaannya. Kita jugamengambil tanggung jawab untuk memakai nama Yesus secara benar, dengan maksudyang benar agar nama Tuhan dimuliakan dan iman kita diperkuat.                                                               Kita harus bisa menghindari memakai nama Yesus secara sembarangan, misalnyamencatut istilah profan pada nama-Nya. Kita tidak boleh memakai nama Yesusuntuk meminta sesuatu yang curang, jahat atau melawan kemanusiaan. Kita jugaharus menghindari menggantikan posisi nama Yesus dengan nama orang kudus laintermasuk Bunda Maria, karena nama Yesus itu satu-satunya perantara kita kepadaBapa. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... Ya Tuhan Yesus Kristus, kuatkanlah pikiran dan hati kamiuntuk senantiasa memakai nama-Mu secara benar setiap kali kami berdoa danmemohon kepada Bapa. For the umpteenth time,Sandro, a teenager who was about to enter the university, apologized to hismother: "I'm sorry Mama, I am very sorry for what I did. I promise not torepeat that act". Sandro only uses money for travel and dating, the realmoney for his preparation for college. He lowered his head and hugged hismother. Everyone hopes that Sandro's promise to change will come true. But any of ourpromises to change from mistakes or sins will be realized as expected throughregret. Regret is shame, sadness, pain, suffering and unpleasantness for havingmade mistakes and sins. Even hatred, anger and dislike for mistakes and sinsare also an important part of a regret. A person who is remorseful indicatesthat he is angry and hurt by the act.  So one shouldnot underestimate regret, deny or play tricks on it. Jesus Christ counseledthat regret must be enjoyed. Every one of His followers would weep and beoverwhelmed with sorrow over the experience of a deficiency or an inabilitylike the one experienced by Jesus' disciples. This is a common thing and wealways face.  But all of thatwill be overcome with the comfort of the Holy Spirit. The comfort and help wereceive after regret is also a normal experience for us. After crying and beingsad, people smile and get excited again. But a regret is seen as most effectiveif it is done for the sins and mistakes we have committed.  Just imagine,there is a mistake made and the person concerned wants to repent, improvehimself, but does not want to regret his actions! I stole a friend's money.Then admitting the act, I would return the money and promised not to stealagain, but I did not regret my action.  What has happenedto me? I didn't have any feelings of shame and sadness. I also didn't feel howsick and lost my friend was. There was no more room in my heart for forgivenessand respect for others. That is the consequence if we have no regret. Trulyregretting ourselves will make our forgiveness sincere, and it will help us notto be tempted to make the same mistakes again.  So again, neverunderestimate that regret. May you and I be among those who consider itpositive and important for a regret. Every mistake demands regret.  Let us pray. In thename of the Father... O Lord, help us always to have deep regret for everymistake and sin we have committed, so that we may truly repent. Our Father who artin heaven... In the name of the Father ...

Untukkesekian kalinya Sandro, remaja yang hendak masuk universitas itu, minta maafkepada ibunya: "Maafkan aku Mama, saya sangat menyesali perbuatan saya.Saya berjanji tak ulangi lagi perbuatan itu". Sandro hanya menggunakanuang untuk jalan-jalan dan pacaran, uang yang sebenarnya untuk persiapannyamasuk kuliah. Ia menunduk dan memeluk ibunya. Semua berharap supaya janjiSandro untuk berubah itu menjadi kenyataan. Tetapi setiap janji kita untuk berubah dari kesalahan atau dosa akanterwujud seperti yang diharapkan harus melalui penyesalan. Penyesalan adalahrasa malu, sedih, sakit, derita dan tidak menyenangkan karena telah berbuatkesalahan dan dosa. Bahkan sikap benci, marah dan tidak suka terhadap kesalahandan dosa juga menjadi bagian penting dari suatu penyesalan. Orang yang menyesalmenunjukkan bahwa ia marah dan sakit dengan perbuatan tersebut.  Jadi orang tidak boleh menganggap remeh penyesalan, menyangkal ataumempermainkannya. Yesus Kristus memberikan nasihat bahwa penyesalan mestidinikmati. Setiap pengikut-Nya akan menangis dan diliputi rasa sedih ataspengalaman kekurangan atau suatu ketidakmampuan seperti yang dialami para muridYesus. Ini merupakan suatu hal yang biasa dan selalu kita hadapi.  Tetapi semua itu akan diatasi dengan penghiburan dari Roh Kudus.Penghiburan dan pertolongan yang kita terima setelah penyesalan juga merupakan suatupengalaman rutin kita. Setelah menangis dan sedih, orang tersenyum danbersemangat kembali. Namun suatu penyesalan dipandang paling efektif yaitu jikaitu dilakukan atas dosa-dosa dan kesalahan yang kita lakukan.  Bayangkan saja, ada sebuah kesalahan yang dilakukan lalu yang bersangkutanmau bertobat, memperbaiki diri, tetapi tidak mau menyesali perbuatannya! Sayamencuri uang teman. Lalu mengakui perbuatan itu, saya akan mengembalikan uangdan berjanji tak mencuri lagi, tapi saya tak menyesali perbuatan saya.  Apa yang terjadi? Saya tidak punya perasaan malu dan sedih. Saya juga tidakmerasakan betapa sakit dan ruginya teman saya. Tak ada lagi ruang di hati sayauntuk maaf dan respek pada orang lain. Itulah akibatnya kalau kita tak punyapenyesalan. Menyesali diri secara benar akan membuat maaf kita tulus, dan akanmembantu kita untuk tidak tergoda melakukan kesalahan yang sama lagi.  Jadi sekali lagi, jangan pernah menganggap remeh penyesalan itu. SemogaAnda dan saya termasuk orang-orang yang menganggap positif dan penting untuksebuah penyesalan. Setiap kesalahan menuntut adanya penyesalan.  Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... Ya Tuhan, bantulah kami selalu untuk memiliki penyesalanmendalam atas setiap kesalahan dan dosa yang kami lakukan, agar kami dapatbertobat sesungguhnya. Bapa kami yang ada di surga ... A man celebrated his 40th anniversary of his birth and hiseldest 10-year-old daughter wrote a little note to him. The note was affixed tothe gift parcel prepared by her mother. It reads like this: "Father isperfect at number 40!" Her father asked about the purpose of that writing,and the girl revealed a hope that her father should be the best father and thebest husband for the family. In the scriptures, 40 is a very important number. Thenumber 40 means completeness and it's a very beautiful thing to enjoy. Moseswent to the mountain and enjoyed his meeting with God for 40 days and 40 nights.After that he received the 10 commandments from God.  The Israelites wandered for 40 years ofpreparation to enter the promised land. Elijah walked 40 days in the middle ofthe wilderness to the mountain of God then he met God there. For 40 days afterresurrection, Jesus appeared to his apostles, and after sending them into thethe world, He ascended to heaven exactly on the 40th day. Our key word here is completeness. We normally arehappy and satisfied when everything and everyone is complete. This means thatwe are already fully booked by God with tickets for our pilgrimages on earth asfollowers of Christ. With that, we will walk with confidence towards heaven.The Ascension of Jesus into heaven gives us assurance of the booking tickets.On each ticket are written several spiritual menus of food that make us happyto enjoy the pilgrimage. The first menu says: "The risen Lord is alwayswith us now and forever." He ascended to heaven but he will always bepresent with us at all times in a different form. His presence is in the HolySpirit. The second menu says: "The risen Lord strengthens us to continueHis works". We carry out our duties, ministry and profession with theenergy of Jesus Christ, the style of Jesus Christ, the heart of Jesus Christand the face of Jesus Christ. The third menu says: "You are my witnesses to allcorners of the world". Through the activities of preaching the Good Newsof the Lord which is supported by the media communication today, everyone inthe world can easily be reached with the Gospel. And the fourth menu says:"Everyone of us are official messengers of Jesus Christ". We must beconsistent with this "official" status in order to distinguish itfrom those who are already using the name of Christ for non-Christian and nonecclesiastical ends. We hope that with these fully booked tickets we areincreasingly excited to welcome the outpouring of the Holy Spirit on the Day ofPentecost and ready to be guided by Him in every moment of our lives. Let'spray. Seorang lelakimerayakan ulang tahunnya yang ke-40 dan putri sulungnya yang berusia 10 tahunmenulis catatan kecil kepadanya. Tulisan itu ditempelkan pada bingkisan kadoyang disiapkan ibunya. Bunyi tulisan itu seperti ini: "Bapak sempurna padaangka 40!" Bapaknya bertanya tentang maksud tulisannya, dan bocah ituberharap, agar ayahnya menjadi seorang bapak dan suami yang paling baik.  Dalam kitab suci kita, angka 40 penting sekali. Maknanya ialah sudahlengkap dan sangat indah untuk dinikmati. Musa pergi ke gunung dan menikmatipertemuannya dengan Allah selama 40 hari dan 40 malam. Setelah itu ia mendapatdari Allah 10 perintah ilahi. Orang-orang Israel mengembara selama 40 tahunpersiapan untuk masuk ke tanah terjanji. Elia berjalan 40 hari di tengah padangbelantara menuju ke gunung Tuhan. Selama 40 hari setelah kebangkitan-Nya, Yesusmenampakkan diri kepada para rasul-Nya sebelum mengutus mereka ke tengah dunia.Pada hari ke-40 Ia naik ke surga. Kata kunci di sini ialah sudah lengkap dan membuat kita merasagembira.  Ini berarti kita di-bookinglengkap oleh Tuhan dengan tiket-tiket untuk berziarah di bumi ini sebagaipengikut-pengikut Kristus. Dengan begitu kita melangkah dalam optimismekristiani menuju ke surga. Yesus naik ke surga sebenarnya untuk memastikantiket-tiket itu bagi kita. Di dalam tiket itu tertulis beberapa menu santapanrohani yang membuat kita senang menikmati ziarah hidup kita. Menu pertama tertulis: “Tuhan yang bangkit selalu menyertai kita saat inidan sampai sepanjang masa”. Ia naik ke surga namun ia akan selalu hadir bersamakita setiap saat dalam bentuk yang berbeda. Ia menyertai kita dengan RohKudus-Nya. Menu kedua tertulis: “Tuhan yang bangkit memperkuat kita untukmelanjutkan karya-karya-Nya”. Kita menjalankan tugas-tugas, pelayanan danpanggilan kita dengan energi Yesus Kristus, gaya Yesus Kristus, hati-pikiranYesus Kristus dan berwajah Yesus Kristus.  Menu ketiga tertulis: “Kalian adalah saksi-saksi-Ku ke seluruh pelosokdunia”. Melalui karya pewartaan yang dibantu dengan kemajuan teknologiinformasi saat ini, semua orang di dunia dapat memperoleh dengan mudahpesan-pesan dari Injil. Dan menu keempat tertulis: “Setiap dari kita adalahpara utusan resmi Yesus Kristus”. Kita harus konsisten dengan status kita“resmi” ini demi membedakan itu dari pihak-pihak yang terlanjur memakai Kristusuntuk kepalsuan atau kepentingan yang bukan Kristiani dan gerejani. Kiranya dengan tiket-tiket yang sudah jadi ini kita semakin menyanggupidiri kita untuk menyambut pencurahan Roh Kudus pada hari Pentakosta dan siapuntuk dibimbing-Nya dalam setiap saat hidup kita. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... At 7 AM the Parish Priest was ready in the sacristy to proceedto the altar and the Holy Mass would soon start. The choir leader and memberswere anxious because the people present were only a quarter of the church'scapacity. They asked the priest to wait for other people to come before theHoly Mass could begin. But the Pastor answered: "The Mass does not dependon the number of people present in the church." What the Parish Priest did is something that can serveas a reflection of the growth of our faith and our being a Church, that weare not only after the quantity or numbers. We also really need quality. In thecontext of the preaching of the gospel by Saint Paul and his companions inAthens, in the arena of Aeropagus, many rejected all Paul's teachings aboutJesus Christ, and only one or two who accepted and became believers. This is avery small quantity when it is compared with a number of places they hadvisited and evangelized. If the main target is number or as many new followersas possible, this outcome in Athens would be so disappointing. The quality of our livesis very dependent on our ability to live in the light and guidance of the HolySpirit. With the Holy Spirit, we have a specific place in Jesus Christ. There are two human tendencies for pursuing quantityand quality often cause us problems. Those who pursue numbers can be morefavorable for material, physical, social and success gain. Those who pursuequality can be more elitist, exclusive, irrelevant and unrealistic. So, the bestway for us would be to have a balance, which is the quantity we deserve and atthe same time we give quality to the quantity that we have. For example, our presence in the community or familyis so little, but we should spend it with the best quality that can contributeto the good impact for all. If you have enough money and goods, you should paymore attention to the quality of life and be generous to other people who areless fortunate. You may be thin, but your health must be good. You are lesssmart, but you are responsible. We must make a balance of life as a way tothank and glorify our Lord. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... Tepatpukul 7 pagi Pastor Paroki sudah bersiap di sakristi untuk berarak menuju altardan Misa dapat segera dimulai. Pemimpin koor dan anggotanya merasa gelisahkarena umat yang hadir baru seperempat kapasitas gereja. Mereka meminta pastorsupaya sebaiknya menunggu umat lain datang baru dapat dimulai Misa kudus.Tetapi sang Pastor menjawab: "Misa tidak bergantung pada jumlah yang hadirdi dalam gereja."  Sikap Pastor Paroki ini merupakan refleksi atas kenyataan di dalampertumbuhan iman dan Gereja kita, bahwa kita tidak hanya mengejar jumlah. Kitajuga sangat membutuhkan kualitas. Dalam konteks penyebaran Injil yang dilakukanPaulus dan rekan-rekannya di Athena, di arena Aeropagus, banyak sekali yangmenolak semua ajaran Paulus tentang Yesus Kristus, dan hanya satu dua orangsaja yang percaya. Jumlah ini sangat sedikit kalau dibandingkan dengan sejumlahdaerah lain yang telah mereka kunjungi.  Kalau yang dikejar terutama ialah jumlah atau sebanyak mungkin pengikutbaru, hasil ini pasti sangat mengecewakan. Namun Paulus dan rombongannya tahubahwa ini adalah pekerjaan milik Tuhan, semuanya biar Tuhan saja yangmenghendaki. Di dalam Tuhan tak ada rivalitas atau perhitungan untung rugijumlah dan kualitas. Bagi Tuhan, pokoknya ada orang yang percaya, mengikuti Diadan menghidupi imannya itu dengan berkualitas. Jumlah yang ada sekarang inimerupakan realisasi pilihan Yesus atas kita dari dunia ini. Kualitas hidup kitasangat bergantung pada kemampuan kita hidup dalam terang dan bimbingan RohKudus. Bersama Roh Kudus, kita memiliki tempat di dalam Yesus Kristus. Dua kecenderungan manusia untuk mengejar jumlah dan kualitas seringmendatangkan masalah. Mereka yang mengejar jumlah saja bisa jadi lebihberambisi material, jasmani, sosial dan kesuksesan duniawi. Mereka yangmengejar kualitas saja bisa jadi lebih elitis, eksklusif, kurang mendarat dantidak realistis. Maka jalan paling baik ialah keseimbangannya, yaitu jumlahkita perlukan sekaligus kita berikan kualitas pada jumlah yang ada.  Misalnya, kehadiran kita di dalam komunitas atau keluarga kurang banyak,tetapi dari kehadiran yang hanya sedikit itu dibuat sangat berkualitas yangmembawa pengaruh yang baik dan sehat. Kalau Anda berkecukupan rezeki, hendaknyakualitas kesejahteraan hidup lebih diperhatikan dan bermurah hati kepada oranglain yang kurang beruntung. Anda mungkin bertubuh kurus, namun kesehatan harusbaik. Anda kurang pintar, namun bertanggung jawab. Kita wajib membuatkeseimbangan hidup agar Tuhan berkenan kepada kita. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... There is a story that tells about one occasion in hell, when theleader of Satan gave instructions to his servants, that they never stoptempting human beings and bring them into sin. One of his servants asked,"Why not stop?" The leader answered: "Because all people willlose their jobs, we and the Holy Spirit." Jesus Christ points out the task of the Holy Spirit asthe judge, as He says: "When he comes, he will convict the world". IfSatan stops bringing the world and human beings into sin, there is no morestory about the judgment given to the world and humans. The Spirit of Justicecame at the moment the world really needed renewal. Jesus and the members ofthe Early Church stood in the midst of the world to testify aboutrighteousness, goodness and about truth. Their testimony certainly proved thatsuch life that God wants was not perish after Jesus Christ died and ascended toheaven. It is the Holy Spirit who judges and determines who isreally right and who is wrong and deserves punishment. The Holy Spirit does nothave body and flesh, therefore, His judgment will surely be very just and wise.The Spirit will make everyone and the whole world know about the existence ofsin. Sin is an act against God and the sinful person does not believe in whomGod has sent to the world, which is Jesus Himself. People who do not accept Godmeans they cannot enjoy the real happiness and the reward of eternal life. Thesinners are reminded that life after death is a very terrible and endlesssuffering. The Holy Spirit also shows to the world the existenceand the power of truth, goodness and justice from the Lord. Jesus' life was alltrue in doing the will of the Father and he was faithful to it to death. AfterHis death, Jesus ascended to the Father in heaven. This is a liberating truththat we all profess, just like the freedom of Paul and Silas from prison asexplained in the first reading today. This is what the righteous persons, thegood people and the just ones will receive as the eternal reward providedfor them. The Holy Spirit opens the eyes of the whole world thatthe trial against the sinners is very evident. Sinners, and especially thosewho do scandals that have caused many people into sin, must deserveextraordinary punishment. They have no place in God. In this world, trial willalways happen in order to ensure that sinful acts only bring suffering to thehuman body and soul. The suffering in hell will be even more terrible. So weshould always open ourselves to the trial made by the Holy Spirit and we have noway to avoid it. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... Almighty God, may we open ourselvessincerely to receive the Holy Spirit whom You send us, to ensure that we remainon the way of truth, the way of Jesus Christ Himself. Hail Mary, full of grace... Ada ceritabahwa di dalam neraka pemimpin Setan memberikan instruksi kepada parapembantunya, supaya jangan pernah berhenti menggodai manusia dan menjatuhkanmereka ke dalam dosa. Salah satu pembatunya bertanya, "Mengapa tidak bolehberhenti?" Pimpinan menjawab: "Karena semua orang akan hilangpekerjaan, baik kita maupun Roh Kudus."                                                          Yesus Kristus menyebutkan tugas Roh Kudus sebagai pengadil, kata-Nya“ketika Ia datang, ia akan mengadili dunia”. Jika Setan berhenti menjatuhkandunia dan manusia ke dalam dosa, tidak ada lagi cerita tentang pengadilanterhadap dunia dan manusia. Roh Pengadil itu datang pada kondisi telah adatitik pembaharuan. Yesus dan para anggota Gereja Perdana berdiri tegak ditengah dunia untuk membuktikan bahwa yang benar, yang baik dan yang adil itutetap ada. Kehidupan yang dikehendaki Allah tidak hilang lenyap setelahwafat-Nya Yesus Kristus dan naik ke surga.  Roh Kuduslah yang mengadili dan menentukan siapa sesungguhnya yang benardan siapa yang salah dan harus dihukum. Roh Kudus tidak bertubuh dan berdaging,jadi pengadilannya akan sangat adil dan bijaksana. Roh akan membuat setiaporang dan seluruh dunia tahu sebenarnya dosa itu seperti apa. Dosa ialahperbuatan melawan Tuhan dan tidak percaya akan Yang diutus Allah yaitu Yesussendiri. Orang yang tidak menerima Tuhan berarti ia tidak dapat menikmati sukacita dan hidup yang abadi. Orang-orang berdosa diingatkan bahwa hidup setelahdi dunia ini adalah yang sangat mengerikan dan menderita. Roh Kudus juga memperlihatkan seperti apa kebenaran, kebaikan dan keadilan itu. Hidup Yesus adalah benar dan ia pertahankan itu sampai mati. Setelahkematian-Nya, Yesus menuju kepada Bapa di surga. Ini adalah sebuah kebenaranyang membebaskan, sama seperti kebebasan Paulus dan Silas dari penjara sepertiyang dikisahkan dalam bacaan pertama liturgi hari ini. Ini yang akan diperoleh orang-orangbenar, baik dan adil, sebagai karunia abadi baginya. Roh Kudus membuka mata seluruh dunia bahwa penghakiman terhadap parapendosa sudah sangat jelas. Para pendosa, dan terutama para pembuat skandalyang telah menjerumuskan banyak orang ke dalam dosa, harus mendapatkan hukumanyang  luar biasa. Mereka tidak mendapattempat di dalam Tuhan. Di dunia ini, penghakiman akan terus terjadi untukmemastikan bahwa perbuatan dosa hanya membawa kesengsaraan jiwa dan ragamanusia. Kesengsaraan di dalam neraka akan jauh lebih dahsyat lagi. Maka kitahendaknya selalu membuka diri kepada pengadilan yang dipimpin oleh Roh Kudus. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... There is a female dog with three puppies that are very cute. In themorning the mother dog carried a number of bones from the back of the kitchento feed her three children. Day and night the food were also the bones leftoverfrom her master's kitchen. The next two days the food were still the samebones. The three children began to get bored and planned to fight. They showedtheir strong protest to their mother. Then all three agreed to do a hunger strike. Theychose to sleep or play instead of eating bones. It turned out that when theywere enjoying themselves, their mother brought fried rice from the master'skitchen. That most delicious food was just left alone until it was rotten, andthe children were very disappointed when they saw for themselves that whattheir mother had brought was not the bones, but the most delicious fried ricethey always dream to eat. The mother dog is an example of a faithful helper toher children. Many of us are good and faithful helpers in one way or another.What form the help is like and how it is manifested, depends very much on thehelper. The person who is helped does not need to be tempted to imagine theform of the help to be given to him or her. Lidya, a Christian woman in thefirst reading, offered lodging assistance to Paul and his companions. That isthe secret of Lydia, a good and generous helper. Paul and Silas did not have tobother knowing all the contents of the plan of help from that woman and herfamily. This is what we intend to say about the secret of ahelper. Do we ever know the secret of God's will to helps us? Never. The HolySpirit sent by Jesus Christ and His Father from heaven for us, also has secretaccording to His will. Jesus only revealed the sign that His messenger is ourAdvocate and Defender. We just allow Him to do His job in helping us. We do nothave the authority to force our desires on the Holy Spirit. The point is that,what He will do for us is our benefit and our salvation. Anyone from us who have intention, will, plan and workto help, let him do in good will and clear motivation out of love. His helpmust be appropriate, positive, healthy and with the aim of bringing goodnessand salvation to those people helped. We are not supposed to help others withevil means and ends. It is not helping, but only imposing one's own will whichplunges others into sin, trouble and suffering. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... Lord Jesus Christ, help us to imitateYourself in helping others, and may we always open to all teachings of YourHoly Spirit. Ada seekoranjing betina dengan tiga anaknya yang sangat lucu. Pada pagi hari ibu anjingitu membawa sejumlah tulang dari belakang dapur untuk menjadi santapan ketigaanaknya. Siang dan malam juga makanannya adalah tulang-tulang sisa makanantuannya. Dua hari berikutnya makanannya tetap berupa tulang-tulang. Tiga anakitu mulai bosan dan berencana untuk melawan.                                                Lalu ketiganya kompak untuk mogok makan. Mereka memilih untuk tidur ataubermain dari pada makan tulang-tulang. Ternyata ketika mereka sedang asyikdengan dirinya masing-masing, ibu mereka membawa nasi goreng yang dibawanyadari dapur. Makanan enak itu terlanjur dibiarkan saja sampai rusak, dananak-anak itu kecewa sekali ketika mereka melihat sendiri bahwa yang dibawaibunya itu bukan tulang-tulang, tetapi nasi goreng yang paling enak. Induk anjing tersebut adalah contoh penolong setia bagi anak-anaknya. Banyakdari kita adalah penolong yang baik dan setia. Seperti apa bentuk pertolonganitu dan bagaimana melakukannya, sangat bergantung pada si penolong. Pihak yangditolong tidak usah tergoda berimajinasi tentang wujud pertolongan itu. Lidia,seorang wanita Kristen dalam bacaan pertama, mempersembahkan pertolonganpenginapan kepada Paulus dan rombongannya. Itu adalah rahasia Lidia, sipenolong yang baik. Paulus dan Silas tidak perlu repot mengetahui semua isirencana penolong wanita itu dan keluarganya. Inilah yang dimaksudkan oleh renungan ini tentang rahasia seorang penolong.Apakah kita pernah tahu rahasia kehendak Tuhan yang menolong kita? Tidakpernah. Roh Kudus diutus Yesus Kristus dan Bapa-Nya dari surga bagi kita, jugamempunyai rahasia sesuai kehendak-Nya. Yesus hanya membuka kartu dengan berkatabahwa utusan-Nya itu adalah Penasihat dan Pembela kita. Kita biarkan saja hal itusebagai urusan Dia dalam menolong kita. Kita tidak mempunyai wewenang untukmemaksakan keinginan kita kepada Roh Kudus. Yang jelas, apa yang akandiperbuatkan-Nya bagi kita adalah kebaikan dan keselamatan kita. Siapa pun dari kita yang mempunyai niat, kehendak, rencana dan hakikathidup untuk menolong, hendaklah ia mendasari dirinya pada prinsip cinta kasih. Pertolongannyaharus pantas, positif, sehat dan dengan tujuan untuk membawa kebaikan dankeselamatan bagi yang ditolong. Jangan pernah menolong sesama dengan cara dantujuan yang jahat. Itu bukan menolong, tetapi hanya memaksakan kehendak sendiriyang akan menjerumuskan pihak yang ditolong ke dalam kesulitan dan penderitaan.Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... Tuhan Yesus Kristus, bantulah kami selalu untuk meneladanidiri-Mu dalam menolong sesama, dan semoga kami terbuka dengan semua ajaran RohKudus-Mu. There were two men from the samevillage and have been friends since childhood. When they were still in school,they always helped each other if there were any difficulties they faced. Butthe form and quantity of help was only kind of attention according to theirabilities as children. Some decades later, one of them became the mayor intheir place of ​​origin and his childhood friend worked as a teacher in aremote elementary school. The two of them sometimes met and could remember thegood old days. They have the same understanding, that is, to be able to givegreater and more attention and assistance to others, one must have a bigger orhigher position and responsibility. The mayor certainly has every possibility to help andserve others which is greater and bigger, compared to the elementary schoolteacher. A person of position in government or private sector also has the sameprivilege in serving and helping others. He or she acts on the basis of love,truth and kindness. With this supernatural quality, the HolySpirit certainly helps in all times, in every place and to all persons. Heserves and helps all without exception. From the first Pentecost to thepresent, as we are approaching the Anniversary of the Pentecost Day this year,the Advocate or the Helper remains faithful in helping us. He helps us becauseHis nature is to help. We all the followers of Christ have been consecratedby the Holy Spirit and are sent by the power of the almighty God. So, we indeedhave the ability to serve and help with greater quantity and quality accordingto one's own competence and condition of life. Ada dua orang laki-lakiberasal dari satu kampung dan berteman sejak kecil. Saat masih sekolah, merekaselalu saling membantu bila ada kesulitan apa pun yang mereka hadapi. Tetapibentuk dan besarnya bantuan itu hanya sejauh kemampuan mereka sebagai anak-anak.Beberapa puluh tahun kemudian, salah satu dari mereka menjadi Bupati di daerahasal mereka dan teman masa kecilnya itu bekerja sebagai guru di satu sekolahdasar terpencil. Mereka berdua kadang-kadang bertemu dan dapat mengenang masalalu yang indah. Mereka sepakat tentang satu hal yaitu, untuk dapat memberikanperhatian dan bantuan yang lebih besar dan lebih banyak kepada sesama,seseorang harus memiliki kedudukan atau jabatan yang besar dan tinggi.  Sang bupati tentu saja memilikisegala kemungkinan untuk membantu dan melayani orang lain jauh lebih besar danlebih banyak, dibandingkan dengan sang guru sekolah dasar. Seorang pejabat baikpemerintah maupun swasta juga memiliki keistimewaan yang sama dalam melayanidan menolong orang lain. Kuncinya ialah ia berbuat atas dasar cinta, kebenarandan kebaikan. Ia hanya dapat dipercayai dan dicintai orang lain kalau semuapelayanan dan pertolongan yang ia berikan ialah bukan untuk dirinya ataukelompoknya sendiri, tetapi semata-mata bagi banyak orang yang dilayani.  Kita mendasari iman kita kepadaTuhan di atas suatu kebenaran bahwa Tuhan adalah penolong setia yang tidakingin kita binasa dan hilang, tetapi keselamatan kita. Pada hari ini TuhanYesus memberikan kita kepastian tentang datangnya Roh Kudus sebagai penolongkita. Roh ini diutus-Nya dari tempat yang tinggi dan memiliki kuasa yangsungguh besar, sehinga Ia tentu saja menolong dengan tidak ada batas waktu,tempat dan orang. Ia melayani dan menolong semua tanpa kecuali. Dari sejakPentekosta pertama sampai saat ini, menjelang kita merayakan peringatanPentekosta untuk kesekian kalinya, Penolong itu tetap setia menolong kita. Iamenolong kita karena esensi diri-Nya ialah Penolong. Kita semua pengikut Kristusmendapatkan pengurapan Roh Kudus dan diutus oleh kuasa Ilahi yang maha tinggi.Maka kita memang memikiki kemampuan untuk melayani dan menolong dalam ukuranbesar dan banyak sesuai dengan tugas dan kepercayaan yang ada pada kita. Tugasitu dimulai dengan para rasul dan murid-murid Yesus dahulu sampai dengan saatini. Dunia dan sekitarnya sangat membutuhkan pertolongan dari kita. Makanasihat bijaksana menjadi sangat penting bagi kita, yaitu kita hendaknya selalubersiap sedia untuk menolong orang lain yang datang meminta dari kita tentangpengharapan yang ada pada kita. Roh Kudus membuat kita mampu menolong siapasaja.  Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... Acts of the Apostles 16: 1-10; Rs psalm 100: 1-2.3.5; John 15: 18-21.BETWEEN THE HOLY SPIRIT AND EVIL SPIRIT Our meditation today has the theme: Between the HolySpirit and Evil Spirit. This reflection wants to bring our attention to twopoints of view about the spirit of life that all of us have. From the positionof the Lord Jesus Christ and all those belong to Him, the spirit that is inconstant opposition with Him is no other than the evil spirits with Satan asthe commander. Whereas, from the position of the evil spirits, theSpirit of God is their greatest enemy. The Holy Spirit sent to the world hasthe duty to animate all of us and the Church with His divine gifts. Byreceiving the sacraments and do spiritual activities, we are graced with theHoly Spirit. But this is only one side of the reality. The Satan, as indicatedin the scriptures, after not being able to conquer Jesus who fasted for 40 daysin the wilderness, he always waited for the appropriate time to tempt and conquerJesus and all those belong to Him. None of us is free from the Satan'stemptation. So, there are two opposing spirits that we alwaysencounter in this life. We never live neutral or in empty space and time. As weare alive, we certainly belong to one of them to the moment of our death. Whichspirit wins in the end depends very much on who the human person chooses toside with according to his or her free will. But there is a situation which wemay call a peaceful moment. When there is no conflict of interests, it happensthat the two spiritual powers are present and close to us. For example, when you are alone in a quiet moment inthe room. You have no evil thought and intention, and no sinful act. At thesame moment and place there is close to you the evil spirit who is ready totempt you. He is waiting for a proper time when you are out of control or youare unaware of yourself. Every single moment is so precious opportunity forSatan when we do not use it well. When that crucial moment of conflict happens,you must choose truth or evil, good or bad, right or wrong.                                                             A very important point here is that as followers ofChrist, we must be able to reject the spirit that is not in line with JesusChrist. Christ has prepared us to be able to distinguish the Holy Spirit fromthe evil spirits. He always commands us to obey to the Word of God. He says,"I chose you from this world". We belong to Jesus, so we have theability to avoid the evil spirits. This was also the experience of theapostles, Paul and Barnabas, when they did their extraordinary mission ofpreaching the Gospel. The saints are our role models for choosing the HolySpirit rather than the evil spirits. Someone who gives you advice or reminder that you mustchoose the Holy Spirit and reject the evil spirits, let it be clear to you thathe or she must be a messenger from God. As we approach the Feast of thePentecost, we should open ourselves sincerely so that the Holy Spirit is theOne who fills us with His divine gifts, and not any other spirits. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us alwayswith Your blessings so that we will be able to fight the influences of thisworld that are contrary to You. Renunganini ingin membawa perhatian kita kepada dua sudut pandang tentang semangathidup yang kita miliki di dalam kehidupan kita. Dari posisi Tuhan Yesus Kristusdan semua komponen dalam perutusan-Nya, roh yang berlawanan itu pasti roh jahatdengan Setan sebagai panglima.  Sedangkan dari posisi lawan, yaitu roh duniawi dan Setan sebagai panglima,roh yang berlawanan ialah kebaikan dan kebenaran yang telah dibawa oleh YesusKristus melalui pengorbanan diri-Nya dan masih diteruskan saat ini oleh Gereja.Roh jahat ini, seperti ditunjukkan dalam kitab suci, setelah tidak mampumenaklukkan Yesus di padang gurun, ia selalu menunggu saja saat yang palingtepat bagi dia untuk menggoda dan menaklukkan lagi pihak yang diinginkannya. Dua kubu, Roh Kudus dan roh jahat tentu saja berseberangan arah. Pihak manayang unggul pada akhirnya, sangat bergantung pada siapa manusia itu yang memilihuntuk berpihak sesuai dengan kehendak bebasnya. Namun dalam situasi tanpaperang, atau lebih tepatnya tidak ada konflik kepentingan, sering terjadi bahwakedua kubu ini berdampingan dalam suasana tenang.  Misalnya Anda dalam suasana tenang di dalam kamar. Di dalam dirimu tidakada gangguan pikiran jahat, niat yang aneh dan perbuatan yang menyimpang. Disitu juga ada kehadiran roh jahat yang tetap menunggu saatnya dirimu lepaskontrol dan tidak menyadari diri, ia akan segera menggodai dengan maksudmenguasai dirimu. Kira-kira begitu keberadaan kita setiap saat. Begitu konflik kepentingandatang, Anda harus memilih yang baik atau jahat, yang benar atau salah. Poin yang sangat penting di sini ialah bahwa sebagai pengikut Kristus, kitamesti dapat membedakan roh yang berlawanan itu, semangat yang berseberangan,atau kepentingan yang tak sejalan dengan Yesus Kristus. Kristus telahmempersiapkan kita untuk dapat memiliki kemampuan untuk membedakan. Ia selalumenegaskan supaya kita tetap berpegang pada firman-Nya. Ia berkata, “Aku telahmemilih kamu dari dunia ini”. Kita menjadi milik Yesus, jadi kita mempunyaikemampuan untuk memastikan ada roh yang berlawanan dengan Yesus. Pengalaman initelah dialami oleh para rasul, Paulus dan Barnabas, ketika menjalani misi yangluar biasa. Para kudus adalah teladan bagi kita untuk hal ini. Siapa pun di dekat kita yang memberikan nasihat atau teguran supaya kitaharus memilih Roh Tuhan dari roh jahat, dia adalah utusan Yesus. Kita semakinmendekati pesta Pentakosta, maka hendaknya kita membuka diri dengan tulus agar Roh Kudus itulah yang memenuhi diri kita,bukan roh yang lain. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa ... Acts of the Apostles 15: 22-31; Rs psalm 57: 8-9.10-12; John 15: 12-17.IN LOVE AND FOR LOVE Our meditation today has the theme: In Love and forLove. The idea behind this sentence is actually about the fact that God had created us out of love. God designed themarriage of our parents, from which each of us born through the womb of our ownmothers, then eventually we came to the world and have a life to embrace tillnow. This truth shows that every human person is brought to life in love andwith love.  This Life exists because of love. It is the love thatbrought us into the world, and that love is no other than God. The 1stLetter of John (1 John 4, 8) testifies that God is love, Deus caritas est. Moreover, love is the fruit of our Christian lifeor the manifestation of our faith. That is why, Jesus himself summarized alllaws into only one law, which is the supreme law of love. The commandment oflove leads us to love God and our neighbors as well. The Lord Jesus assures usto be always connected to Him as the true vine, for we are all the branches, sothat we will not be separtated from this love. The Lord Jesus has a model of the greatest love toteach us and to draw us to follow that love, which is His own sacrifice, dyingon the cross, for our salvation. This greatest love was already passed on to usand now is in our hands, in our hearts, and our faith. It is our duty andresponsibility to implement the spirit of sacrifice of self according to one'sown vocation and context, with the same goal which is the salvation of souls. So, our life in and for love stands on the solidfoundation of our union with Jesus Christ as the source of life. There are atleast four points to explain this truth. The first point is God had poured Hislove into our hearts. This occured for the first time at baptism, then follewedby the word of God preached, the blessings conferred, and the loving mercyshared that we receive gratuitously every day. The early church in Antioch wastruly filled with this unceasing outpouring of God's love through the words andteachings preached and shared. The second point is Jesus Himself treats us asfriends, and not as servants. In this friendship, He teaches and gives usexamples of how to love with our whole hearts or in a radical way. The thirdone is the commitment of the renunciation of self and death. Every true act oflove conceives an expression of sacrifice and this means that he mustexperience death of himself, that can be partly and can be also the whole. If we are ready for ordinary or simple acts of love,we are in a sense preparing ourselves to die for the bigger or greater acts oflove we might do. And the fourth point is that our love will only be the trueone if it is known by the fruits produced to benefit ourselves and others aswell. For example, if I am happy to welcome with smile and warm greeting the guests who cometo my house, for sure they will be happy and honored. We become friends. Theseare the fruits of love. Because when love does not gives any fruits, it's a lieand denial. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... Lord Jesus Christ, as You teach us Your ownexample of the true love, make us always remain in Your love and continue tolove without counting the cost. Hail Mary, full of grace ... Maksudtersirat dalam kalimat ini ialah kita diciptakan oleh Tuhan Allah, melaluiperkawinan orang tua kemudian dilahirkan ibu kita masing-masing, adalah suatukejadian dalam cinta dan untuk mencintai. Kehidupan itu ada ialah karena cinta.                         Sumber atau pokok yang membuahkan kita adalah cinta itu sendiri, sepertiyang dikatakan dalam Surat Pertama rasul Yohanes 4, 8 bahwa Allah itu adalahkasih, Deus caritas est. Dan buah-buahdari hidup iman kita adalah cinta itu sendiri. Ini dapat terjadi karena kita selaluterhubung dengan Tuhan kita Yesus Kristus sebagai pokok anggur, dan kita semuaadalah ranting-rantingnya.  Hubungan cinta ini ditandai oleh perbuatan cinta terbesar Yesus Kristus,yaitu mengorbankan diri-Nya, atau mati dengan sangat keji, demi kebaikan dankeselamatan kita semua. Cinta terbesar inilah yang diwariskan kepada kita,supaya kita juga dengan cara kita masing-masing dapat berkorban diri demikebaikan dan keselamatan sesama yang membutuhkan tindakan cinta kasih. Jadi kita hidup "dalam cinta dan untuk cinta" bersumberkan padapersatuan dengan Yesus Kristus sebagai pokok kehidupan.  Paling kurang ada empat poin untuk menjelaskankebenaran ini. Pertama, Tuhan telah menyirami cinta-Nya ke dalam hati kita. Initerjadi pertama kali saat pembaptisan, dan selanjutnya melalui siramanfirman-Nya, sentuhan berkat-Nya, pelukan kasih-Nya yang kita terima setiap hari.Gereja Perdana di Antiokhia sungguh dipenuhi oleh cinta kasih Tuhan melaluifirman dan ajaran untuk diikuti oleh seluruh Gereja. Kedua, Yesus sendiri perlakukan kita sebagai sahabat, dan bukan sebagaihamba. Karena itu dalam hubungan sebagai sahabat ini, Ia akan selalumengajarkan dan memberikan kita contoh bagaimana mengasihi sedemikian totalseperti yang telah dilakukan-Nya. Ketiga, komitmen cinta ialah sampai mati.Sekecil atau sesederhana apa pun cinta itu, isinya ialah berkorban dan kalauberkorban berarti orang harus mengalami kematian dari dirinya baik sebagianmaupun seluruh dirinya.  Kalau kita mantap untuk mati dalam perbuatan-perbuatan cinta yangsederhana, kita akan sangat siap untuk mati dalam cinta yang lebih besar.Keempat, cinta itu dalam perwujudannya, menghasilkan buah. Misalnya sayagembira menyambut dengan senyum dan menyalami tamu yang datang, buahnya ialah,tamu itu akan menjadi betah dan menjadi sahabatku. Karena cinta yang tidakmenghasilkan buah yang baik, ia adalah kebohongan, kepalsuan dan pengkhianatan. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa ... Tuhan Yesus Kristus, sebagaimana Engkau telah mengajarkandan memberikan kami contoh untuk mencintai dengan benar, kuatkanlah kami selaluuntuk tetap berada di dalam cinta-Mu itu dan semoga kami selalu mencintaisesama kami tanpa bosan dan lelah. This is a sentence that came from Jesus himself when he revealed himselfto the world as the true vine. He invites all His followers to live with Him,for in Him there is a life that can produce abundance of fruits of love, joy,happiness and salvation. The apostles who heard Him directly had proven themselvesto live with Jesus and they bore fruits in their mission as true witnesses ofthe Lord Jesus Christ to the whole world, as genuine messengers of the Gospel. To fulfill the work of salvation according to theFather's will, Jesus invited those who followed and believed in Him to livewith Him.  He does also now to you and tome. Living in Him makes us enjoy His immense and perpetual love. We respond tothis invitation with our faith that we are ready, we want to, and we long tolive in Him. In the midst of our daily activities day and night, this invitationcomes along and prompts us to think, this must be for our happiness andfullness of life. We cannot simply take it for granted. For those who alwayslive sincerely in God's love, this invitation of Jesus is certainly a greatspiritual enrichment for them. For example, a family that always lives in peace,harmony and love, when it accepts this invitation in good will, they surelyachieve a step further in their growth of faith. For those families orindividuals who have no experience of love or maybe the one who prefers morehatred than love, this invitation and its assurance for a happy life in JesusChrist is a divine initiative that wants to bring them back to God, in theembrace of His bountiful love.  They don't need to be shy, nor to be afraid and theyhave to avoid feeling lack of confidence, because the one who invites and givesassurance is the Lord himself. They must be sure that the love of God is farmore powerful that can overcome all human weaknesses. God's love can heal ourfrail or shattered life and encourage us to start a new life. In choosing tofollow this, one can already embrace a new life and grow to be mature in thelove of Christ. On the basis of that love and especially in the nameof the Lord Jesus Christ, the apostles of Jesus held a council of the earlyChurch's leaders in Jerusalem, with the aim to strengthen the vision andmission of the newly established Church. They discussed, debated and evendisagreed over certain different ideas found. But for the sake of the only andholy Church, they came out with a solution from the guidance of the HolySpirit, which was to work together in the building up the Church and continued tospread it throughout the world. Let us renew our commitment to Jesus by saying His ownwords: Stay always in my love! We must not reject it, but we happily welcomeit. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... Almighty God, may Your love reign in ourlives, and we gladly welcome the invitation of Jesus Your Son that we are happyto stay in His love. Jaminan tinggal bersama Dia ialahkehidupan yang dapat menghasilkan buah berlimpah sehingga mendatangkan sukacita, kebahagiaan dan keselamatan. Para rasul-Nya yang mendengar langsungpengajaran ini telah membuktikan dirinya tinggal bersama Yesus dan berbuahsebagai saksi-saksi utama Tuhan Yesus Kristus kepada seluruh dunia, menjadipewarta Injil yang sejati. Untuk mewujudkan karya keselamatan sesuai dengan kehendak Bapa, Yesusmengundang mereka yang mengikuti dan percaya kepada-Nya untuk hidup di dalamDia. Hidup di dalam Dia membuat kita menikmati kasih-Nya yang amat besar danabadi. Kita menanggapi undangan dan jaminan dari Yesus dengan iman kita bahwakita siap, kita mau dan kita rindu untuk tinggal di dalam Dia. Di dalamkesibukan setiap hari dari pagi sampai malam, undangan ini akan selalu sangatmenggembirakan kita. Bagi mereka yang selalu menghayati dengan tulus kasihTuhan, undangan Yesus ini menjadi suatu bonus tersendiri bagi mereka.  Misalnya, satu keluarga yang selalu hidup dalam damai, harmoni, dan penuhcinta, ketika menerima undangan ini, mereka tentu saja mengalami suatu  pertumbuhan iman yang menggembirakan.Sebaliknya, suatu keluarga atau pribadi yang tidak atau sulit mengalami kasihdi dalam hidupnya, undangan dan jaminan Tuhan Yesus ini harus merupakaninisiatif Ilahi yang hendak membawa mereka kembali kepada Tuhan, dalam pelukankasih-Nya yang sangat indah.  Mereka tidak usah malu, tidak perlu takut atau harus menghindari rasa kurangpercaya, karena yang mengundang dan memberikan jaminan adalah Tuhan sendiri.Mereka harus yakin bahwa cinta kasih Tuhan jauh lebih kuat dan pastimengalahkan semua kekurangan manusiawi tersebut. Cinta kasih Tuhan dapatmenyembuhkan dan memberikan semangat untuk memulai hidup yang baru. Atas dasar cinta kasih itu dan terutama dalam nama Tuhan Yesus Kristus,misalnya para rasul membuat konsili di Yerusalem, untuk memperkuat satuvisi-misi yang bersumber pada Yesus Kristus saja. Mereka berdiskusi, berdebatdan berselisih atas perbedaan-perbedaan yang ditemukan. Karena alasan cintakasih, mereka mencapai solusi dalam terang Roh Kudus, lalu sampailah merekapada keputusan yang memberikan keuntungan bagi Gereja.  Marilah kita mengulangi lagi undangan Yesus tersebut: Tinggallah di dalamkasih-Ku. Kita tidak boleh menolaknya, tetapi dengan gembira menyambutnya! Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa ... In this Easter season, besides we have interesting themes on "theBread of Life" and "the Good Shepherd", we have also anothervery interesting theme, which is "the True Vine". The Lord Jesusreveals His identity through various symbols or images, and one of them is thetrue vine. In essence, God Himself always unites with His peopleand grants His precious gifts to every believer. Thus, we as individuals andthe community of God's people too, can pursue our lives on this world accordingto His plan, by using all the gifts we have and make them bear fruits. Thetrue vine is an appropriate symbol to teach us in this point of our reflection.Jesus is the true vine, we are its branches, and the Father in heaven is theowner. The fact that there are always differentunderstandings and attitudes among the people in the Church, it is part of thedynamic of the branches which are often shaken because of wind and rain. Thesedifferences or maybe criticisms and protests from within will not ruin the lifeof this Holy Church because there is the vine, which is the Lord Jesus Christas the only head and leader who protects it. All problems are directed to findtheir solutions in Jesus Christ alone. So instead of bothering ourselves with thedifferences, it is more important to give our attention to the abundance offruits as the outcome of our life in Jesus Christ, from which we strengthen theunity among the believers and enrich one another with the love of the Lord.These fruits certainly sustain our journey of faith. First is the fruit ofholiness and evangelization. We as individuals and the People of God or theChurch professes that holiness is our goal. We want to see ourselves that thisgift of holiness is also reaching out others through our works ofevangelization. Second is the fruit of will and courage to removethose branches that are already dry and useless, to be gathered and burned.This is the fruit of correction, improvement, repentance and renewal ofoneself. Third is the fruit of opportunity for growth and the new life ofpersonal and community achieved after the process of correction or renewal.Fourth is the fruit of happiness and thankfulness for being connected withJesus as the true vine, because apart from Him will be very dangerous for us. Fifth is the fruit of becoming one always with Jesusand we will be abundant. The fruits will never come from other trees, exceptfrom Jesus Christ our true vine. Sixth, we therefore, have a valid reason toalways praise and glorify our God and Father. Seventh is the fruit of ourdignity as sons and daughters of the Father as a very special and precioushonor for us. Eighth is the fruit mission, which is our duties as persons sentby God to go and to produce many fruits. And ninth is the fruit of patience-endurancethat will be the cloth we wear when we encounter difficulties and sufferings. Let'spray. O Lord, make us always able to bear fruits that can benefit us and alsoour neighbors. Our Father who art in heaven... In the name of the Father ...

Didalam masa Paskah, selain tema tentang roti hidup dan gembala yang baik, adajuga yang sangat menarik ialah tentang pokok anggur. Tuhan Yesus menjelaskanidentitas diri-Nya dengan aneka simbol, dan salah satunya ialah pokok anggur.                                        Intinya, Tuhan sendiri senantiasa menyatu dengan umat-Nya dan memenuhisetiap orang beriman dengan segala karunia-Nya. Dengan demikian sebagai pribadimaupun sebagai umat Allah, kita dapat melangsungkan hidup di dunia ini sesuaidengan rencana-Nya. Simbol yang pas untuk mengajarkan hal ini ialah pokokanggur. Yesus adalah pokok anggur itu, kita adalah setiap rantingnya, dan Bapadi surga sebagai pemilik.  Bahwa di dalam Gereja selalu ada perbedaan pemahaman iman, itu merupakandinamika hidup ranting-ranting yang sering bergesekkan karena terpaan angin dantimpahan air hujan. Perbedaan-perbedaan itu tidak mungkin merusak kehidupan karenapokok anggur, yaitu Yesus Kristus hanyalah satu. Semua perbedaan pemahamanpasti akan menemukan solusi pada Yesus Kristus saja. Jadi dari pada fokus ke perbedaan-perbedaan, yang lebih utama ialahperhatian kepada buah-buah sebagai hasil kehidupan di dalam Yesus Kristus yangpasti akan mempersatukan dan memajukan kita bersama. Buah-buah ini tentu sangatberguna bagi hidup iman kita. Buah pertama ialah kesucian dan evangelisasi.Kita sebagai pribadi dan umat Allah mengakui kalau kesucian itu adalah cita-citakita. Kita ingin melihat sendiri bahwa kesucian dari Tuhan itu diterima juga olehorang lain melalui kegiatan evangelisasi yang kita lakukan.  Kedua ialah kemauan dan keberanian untuk memangkas bagian ranting, yaitupola hidup yang kering dan tak berguna, dibuang dan dibakar. Ini adalah buahkoreksi, perbaikan, pertobatan dan pembaharuan diri. Ketiga ialah kesempatanterbuka lebar untuk tumbuh dan menjadi pribadi atau komunitas yang baru setelahdilakukan koreksi dan pembaharuan. Keempat, oleh karena itu kita tentu sangatbahagia untuk selalu terhubung dengan Yesus sebagai pokok anggur, karenaterlepas dari Dia akan sangat berbahaya bagi kita.  Kelima, jika senantiasa menyatu dengan Yesus, kita bakal berbuah melimpah.Buah-buah itu tidak mungkin berasal dari pohon lain, selain Yesus Kristussendiri. Keenam, dengan demikian kita mempunyai alasan dasar untuk selalumemuji dan memuliakan Allah dan Bapa kita. Ketujuh, martabat kita sebagai putra-putriBapa merupakan kedudukan sangat istimewa dan terhormat. Kedelapan, maka itukita diutus oleh Tuhan untuk pergi dan menghasilkan buah-buah yang berguna, dankesembilan, tidak hanya berbuah tetapi kita mesti mampu bertahan dalam segalabentuk kesulitan dan penderitaan. Marilah kita berdoa. YaTuhan, buatlah kami selalu dapat berbuah dalam kasih persaudaraan dan pelayanankasih sebagai cara kami melakukan kehendak-Mu, yang berguna bagi kami dansesama kami. Bapa kami yang ada di surga ... Jesus Christ had experienced onearth the various forms of human suffering as a consequence of sin and evil ofthis world. To face all these, He did not fight back with His divine authoritywhich was of course more powerful, instead He accepted them with calm, and Heforgave and prayed for those who opposed and persecuted Him. He fought this world power with peace as the weaponthat He got from His divine power. His followers, those from His own family ofNazareth, the apostles and people of every generation, are prepared in such away to be able to experience all forms suffering that He Himself had alreadyexperienced. The apostles proved that they were ready to face all kinds ofsuffering and they had no fear at all, because the weapon of peace was far morepowerful than any other weapons. Paul and Barnabas did the same thing when theybuilt and strengthened the existence of the Church from one place to another. The Church and the followers of Christ in all placesand times now also realize that what Jesus had said before is proved true,namely the cup of suffering He had drunk, is also drunk by His followers. Thesame weapon of peace is still useful, and the famous phrase always recited bythe celebrant priest in the Holy Mass confirms the efficacy of thisweapon, as it goes "Peace I leavewith you, my peace I give you." Jesus Christ gives us His own peace as the powerfulweapon that we should use, and the best moment to use it is when we are underpressure, danger and threat of any form. Jesus had prepared us with thisstrategy. He already knew what would happen to each of His followers who willundergo various difficulties and sufferings. Even though Christians show kindness in their testimonyof faith and bring truth in their words and deeds, all are manifested on behalf of Jesus' name,they will still face kinds of rejection and opposition. The reason for this isbecause Jesus's love and truth are very much in conflict with the culture andstyle of people of this world that have been infected by sin and evil. ButJesus and His followers do not give up and fear. The cross must indeed be takenup and not condemned or thrown away. After bearing the cross we will achievevictory. There is resurrection and new life. So, we must be grateful and full of hope because JesusChrist already prepared us to face the worst situation in the world, as Heequipped us with the weapon of peace from Himself. Imagine if he armed us withswords or guns, it could be happened that our profile as Christians today mightbe the worst in the world. The peace of Jesus is actually very useful forwinning souls for God. This is where the real victory to be our reward. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... YesusKristus ketika berada di dunia telah mengalami aneka bentuk penderitaanmanusiawi sebagai akibat dari dosa dan kejahatan manusia. Berhadapan dengansemua itu, Ia tidak melawan tetapi justru menerima dengan tenang, mengampunidan mendoakan mereka yang melawan atau menganiayai Dia. Ia melawan itu dengan senjata damai dari Bapa-Nya. Para pengikut-Nya, mulaidari para rasul sampai ke generasi kita saat ini, disiapkan dengan sedemikianrupa untuk dapat mengalami segala bentuk penderitaan yang sudah Ia alami. Pararasul terbukti siap menghadapi semuanya dan mereka tidak gentar apa pun, karenasenjata damai jauh lebih kuat dari pada senjata apa pun. Paulus dan Barnabasmenunjukkan itu ketika mereka membangun dan memperkuat eksistensi Gereja darisatu tempat ke tempat yang lain. Gereja dan pengikut Kristus di segala tempat dan zaman hingga saat ini jugamenyadari bahwa prediksi Yesus tidak meleset, yaitu bahwa piala penderitaanyang Ia telah minum, diminum juga oleh para pengikut-Nya. Senjata damai yangsama tetap dipakai, dan kalimat terkenal yang selalu diulangi dalam perayaanEkaristi menegaskan keampuhan senjata itu, “Damai Kutinggalkan bagimu, damai-KuKuberikan kepadamu.” Yesus Kristus memberikan kita damai dari diri-Nya ini sebagai senjata yangsangat berguna, dan saat paling pas untuk memakainya ialah ketika kita beradadalam tekanan, bahaya dan ancaman dalam bentuk apa pun. Ia sudah menyiapkankita dengan strategi ini. Ia sudah tahu bahwa yang akan terjadi bagi setiappengikut-Nya adalah rupa-rupa kesulitan dan penderitaan.  Bahkan kebaikan dan kebenaran apa pun yang diperbuat para pengikut dalamnama-Nya, penderitaan dan kesulitan bakal mereka terima. Karena kebaikan dankebenaran Kristus sangat bertentangan dengan budaya dan gaya orang-orang didunia ini yang sudah terjangkiti oleh dosa dan kejahatan. Tetapi Yesus dan parapengikut-Nya tidak menyerah dan takut. Salib memang harus dipikul dan bukandikutuk atau dibuang. Setelah salib ada kemenangan. Anda kebangkitan.  Jadi kita mesti bersyukur dan merasa beruntung karena Yesus Kristus telah mempersiapkankita untuk menghadapi situasi terburuk di dunia ini, mempersenjatai kita dengandamai dari diri-Nya sendiri. Bayangkan jika ia mempersenjatai kita denganpedang atau senapan,  bisa jadi profil kitasebagai Kristen saat ini mungkin menjadi yang terburuk di dunia. Damai dariYesus justru berguna untuk memenangkan jiwa-jiwa bagi Tuhan. There was a husband and his wife often quarrel each other overhow to educate and raise their two children who were still in grade 4 and 1elementary school. The wife wanted thechildren to be smart and intelligent. They must take seriously extra tutorial learnings outside the school hours. Forher, the excellent people are the successful ones. But the husband was notconcerned with intelligence. He preferred his children to be diligent in theirlearnings and their daily activities. To such situations like this one, the Lord JesusChrist especially through the Gospel of today tells us that diligence is morenecessary. Jesus says that the Holy Spirit sent to us is our Comforter andTeacher. And we who are guided by the Holy Spirit are children or disciples whomust diligently follow and learn under His guidance. We are not encouraged to be smart and intelligentpeople as the Holy Spirit teaches us. Because if we all become smart andintelligent, many of us might want to compete the Holy Spirit, or even the HolySpirit Himself is confused to guide and teach us one by one. So, the virtue that is more important for us accordingto the scripture readings today is diligence or perseverance, rather thatintelligence or excellence. The life of the Early Church proved that theapostles were not smart and intelligent people. But because they were diligentand committed to Jesus Christ, the true Master, they became capable, mature and qualified in all knowledge and wisdomabout Jesus Christ and His teachings. Paul and Barnabas determined to fully commit to JesusChrist and His gospel even though they were dealing with intelligent and verycritical persons from various cultural backgrounds that were totally differentfrom the Christianity. Their perseverance and Christian commitment were so firmin their testimonies, so as to convince all newly baptized Christians to reallybelieve that through diligence and perseverance as Christians their success infaith was a gain. Diligence must start from oneself because in it thereis a will to achieve the goal expected. Through a combination of hard work,focus and passion, one can achieve the desired result. Those who are good inmathematics have their beginnings and stories of much labor and pain in thisfield. A soccer player has pursued from the simplest techniques along withongoing physical training with a lot of sacrifices before he becomes a greatplayer. Likewise, if we commit ourselves as diligent sons anddaughters of God in our following of Jesus Christ, the Son of God, we willsucceed in enjoying what Jesus says today, which is to occupy a place in theFather's house in heaven that has been provided for each one of us. Let'spray. Ada suamidan istri sering bertengkar soal bagaimana mendidik dan membesarkan kedua anakmereka yang masih kelas 4 dan 1 SD. Istri ingin supaya kedua anak ini cerdasdan pandai maka les tambahan di luar jam sekolah diikuti dengan serius. Yang iakejar ialah kepandaian kedua anaknya. Sementara suami tidak terlalu mementingkankecerdasan, tetapi ia lebih menginginkan anak-anaknya tekun. Menghadapi persoalan seperti ini, Tuhan Yesus Kristus terutama melalui Injilpada hari ini akan berkata bahwa ketekunan-lah yang lebih diperlukan. Yesusberkata bahwa Roh Kudus yang akan diutus-Nya adalah penghibur dan guru kita.Dan kita yang dibimbing oleh Roh Kudus adalah anak-anak atau murid-murid yangmesti tekun mengikuti dan belajar di bawah bimbingan-Nya. Kita bukan bercita-cita menjadi orang pandai dan cerdas bersama Roh Kudus.Sebab kalau kita semua ini menjadi cerdas dan pandai, bisa jadi banyak  di antara kita ingin menyaingi Roh Kudus,atau bahkan Roh Kudus menjadi bingung untuk membimbing dan mengajari kita satuper satu. Jadi keutamaan yang penting sekali bagi kita ialah ketekunan, dan bukankepandaian atau kecerdasan. Pengalaman hidup Gereja Perdana membuktikan bahwapara rasul itu bukan orang pandai dan cerdas. Tetapi karena mereka tekun danberkomitmen kepada Yesus Kristus mereka menjadi mampu, matang dan menguasaisemua ilmu tentang Yesus Kristus.  Paulus dan Barnabas tekun untuk teguh kepada Yesus Kristus dan Injil-Nyabiarpun mereka berhadapan dengan orang-orang pandai dan cerdas dari kultur yangberbeda sama sekali dari mereka. Mereka hadirkan ketekunan sebagai bentuk kesaksianyang sangat kuat, supaya meyakinkan semua orang Kristen yang baru dibaptisbahwa hanya ketekunan dalam iman yang bisa membuat mereka bertahan dan bisamembela imannya. Ketekunan itu harus mulai dari diri sendiri karena ada kemauan untukmencapai suatu tujuan yang baik dan benar. Melalui kombinasi kerajinan, fokus dan semangat, seseorang dapatmencapai hasil yang diinginkan. Orang yang pandai matematika karena ia pernahdan terus menerus menekuni bidang itu. Seorang atlet sepak bola menekuni teknikpaling sederhana seiring dengan latihan fisik yang terus-menerus sampai menjadiseorang pemain hebat.  Demikian juga jika kita menekuni diri kita sebagai putra dan putri Allah,kita bakal berhasil menikmati apa yang dikatakan oleh Yesus, yaitu mendudukitempat di rumah Bapa di surga yang telah disediakan bagi kita masing-masing. Marilah kita berdoa. One Sunday morning, a priest waspreparing to celebrate Mass at a parish 20 kilometers from where he lived inthe city. He drove along a winding road at a speed of between 60 and 80 km perhour. However, when he was only 3 kilometers from the church, the road leadingto the parish church was closed. A community service activity was being held bythe local people. All vehicles had to take an alternate route.  The time for the celebration of Holy Mass was only 20minutes left. He had to find a way, even if it was just the size of the car topass, so that he would soon reach the church. At first he was nervous and didnot know what to do. But he soon realized that GPS (navigation) on hishandphone could help. He set the GPS to direct him to the location of thechurch. In less than 10 minutes he was in the church parking lot, just in timefor an immediate preparation in the sacristy and the Holy Mass would soon start. Like the GPS that directs us the way by using thesound, sign of road directions, warnings and notifications that we really need,the GPS in the journey of our faith also does the same job. The GPS in ourfaith is the Lord Jesus Christ. He testifies His own identity as the path orthe way we must take in order to reach our goal, namely our salvation and unitywith heavenly Father. As the way for us, He gives us the truth which is a realityand fullness of life in Him. Our perfect life is in heaven.  The Word of the Lord today gives us at least tworeflections on the fundamental truth that we have in our faith, which is therevelation of Jesus Himself as our way. The first reflection highlights thatJesus Christ is our savior. In the midst of many dangers and difficulties thatthreaten our lives, He becomes the solution and answer to save us fromdestruction and death. What happened in the First Church in Jerusalem was adivision among the members and discrimination of the Jews and those of the nonJewish groups. But the power of the Lord came to save the Church that was inthe brink of falling apart, through theestablishment of the ministry of deacon. There were seven deacons elected andwere entrusted to help the apostles in the whole services of the Church. The second reflection is about the Lord Jesus gives usa precious dignity, namely a calling to holiness. He blesses us and makes us asacred spiritual house and a holy priesthood. In this way, we receive from Hima great task to sanctify the world. Together with Him, we will bring this worldand all creation through the path of Jesus Christ that leads all to the Father.The way of holiness is first of all for each one's salvation, then also forthose whom we serve in our respective works and missions. Let'spray. Pada suatu hariMinggu pagi, seorang pastor bersiap untuk merayakan Misa di salah satu parokiyang berjarak 20 kilometer dari tempat ia tinggal di kota. Ia menyetir mobilmelewati jalan yang bekelok-kelok dengan kecepatan antara 60-80 km per jam.Tetapi pada saat tinggal 3 kilometer sampai di gereja , jalan yang menujugereja paroki ditutup. Ada kegiatan bakti sosial yang dilakukan oleh wargamasyarakat setempat. Semua kendaraan harus memilih jalan lain.                                                                     Waktu untuk perayaan Misa tinggal20 menit. Ia harus mencari jalan lain, biarpun yang berukuran pas untukdilewati mobil, agar segera sampai di gereja. Awalnya ia  kehabisan akal dan tidak tahu harus berbuat.Tetapi ia segera menyadari bahwa GPS (navigasi) di handphone dapat membantu. Iamenyetel GPS untuk mengarahkannya ke gereja. Dalam waktu kurang dari 10 menit iasudah berada di halaman parkir gereja, tepat waktunya untuk persiapan diri disakristi dan Misa akan segera dimulai. Ibarat GPS yang mengarahkan kitajalan dengan memakai suara, grafik arah jalan, peringatan dan pemberitahuanyang kita perlukan, GPS di dalam perjalanan iman kita juga melakukan pekerjaanyang sama. GPS dalam iman kita ialah Tuhan Yesus Kristus. Ia menyebutkanidentitas diri-Nya sebagai jalan yang kita lalui untuk sampai kepada tujuankita, yaitu keselamatan dan persatuan kita dengan Bapa di surga. Sebagai jalanbagi kita, Ia memberikan kita kebenaran yang menjadi makanan utama kita supayakita memiliki kehidupan yang sesungguhnya dan sepenuhnya. Kehidupan yangsempurna ialah di surga. Firman Tuhan hari ini palingkurang memberikan kita dua refleksi betapa fundamentalnya pendasaran iman kitapada Tuhan Yesus sebagai jalan kita. Pertama ialah Tuhan Yesus Kristus sebagaipenyelamat kita. Di tengah bahaya dan kesulitan yang menimpah hidup kita, Iamenjadi solusi dan jawaban sehingga kita tidak dapat binasa dan mati. Kejadiandi dalam Gereja Perdana di Yerusalem, adalah perpecahan di antara paraanggotanya. Tapi kuasa Allah datang untuk menyelamatkan Gereja denganditetapkannya enam orang diakon. Kedua ialah Tuhan Yesusmemberikan kita martabat yang tinggi, yaitu panggilan menjadi kudus. Iamerahmati kita sebagai bangunan rohani yang suci dan suatu imamat yang kudus.Dengan begitu, kita menerima dari-Nya tugas besar untuk menguduskan dunia.Bersama dengan Dia, kita akan membawa dunia ini dan segala ciptaan melaluijalan Yesus Kristus yang menuju kepada Bapa. Jalan kekudusan pertama-tamaberguna bagi kita sendiri, kemudian berguna juga bagi orang-orang yang kitalayani di dalam perutusan kita masing-masing. Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa ... Our meditation yesterday showed the lack ofunderstanding of the apostle Thomas on the true identity of Jesus Christ, towhich Jesus resolved the problem by revealing Himself as our only mediator toGod the Father. Today, the apostle Philip, who represents many people, showsanother type of lack of understanding,that is the question on the identity of the heavenly Father. The answer of Jesus is the most decisive or the keyanswer to this problem, because it shows the purpose of all our searches andefforts of our journey on earth. Jesus reveals the existence of the heavenlyFather whom He represents because the Father actually embodies in the person ofJesus. That is why, He says in this testimony: "Whoever has seen me hasseen the Father." This also means that hearing Jesus is hearing theFather, living with Jesus is living with the Father. In essence, we believethat the Father exists and works in Jesus. The Father and the Son Jesus areone. The unity of the Father and the Son takes place in arelationship of love through communication between them, and this relationshipis known as the Holy Spirit itself. So, the answer given to Philip and all thosewho seek to find the ultimate purpose of life is actually the Trinity, the trueand final identity of God. There is no better or greater answer than this one. Tomeet and live with the Father in Jesus Christ, and in unity of the Holy Spirithad become the commitment of the apostels, and they persevered it until death. Jesus shows us the heavenly Father with the purpose ofmaking us know the reality of God as He is. God comes to our knowledge throughall works of love, kindness and compassion, while we humans are taken up byJesus Christ to the level where we can encounter the Father. At the moment ofincarnation, the Trinity was present in the Son conceived in the womb of theVirgin Mary, born and was under the care of the modest family of Nazareth.Throughout the public ministry of Jesus, the Trinity was also there to work forour redemption. At the end of our journey in the world, the Trinity in heavenwelcomes us for eternal life, the best reward already awaiting us. For us the followers of Christ, such questions fromPhilip and Thomas are not supposed to be our questions too. We are not in theposition to question or even doubt whether Jesus and the Father are one. Ourposition is actually what Jesus had determined when He was still on earth.Jesus had made us His brothers and sisters; therefore, He taught us His ownprayer the "Our Father" to be our basic prayer. Yesus menjawab dengan menghadirkan Bapa sendiri, maka Ia berkata begini: melihatAku, berarti melihat Bapa, mendengar Aku, berarti mendengar Bapa, hidup bersamaAku berarti hidup bersama Bapa. Ini gunanya supaya semua menjadi tahu danpercaya bahwa Bapa berada di dalam Aku dan Aku di dalam Bapa. Bapa dan Akuadalah satu. Persekutuan Bapa dan Putra itu terjadi dalam hubungan kasih dengankomunikasi di antara mereka, dan hubungan ini terjadi di dalam Roh Kudus. Justrujawaban yang diberikan kepada Filipus dan semua orang yang mencari tujuanterakhir hidup ini ialah Tritunggal Allah. Tak ada jawaban lain lagi yangmelebih jawaban ini. Berjumpa Bapa dalam diri Yesus dan dalam persekutuan RohKudus telah mempertegas komitmen para rasul, dan mereka bertahan dengankomitmen itu sampai mati. Yesus menghadirkan Bapa kepada kita berarti tentang kenyataan Tuhan Allahsesungguhnya. Tuhan tampak dengan segala kemurahan dan belas kasih, sementarakita manusia tampak terangkat sampai pada level untuk berjumpa dengan Dia. Saatinkarnasi, Tritunggal hadir dalam Putra yang dikandung dalam rahim PerawanMaria, dilahirkan dan diasuh dalam sebuah keluarga bersahaja. Dalam seluruhpelayanan publik Yesus, Tritunggal juga ada di sana untuk bekerja bagipenebusan umat manusia. Di penghujung karya di dunia, Tritunggal di surgamenyambut kita dalam kehidupan abadi sebagai tanda keselamatan kekal yang sudahtersedia abadi bagi kita. Bagi kita sebagai pengikut Kristus, pertanyaan seperti Filipus dan Thomassepatutnya tidak relevan. Kita bukan dalam posisi untuk mempertanyakan bahkanmeragukan apakah Yesus dan Bapa adalah satu. Posisi kita sesungguhnya adalahsaudara dan saudari Yesus, atas dasar itulah kita diajarkan doa “Bapa Kami”untuk menjadi doa kita yang fundamental. Doa itu sungguh menjadikan kitaanak-anak atau putra dan putri Bapa yang mahabaik. Yesus sungguh gembala yangbaik, karena Dia tahu yang kita butuhkan: menjadi putra-putri kesayangan Bapadi Surga.Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... Acts of the Apostles 13: 26-33; Rs psalm 2: 6-7.8-9.10-11; John 14: 1-6.THE SHEPHERD MAKES US COMFORTABLE AND FEEL AT HOME Our meditation today has the theme: The Shepherd MakesUs Comfortable and Feel at Home. When someone feels comfortable, he enjoys aninterpersonal relationship that he engages. When he feels at home, he enjoysand feels at peace with the situation that he is in. He feels at home with thethings or means he is using. For instance, you feel comfortable with friendsnear you, and at the same time you also feel at home with the place and itssituation where you find yourself. The Lord Jesus our good Shepherd comforts and makes usfeel at home in this sense. Jesus makes us comfortable with Him and with ourfellow men and women. Jesus makes us feel at home in His house, which is theChurch, family and group. His teachings and commands sometimes can be sodemanding, but we are happy with them. Today Jesus speaks to us about thisconviction, as He says: "Do not let your hearts be troubled, you havefaith in God, have faith also in me". He simply tells us that as we arewith Him and the Father, we must feel comfortable and at home.                                                                                                                                        But not everyone thinks that they feel comfortable andat home with Jesus Christ. There are people who don't understand Himimmediately when He speaks. There are always different interpretations to Histeachings and wills. For example, the apostle Thomas asked Him, "Show meproof of what You are saying"! Then Jesus said: "I am the way, thetruth and the life". This affirmation of Jesus is enough to give usassurance to be always comfortable with Jesus and feel at home with Histeaching. Jesus gave the power to the servants of the Church tocreate in the Church the spirit of one community of the People of God, wheneveryone may feel comfort in it and at peace with fellow brothers and sisters.Together with Saint Peter on the same level of teaching authority, Saint Paulpreached the same truth about Jesus Christ. Many other apostles and disciplesof Jesus also did the same thing. This truly brought comfort and feeling athome to all listeners, especially the non-Jewish people who were very criticaland skeptical about religion and faith. They therefore, could accept SaintPaul's teachings and eventually chose to become the followers of Christ. Then the question for us would be this: Who is themost responsible to provide comfort and feeling at home? It is not the Lord inthe first place nor leaders of the Church, nor any person with good reputationin faith. Honestly speaking, they always give you kindness and love. So, tofeel comfortable and at home is not their first concern. The one who mustcreate it is every individual, each one us.  This parable might be useful to understand what we aresaying. We are not in the position whether to reject or accept our own parents.They are truly God's gift to us. But about feeling comfortable with one's ownfather and mother, that is one's own responsibility. We must create it. To feelat home and comfortable with God and the Church is our own responsibility. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... Sedangkan rasa betah kita lebih terkait dengan suasanadi sekeliling dan hal atau barang yang kita pakai. Misalnya Anda merasa nyamandengan teman-teman di dekatmu, dan pada saat yang sama Anda juga betah dengan suasanakerja sama dan lingkungannya yang tenang. Tuhan Yesus sebagai gembala yang baik memberikan kita rasa nyaman dan betahdalam pengertian seperti itu. Yesus membuat kita nyaman bersama Dia dan sesamaorang beriman. Yesus membuat kita betah berada di dalam rumah-Nya, yaituGereja, juga dengan semua pengajaran dan perintah-Nya. Ungkapan yang sangat pasuntuk ini ialah yang dikatakan Yesus pada hari ini: jangan gelisah hatimu,percayalah kepada Allah, percayalah kepada-Ku. Bersama Bapa-Ku dan Aku, semuapasti menjadi betah dan nyaman. Tetapi tidak semua orang sepikiran tentang menjadi nyaman dan betah di dalamKristus. Ada orang yang tidak langsung paham. Selalu ada interpretasi yangberbeda. Misalnya rasul Thomas bertanya, tunjukkan dong seperti apa? Lalu Yesus berkata: Aku adalah jalan, kebenarandan kehidupan. Penegasan ini sudah cukup untuk memperkuat rasa nyaman dan betahkita bersama dengan Dia. Yesus memberikan kuasa kepada para pelayan Gereja untuk memberikan rasanyaman dan betah ini bagi setiap Umat Allah. Seperti Petrus, Santo Paulus jugaberdiri pada level otoritas pengajaran yang sama, berkotbah tentang semuakebenaran dalam Yesus Kristus. Ini sungguh memberikan rasa nyaman dan betahbagi semua pendengarnya, terutama kaum non-Yahudi yang belum percaya yangsangat kritis dan skeptis. Mereka bisa menerima pengajaran Paulus dan akhirnyamemilih untuk menjadi pengikut Kristus. Lalu pertanyaannya ialah, siapakah yang paling bertanggung jawab denganrasa nyaman dan betah ini? Yang jelas bukan Tuhan dan para pemimpin Gereja yangbertanggung jawab. Mereka memberikan perhatian dan kasih sayang atas nama cinta.Menjadi nyaman dan betah bukan pertama-tama urusan mereka. Jadi rasa nyaman danbetah itu harus pertama-tama diciptakan oleh kita masing-masing.  Hal ini sama dengan kenyataan bahwa bukan urusan kita untuk menolak ataumenerima bapa dan ibu kita. Mereka adalah karunia Tuhan bagi kitamasing-masing. Tapi hal tentang rasa nyaman dengan bapa dan ibu sendiri, ituadalah tanggung jawab kita sendiri. Anda dan saya harus menciptakannya. Rasabetah dan nyaman dengan Tuhan dan Gereja merupakan tanggung jawab kita sendiri. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa ... Acts of the Apostles 13: 13-25; Rs psalm 89: 2-3.21-22.25.27; John 13: 16-20.THE GOOD SHEPHERD ENLIGHTENS UNDERSTANDING Our meditation today has the theme: The Good ShepherdEnlightens Understanding. Jesus Christ our Shepherd illuminates the world andour hearts with His word. If the word only reaches our ears and stops there,the work of evangelization is still just halfway. From listening, our nextability should be that of understanding. God makes us able to understand Him inthe words that we read and meditate daily. From the moment of baptism, we have been filled withthe Holy Spirit and through the Sacrament of Confirmation we are anointed withthe fullness of His gifts. One of them is the gift of understanding. In today'sGospel the Lord Jesus, the good Shepherd, teaches us that by understanding Histeaching we are blessed. He pleases with those who not only listen, but alsounderstand. Because through a proper understanding, a human attitude is madeand from there follows one's behavior or action. This does not mean that there is no understanding inevery human person, group of people or culture. But we often have problem inthis matter.  The fact is that humanunderstanding is not perfect. There is always different understanding from oneperson to another in seeing and understanding something or someone. We normallyneed discussion or debate to find a common understanding that is accepted byall. With regards to the teaching of faith, lack of understanding on the wholeor part of it and misinterpretations over its truth often bring us trouble,even to point of conflict or violence among the persons who have faith in thesame God. This is truly the experience of Saint Paul. Heexperienced how Jesus renewed his way of life and gave new understanding on thefollowing of Christ. Now it was Paul's turn to enlighten the minds andunderstandings of people who didn't know anything about Jesus Christ. We oftenexperience how easy to make someone from not knowing anything to know somethingnew about an understanding that we teach or transmit. But it will be so hardand impossible to teach new understanding to those who already have their own standof belief. Saint Paul had all these kinds of experience. Our understanding of Jesus Christ and the Christianfaith must be the foundation for our journey of faith from baptism until ourdeath. But there is a further duty to do, about the renewal and enrichment ofour understanding of Jesus Christ and His teachings. Maybe this idea is verysimple, but who knows it can be very useful. Students must read one textbookten times that when they do the exam, they will find it easy and enjoyable. Butwhen they read ten textbooks only once, surely, they will find it hard in theexam. It is the same for us as we do with Jesus Christ and His teachings. Let us teach each other to develop our understandingof faith. For those who have better understanding, teach those who haven't.Those who have poor understanding, ask for in those who have more. Let'spray. In the name of the Father ... Sang Gembala Yesus Kristus menerangidunia dan hati kita dengan firman-Nya. Jika firman itu hanya sampai padatelinga manusia, pekerjaan evangelisasi itu dianggap masih sangat mentah. Darimendengar, kemampuan kita perlu berkembang sampai pada pengertian. Tuhan terusberperan membuat kita mengerti Dia, yaitu melalui firman-Nya yang disampaikanitu.  Sejak pembaptisan kita dicurahkan Roh Kudus dan melalui Sakramen Penguatankita diurapi kepenuhannya. Salah satu karunia yang diberikan kepada kita ialah karuniapengertian. Di dalam Injil pada hari ini Tuhan Yesus gembala yang baikmengajarkan kita bahwa dengan mengerti pengajaran-Nya kita menjadi orang-orangyang terberkati. Ia sangat berkenan kepada orang-orang yang tidak hanyamendengarkan, tetapi juga mengerti. Sebab melalui pengertian itulah sikap orangterbentuk dan dari sana ia mulai bersikap dan bertindak.  Tidak berarti bahwa tak ada sama sekali pengertian pada setiap manusia,kelompok orang atau sebuah kultur. Yang sering menjadi soal ialah bahwapengertian manusia terbatas dan cenderung berbeda-beda  atas sesuatu hal. Apalagi dalam soal ajaraniman tertentu, bahaya kurang pengertian dan penafsiran yang berbeda-beda seringberakibat pada konflik sosial di antara kita.  Hal ini sungguh menjadi pengalaman Santo Paulus. Ia mengalami bagaimanaYesus membuat pemikiran dan pengertiannya menjadi baru. Kini giliran Paulusyang mencerahkan pikiran dan pengertian orang-orang yang belum tahu apa-apatentang Yesus Kristus. Sering urusan menjelaskan orang-orang dari tidak tahuuntuk mendapatkan suatu pengertian dasar akan suatu ajaran baru menjadi tugasyang lebih muda. Sedangkan memberikan pemahaman kepada orang-orang yang sudah mempunyaipemikiran sendiri akan menjadi lebih sulit.  Bagi kita, pengertian tentang Tuhan Yesus Kristus dan segala hal mengenaiiman kita memang sudah ada dengan ukuran berbeda-beda dari seorang ke oranglain. Tetapi urusan mencerahkan atau menyegarkan pengertian itu merupakan suatuhal yang lain. Lalu bagaimana caranya? Mungkin usulan ini sangatlah sederhana,tapi siapa tahu bisa sangat berguna. Anak sekolah harus membaca satu bukupelajaran sepuluh kali untuk bisa hadapi ujian, daripada membaca sepuluh bukusatu kali saja. Maka hal yang sama, kita mesti bertemu dan belajar pada Yesusberulang-ulang dan banyak kali. Tidak efektif kalau hanya sesekali atau jarang. Hendaklah kita saling mengajarkan untuk mengembangkan pengertian di antarakita. Bagi yang lebih mengerti, usahakan untuk mengajarkan yang belum. Yangbelum mengerti hendaknya meminta kepada mereka yang lebih mengerti. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... Ya Allah maha baik, terima kasih berlimpah atas Putera-MuYesus Kristus yang menjadi gembala yang baik bagi kami. Ajarilah kami untukmenjadi gembala yang baik seperti Dia. This sentence istaken from the responsorial psalm of today's liturgy. Yesterday we reflectedupon the reality of the presence of Catholics in all corners of the earth andhow we feel connected to each other as one flock, as followers of Jesus Christ. One way to express thisunity and connectedness among us believers is that we admit the truth that all nations of the worldpraise the same God. In the first reading, Acts of the Apostles say that word of God continuesto spread and increasingly grows inthe life of the Church. Messages, words, information of the Gospel reach theears and hearts of people faster than any high-speed machines even of the most recent technology. Even with the widespread use of today's media information and communication, thefastest reaching out of God's word to each individual's heart is undeniable. Asan outcome, not only more people are addedto the flock, but they also rely themselves daily on the Word of God. This isone of the important reasons for all nations to praise God. The fact reveals that truth about word of God reaching out to the hearts of all nations of the world, is not only the act of God. It very muchdependson the messengers,  missionaries and workers of the Lord'svineyard who tirelessly preach the Gospel. The early church indicated this reality to us, for example by sending Barnabas and Paul to a greatermission expanding beyond the boundaries of their territory. We are grateful forthe initiative of the early Church, of course thanks to the works of the Holy Spirit,to the zeal and sacrifices offered for mission and evangelization of people. The workers of the Lord's vineyard today are not onlypriests, religious men and women, whohave been recorded so well in the history of the Church. At present, we know well that there are many membersof the Church, lay persons, who are truly committed to be missionaries in everyplace of they are and work. Their testimonies are truly trustworthy anddown-to-earth because they come into direct contact with real-life situationand other people, who are interacting with them in all times. This is alsoanother important reason for all nations to praise the almighty God. Jesus Himself says that light does exist in the world.BecauseHe himself is the light, hence, darkness disappears. How can His followersnot perceive and enjoy that light, then?They should be the ones who first experience the light, then become the lightitself, and eventually enlighten this world. The most concrete form of the presence of light in our midst is the Word of the Lord, that Jesus Christ has it in the communionwith the Father in heaven. Thus,as we persevere in listening to the Word of God and live it out properly in our daily lives, we basically are the lights for this world. This is also anotherimportant reason for all of us to praise the Almighty God. Letus pray. In the name of the Father ... O Jesus Christ, help us to always be the light of thisworld through living out Your Word, after listening and pondering it. May we always come topraise God in all our lives. Kalimatini merupakan ulangan mazmur tanggapan dari liturgi pada hari ini. Kemarin kitamenyinggung tentang kenyataan kehadiran identitas Katolik di seluruh pelosokbumi dan bagaimana kita merasa terhubung satu sama lain sebagai orang-orangKatolik. Salah satu cara untuk mengungkapkan semua bentuk rasa dan koneksi ituialah bahwa seluruh bangsa di dunia memuji Tuhan.                                                                     Kisah Para Rasul dalam bacaan pertama mengatakan bahwa firman Tuhan terustersebar dan semakin menumbuhkan hidup Gereja. Pesan, kata-kata, informasisampai di telinga dan hati orang-orang lebih cepat bahkan mengalahkan kendaraanatau mesin apa pun yang berkecepatan tinggi. Sampai saat ini dengan adanyaalat-alat teknologi informasi, cepatnya jangkauan firman Tuhan memang takterbantahkan. Hasilnya, tidak hanya jauh lebih banyak orang, tetapi pentingsekali bahwa setiap pribadi manusia menerima pesan-pesan Yesus Kristus.  Ini merupakan satu alasan seluruh bangsamemuji Tuhan. Terwujudnya kenyataan bahwa firman Tuhan mencapai hati setiap manusia diseluruh dunia, sangat bergantung pada pekerja-pekerja pembawa kabar gembiraitu. Gereja Perdana menggambarkan ini misalnya dengan mengutus Barnabas danPaulus untuk suatu perutusan lebih luas dan melebar melampaui batas wilayahyang sudah ditargetkan. Kita berterima kasih atas inisiatif Gereja, tentu sajaberkat gerakan karya-karya Roh Kudus, yang selalu bersemangat dalam perutusandan evangelisasi.  Para pekerjanya tidak hanya para imam, biarawan dan biarawati yang telahmemenuhi sejarah pertumbuhan Gereja di seluruh dunia. Saat ini justru banyaksekali orang beriman awam yang bergiat sungguh-sungguh menjadi misionaris disetiap tempat hidup dan kerja mereka. Kesaksian mereka sungguh-sungguh kuat danmembumi karena mereka bersentuhan langsung dengan suasana kehidupan nyata danorang lain yang ada bersama dengan mereka setiap saat. Ini juga sebagai alasanpenting seluruh bangsa memuji Tuhan. Yesus sendiri berkata bahwa terang sungguh sudah ada di dalam dunia. KarenaIa sendiri adalah terang itu, kegelapan pun hilang. Bagaimana mungkin para pengikut-Nyajustru tidak menikmati terang itu? Mereka mestinya yang pertama mengalaminya,lalu menjadi terang itu sendiri dan pada gilirannya menerangi juga dunia ini.Bentuk paling konkret kehadiran terang itu ialah Firman Tuhan Yesus Kristusyang Ia dapatkan langsung dari Bapa di surga. Jadi, bertekun dalam Firman Tuhan dan menghidupinya secara benar merupakancara kita menerangi dunia ini. Ini juga menjadi alasan mengapa kita harusmemuji Tuhan. Marilah kita berdoa.Dalam nama Bapa... There is a nun who told the story of her dailywork in a girls' dormy. She assists and looks after the girls of the dormitorywith a relentless spirit of sacrifice. The girls go every day to differentschools and universities. She accompanies every personal girl in her human andreligious growth. She knows every girl and her family background very well. Shetreats each of the boarders as her own child and each naturally treats the nunas one's own mother.  There is another story from Stefania, a 23-year-oldyoung woman and the eldest of four siblings. Her three younger siblings arestill in college and in junior and senior high schools, while she is already working.Her parents often travel out of the city and abroad to do family business.Stefania must act as both a big sister and parent for her three youngersiblings. She makes sure to always know where her younger siblings are and whatthey are doing. Each of them also knows that their elder sister always has alook and follows them anywhere and anytime. They feel so loved by their bigsister. The nun and Stefania are the examples of the goodshepherd profile, as the Lord Jesus wants from his followers. What Jesus wantsis a shepherd who likes the smell of all his sheep, therefore, he is willing tosacrifice himself for their sake. The special value of a good shepherd wholoves the smell of all his sheep, is that God does not feel disgusted and doesnot give up with the smell of the sheep. He even likes the smell of many othersheep. There will be more different smells for sure because more sheep to bewelcomed in. In His is love and mercy, the bad smell of sheep will becomefragrant. Jesus says this in the today's Gospel, that other sheep outside thesheepfold, also need the shepherd's care. We immediately have an example fromtoday's reading. Saint Peter, the first apostle, succeeded in bringing peopleoutside the boundaries of Jewish territory to become new members of the earlyChurch. The reality about good shepherd loves the smell of thesheep has not been fully seen in the whole Church today. Pope Francis is mostlyknown for his invitation to all members of the Church to take care and help oneanother tirelessly and without discriminating against various differences ofthose served. May each of us, both clergies and lay people, both religiouspersons and people in general, always follow the way the Lord Jesus who proclaimsHimself a good shepherd for all people. All the smell of the sheep attracts usall together that we will have no regret or hesitance to help them to becomeresponsible and mature people of God. Letus pray ... In the name of the Father ... Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us withYour gift of good shepherd, that we may be good shepherds too to our neighbors,without discriminating against people's different backgrounds. Seorang Suster biarawati berceritabahwa ia menjaga dan membina anak-anak asrama dengan semangat pengorbanan yangtidak mengenal lelah. Para gadis yang tinggal di asrama pergi dan pulang darisekolah atau universitas yang berbeda-beda. Ia harus mendampingi satu per satu,supaya ia dapat mengenal mereka secara pribadi dan membina masing-masingnyasesuai dengan kepribadiannya itu. Ia memperlakukan setiap anak asrama itusebagai anak-anaknya sendiri dan mereka dengan spontan menjadikan Suster itusebagai ibu mereka sendiri.  Ada cerita lain dari Stefania, seorangpemudi 23 tahun dan sulung dari empat bersaudara. Ketiga adiknya masih kuliahdan sekolah di SMP dan SMA, sedangkan ia sendiri sudah bekerja. Kedua orangtuannya sering bepergian ke luar kota dan luar negeri karena urusan bisniskeluarga. Stefania yang harus bertindak sebagai kakak sekaligus orang tua bagiketiga adiknya. Ia memastikan diri untuk selalu mengetahui di mana adik-adiknyaberada dan apa yang sedang mereka lakukan. Setiap adiknya juga mengetahui bahwakakak mereka selalu memantau dan mengikuti mereka kapan dan di mana pun. Merekamerasa sangat disayangi oleh sang kakak. Suster biarawati dan Stefania merupakancontoh figur gembala yang baik, yang dikehendaki oleh Tuhan Yesus. Yangdiinginkan oleh Yesus ialah seorang gembala yang suka dengan bau semuadombanya, maka Ia rela berkorban bagi kebaikan mereka. Nilai spesial untukgembala yang baik yang suka bau semua dombanya, ialah bahwa Tuhan tidak jijikdan tidak menyerah dengan bau domba-domba itu. Ia malah suka dengan baudomba-domba yang lain lagi. Bau mereka yang berbeda beda itu sangat disukai dannantinya diubah menjadi harum karena kasih dan kerahiman-Nya. Yesus katakan inidalam Injil hari ini, bahwa domba-domba lain di luar kandang atau jangkauan,juga perlu mendapatkan penggembalaan-Nya. Demikian juga santo Petrus yangberhasil membawa orang-orang yang di luar batas teritori Yahudi, untuk menjadianggota Gereja Perdana. Gembala yang baik yang suka bau semuadombanya, belum realisasikan oleh seluruh Gereja. Gereja kita yang kudussenantiasa mengajak dan mengundang seluruh anggotanya, supaya menjaga danmemperhatikan satu sama lain tanpa kenal lelah dan tanpa membeda-bedakan orangyang dilayani. Semoga setiap dari kita, baik imam maupun awam, baik biarawanmaupun orang pada umumnya, semakin menjadi gembala yang diinginkan oleh TuhanYesus. Semua bau mereka mesti dapat menarik kita semua untuk semakin menyatudan membantu mereka sehingga dapat menjadi anak-anak Tuhan yang bertanggungjawab dan mandiri. Marilah kita berdoa... Dalam nama Bapa...Tuhan Yesus Kristus,perkuatkanlah kami dengan semangat-Mu sebagai gembala yang baik, semoga kamidapat menjadi gembala-gembala yang baik kepada sesama kami, dengan tanpamembeda-bedakan orang dari latar belakangnya. The difference between anauthentic and non-authentic student is on the aspects of persistence, loyalty,and productivity. Saint Mark the evangelist is classified as an authenticdisciple because he fulfilled these three criteria. He was diligent as adisciple of the Apostle Peter, faithful to the teachings of Jesus Christ, and agenuine one in the missionary journey of the early Church. Studying with agood teacher is a special experience for every student. A formative and trustedrelationship builds the foundation for true self-development and learning forthe student. The experiences of Peter and Mark sufficiently illustrate that theblessing of the Lord Jesus Christ and the guidance of the Holy Spirit hadproduced in them an ideal cooperation in carrying out the mission of the EarlyChurch. Saint Peter described this relationship by referring to Mark as his ownson. The strongfellowship between teacher and student and can be compared to parents andchild, God and human beings is basically a sort of power. Such relationship canbe likened to a powerful weapon. The benefits of this power are as described intoday's first reading of St. Peter's first letter (5, 6-14), that says aboutfighting the devil who walks around like a roaring lion looking for someone todevour, fight it with a strong faith. This is a sign of being a true discipleof Jesus. Mark had provedto be very faithful to the teachings of Jesus Christ, eventually achieving hiscalling as a gospel writer. The Spirit of Jesus Christ really worked in him,especially in inspiring him to write. The sacred tradition of the Church saysthat this Gospel is the closest to the authentic one. This actually confirmsthat the Gospel of Mark is the first gospel written, compared to the other 3Gospels. Its content is the least or the shortest, and according to traditionthe shortest writing is closer to the original. In the followingof Jesus' commission for the apostles and disciples to go all over the world toproclaim the gospel to all nations, Saint Mark took this duty seriously. Hebecame the Apostle Peter's travel companion around the world of the MiddleEast, then to Rome and the world of Europe. Tradition says that St. Peter diedas a martyr in Rome, while St. Mark explored the land of Italy and is believedto have died in northern Italy. Let's pray. In thename of the Father... Yang membedakan antara murid otentik dan yang bukan ialah ketekunan,kesetiaan, dan produktivitas. Santo Markus penginjil digolongkan dalam muridotentik karena ia memenuhi tiga kriteria tersebut. Ia tekun sebagai murid rasulPetrus, setia pada ajaran-ajaran YesusKristus, dan berproduktif dalam perjalanan misioner Gereja perdana.  Berguru kepada seorang guru yang baik merupakan pengalamanistimewa setiap murid. Relasi yang formatif dan penuh kepercayaan menumbuhkanfondasi pembentukan diri dan pembelajaran yang sesungguhnya bagi si murid.Pengalaman Petrus dan Markus cukupmenggambarkan bahwa berkat Tuhan Yesus Kristus dan bimbingan Roh Kudus telahmembuahkan di dalam mereka suatu kerja sama yang ideal dalam terlaksananyaperutusan Gereja Perdana. Santo Petrusmengungkapkan hubungan ini dengan menyebut Markus sebagai anaknya sendiri. Persekutuan yang kuat antara guru dan murid dan dapatdiperbesar lingkupnya menjadi orang tua dan anak, Tuhan dan manusia merupakansuatu kekuatan. Apalagi kalau persekutuan itu dapat disamakan dengan sebuahsenjata yang ampuh. Manfaat kekuatan ini ialah seperti yang diuraikan dalambacaan pertama hari ini dari surat Santo Petrus yang pertama (5, 6-14):lawanlah si iblis yang berjalan keliling sama seperti singa yang mengaum-ngaummencari orang untuk ditelannya, lawanlah itu dengan iman yang teguh. Ini adalahtandanya menjadi murid Yesus yang sesungguhnya. Markus terbukti sangat setia pada ajaran-ajaran YesusKristus, yang pada akhirnya mencapai panggilannya sebagai seorang penulisInjil. Roh Yesus Kristus sungguh bekerja dalam dirinya, terutamamenginspirasikan dirinya untuk menulis. Tradisi suci Gereja menyebutkan bahwaInjil ini mendekati yang otentik. Ini sebenarnya menegaskan bahwa Injil Markusmerupakan injil yang paling pertama ditulis, dibandingkan ke-3 Injil lainnya.Luas tulisannya paling sedikit atau singkat, dan menurut tradisi tulisan seperti itu lebih mendekati aslinya. Mengikuti pesan Yesus supaya para rasul dan murid pergiseluruh dunia untuk mewartakan Injil kepada segala bangsa, Markus mengambiltugas ini dengan serius. Acts of the Apostles 9: 1-20; Rs psalm 117: 1.2; John 6: 52-59.TO BECOME GOD'S CHOSEN INSTRUMENT The theme for our meditation today is: To BecomeGod's Chosen Instrument.When a baby is still in the womb, and later when thechild is born and begins to grow, people naturally have many hopes and dreamsfor the child's future. For example, a couple married for one year may alreadyhave many expectations for their newborn, even if the baby is only two weeksold. That baby brings great joy to the parents. The father may say that his son will grow up to belike him, suited for work in politics or social life. The mother, on the otherhand, may think the child resembles her and is better suited to become aneducator, like herself. But who truly knows what the child will become in thefuture? Often, reality turns out differently from human expectations. We mustaccept that only God knows the future of every person. It is true, then, that while we make plans, God is theone who ultimately determines the outcome. Still, preparation is necessarybecause it is part of God's will. Scripture and the teachings of the Churchremind us to be ready and vigilant. The purpose of preparation is to make usready to be used by God as His instruments for a particular mission. After the resurrection and ascension of Jesus, theChurch received a great mission: to preach the Gospel to the whole world, notonly in Jerusalem and its surroundings. This mission required seriouspreparation. One remarkable example is the conversion of Saul on the road toDamascus. Saul, once known as a persecutor of the early Church, experienced agreat transformation. He became Paul, an apostle chosen by Jesus to preach tothe nations, even though he was not one of the original Twelve Apostles. Saul's conversion was a turning point in his life.Once he became part of Christ's mission, he remained faithful and never turnedback, despite many difficulties. He fully committed himself to the missionentrusted to him. Today, the Lord Jesus teaches that to be His true disciples,like Paul, we must partake in His Body and Blood. Through baptism, we are allcalled to this mission. Letus pray.In the name of the Father…O Lord Jesus, renew us so that we may become Your true followers in our dailylives.Hail Mary, full of grace…In the name of the Father…
