Acts of the Apostles 20: 17-27; Rs psalm 68: 10-11.20-21; John 17: 1-11a.EMBRACE THE GLORY OF GOD The title for our meditation today is:Embrace The Glory Of God. Jesus has explained so much about the Holy Spirit whoteaches us everything about Him, including about the cross and suffering. If weas His followers love and accept the cross that the Lord has given us, we mustbe so loved and blessed by the Holy Spirit. For example, the Apostle Paul saidthat suffering and the cross had become his daily food. The Holy Spiritstrengthened and comforted him to accept it with pleasure, and he enjoyed it tothe end. To endure to the end with this cross, Jesus makes it the greatestchallenge for His followers. There are people who are ready for it like Paul,but there are more not yet or even not ready. So He prays for them so that theydo not need to worry about all kinds of suffering and the cross. Blessed are wefor the Lord Jesus Christ prays for us! His prayer for us and His promise ofthe Holy Spirit that helps us to carry our crosses, aim to make us always likethe cross, embrace it, and carry it. Before carrying the cross, we must embracefirst. That means we want, we like and we accept it. If we embrace something orsomeone, that means we love, also we are careful to keep it from falling. Wetry to make sure that the cross does not fall from us and can even move toanother person. This means we embrace the glory ofGod. The cross signifies victory and glory for us, which is achieved byovercoming error and sin. What does embracing God's glory mean? First, becauseJesus Himself reveals that glory to us, especially when He prays for us.Second, Jesus offers an abundance of blessings without limit and this describesreally the glory of God. The glory of the Lord refers to His abundant mercy andkindness. Third, by embracing the glory of Godthrough His cross, we are certain to know God personally. In principle, if wecan get to know someone about his situation that is most difficult, then wecome to know him deeply and personally. With the cross of Jesus, we can knowmany people who are suffering around us because of the various problems.Fourth, the glory of our Lord is also experienced through the fellowship oflove that endures to the end, precisely when love is expressed in serving thosewho suffer. The cross signifies the unity of Jesus Christ with the sinful andsuffering human beings. Let us prepare ourselves for the Solemnity of thePentecost by embracing the glory of God.Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... O Good and loving God, help us to always choose for Your glory inall our efforts and duties. May we faithfully carry our crosses in all times.Hail Mary full of grace ... Yesussudah menjelaskan sedemikian banyak tentang Roh Kudus yang mengajarkan segalasesuatu tentang Dia kepada kita, termasuk tentang salib dan penderitaan. Jikakita sebagai pengikut-Nya mencintai dan menyanggupi salib yang diberikan Tuhankepada kita, kita pasti sangat disayangi dan diberkati Roh Kudus.  Buktinya, Paulus merasa bahwa penderitaan dan salib sudah menjadisantapannya tiap hari. Roh Kudus menguatkan dan menghibur dia untuk menerimanyadengan senang hati, dan ia nikmati itu sampai akhir. Untuk bertahan sampaiakhir dengan salib ini, Yesus jadikan itu sebagai tantangan terbesar bagi parapengikut-Nya. Ada orang yang siap untuk itu seperti Paulus, tapi jauh lebihbanyak yang belum atau bahkan tidak siap. Maka Ia mendoakan mereka supaya tidakusah kuatir tentang semua jenis penderitaan dan salib. Berbahagialah kita yangdidoakan oleh Tuhan Yesus Kristus! Doa dan janji-Nya akan Roh Kudus yang menolong kita memikul salib,bertujuan supaya kita senantiasa menyukai salib itu, memeluknya, lalumemikulnya. Sebelum memikul salib, kita harus memeluk dahulu. Itu artinya kitamau, suka dan menyanggupinya. Kalau memeluk sesuatu atau seseorang, itu berartikita sayang, juga kita berhati-hati menjaganya supaya tidak jatuh. Kitaberusaha supaya salib itu tidak jatuh dari kita bahkan bisa berpindah ke pihaklain. Ini berarti kita memeluk kemuliaan Tuhan. Salib merupakan kemenangan dankemuliaan bagi kita, yang dicapai dengan penaklukan atas kesalahan dan dosa.Memeluk kemuliaan Tuhan berarti apa? Pertama, karena Yesus sendiri menyatakankemuliaan itu kepada kita, khususnya saat Ia mendoakan kita. Kedua, Yesusmempersembahkan kelimpahan hidup tanpa batas dan ini menggambarkan sebuahkemuliaan Tuhan. Kemuliaan Tuhan itu menunjuk pada berlimpah-limpah kemurahandan kebaikan-Nya. Ketiga, dengan memeluk kemuliaan Tuhan melalui salib-Nya itu, kitadipastikan mengenal Tuhan secara pribadi. Pada prinsipnya, jika kita dapatmengenal seseorang akan situasinya yang paling memprihatinkan, di situ kitamengenalnya secara mendalam dan pribadi. Dengan salib Tuhan, kita dapatmengenal orang-orang yang menderita di sekitar kita secara pribadi. Keempat,kemuliaan Tuhan kita alami juga melalui persekutuan kasih yang bertahan sampaiakhir, persisnya ketika kasih itu diungkapkan dalam melayani orang-orang yangmenderita. Salib menandakan Yesus Kristus bersatu dengan nasib manusia yangberdosa dan menderita. Marilah kita menyiapkan hari raya Pentekosta denganmemeluk kemuliaan Tuhan. Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... Ya Tuhan yang mahabaik, bantulah kami untukselalu mengutamakan kemuliaan-Mu di dalam semua usaha dan tugas kami. Semogakami setia memikil salib kami. Acts of the Apostles 19: 1-8; Rs psalm 68: 2-3.4-5ac.6-7b; John 16: 29-33.THE HOLY SPIRIT HELPS US TO CARRY THECROSS The title for our meditation today is:The Holy Spirit Helps Us Carry The Cross. In religion class, a student askedhis teacher: "The gospel is called the good news, but why are we taughtabout the cross and suffering? Where's the joy of the Gospel? " The lady teacher who has fullexperiences in teaching religion answered by using the analogy of a pregnantmother. In fact the pupil's mother was pregnant at that time with her secondchild. "You at home are happy looking forward to the birth of your sister,right? That is a good news. But your mother bears all the heavy burdens, shehas a lot of trouble every day, and even more so when she gives birth, howpainful she will be. All is about cross and suffering. But after giving birth,all of you in the family will be happier than now." The pupil fell silent and understood.He is like many of us who often regard the cross as a burden that will notescape from us. We often protest God, why the burden or suffering is very heavyand painful. If the holy martyrs in the Church could testify to us, theycertainly repeat what the Gospel proclaims today: But take courage andstrengthen your heart, because we are the true witnessess that Jesus hasovercome the world! Jesus defeated the world with theCross He carried with Him and upon it he was crucified. The Holy Spirit helpsus to see the cross as the power and the way we defeat the world. The cross isa victory and glory. Therefore, we cannot just consider it simply a futilesuffering, ignorance and scandal. Jesus had carried the cross to conquer theworld. So we don't have to worry or be ashamed of the cross. Jesus gives us the best gift, that isHis own Spirit and that means we are baptized in the Holy Spirit. We have allreceived it through the sacrament of baptism, or the same also received byApollos and his friends during the early Church evangelization. There is layingon of hands when the Holy Spirit fills us at the time of the sacrament ofConfirmation. Pentecost will be a reminder of our renewal in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit strengthens us withfaith, courage, perseverance and loyalty so that we are able to live tomorroweven though we will face many obstacles and difficulties. In carrying each ofour cross, the Holy Spirit is present with us. After passing through thesedifficulties and sufferings, the Holy Spirit also stays with us in all joy andpeace. Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... Almighty and everliving God, may we remain in longing and passion towelcome the Holy Spirit and remain in the path of salvation. Di dalam pelajaran agama, seorang murid bertanya kepada gurunya: “Injilitu disebut kabar gembira, tapi kenapa kami diajarkan tentang salib danpenderitaan? Di mana gembiranya?”  Ibu guru yang sudah berpengalaman itu menjawab dengan memakai analogi ibuyang sedang hamil. Persis ibu anak yang bertanya itu sedang hamil adiknya yangkedua. “Kalian di rumah sedang gembira menantikan kelahiran adikmu kan? Ituadalah kabar gembira. Tapi ibumu yang menanggung semua beban berat, dia banyaksusahnya setiap hari, dan terlebih lagi nanti pas melahirkan betapa dia merasasakit. Semua itu adalah salib dan penderitaan. Tapi setelah melahirkan, kaliansemua dalam keluarga akan menjadi lebih gembira daripada sekarang.”   Murid itu terdiam dan setuju. Ia sama dengan banyak dari kita yang seringmenganggap salib sebagai beban yang tidak akan hilang dari diri kita. Seringkita protes kepada Tuhan, mengapa beban dan derita amat berat dan menyiksa.Jika para martir yang sudah mati demi Gereja kita saat ini dapat bersaksikepada kita, mereka tentu mengulang lagi yang diwartakan Injil pada hari ini:Tidak usah kuatir dan kuatkanlah hatimu, karena kami adalah bukti-bukti Yesustelah mengalahkan dunia. Yesus kalahkan dunia dengan Salib yang Ia pikul dan padanya Ia bergantung.Roh Kudus membantu kita untuk memandang salib sebagai kekuatan dan cara kitamengalahkan dunia. Salib itu suatu kemenangan dan kemuliaan. Oleh karena itukita memang tidak bisa begitu saja menganggapnya sekedar penderitaan yangsia-sia, suatu kebodohan dan skandal. Yesus telah memanggul salib dan itu untukmenaklukkan dunia. Jadi kita tak usah kuatir atau malu dengan salib. Yesus memberikan kita karunia terbaik, ialah Roh-Nya sendiri dan ituberarti kita dibaptis dalam Roh Kudus. Kita semua sudah menerimanya melaluisakramen baptis, atau sama dengan yang diterima oleh Apollos dan teman-temannyadalam kisah penginjilan Gereja Perdana. Ada penumpangan tangan saat Roh Kudusmemenuhi diri kita pada saat Krisma. Hari Raya Pentekosta nanti merupakanperingatan pembaharuan diri kita di dalam Roh Kudus. Roh Kudus itulah yang memperkuatkan kita dengan iman, keberanian, ketekunandan kesetiaan supaya kita mampu menjalani hidup kita selanjutnya meski akanberhadapan dengan banyak rintangan dan kesulitan. Dalam memikul salibmasing-masing, Roh Kudus hadir bersama kita. Setelah melewati kesulitan danpenderitaan itu, Roh Kudus juga tetap bersama kita dalam segala suka cita. Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... Allah Bapa yang maha kuasa, semoga kami tetapdalam kerinduan dan semangat untuk menyambut Roh Kudus dan tetap menjadi bagiandari jalan keselamatan. We all know that perfection belongs toGod. He and all of His powerful deeds are perfect. God is the only creator oflife, that means He is perfect and total in word and deed. Therefore we callhim "Almighty", which means there is no other power above Him. Our human attitude towards God who isone and perfect, generally manifested in two types. The first is to follow Himwhich means we give ourselves to live according to His will and to fulfill Hiscommandments. In the whole story of salvation, the history of God's people 'srelationship with God is very much colored by a crisis of giving of selfproperly and sincerely to God. Moses, David, Peter and Paul are some concreteexamples. They reflect the dynamic life of the real believers like everyone ofus. Second, towards the one and perfectGod, there is a type human attitude that refuses God, both openly and secretlynot to open up to accept His call. The history of salvation also proves thatthe enemies of God like the flood story in the days of Noah in the oldtestament and the Pharisees in the new testament, did not have blessings fromGod. A journey of life that does not know God and rejects Him, clearlydirects  that life to its end in the formof death. On this Sunday the word of God deeplytouches all of us who believe in Christ, that our unity and life in God are thebasic conditions for our salvation. This is our basic calling that begins withour respective baptisms, so that from that moment until the end of our lives,we are in that same unity. The virtue and value of unity are noble and holybecause it comes from God Himself. This should become a reminder for usboth individuals and people of God or members of society, that a union ofpeople who live together in community does not always end in a unity. The endof a process and journey turns out to be in division, separation, conflict, andeven persecution. If the calling of marriage andreligious life turn out to end in separation or division, it means that lifedoes not reach perfection. If someone's journey as a follower of Christ finallyleads to failure to enter heaven, then the journey of faith is far from thelight of perfection. Therefore, the good news of today is important for us,that is, stay united in God. That is perfection. Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... O God, bless us so that we are not tempted to abandon the unity oflife in your kingdom. Our Father who art in heaven ... In the name of theFather ...

Kita semua tahu bahwa sempurna adalah milik Tuhan. Ia dan seluruhkuasa-Nya adalah sempurna. Tuhan adalah satu-satunya penyelenggara kehidupan,itu berarti Ia sempurna dan total dalam berkata dan bertindak. Karena itu kitamenyebut Dia “Maha”, yang berarti tidak ada tandingannya. Sikap kita manusia terhadap Tuhan yang satu dan sempurna itu, umumnya adadua jenis. Pertama yaitu mengikut Dia yang berarti kita memberikan diri untukhidup di dalam kehendak dan perintah-perintah-Nya. Dalam seluruh kisahkeselamatan, riwayat hubungan umat Allah dengan Tuhan sangat banyak diwarnaioleh krisis pemberian diri dengan benar dan tulus kepada Tuhan. Musa, Daud,Petrus dan Paulus merupakan beberapa contoh yang konkret. Mereka merefleksikandinamika hidup orang-orang beriman yang nyata. Kedua, terhadap Tuhan yang satu dan sempurna, ada sikap manusia yangmenolak, baik secara terang-terangan maupun secara diam-diam tidak membuka diriuntuk menerima panggilan-Nya. Sejarah keselamatan juga membuktikan bahwa paramusuh Tuhan seperti kisah air bah pada zaman Nuh di perjanjian lama dan kaumFarisi di perjanjian baru, tidak mendapatkan berkat-berkat dari Tuhan. Sebuahperjalanan hidup yang tidak mengenal Tuhan dan menolak-Nya, sangat jelasmengarahkan hidup itu ke penghujungnya berupa kematian. Pada hari Minggu ini firman Tuhan amat menyentuh diri kita semua yangpercaya kepada Kristus, bahwa persatuan dan hidup kita di dalam Tuhan adalahsyarat dasar untuk keselamatan kita. Ini adalah panggilan dasar kita yangdimulai dengan pembaptisan kita masing-masing, agar sejak saat itu sampai akhirhayat kita, kita berada di dalam persatuan itu. Keutamaan dan nilai persatuanadalah mulia dan kudus karena berasal dari Tuhan sendiri. Hal ini perlu menjadi pengingat bagi kita baik individu maupun umat Allah atau anggota masyarakat, bahwa sebuahpersatuan orang-orang yang hidup bersama dalam persekutuan tidak selamanyaberakhir tetap dalam sebuah persatuan. Akhir dari sebuah proses dan perjalananternyata berwujud pada perpecahan, perpisahan, konflik, dan bahkanpembinasahan.  Kalau panggilan hidup membiara dan perkawinan ternyata  berakhir dengan pemisahan atau perpecahan,berarti kehidupan itu tidak mencapai kesempurnaan. Kalau perjalanan seseorangsebagai pengikut Kristus akhirnya berujung pada kegagalan masuk surga, berartiperjalanan iman itu jauh dari cahaya kesempurnaan. Oleh karena itu, kabargembira hari ini menjadi penting bagi kita, yaitu tetaplah bersatu di dalamTuhan. Itu adalah kesempurnaan. Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa ... Ya Allah, berkatilah kami supaya kami tidaktergoda untuk keluar dari persekutuan hidup di dalam kerajaan-Mu. Bapa kami...Dalam nama Bapa...

Zephaniah 3: 14-18a; Rs psalm Isaiah 12: 2-3.4bcd.5-6; Luke 1: 39-56.SISTERHOOD VISIT The title for our meditation today is:Sisterhood Visit. When brothers and sisters visit one another, they normallyexchange spirit and energy that represent their wills to foster unity, familyspirit and togetherness. Those who meet with intention to find out faults inothers, even among brothers and sisters, will just create conflict and forceviolence toward others. It is not a brotherhood or sisterhood meeting. We always believe that a sisterhood orbrotherhood visit will benefit the meeting itself and unity among sisters orbrothers. The meeting of siblings really strengthens their bonding and mutuallove. There is no way to replace one's own sister or brother. Those who are notsiblings can do also sisterhood or brotherhood visit to show how they really needone another and the values or meaning that they nourish together from thatencounter. The holy scriptures have a lot ofevents on the meaningful meetings of persons. One of those meetings is what wecelebrate today as a feast, namely the visit of the Virgin Mary to her hersister Elisabeth. We know that every visit of a sister or brother has good andnoble purposes. In that encounter the spirit of sisterhood or brotherhood bindsthem strongly. Blood relationship and solidarity or love between them becomespiritual wealth that sustain their unity. Today, the visit of the Virgin Mary toher sister Elisabeth presents us a higher meaning  of such encounter than simply an encounterbetween sisters. If a meeting of sisters or brothers can produce goodness andmutuality between them, in the meeting of Virgin Mary and Elisabeth, itssignificance rises to the fullness of grace in which the power of the almightyGod intervened extraordinarily. This is the point of holiness. At this level the Holy Spirit worksand moves all human activities. Elisabeth who first obtained the result of thework of the Holy Spirit, rejoiced to welcome her sister Mary who was filledwith the Holy Spirit to become the Mother of God, whose motherly womb conceivedthe Son of God. This sisterhood bond of Mary and Elisabeth gives us inspirationthat our sisterly or brotherly relationships need to be empowered by the HolySpirit. This is the true sign of our being followers of Christ. The Holy Spirit animates our visit orencounter when we involve in the sacred activities such as personal renewal,repentance, works of mercy, forgiveness, consolation for the sufferings,assistance for the needy, cooperation of parties to face together calamities,and unity of faith to glorify and praise the Lord. We need to always invoke theHoly Spirit to take part in every visit of ours as brothers and sisters.  Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... O Lord Jesus Christ, bless us to always obey the guidance of yourHoly Spirit. Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit ... Inthe name of the Father ...

Apa punjenis dan bentuk suatu kunjungan persaudaraan, dapat kita katakan bahwaorang-orang yang bertemu sangat dipenuhi suasana dan energi positif.Orang-orang yang bertemu dengan tujuan mencari kesalahan pihak lain, menuaikonflik dan bahkan menabuh gendang peperangan, itu bukan pertemuanpersaudaraan.  Kita selalu meyakini bahwa suatu kunjungan persaudaraan tentu saja berbuahpada perjumpaan dan persekutuan persaudaraan. Mereka yang bertemu sebagaisaudara atau saudari kandung sangat memahami pertemuan semacam ini. Yang bukansaudara-saudari sekandung, nuansa persaudaraan juga sering memperlihatkanbetapa orang-orang itu membutuhkan satu sama lain.  Kitab suci kita berisi banyak sekali peristiwa pertemuan orang-orangbersaudara. Salah satunya yang hari ini kita rayakan sebagai pesta ialahPerawan Maria mengunjungi saudarinya Elisabeth. Kita tahu bahwa setiapkunjungan persaudaraan mempunyai tujuan baik dan mulia. Di dalam kunjungan danperjumpaan itu roh atau semangat persaudaraan mengikat mereka dengan sangatkuat. Hubungan darah dan kesetiakawanan atau tali-kasih di antara merekamanjadi kekayaan rohani yang dimanfaatkan demi persekutuan itu. Hari ini peristiwa kunjungan Perawan Maria kepada saudarinya Elisabethmenampilkan satu aspek lebih tinggi dari pada roh atau semangat persaudaraan.Jika pada tingkat hubungan darah dan kesetiakawanan dapat menghasilkan kebaikandan kepantasan di antara saudara dan saudari, pada tingkat kunjungan PerawanMaria, hasilnya naik kepada tingkat kepenuhan rahmat di mana campur tanganTuhan yang maha kuasa yang bekerja. Ini adalah tingkat kekudusan. Pada tingkat ini Roh Kudus yang bekerja dan menggerakkan semua aktivitasmanusia. Elisabeth yang lebih dahulu mendapatkan hasil dari karya Roh Kudus,bersuka cita menyambut saudarinya Maria yang dipenuhi Roh Kudus untuk menjadiBunda Allah yang mengandung Putra Allah. Kunjungan persaudaraan Maria danElisabeth ini memberikan kita inspirasi bahwa hubungan persaudaraan yangdijiwai oleh Roh Kudus sangatlah penting bagi kita pengikut Kristus. Roh Kudus menjiwai kunjungan dan perjumpaan kita yaitu ketika diisi dengankegiatan-kegiatan suci seperti pembaharuan diri, pertobatan, mohon ampun,penghiburan bagi yang susah, pendampingan yang putus asa, kerja sama untukmengatasi kesulitan bersama, dan persekutuan iman yang bersyukur memuji Tuhan.Kita perlu tekun melibatkan Roh Kudus dalam setiap kunjungan persaudaraan kita.Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... Ya Tuhan Yesus Kristus, berkatilah kami untukselalu patuh pada bimbingan Roh Kudus-Mu. Kemuliaan kepada Bapa dan Putra danRoh Kudus ... Dalam nama Bapa ...

For already many times, Sandro, a teenager who was about to enter theuniversity, apologized to his mother as he was saying: "I'm sorry Mama, Iam very sorry for what I did. I promise not to repeat that again". Sandroonly used the money for fun, not for his study in the college. He lowered hishead and hugged his mother. Hopefully Sandro would change. However, anyone who promises to change from mistakesor sins should realize that through regret, the change expected will be the onethat we all want. Regret refers to feeling ashamed, sad, painful, suffering andunpleasant for having made mistakes and sins. Even hatred, anger and dislikefor mistakes and sins are also constituted parts of regret. Someone who regretsmeans he is angry and hurt because of a sinful act made.  So we should not underestimate regret, deny or play funon it. Jesus Christ teaches that we should enjoy when we regret. Every one ofHis followers would weep and be overwhelmed with sorrow over the experience ofdeficiency or inability like the one experienced by Jesus' disciples. This is acommon thing that we always face in this life.  However, the Holy Spirit will comfort us when we arein the midst of trouble and trials. The comfort and help we receive afterregret is also our common experience. We normally smile and get excited again aftergoing through moments of weeping and sadness. But a regret will be the mosteffective one when it is done over sins or mistakes have been committed.  Let us imagine this. There was a mistake made and theperson concerned wanted to repent, improve himself, but he did not want toregret his actions! For example, I stole a friend's money. After admitting thatact, I would return the money and promise not to steal again, but I did notregret my sins of stealing money.  What would happen? I din't have any feeling of shameand sadness. I also didn't feel how sick and lost my friend was. There was nomore room in my heart for forgiveness and respect for others. That is theconsequence if we have no regrets. Truly regretting ourselves will make ourforgiveness sincere, and it will help us not any more tempted to make again thesame mistakes.  So let us say again, don't underestimate regret. Mayyou and I be among those who consider it positive and important for a regret.Every mistake demands regret. Let us pray. In the name of the Father... Untuk kesekian kalinya Sandro, remaja yang hendak masuk universitasitu, minta maaf kepada ibunya: "Maafkan aku Mama, saya sangat menyesaliperbuatan saya. Saya berjanji tak ulangi lagi perbuatan itu". Sandro hanyamenggunakan uang untuk bersenang-senang, bukan untuk masuk kuliah. Ia menundukdan memeluk ibunya. Semoga Sandro berubah. Tetapi setiap janji kita untuk berubah dari kesalahan ataudosa akan terwujud seperti yang diharapkan jika ada suatu penyesalan.Penyesalan adalah rasa malu, sedih, sakit, derita dan tidak menyenangkan karenatelah berbuat kesalahan dan dosa. Bahkan sikap benci, marah dan tidak sukaterhadap kesalahan dan dosa juga menjadi bagian penting dari suatu penyesalan.Orang yang menyesal menunjukkan bahwa ia marah dan sakit dengan perbuatantersebut.  Jadi orang tidak boleh menganggap remeh penyesalan,menyangkal atau mempermainkannya. Yesus Kristus memberikan nasihat bahwapenyesalan mesti dibuat dan dinikmati. Setiap pengikut-Nya akan menangis dandiliputi rasa sedih atas pengalaman kekurangan atau suatu ketidakmampuanseperti yang dialami para murid Yesus. Ini merupakan suatu hal yang biasa danselalu kita hadapi.  Tetapi semua itu akan diatasi dengan penghiburan dari RohKudus. Penghiburan dan pertolongan yang kita terima setelah penyesalan jugamerupakan suatu pengalaman rutin kita. Setelah menangis dan sedih, orangtersenyum dan bersemangat kembali. Namun suatu penyesalan dipandang palingefektif yaitu jika itu dilakukan atas dosa-dosa dan kesalahan yang kitalakukan.  Bayangkan saja, ada sebuah kesalahan yang dilakukan laluyang bersangkutan mau bertobat, memperbaiki diri, tetapi tidak mau menyesaliperbuatannya! Saya mencuri uang teman. Lalu mengakui perbuatan itu, saya akanmengembalikan uang dan berjanji tak mencuri lagi, tapi saya tidak menyesaliperbuatan saya.  Apa yang terjadi? Saya tidak punya perasaan malu dansedih. Saya juga tidak merasakan betapa sakit dan ruginya teman saya. Tak adalagi ruang di hati saya untuk maaf dan respek pada orang lain. Itulah akibatnyakalau kita tak punya penyesalan. Menyesali diri secara benar akan membuat maafkita tulus, dan akan membantu kita untuk tidak tergoda melakukan kesalahan yangsama lagi.  Jadi sekali lagi, jangan pernah menganggap remehpenyesalan itu. Semoga Anda dan saya termasuk orang-orang yang menganggappositif dan penting untuk sebuah penyesalan. Setiap kesalahan menuntut adanyapenyesalan. Marilah kita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... People often say: "lifebegins at 40". The new and meaningful life is obtained when someonereaches the age of 40. On this Lord's Ascension Day we want to reflect on thesignificance of the number 40, when God pleases to reveal His will and mystery. In our scriptures, 40 is a veryimportant number. It means completeness and gratefulness. Moses went to themountain to have meeting with God and he spent 40 days in prayer and fasting.The Israelites wandered for 40 years in their journey to enter the promisedland. For 40 days after His resurrection, Jesus appeared several times andtaught His apostles. In His apparitions, He assured them of His resurrectionand prepared them that eventually they went out to the world to proclaim theGospel. The key word here is completeness. Itis about fully-booked appointment by God, that our tickets for pilgrimage onthis earth as followers of Christ, give us an optimistic view about heaven.Jesus ascended into heaven really gives us the meaning that we are alreadybooked. In every ticket there is a list of menus of spiritual food that makesus confident and hopeful about our pilgrimage that is under way. The first menu writes the following:"The risen Lord is always with us now and for ever". He ascended intoheaven but he will always be present with us at all times in different forms.He is with us through His Holy Spirit. The second menu writes the following:"The risen Lord strengthens us to continue His works". We carry outour duties, services and professions with the energy of Jesus Christ, the styleof Jesus Christ, the mind of Jesus Christ and the character of Jesus Christ. The third menu writes the following:"You are My witnesses to all corners of the world". Through the workof preaching the gospel which is helped by the advancement of informationtechnology today, everyone immediately and personally is able to receive thegood news of the Lord. And the fourth menu writes the following: "Each ofus is the official messenger of Jesus Christ". Our "official"status is a distictive mark that makes us different from false messengers.  All the menus are complete. It's finaland we just enjoy them. It is hoped that with the tickets already fully bookedfor the final of our journey, we will be more joyful to welcome the outpouringof the Holy Spirit on the Pentecost Day, and be always open to be guided by Himin every moment of our lives.Let's pray. Musa pergi ke gunung untuk mencari pertemuannyadengan Allah selama 40 hari dan ketika di sana ia berpuasa dan berpantang.Orang-orang Israel mengembara selama 40 tahun persiapan untuk masuk ke tanahterjanji. Selama 40 hari setelah kebangkitan-Nya, Yesus menampakkan diribeberapa kali kepada para rasul-Nya. Dalam penampakannya itu, Ia yakinkan merekatentang kebangkitan-Nya dan menyiapkan mereka untuk terjun ke dalam dunia untuktugas perutusan mewartakan Injil. Kata kunci di sini ialah sudah lengkap, sudah di-booking lengkap oleh Tuhan, tiket-tiket kita untuk berziarah dibumi ini sebagai pengikut-pengikut Kristus, juga untuk berlangkah optimismenuju ke surga. Yesus naik ke surga untuk memastikan tiket-tiket itu bagikita. Di dalam tiket itu tertulis beberapa menu santapan rohani yang membuatkita yakin dan optimis tentang ziarah hidup kita. Menu pertama tertulis: “Tuhan yang bangkit selalu menyertai kita saat inidan sampai sepanjang masa”. Ia naik ke surga namun ia akan selalu hadir bersamakita setiap saat dalam bentuk yang berbeda. Ia menyertai kita dengan RohKudus-Nya. Menu kedua tertulis: “Tuhan yang bangkit memperkuatkan kita untukmelanjutkan karya-karya-Nya”. Kita jalankan tugas-tugas, pelayanan danpanggilan kita dengan energi Yesus Kristus, gaya Yesus Kristus, hati-pikiranYesus Kristus dan berwajahkan Yesus Kristus.  Menu ketiga tertulis: “Kalian adalah saksi-saksi-Ku ke seluruh pelosokdunia”. Melalui karya pewartaan Injil yang dibantu dengan kemajuan teknologiinformasi saat ini, setiap orang langsung dan dengan cepat menerima kabar sukacita Tuhan. Dan menu keempat tertulis: “Setiap dari kita adalah para utusanresmi Yesus Kristus”. Status kita yang “resmi” ini sebagai pembeda terhadaputusan-utusan yang palsu. Menu semua santapan ini sudah lengkap, sudah final dan tinggal kita nikmatisaja. Kiranya dengan tiket-tiket yang sudah di- booking final ini kitasemakin menyanggupi diri kita untuk menyambut pencurahan Roh Kudus pada hariPentekosta dan siap untuk dibimbing-Nya dalam setiap saat hidup kita.Marilahkita berdoa. This sentence is similar to whatwe normally understand that we are not after quantity only but what alsoimportant we pursue in life is the quality. This can be applied in any context,including in the work of the Gospel announcement that the Apostle Paul and hiscompanions carried out in the Aeropagus arena in Athens.  People of that place who believed in godsrejected all the teachings of Paul about Jesus Christ. Only one or two believedand then professed their faith in Jesus Christ. It was the least achievementobtained in terms of numbers of those who came to believe in Jesus, compared toa big number in other places that he had visited. The fruits of missionary labor atAeropagus must be very disappointing for the target obtained was only very fewnumber of believers. But Paul and companions were aware that this is the workof God, everything must depend on God alone. Let His will be done. As a matterof facts, with only one or two being baptized the Early Church grew rapidly andovercame all the obstacles throughout history, until our time today we see thatthe holy Church exists for all of us. In God there is no rivalry andcalculation of profit and loss neither quantity nor quality. For the Lord,there are men and women believers who follow Him and practice their faith withquality. Our actual numbers today in the Church are the realization of Jesus'choice of us from this world. From this election, we should give our best togrow to be qualified as followers of Christ. Our qualification according toJesus is when the Holy Spirit teaches us all the truth from God. Two human tendencies that pursuequantity and quality often bring about problems in life. Those who pursue onlynumbers can be more oriented to material, physical, social or worldly gain.Those who pursue quality alone can be more inclined to be elite, exclusive,irrelevant and unrealistic. So the best way is balance, that is, to give qualityof the quantity that we have. For example, our presence in thecommunity or family is lacking in numbers, but the exsisting numbers are inhigh quality so as to give good influence on others. The fruits of our laborsare many, but their qualities are badly needed in providing well-being to allpeople concerned and some to be contributed to the needy ones. That man isthin, but he is healthy. That woman is fat and big, but she is always ready towork and do sacrifices. Her brain is very slow to grasp, but she is veryresponsible. Our common challenge  inthis sense is to have balance in quality and quantity. Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... O generous Lord, through the guidance of Your Spirit, may we becomewise persons in keeping balance in quantity and quality of our lives. May webecome your sons and daughters always pleasing to you. Sebutan lain untuk kalimat ini ialah jangan mengejar saja jumlahatau kuantitas, karena yang juga penting ialah kualitas atau mutu.  Ini dapat diterapkan dalam konteks apa saja, termasuk dalam kisahpenyebaran Injil yang dilakukan Paulus dan rekan-rekannya di arena Aeropagus, diAthena. Orang-orang yang percaya pada dewa-dewa itu menolak semua ajaran Paulustentang Yesus Kristus, dan hanya satu dua orang saja yang percaya. Suatupencapaian yang sangat minim dari segi jumlah, kalau dibandingkan dengansejumlah daerah lain yang telah dikunjunginya.  Kalau yang dikejar terutama ialah jumlah atau sebanyak mungkin pengikutbaru, hasil ini pasti sangat mengecewakan. Namun Paulus dan rombongannya tahubahwa ini adalah pekerjaannya Tuhan, dengan semuanya terserah Tuhan saja.Biarkanlah kehendak-Nya saja yang terjadi. Buktinya, dengan hanya satu dua sajayang dibaptis, Gereja Perdana bertumbuh pesat dan melampaui sekian waktu dalamsejarah, hingga kini eksis bagi kita semua. Di dalam Tuhan tak ada rivalitas atau perhitungan untung rugi jumlah dankualitas. Bagi Tuhan, pokoknya ada orang yang percaya, mengikuti Dia danmenghidupi imannya itu dengan berkualitas. Jumlah kita sesungguhnya sekarangini merupakan realisasi pilihan Yesus atas kita dari dunia ini. Kita inginbertumbuh menjadi berkualitas sebagai pengikut Kristus ketika semua kebenarandiajarkan oleh Roh Kudus kepada kita. Maka terberkatilah kita semua.  Dua kecederungan manusia untuk mengejar jumlah dan kualitas seringmendatangkan persoalan tersendiri di dalam hidup kita. Mereka yang mengejarsaja jumlah bisa jadi lebih berorientasi material, jasmani, sosial dankesuksesan duniawi. Mereka yang mengejar kualitas saja bisa jadi lebih elitis,ekslusif, kurang mendarat dan tidak realistis. Maka jalan paling baik ialahkeseimbangannya, yaitu kualitas diberikan pada jumlah yang ada. Misalnya, kehadiran kita di dalam komunitas atau keluarga kurang banyak,tetapi dibuat sangat berkualitas yang membawa pengaruh yang baik bagi semuaorang. Hasil kerja banyak, tapi berikan kualitas pada kesejahteraan setiaporang dan ada sebagaian dilimpahkan kepada pelayanan kasih terhadap mereka yangmembutuhkan. Badan kurus, namun sehat. Badan tambun dan gendut, namun kerjasemangat dan rajin. Otak kurang pintar, namun bertanggung jawab. Tantangan kitabersama ialah menghadirkan selalu keseimbangan itu.Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... Ya Tuhan maha murah, semoga melalui bimbinganRoh-Mu, kami menjadi pribadi-pribadi yang bijaksana dalam menyeimbangkankebutuhan-kebutuhan hidup kami antara yang menargetkan jumlah dan kualitas.Sehingga kami dapat menjadi putra-putrimu yang selalu berkenan kepada-Mu. The court rulesout a just trial for the injustices that are happening in the world. Injusticeis a big sin of people who live and practice the life-style of the world. Thetragedies of war, hunger, corruption and sexual abuse are among the manyinjustices that contribute to the damages of life that our world today has. Jesus Christ specifically mentions theduty of the Holy Spirit who judges as He says, "When He comes, He willconvict the world". The spiritual jugde comes into a condition of theworld that had been renewed through the events of Jesus Christ. The Paschalevents presented Jesus, the apostles and the Early Church as the true witnessesof what is right, good and just that need to be maintained. A life that isright, good and just does not disappear after Jesus' death and ascension intoheaven. The Holy Spirit continues to livethrough this course of life. He teaches and operates the court so that we whohave faith may open our inner and physical eyes, to justify what sin is andwhere grace stands. The heavenly court does not use the law enforcement of thisworld, which are full of compromises and corruptions. The Holy Spirit does nothave flesh and bones, so He will certainly conduct His judgement fairly andwisely. The Spirit will make every believerand the whole world know for certain about sin. Sin is an act against God,namely not believing in Jesus Christ sent by the Father. The consequence of notaccepting God is not being able to enjoy happines and eternal dwelling in God.Sin brings misery to life in this world and must be more miserable in thehereafter. The Holy Spirit also shows what truth,goodness and justice are. Jesus himself lived in that manner and he did defendit to the point of His death. Jesus went up to the Father in heaven whily leavingthis world already graced with the the gift of salvation. His truth liberates,just like a liberation offered to Paul and Silas from imprisonment as told inthe liturgical first reading of today. This is what we need to follow, which isan eternal gain that is to live with the Father in heaven. The Holy Spirit opens the eyes of thewhole world that the judgment for sinners is undeniable. Sinners, andespecially the scandal makers who have plunged many people into sin, must berewarded with extraordinary punishment. They have no place in God. Let us bethe people who are firm to the truth and obedient to the Holy Spirit.Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... O God Almighty, we are grateful for Your Son Jesus Christ whoenlightens us in the divine justice. Mengapa adapengadilan terhadap dunia? Pengadilan sepantasnya ada karena ada yang tidakadil telah terjadi di dalam dunia. Ketidak-adilan itu merupakan kesalahan besarorang-orang yang didasari oleh semangat hidup mereka yang duniawi. Yesus Kristus dengan spesifik menyebutkan tugas Roh Kudus antara lainsebagai pengadil, “ketika Ia datang, ia akan menginsafkan dunia”. Roh Pengadilitu datang pada kondisi ketika telah ada titik pembaharuan. Yesus danselanjutnya para rasul bersama Gereja Perdana berdiri tegak untuk dilihat olehseluruh dunia bahwa yang benar, baik dan adil itu tetap ada. Kehidupan yangbenar, baik dan adil tak hilang begitu saja dengan wafat-Nya Yesus Kristus dan kenaikan-Nyake surga.  Roh Kudus akan menjelaskan dan membuat pengadilan itu nampak begitu terang sehinggasetiap manusia yang beriman terbuka mata batin dan fisiknya, untuk memastikanyang salah itu seperti apa dan yang benar di mana posisinya. Pengadil surgawi tidakmemakai penegakan hukum duniawi yang penuh dengan permainan dan korupsi. RohKudus tak bertubuh dan bertulang, jadi dipastikan pengadilan yang dibuat-Nyasangat-sangat adil dan bijaksana. Roh akan membuat setiap orang beriman dan seluruh dunia tahu dengan pastitentang dosa. Dosa ialah perbuatan melawan Tuhan, yaitu tak percaya akan YesusKristus yang diutus oleh Bapa. Konsekwensi tak menerima Tuhan adalah tak dapatmenikmati suka cita dan tempat hidup yang abadi. Dosa membawa sengsarakehidupan di dunia ini dan pasti lebih sengsara lagi di akhirat. Roh Kudus juga memperlihatkan kebenaran, kebaikan dan keadilan itu sepertiapa. Yesus sendiri hidupnya seperti itu dan dipertahankan sampai dihukum mati.Sebagai kelanjutan dari dunia ini, Yesus menuju kepada Bapa di surga. Kebenaranitu membebaskan, sama seperti membebaskan Paulus dan Silas dari penjara sepertiyang dikisahkan dalam bacaan pertama liturgi hari ini. Ini yang akan diikutioleh orang-orang benar, baik dan adil, yang sebagai perolehan istimewa yangbersifat abadi ialah hidup bersama Bapa di surga. Roh Kudus membuka mata seluruh dunia bahwa penghakiman terhadap parapendosa sudah sangat jelas. Para pendosa, dan terutama para pembuat skandalyang telah menjerumuskan banyak orang ke dalam dosa, harus mendapatkan ganjaranhukuman yang  luar biasa dasyat. Merekatak mendapat tempat di dalam Tuhan. Semoga Anda dan saya menjadi orang-orangyang berada dalam jalur kebenaran yang diperjelas dan dipertegaskan oleh RohKudus. Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... Ya Allah maha kuasa, kami bersyukur atasPutra-Mu Yesus Kristus yang mencerahkan kami tentang keadilan-Mu. Anyone of us who is a helper to the neighbors, he orshe has all the freedom to help, do good and make sacrifice according to his orher abilities. That help can be big, medium or small either in quantity orquality. Often the helps are offered by those who do not know the concernedreceivers. The givers also do not want to be known. The offerings that reachthe supposed receivers can be considered as gifts. Therefore the secret of ahelp or offering is in the person of the helper.  A good helper is like a teenager namedBerto. At school he is known as a model because he likes to help his fellowstudents. He is not ashamed of picking up garbages left by his friends who makefloor and yard dirty. He shares his learning tools with the friends who forgetto bring with them. He shares his own water and food with the friends who don'thave. He is eager to accompany and tell stories to the friends who are sick. Hehelps anyone without feeling bored and tired. The helpers like Berto do havemotivation, intention, and belief that are typical to every one of them. Eachhas type and way of help which is different from the other. The way and qualityof giving help depend much on each helper. Those who receive helps do not needto preocupy or to imagine about the form and content of help. Lydia in thefirst reading from the Acts of the Apostles offered all the logistics to Pauland compaions. This is what we call “the secret of the helper”, which is inthis context Lydia. Paul and Silas did not have to bother on the contents ofthe helper's kindness. This is what we mean by the secret ofa helper. Do we ever know the secret of God's will to help us? We never know.The Holy Spirit sent to us by Jesus Christ who comes out of the Father, also hasall His secret. Jesus reveals a sort of clue by saying that the messenger is anAdvocate and Defender. Let it be God's will to help. We have no authority toimpose our desires on the Holy Spirit. What is clear is that God's will is forour goodness and salvation. Anyone of us who has intention, will,plan and nature to help, just be convinced that, the basic secret of a goodhelper is to do what is appropriate, positive, healthy and sincere of bringinggoodness and salvation to those who receive help. A good helper never does anyevil  both in ways and goals to others. Thisis not a help, but a coercion that will plunge those helped into trouble and danger.Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... O Lord Jesus, help us always to imitate yourself in helping others,and may we be open to all the teachings of your Holy Spirit. Siapa pundi antara kita yang menjadi penolong bagi sesamanya, ia memiliki segalakebebasan untuk membantu, berbuat baik dan berkorban sesuai dengankemampuannya. Bentuk pertolongan bisa besar, sedang atau kecil. Seringpertolongan itu tanpa harus diketahui pihak yang menerima dan juga orang-oranglain di sekitarnya. Pemberian dari seorang penolong dapat juga dipandangsebagai hadiah. Oleh karena itu rahasia pemberian itu ada di dalam pribadi sipenolong. Penolong yang baik adalah seperti seorang remaja bernama Berto. Disekolahnya ia dikenal sebagai anak teladan karena ia suka menolong sesamanya.Ia tidak malu memungut sampah ulah teman-teman yang mengotori lantai danhalaman. Ia berbagi alat pelajaran dengan teman yang lupa membawanya. Iaberbagi air dan makanannya sendiri kepada teman yang tidak punya. Ia dudukmenemani dan bercerita untuk teman yang sakit. Ia membantu siapa saja tanparasa lelah.   Seorang penolong seperti Berto memiliki motivasi, maksud, niat dankeyakinannya sendiri yang tak dimiliki orang lain. Seperti apa dan kualitasnyabagaimana pertolongan itu, sangat bergantung pada si penolong. Pihak yangditolong tidak usah tergoda berimaginasi tentang wujud pertolongan itu. Lidiadalam bacaan pertama hari ini mempersembahkan pertolongan penginapan kepadaPaulus dan rombongannya. Itu adalah rahasia si penolong, Lidia. Paulus danSilas tak perlu repot mengetahui semua isi rencana si penolong. Ini yang dimaksudkan dengan rahasia seorang penolong. Apakah kita pernahtahu rahasia kehendak Tuhan yang menolong kita? Tak pernah. Roh Kudus diutusYesus Kristus yang keluar dari Bapa untuk kita, juga berkehendak denganrahasianya. Yesus hanya membuka kartu dengan berkata bahwa utusan itu adalahPenasihat dan Pembela. Biarkan saja itu urusan Allah untuk menolong. Kita tidakpunya wewenang untuk memaksakan keinginan kita kepada Roh Kudus. Yang jelasyang akan diperbuatkan bagi kita adalah kebaikan dan keselamatan kita. Siapapun dari kita yang mempunyai niat, kehendak, rencana dan hakikat hidupuntuk menolong, yakinlah, rahasia paling mendasar ialah berbuat yang pantas,positif, sehat dan dengan tujuan untuk membawa kebaikan dan keselamatan bagiyang ditolong. Jangan pernah menolong sesama dengan cara dan tujuan jahat. Itubukan menolong, tetapi menodong tindakan pemaksaan kehendak yang bakalmenjerumuskan pihak yang ditolong ke dalam kesulitan dan derita. Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... We need to clarify theterm or name "Catholic" that we use here. The term"Catholic" here is not to put in comparation between theRoman-Catholic with the Pope as its head and other Christian denominations inthe Reformation movement. The term "Catholic" here refers to allChristians and believers who believe in Jesus Christ, the only Savior of theworld. If Christ is the principal reason forall of us to become "Catholics", then logically speaking, the HolySpirit is also Catholic, because Jesus Himself sends His Spirit to us. The eraof this world after Jesus Christ ascended into heaven is called the Age of theHoly Spirit. The work of the Holy Spirit is the continuation of the work ofJesus Christ, whose main task is to renew the whole face of the earth and makeevery creation belong to God. The question is: how can we understandthat the Holy Spirit makes everything belong to God, and that is why He istruly Catholic? To answer this question, we need to depart from the Gospelreading of today, which says that the Holy Spirit sent by Jesus has a role toremind us of everything Jesus has taught and said. The role to teach everythingis an essential element of universality, namely the Catholic. The Holy Spiritworks totally and reaches a complete result. The fullness of our lives becomesthe fruit of the work of the Holy Spirit. The early Church in Jerusalem and anumber of cities around it realized that under the guidance of the Holy Spirit,the Church truly became Catholic. The universal character of the Church as theword “Catholic” refers to, became the very important message of the Council ofJerusalem, with the mandate that all nations regardless of culture andbackgrounds can become disciples of the Lord and enter into the Church.Catholicism includes all people from all cultures, tribes, languages, races,religions, places and regions. In a short time, thanks to the hard work of Pauland Barnabas and a number of elected Church leaders, the face of the CatholicChurch became evident in the world and in the hearts of all people. As the Spirit of the Divine or God'sown Spirit, the role of the Holy Spirit is to sanctify this world and all thatdwell in it. The Apostle John's vision in the Book of Revelation shows that thefullness of God's grace, or holiness for all, is like a holy city, Jerusalem,came down from heaven and established on this earth. Istilah “Katolik” di sini tidak untuk membandingkanagama Katolik-Roma dengan Paus sebagai kepalanya dengan denominasi Kristenlainnya dalam Reformasi Protestant. Istilah “Katolik” di sini menunjuk padasemua dan segenap orang Kristen yang percaya kepada Yesus Kristus. Jika Kristus sebagai alasan dasar kita semua sebagai “Katolik”, maka secaralogis Roh Kudus juga adalah Katolik, karena Yesus sendiri mengutus Roh-Nya itukepada kita. Untukmenjawab pertanyaan ini, kita perlu berangkat dari Injil pada hari ini, yangmengatakan bahwa Roh Kudus yang diutus oleh Yesus memiliki peran untukmengingatkan kita tentang segala sesuatu yang telah Yesus ajarkan dan katakan.Peran dan tugas untuk mengajarkan segala sesuatu itu merupakan unsur hakikisebuah universalitas atau kekatolikan. Roh Kudus bekerja total dan sampaimencapai hasil yang tuntas. Kepenuhan hidup kita menjadi buah pekerjaan RohKudus. Gereja perdana di Yerusalem dan sejumlah kota di sekitarnya menyadari bahwaatas bimbingan Roh Kudus, Gereja itu sungguh menjadi Katolik. We want to understand this meditation from two opposingdirections. From where the Lord Jesus Christ and all the components in Hismission stands, the opposing spirit is surely an evil spirit with Satan as thecommander. Whereas from where the opponent stands,that is the the spirit of this world and Satan as its commander, the opposingspirit is goodness and truth of Jesus Christ manifested through Hisself-sacrifice to save the world and mankind. The holy Church continues to bearthid goodness and truth till this day. The evil spirit had indeed been defeatedby Jesus but he always waits for the best time to conquer its target namelyhuman persons. Both the Holy Spirit and the evil spirit are againtst eachother. Which one is superior depends on the free will of every human person to choose. Let us show one example. I was calm inmy room. There were no disturbances of evil thoughts, strange intentions and evilacts. There was also at that moment the presence of an evil spirit who wasstill waiting for my unawareness or lost of self-control, then it would temptand conquer me. That's how our daily life goes. The most crucial moment we willface is when the conflict of interest comes, namely choosing between good orevil, right or wrong, humble and pride and so on. A very important point here is that asfollowers of Christ, we must be able to distinguish the opposing spirits, theopposing orientation of life. We must know and be aware of interests that arenot in line with Jesus Christ. Christ has prepared us to have the ability todistinguish. He commands us to keep to His word. The stronger sign of the power ofGod's Spirit is expressed in the words of the Lord Jesus, as He says, "Ihave chosen you from this world". We belong to Jesus. So we have theability to make sure that there is a spirit that is contrary to Jesus and we,His followers. This is also shown in the experience of the two apostles, Pauland Barnabas, while they were undergoing an extraordinary mission. Saints arealso our examples in making of this distinction. So there are many examples around us.Through advice, spiritual guidance, discipline and spiritual assistance, we arehelped to be able to distinguish the opposing spirits. We are getting closer tothe Solemnity of the Pentecost, so we should have in our hearts and minds alonging for the gift of the Holy Spirit to each one of us. Let's pray. In the name of the Father... Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us always with Your blessings, especiallywhen we are struggling and fighting against the interests of this world thatare contrary to You. Kita inginmemahami renungan ini dari dua arah memandangnya. Dari posisi Tuhan YesusKristus dan semua komponen dalam perutusan-Nya, roh yang berlawanan ialah pastiroh jahat dengan Setan sebagai panglima.  Sedangkan dari posisi lawan, yaitu roh duniawi dan Setan sebagai panglima,roh yang berlawanan ialah kebaikan dan kebenaran yang telah ditegakkan olehYesus Kristus melalui pengorbanan diri-Nya dan masih diteruskan oleh Gereja.Roh jahat ini memang sudah dikalahkan Yesus tetapi ia selalu menunggu saja saatyang paling tepat untuk menaklukkan lagi pihak yang disasarnya. Dua kubu, RohKudus dan roh jahat sudah pasti berseberangan arah. Pihak mana yang unggulsangat bergantung pilihan menurut kehendak bebas setiap manusia.  Saya dalam suasana tenang di dalam kamar: tak ada gangguan pikiran jahat,niat yang aneh dan perbuatan yang menyimpang. Di situ ada juga kehadiran rohjahat yang tetap menunggu saatnya saya lengah atau lepas kontrol kesadaranku,lalu ia bisa menggoda dan menaklukkan saya. Kira-kira begitu keberadaan kitasetiap saat. Saat yang paling krusial yang kita hadapi ialah ketika konflikkepentingan itu datang: memilih yang baik atau jahat, benar atau salah danseterusnya. Poin yang sangat penting di sini ialah bahwa sebagai pengikut Kristus, kitamesti dapat membedakan roh yang berlawanan itu, semangat yang berseberangan,atau kepentingan yang tak sejalan dengan Yesus Kristus. Kristus telahmempersiapkan kita untuk dapat memiliki kemampuan untuk membedakan. Ia selalumenegaskan supaya kita tetap berpegang pada firman-Nya.  Dan yang lebih kuat tandanya ialah bahwa “Aku telah memilih kamu dari duniaini”. Kita menjadi milik Yesus, jadi kita mempunyai kemampuan untuk memastikanada roh yang berlawanan dengan Yesus dan kita sebagai para pengikut-Nya.Pengalaman ini telah dialami oleh para rasul, Paulus dan Barnabas ketikamenjalani misi yang luar biasa. Para kudus juga menjadi teladan kita dalam halpembedaan ini.  Demikian ada banyak contoh di sekeliling kita. Melalui nasihat, bimbinganrohani, disermen dan pendampingan rohani, kita dibantu untuk bisa membedakanroh yang berlawanan itu. Kita semakin mendekati pesta Pentekosta, maka mestinyadi dalam hati dan pikiran kita sudah ada kerinduan yang tinggi untuk anugerahRoh Kudus kepada kita masing-masing.  Marilahkita berdoa. Tuhan Yesus Kristus, kuatkanlah kami selaludengan berkat dan semangat-Mu terutama ketika kami sedang berjuang, bergulatdan bertarung melawan kepentingan-kepentingan dunia ini yang bertentangandengan Dikau. The implicit meaning of this sentence is that we werecreated by God, through the marriage of our parents then we were born throughour respective mothers, in love and to love. If you want to say it morefamiliar, just call it “all because of love”. The true vine or source that producesus is love itself (as it is said in the 1st Letter of John 4: 8 thatGod is love, Deus caritas est), thenour fruits certainly love itself. This can happen because we should always beconnected with our Lord Jesus Christ as the true vine, and we are all thebranches. This relationship of love reallyreflects the greatest act of love of Jesus Christ, that is the sacrifice ofHimself for our salvation. It is this greatest love that given to us, so thatwe can also, according to everyone's way, sacrifice ourselves for the goodnessand salvation of our neighbors. Why does this expression: "inlove and for love" lead us to sacrifice of oneself? Do we agree to suchteaching or invitation? I'm sure we agree and we follow its demand. Because ifwe are not sure and do not want to, our connection with the source of life willbe threatened to ruin or we will be loosing the way to salvation. We have hereat least four basic reasons. First, God showers His love into ourhearts. This divine sharing is not just once at the moment we received baptism,but precisely every time His words touches our hearts, the giving of Hisblessings to us, and the embrace of His love that we receive every day. This isour motivation to sacrifice. The early Church in Antioch was immediately filledwith God's love when it listened to the words and teachings on the obedience tothe true and one Church. Second, Jesus deals with us asfriends, and not as servants. Therefore He will always teach and give usexamples of how to love wholeheartedly as He has done. Third, the commitment oflove is to the end that is to our death. No matter a small or a simple act oflove is, its content and purpose is to sacrifice one's life to the point ofdeath. Fourth, love manifests itself through thefruits it produces. For example, I am happy to greet with the smile towards theguests who come to my house. The fruit of this act is that the the guests willfind it so easy and at home, and they become my good friends. When love doesnot produce good fruit, it turns out to be lies, falsehood and betrayal.Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... Maksudtersirat dalam kalimat ini ialah kita diciptakan oleh Tuhan Allah, melaluiperkawinan orang tua kemudian dilahirkan ibu kita masing-masing, dalam cintadan untuk mencintai. Kalau mau lebih kedengaran asyik, sebut saja semua karenacinta. Pohon atau pokok yang membuahkan kita adalah cinta itu sendiri (sepertiyang dikatakan dalam 1 Yohanes 4, 8 bahwa Allah itu adalah kasih, Deus caritas est), maka buah-buah kitaadalah cinta itu sendiri. Ini bisa terjadi karena kita mestinya selalu terhubungdengan Tuhan kita Yesus Kritsus sebagai pokok anggur, dan kita semua adalahranting-rantingnya.  Hubungan cinta ini ditandai oleh perbuatan cinta terbesar oleh Yesus Kristus,yaitu mengorbankan diri-Nya untuk keselamatan kita semua. Cinta terbesar inilahyang diwariskan kepada kita, supaya kita juga dengan cara kita masing-masingdapat berkorban diri demi kebaikan dan keselamatan sesama kita. Mengapa “dalam cinta dan untuk cinta” membawa kita pada suatu pengorbanandiri? Setujukah kita untuk sebuah ajaran atau undangan seperti ini? Saya yakinkita setuju dan mau. Karena kalau kita tak yakin dan tak mau, jaminan untuktersambung dengan pokok hidup kita terancam lemah bahkan bakal putus. Palingkurang di sini ada empat alasan mendasar. Pertama, Tuhan telah menyirami cinta-Nya ke dalam hati kita. Siraman inibukan hanya sekali saja saat kita menerima pembaptisan, tetapi justeru setiapkali siraman firman-Nya, sentuhan berkat-Nya, pelukan kasih-Nya yang kitaterima tiap hari. Ini adalah motivasi kita untuk berkorban. Gereja Perdana diAntiokia langsung dipenuhi oleh cinta kasih Tuhan begitu mendengarkan firmandan ajaran untuk ketaatan kepada Gereja yang benar. Kedua, Yesus sendiri perlakukan kita sebagai sahabat, dan bukan sebagaihamba. Karena itu Ia akan selalu mengajarkan dan memberikan kita contohbagaimana mengasihi sedemikian total seperti yang telah dilakukan-Nya. Ketiga,komitmen cinta ialah sampai mati. Sekecil atau sesederhana apa pun cinta itu,isinya ialah berkorban sepanjang hidup ini bahkan sampai mati.  Keempat, cinta itu dalam perwujudannya, menghasilkan buah. Misalnya sayagembira menyambut dengan senyum dan menyalami tamu yang datang, buahnya ialah,tamu itu akan menjadi betah dan menjadi sahabatku. Karena cinta yang tidakmenghasilkan buah yang baik, itu adalah kebohongan, kepalsuan danpengkhianatan. Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa ... Tuhan Yesus Kristus, sebagaimana Engkau telahmengajarkan dan memberikan kami contoh untuk mencintai dengan benar, semogakami selalu berkomitmen melakukannya. Salam Maria penuh rahmat ... It is not a question ofwhether the invitation and assurance true or fake. It is irrelevant for exampleto question whether God will save us or not. It may not be the opportunity todecide not to fulfill the invitation, because we have been baptized and havepromised to follow Him for the rest of our lives. Instead of having many questions ordoubts, more precisely let be our duty to respond to His invitation and the promiseHe had laid on us with stedfastness of our faith that shows our acceptance. We showwillingness and interest to always being with our Lord. We long all the moreHis invitation when our way of life seems lost in the midst of the busy worldthat surrounds us. For those people who practice the true love of God, thisinvitation should be a very special bonus. For example, when a peaceful,harmonius and lovely family welcomes this invitation and the promise of truehappiness that is from the Lord, it certainly experiences the growth of truefaith in the Lord Jesus. On the other hand when a family or person who have notexperienced the true love that it should have, or perhaps they really have losthope for the absence of love at all, this invitation of Jesus must be a sign ofGod's initiative to bring them back to that love. They must not feel ashame, afraid or unworthybecause the One who invites and gives assurance is God himself. They must admitand believe that love is much stronger and it definitely overcomes shame, fear,unworthiness and lack of trust. The Love of the Lord can overcome prejudices,suspicions and discrimination based on the fact that each person or group isdifferent from one to another. On the basis of that love andespecially in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ, for example, the apostles heldthe council in Jerusalem to strengthen the vision and mission of the one Churchthat originates and aims at Jesus Christ alone. They discussed, debated anddisputed on the differences laid among them and Gentiles. In the name of love,they made a reflection under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, then they came upto a decision that benefited the whole Church. The invitation of Jesus will continueto knock at our hearts: Stay in my love. Jaminan tinggal bersama Dia ialahkehidupan yang dapat menghasilkan buah berlimpah sehingga menghadirkan sukacita, kebahagiaan dan keselamatan. Mungkin di sini bukan soal motivasi apa Yesus mengundang dan memberikankita jaminan. Mungkin juga bukan soal meragukan apakah undangan dan jaminan itupada kenyataan benar atau keliru. Tak relevan misalnya dipertanyakan apakahTuhan akan menyelamatkan kita. Mungkin bukan pada tempatnya untuk memutuskantidak memenuhi undangan, karena kita sudah dibaptis dan telah berjanji untukmengikuti Dia seumur hidup kita. Daripada semua pertimbangan yang “bukan” tadi, lebih tepatnya kitamenyikapi undangan dan jaminan itu dalam suatu sikap iman yang kuat bahwa kitasiap, kita mau dan kita rindukan selalu manakala jalan hidup kita sepertinyatersesat di tengah hiruk-pikuk dunia ini. Bagi sebagian orang yang hidup denganpenghayatan kasih Tuhan sesungguhnya, undangan itu bonus yang istimewa.  Misalnya satu keluarga yang selalu damai, harmonis, dan penuh cinta,mendapat sekali lagi undangan dan jaminan itu, tentu hal itu menandakanpertumbuhan imannya. Sebaliknya keluarga atau pribadi yang hidupnya masih agaksusah mengalami kasih, atau mungkin ketiadaan kasih sama sekali, undangan danjaminan ini sebagai tanda inisiatif Tuhan untuk membawa mereka kembali kepadakasih itu.  Mereka tak usah malu, takut atau kurang percaya karena yang mengundang danmemberikan jaminan adalah Tuhan sendiri. Mereka perlu yakin bahwa cinta kasihjauh lebih kuat dan pasti mengalahkan rasa malu, takut dan kurang percaya.Cinta kasih itu terbukti mengatasi prasangka, curigah dan meremehkan hanyakarena setiap orang atau kelompok berbeda-beda. Atas dasar cinta kasih itu dan terutama dalam nama Tuhan Yesus Kristus,misalnya para rasul membuat konsili di Yerusalem untuk memperkuat satuvisi-misi dan arah yang bersumber dan bertujuan pada Yesus Kristus saja. Merekaberdiskusi, berdebat dan berselisih atas perbedaan-perbedaan yang ditemukan.Karena alasan cinta kasih, mereka membuat disermen dalam terang Roh Kudus, lalusampailah mereka pada keputusan yang membawa keuntungan bagi Gereja.  Undangan Yesus perlu diulangi lagi: Tinggallah di dalam kasih-Ku, Anda dansaya tidak boleh menolaknya! Marilahkita berdoa. The weeks after Easter Sunday or the day of Resurrectionnourish us with spirituality that is rich with great themes such as the breadof life, good shepherd, the house of the Father. Especially this week, we aretaught to love one another. These are wonderful spiritual experiences that weall treasure. In essence, God is always with Hispeople and endows every believer with all gifts, so that as individuals and asGod's people, we can live in this world to do His will dan plan. The appropriatesymbol to teach us this unity is the true vine. Jesus is the true vine, we areits branches, and the Father in heaven is the owner or the vine grower. The reality in the Church that showsdifferences in understanding and practice of faith, should be seen as part ofthe dynamic in the community of believers, as the branches often shaken againstthe wind and rainwater overflowing. These differences should not become thecause to damage life, for the vine, namely Jesus Christ, is the only Power thatprotects and sustains life. All misunderstandings and problems that arise fromthe the life of the Church will surely find their solutions in Jesus Christ. So our focus of attention on theabuncande fruits in Jesus Christ benefits us in our living together with Jesus asour head and we all pattern our lives after Him. These fruits are certainlyvery useful for the growth of our faith. The first fruit is holiness andevangelization. We as individuals and people of God recognize that holiness isour ideal, which is strongly supported by the works of evangelization. The second fruit is courage andwillingness to cut down the dry and useless parts of life, gather and burn themout. This is made through correction, reparation and repentance. The third isopportunity to grow and become a new person or community, to be more open aftercorrection and renewal. Fourth, we are therefore very happy to always beconnected with Jesus as the true vine. Fifth, if we are always with Jesus, wewill bear abundant fruits. Sixth, we indeed have a basic intention to alwayspraise and glorify our God and Father. Seventh, our dignity as followers ofChrist and the children of the Father is a very special and honorable position.Eighth, then we are sent by God to go and produce more good fruits, and ninth,not only to bear fruits but we must be able to survive in all forms of difficultiesand sufferings.Let's pray. In the name of theFather … O most loving Father, look at us with Your power and love, so that weare always related to the true vine, our Lord Jesus Christ. Simbol yang pas untuk mengajarkan hal ini ialah pokok anggur.Yesus adalah pokok anggur itu, kita adalah setiap rantingnya, dan Bapa di surgasebagai pemilik.  Bahwa di dalam Gereja selalu ada perbedaan pemahaman iman, itu merupakandinamika hidup ranting-ranting yang sering bergesekan karena terpaan angin dantimpahan air hujan. Perbedaan-perbedaan itu tak mungkin merusak suatu tatanankehidupan karena pokok anggur, yaitu Yesus Kristus hanyalah satu. Semuaperbedaan pemahaman pasti akan menemukan solusi pada Yesus Kristus sendiri. Jadi fokus perhatian kita kepada buah-buah hidup di dalam Yesus Kristus manfaatnyatentu akan mempersatukan dan memajukan kita bersama. Buah-buah ini tentu sangatberguna bagi hidup iman kita. Buah pertama ialah kesucian dan evangelisasi.Kita sebagai pribadi dan umat Allah mengakui kalau kesucian itu adalahcita-cita kita, yang sangat didukung oleh evangelisasi. Kedua ialah keberanian dan kemauan untuk memangkas bagian hidup yang keringdan tak berguna, dibuang dan dibakar. Ini dibuat melalui koreksi, perbaikan danpertobatan. Ketiga ialah kesempatan untuk tumbuh dan menjadi pribadi ataukomunitas yang baru, dan terbuka lebar setelah koreksi dan pembaharuan.Keempat, oleh karena itu kita tentu sangat bahagia untuk selalu terhubung denganYesus sebagai pokok anggur.  Kelima, jika senantiasa menyatu dengan Yesus, kita bakal berbuah melimpah.Keenam, dengan demikian kita mempunyai alasan dasar untuk selalu memuji danmemuliakan Allah dan Bapa kita. Ketujuh, martabat kita sebagai pengikut Kristusdan putra-putri Bapa merupakan kedudukan sangat istimewa dan terhormat.Kedelapan, maka itu kita diutus oleh Tuhan untuk pergi dan menghasilkanbuah-buah yang berguna, dan kesembilan, tidak hanya berbuah tetapi kita mesti mampubertahan dalam segala bentuk kesulitan dan penderitaan. Marilahkita berdoa. There was a Catholic teenage student who was always thetarget of bullying of his friends at school. However hard the situation was, healways reminded himself of the advice from his parents and the parish Priest towhom he used to come for a necessary counsel. Every time his friends bulliedhim, he always defended himself with the image of the Lord Jesus beinginsulted, tortured, and crucified, but he never fought back. Jesus faced allthose bad treatments in the peacefulness of heart and mind. Jesus fought all forms of violence ina peaceful manner he took from His Father. His followers, as shown by thatteenager, are ready for any kind of suffering that He himself had experiencedbecause He had prepared them. The apostles of Jesus proved to be ready to faceeverything and they feared nothing, because the peaceful weapon has been farmore powerful than any other weapons the world may offer. Saints Paul andBarnabas showed how this weapon was greatly helpful when they built andstrengthened the existence of the Church in the places they visited. The Church and followers of Christ inall places and times realize that Jesus' prophecy is always fulfilled, namely,the cup of suffering that he had drunk is also drunk by his followers. The samepeaceful weapon is still usefull today. The famous sentence that is alwaysrepeated in the celebration of the Eucharist confirms the power of this weaponas expressed in the words, "Peace, I leave you, my peace I give you." Jesus Christ gives us peace from Himselfas a very useful weapon, and the best time to use it is when we are underpressure and in any form of danger or threat. He has prepared us with thisstrategy. He already knew what would happen to each of his followers in facingvarious difficulties and sufferings. In every act of kindness and truththat His followers do in His name, the sufferings and difficulties would comealong the way. We should admit that Christ's kindness and truth are contrary tothe spirit and culture of the world. But Jesus and His followers do not giveup. The cross must indeed be borne and not cursed or thrown away. After thecross there is a victory, our resurrection. There will be eternal life. So we must be grateful and joyfulbecause Jesus Christ prepares us to face the worst situation in this world,arms us with His own peace. Imagine if he arms us for example with a sword orrifle, it could be that the current Christianity and the Church today might bethe worst human group in the world. Peace from Jesus is our real victory. Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... Lord Jesus Christ, fill our hearts with Your peace, that we can winour own souls and those of others, especially those who are against You and theChurch, and may Your Reign be exalted. Seorangremaja Katolik selalu menjadi sasaran bully teman-temannya di sekolah. Tetapiia ingat betul nasihat orang tua dan romo yang pernah ia minta masukannya.Remaja itu selalu memakai gambaran Tuhan Yesus yang dihina, disiksa, dandisalibkan, namun tidak pernah melawan. Yesus menghadapi semua itu dalam damai. Yesus melawan semua bentuk kekerasan dengan sejata damai dari Bapa-Nya.Para pengikut-Nya, seperti yang ditunjukkan oleh remaja tadi, disiapkan dengansedemikian untuk dapat mengalami segala bentuk penderitaan yang sudah Ia sendirialami. Para rasul terbukti siap menghadapi semuanya dan mereka tak gentar apapun, karena senjata damai jauh lebih kuat daripada senjata apa pun. Paulus danBarnabas menunjukkan itu ketika mereka membangun dan memperkuat eksistensiGereja dari satu tempat ke tempat yang lain. Gereja dan pengikut Kristus di segala tempat dan zaman hingga saat ini jugamenyadari bahwa nubuat Yesus tidak meleset, yaitu bahwa piala penderitaan yangIa telah minum, diminum juga oleh para pengikut-Nya. Senjata damai yang samatetap dipakai, dan kalimat terkenal yang selalu diulangi dalam perayaanEkaristi menegaskan keampuan senjata itu, “Damai Kutinggalkan bagimu, damai-KuKuberikan kepadamu.” Yesus Kristus berikan damai dari diri-Nya ini sebagai senjata yang sangatberguna, dan saat paling pas untuk memakainya ialah ketika kita berada dalamtekanan, bahaya dan ancaman dalam bentuk apa pun. Ia sudah menyiapkan kitadengan strategi ini. Ia sudah tahu bahwa yang akan terjadi bagi setiappengikut-Nya adalah rupa-rupa kesulitan dan penderitaan.  Bahkan kebaikan dan kebenaran apa pun yang diperbuat para pengikut itudalam nama Dia, penderitaan dan kesulitan bakal mereka terima. Karena kebaikandan kebenaran Kristus sangat bertentangan dengan semangat dunia dan budayanya.Tapi Yesus dan para pengikut-Nya tak menyerah dan takut. Salib memang harusdipikul dan bukan dikutuk atau dibuang. Setelah salib ada kemenangan. Adakebangkitan. Ada kehidupan kekal. Jadi kita mesti bersyukur dan merasa beruntung karena Yesus Kristus telahpersiapkan kita untuk menghadapi situasi terburuk di dunia ini, mempersenjataikita dengan damai dari diri-Nya sendiri. Bayangkan kalau ia persenjatai kitamisalnya dengan pedang atau senapan, bisa jadi profil Kristen saat ini mungkin menjadi yang terburuk didunia. Damai dari Yesus  sungguh menjadialat bagi kemenangan kita.Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa...Tuhan Yesus Kristus, penuhilah hati kami dengandamai dari diri-Mu sendiri, karena damai itulah yang dapat memenangkan jiwakami sendiri dan sesama, terutama yang memusuhi Dikau dan Gereja-mu, bagikemuliaan Allah yang maha tinggi. There was a boy who approached his father andasked a question as he said: "Father, if I am good at learning and smart,will I succeed?" The father replied: "It is not intelligence thatmakes a person successful in life, son, but his perseverance." To this boy's question, the Lord JesusChrist through the Gospel of today says that perseverance is more necessary.Jesus says that the Holy Spirit sent by Him is our comforter and teacher. TheHoly Spirit guides us, the disciples of Jesus, and we are required todiligently follow and learn to become perfect like our Master Jesus. In the guidance of the Holy Spirit, wedo not aim to become intelligent and successful persons. Because if we allbecome intelligent and smart, many of us might want to compete with the HolySpirit, or even the Holy Spirit becomes confused to guide and teach us. Therefore, the virtue that is veryimportant to us is perseverance or faithfulness, and not intelligence or smartness.The life expereince of the early Church proved that the apostles were not smartand intelligent persons. But because they were diligent and committed to JesusChrist, they were able to mature and master all the knowledge of Jesus Christand the Kingdom of God. Saints Paul and Barnabas were diligentby being steadfast in Jesus Christ and His gospel, even though they facedintelligent and scholarly minded persons from cultures that were totallydifferent from theirs. They showed perseverance as a very strong testimony, inorder to convince all newly baptized Christians that they could persevere infaith and made them steadfast in defending their faith in Jesus Christ. Perseverance must start from each of usbecause there is a willingness to achieve a goal that is good and right.Through a combination of diligence, focus and enthusiasm, one can achieve thedesired results. A person who is good at math because he has ever been andcontinues to work and explore that field. A soccer player is involved in allthe playing techniques constantly so he  then becomes a great player. Likewise, if we intend and commitourselves as sons and daughters of God, or as followers of Christ, we willsucceed in enjoying what Jesus says, namely to occupy a place in the house ofthe Father in heaven that has been provided for each one of us. Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... O Jesus Christ, we are so happy with Your Holy Spirit who is alwaysour comforter and teacher. Seoranganak mendekati bapaknya dan bertanya: “Pak, kalau aku pintar dalam belajar,apakah nanti aku pasti berhasil?.” Sang Bapak menjawab: “Bukan kepintaran yangmembuat seorang berhasil dalam hidupnya, nak, tetapi ketekunannya.”  Terhadap pertanyaan anak tersebut, Tuhan Yesus Kristus melalui injil hariini berkata bahwa ketekunan-lah yang lebih diperlukan. Yesus berkata bahwa RohKudus yang diutus-Nya adalah penghibur dan guru kita. Dan kita yang dibimbingoleh Roh Kudus adalah murid-murid yang mesti tekun mengikuti dan belajar dibawah bimbingan-Nya Di dalam bimbingan Roh Kudus, cita-cita kita bukan untuk menjadiorang-orang cerdas dan pandai. Sebab kalau kita semua ini menjadi cerdas danpandai, bisa jadi banyak diantara kita ingin menyaingi Roh Kudus, atau bahkanRoh Kudus menjadi bingung untuk membimbing dan mengajari kita. Jadi keutamaan yang penting sekali bagi kita ialah ketekunan atau perseverance, dan bukan kepandaian ataukecerdasan. Pengalaman hidup Gereja Perdana membuktikan bahwa para rasul itubukan orang pandai dan cerdas. Tetapi karena mereka tekun dan berkomitmenkepada Yesus Kristus, mereka dimampukan menjadi matang dan menguasai semua ilmutentang Yesus Kristus.  Paulus dan Barnabas tekun untuk teguh kepada Yesus Kristus dan Injil-Nya,biarpun mereka berhadapan dengan orang-orang pandai dan cerdas dari kultur yangberbeda sama sekali dari mereka. Mereka hadirkan ketekunan sebagai kesaksiansangat kuat, supaya meyakinkan semua orang Kristen yang baru dibaptis bahwahanya ketekunan dalam iman yang bisa membuat mereka bertahan dan bisa membelaimannya. Ketekunan itu harus mulai dari diri sendiri karena ada kemauan untukmencapai suatu tujuan yang baik dan benar. Melalui kombinasi kerajinan, fokus dan semangat, seseorang dapatmencapai hasil yang diinginkan. Orang yang pandai matematika karena ia pernahdan terus menerus tekuni bidang itu. Seorang atlit sepak bola tekuni semuateknik bermain terus-menerus maka ia menjadi pemain hebat.  Demikian juga jika kita tekuni diri kita sebagai putra dan putri Allah,atau sebagai pengikut Kristus, kita bakal berhasil menikmati apa yang dikatakanoleh Yesus, yaitu menduduki tempat di rumah Bapa di surga yang telah disediakanbagi kita masing-masing. Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... Ya Yesus Kristus, kami sangat gembira denganRoh Kudus-Mu yang senantiasa sebagai penghibur dan guru kami. Our current world of political,economical and social activities is facilitated with the use of cards. We usecards to help us in our relationship with others, to engage in works with otherpeople, and to do transactions of goods or services. Someone who uses a cardsignifies his or her identity is being represented by that card that revealsinformation or data about him or her.  Our identity cards serve to facilitateus in all legal processes of our engagement and works. With the student cards, informationabout the situation of students and their academic and non academic developmentcan be accessed. And there are still many other cards that we normally use asthe instruments of the state government to do reach-out programs to people. Privateinstitutions also do same to their members and clients. The card becomes anofficial ticket for anybody to enter and exit according to the rules that bind. To become disciples of Jesus Christ,the holy Church facilitates the validity of membership of all followers ofChrist with the card in accordance with the standards made by the Churchauthority. This aims to make sure that all affairs related to both spiritualand physical services by the Church to every member can follow what the rulesrequire. We call that card as the baptismal card or certificate. Many othertypes of certificates in the Catholic Church should always refer to thebaptismal card. Actually, there is meaning behind thecard of every member of the Church and all related certificates that signifythe spiritual element of the card. What lies behind the card or certificate isthe spirit that makes it so important and fundamental to every follower ofChrist. Jesus himself says about this in our Gospel reading today, namely thelove that He has taught us and He himself is the perfect model for us to follow.If every disciple of Jesus has this love, the Church as the community of thePeople of God can experience that same love that works and affects therelationship among members of the Church. So, Jesus really says the followingstatement: "People will know that you are My disciples, if you have lovefor one to another." The card of the disciples of Christ isthe powerful message to reach all people in the world. This had happenedthrough the work of Saints Paul and Barnabas during the time of the EarlyChurch in its initial development. They reached many areas and places, andtheir inhabitants professed the Christian faith to become the new members ofthe Church. This same works still exist in the Church of today. Every one whoalready has a disciple card, and those who will become new disciples, must keepthe spirit of love and eager to love one another. If we live in the spirit oflove, something new always happens. God is dwelling in our midst, in the centerof our lives.Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... Dunia kita saat ini, khususnya di bidang politik, ekonomi dan sosial,ditandai dengan penggunaan kartu-kartu. Kehidupan kita memfasilitasi hubunganantar manusia dan terlibatnya di antara mereka dalam kerja dan transaksibarang  dan jasa, direpresentasi dengankartu. Fungsi utama kartu ialah merepresentasi identitas kita sehingga aksestentang diri kita menjadi lebih cepat dan terbuka. Melalui kartu tanda penduduk, akses kepada diri kita dapat memfasilitasisemua proses legal dalam hidup kita di dalam masyarakat. Dengan kartu siswaatau mahasiswa, segala urusan akademik terkait dengan pribadi siswa ataumahasiswa diurus dengan mudah. Dan masih banyak kartu lain yang dipakai terkaitdengan pelayanan pemerintah kepada rakyatnya atau lembaga-lembaga kepada paraanggota dan kliennya. Kartu menjadi tiket resmi bagi seseorang untuk masuk dankeluar berdasarkan aturan-aturan yang mengikat dirinya. Untuk menjadi murid-murid Yesus Kristus, Gereja memfasilitasi adanyalegalitas keanggotaan murid-murid Yesus sesuai dengan standar yangditetapkannya. Fungsinya ialah supaya segala urusan berkaitan dengan pelayananbaik rohani maupun jasmani oleh Gereja terhadap setiap anggotanya mengikutiaturannya. Kita menamakan kartu sebagai murid Tuhan Yesus Kristus sebagai suratpermandian, dan bersamanya banyak jenis surat atau sertifikat lainnya yangmenjadikan surat baptis sebagai rujukan utama.  Sebenarnya, kartu murid Yesus dan semua sertifikat lain yang terkait itumerupakan elemen materi yang memiliki makna di baliknya, yang harus dipandangsebagai roh yang menjadikannya begitu penting bagi setiap orang. Roh atau intikartu murid Yesus ialah yang diungkapkan oleh Yesus sendiri di dalam Injil kitahari ini, yaitu seorang murid yang memiliki kasih. Jika setiap murid memilikikasih, maka yang terjadi di dalam hidup bersama ialah adanya saling mengasihi.Jadi Yesus sungguh berkata begini: “Orang-orang akan tahu bahwa kamu adalahmurid-murid-Ku yaitu jikalau kamu saling mengasih.” Kartu murid Yesus yang dimiliki oleh setiap pengikut Kristus diperkenalkandan dibagikan kepada orang-orang di seluruh pelosok bumi, antara lain dilakukanoleh Paulus dan Barnabas pada waktu Gereja Perdana mulai berkembang. Banyakwilayah yang mereka jangkau dan para penghuninya dijadikan anggota-anggotaGereja yang baru. Tugas seperti ini masih dijalankan oleh Gereja kita hinggasaat ini. Setiap orang yang sudah memiliki kartu murid Yesus, dan mereka yangakan menjadi murid-murid yang baru, diminta untuk tetap memiliki semangat cintakasih dan hidup bersama dengan saling mengasihi. Yesterday in the Gospel reading, inanswering the apostle Tomas' lack of understanding, Jesus answered by claimingHimself as our way to reach the Father. Today, the apostle Philip, whorepresents many of us, shows a lack of understanding and search to know whoreally the Father is. Jesus' answer is the most obvious and it'strully the key answer, because it shows the purpose of all our searches andwalks in this world. Jesus answered him by presenting the heavenly Father, soHe says: seeing Me, means seeing the Father, hearing Me, means hearing theFather, living with Me means living with the Father. The point is that theFather is in Me and I am in the Father. Father and I are one. The unity of the Father and the Sontakes place in a relationship of love, with communication between them, andthis relationship occurs in the Holy Spirit. Indeed, the answer given to Philipand all those who search the ultimate goal of life is the Trinity of God. Thereis no other answer more significant than this one. Meeting the Father in Jesusand in the untiy with the Holy Spirit had reinforced the commitment of theapostles, and they carried out this commitment till death. Jesus presents the Father to usmeaning the true reality of God. God looks on us with all kindness andcompassion, while we humans are taken up to His level that enables us to meetHim. At the moment of incarnation, the Trinity of God was present in the Sonconceived in the womb of the Virgin Mary, born and cared for in a humble familyof Nazareth. In all of Jesus' public ministry, the Trinity was also there towork for the redemption of mankind. At the end of our lives in the world, theTrinity in heaven welcomes us in eternal life as a sign of eternal salvationthat is available for all of us. For us as followers of Christ,questions like Philip and Tomas are naturally irrelevant. We are not in aposition to question whether we doubt about Jesus and the Father are one. Ourreal position is that we are Jesus' brothers and sisters. On that basis we aretaught the prayer of “Our Father” to be our fundamental prayer. This prayerreally makes us sons and daughters of the Father who is a very loving Father.Jesus is truly the good shepherd, because He knows what we need, namely to bethe beloved sons and daughters of the Father in Heaven.Let's pray. Kemarin dalam menjawab kekurang-pahaman rasul Tomas, Yesusmenunjuk diri-Nya sendiri sebagai perantara kita untuk sampai kepada Bapa. Hariini, rasul Filipus yang mewakili banyak di antara kita memperlihatkankekurang-pahaman dan pencariannya akan sosok Bapa seperti apa. Jawaban Yesus merupakan yang paling telak, kalau boleh dikatakan jawabankunci, karena memperlihatkan tujuan semua pencarian dan ziarah kita di duniaini. Yesus menjawab dengan menghadirkan Bapa sendiri, maka Ia berkata: melihatAku, berarti melihat Bapa, mendengar Aku, berarti mendengar Bapa, hidup bersamaAku berarti hidup bersama Bapa. Intinya ialah Bapa berada di dalam Aku dan Akudi dalam Bapa. Bapa dan Aku adalah satu. Persekutuan Bapa dan Putra itu terjadi dalam hubungan kasih dengankomunikasi di antara mereka, dan hubungan ini terjadi dalam Roh Kudus. Justrujawaban yang diberikan kepada Filipus dan semua orang yang mencari tujuanterakhir hidup ini ialah Tritunggal Allah. Tak ada jawaban lain lagi yangmelebih jawaban ini. Berjumpa Bapa dalam diri Yesus dan dalam persekutuan RohKudus telah mempertegas komitmen para rasul, dan mereka bertahan dengankomitmen sampai mati. Yesus menghadirkan Bapa kepada kita berarti tentang kenyataan Tuhan Allahsesungguhnya. Tuhan tampak dengan segala kemurahan dan belas kasih, sementarakita manusia tampak terangkat sampai pada level untuk berjumpa dengan Dia. Saatinkarnasi, Tritunggal hadir dalam Putra yang dikandung dalam rahim PerawanMaria, dilahirkan dan diasuh dalam sebuah keluarga bersahaja. Dalam seluruhpelayanan publik Yesus, Tritunggal juga ada di sana untuk bekerja bagipenebusan umat manusia. Di penghujung karya di dunia, Tritunggal di surgamenyambut kita dalam kehidupan abadi sebagai tanda keselamatan kekal yang sudahtersedia abadi bagi kita. Bagi kita sebagai pengikut Kristus, pertanyaan seperti Filipus dan Tomassewajarnya tidak relevan. Kita bukan dalam posisi untuk mempertanyakan bahkanmeragukan apakah Yesus dan Bapa adalah satu. Posisi kita sesungguhnya adalahsaudara dan saudari Yesus. Atas dasar itulah kita diajarkan doa Bapa Kami untukmenjadi doa kita yang fundamental. Doa itu sungguh menjadikan kita anak-anakatau putra dan putri Bapa yang maha baik. Yesus adalah sungguh gembala yangbaik, karena Dia tahu yang kita butuhkan: menjadi putra-putri kesayangan Bapadi Surga. Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... We humans feel comfortable when weengage in our interpersonal relationships with one another. Whereas we feelbeing welcomed or at home when we relate to the environtment around and thingswe have or use. For example, you feel comfortable with friends near you, and atthe same time you feel at home in the atmosphere of cooperation and peaceenvironment. The Lord Jesus as our good shepherdgives us comfort and feeling at home in such context. Jesus makes uscomfortable with Him and our fellow believers. Jesus makes us feel at home inHis house, the Church, also in relation with all His teachings andcommandments. The very fitting expression for this is what Jesus says today inthe Gospel reading: do not let your heart be troubled, have faith in God, havefaith also in Me. With My Father and Me, everything will be at home andcomfortable. But not everyone agrees about beingcomfortable and at home in Christ. There are always people who don'timmediately understand. There can also be different interpretations. Forexample, the apostle Tomas asked in this way, “Show us what you are saying!”Then Jesus so convincingly said: I am the way, the truth and the life. Thisassertion is sufficient enough to overcome that doubt. Jesus empowers the ministers of theChurch to comfort and make every believer in the Church feel at home. Like theApostle Peter, Saint Paul also had the teaching authority to preach all thetruths about Jesus Christ. This really comforted and gave feeling at home toall those who listened to his preaching, especially the Gentiles or non-Jewishbelievers who were very critical and skeptical. They could accept Paul'steachings and eventually chose to become followers of Christ. Then the question to be raised aboutthis would be: who is the most responsible to provide a comfortable and feelingat home experience of one's life? For sure it is not God and the Churchleaders. They will always give attention and care to all of us out of love.Being comfortable and at home is not their primary concern. So, feelingcomfortable and at home must be first created by each one of us. It is the same with the fact of lifewhen we reject or accept our father and mother. They are God's gift to each ofus. But about being comfortable with your own father and mother, it is your ownresponsibility. You and I have to create it. Feeling at home and comfortablewith God and the Church must be our duty to make it.Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... Rasa nyaman kita sebagai manusia selalu terkait dengan hubungan antarpribadi satu dengan yang lain. Sedangkan rasa betah kita lebih terkait dengansuasana di sekeliling dan hal atau barang yang kita pakai. Misalnya Anda merasanyaman dengan teman-teman di dekatmu, dan pada saat yang sama Anda juga betah dengansuasana kerja sama dan lingkungannya yang tenang. Tuhan Yesus sebagai gembala yang baik memberikan kita rasa nyaman dan betahdalam konteks seperti itu. Yesus membuat kita nyaman bersama Dia dan sesamaorang beriman. Yesus membuat kita betah berada di dalam rumah-Nya, yaituGereja, juga dengan semua pengajaran dan perintah-Nya. Ungkapan yang sangat pasuntuk ini ialah yang dikatakan Yesus pada hari ini: jangan gelisah hatimu,percayalah kepada Allah, percayalah kepada-Ku. Bersama Bapa-Ku dan Aku, semuapasti menjadi betah dan nyaman. Tetapi tak semua orang sepakat tentang menjadi nyaman dan betah dalamKristus. Selalu ada orang yang tak langsung paham. Bisa juga ada interpretasiyang berbeda. Misalnya rasul Thomas bertanya, tunjukkan dong persisnya sepertiapa? Lalu Yesus dengan sangat meyakinkan berkata: Aku adalah jalan, kebenarandan kehidupan. Penegasan ini sudah cukup pas untuk mengatasi keraguan itu. Yesus memberikan kuasa kepada para pelayan Gereja untuk menciptakan rasanyaman dan betah ini bagi setiap Umat Allah. Seperti Petrus, Santo Paulus jugaberdiri pada level otoritas pengajaran yang sama, berkotbah tentang semuakebenaran dalam Yesus Kristus. Ini sungguh memberikan rasa nyaman dan betahbagi semua pendengarnya, terutama kaum non-Yahudi yang kafir yang sangat kritisdan skeptis. Mereka bisa menerima pengajaran Paulus dan akhirnya memilih untukmenjadi pengikut Kristus. Lalu pertanyaannya ialah, siapakah yang paling bertanggug jawab dengan rasanyaman dan betah ini? Yang jelas bukan Tuhan dan para pemimpin Gereja yangbertanggung jawab. Mereka memberikan perhatian dan kasih sayang hanya karenacinta. Menjadi nyaman dan betah bukan pertama-tama urusan mereka. Jadi rasanyaman dan betah itu harus pertama-tama diciptakan oleh kita masing-masing.  Hal ini sama dengan kenyataan bahwa kita yang mengalami apakah menolak ataumenerima bapa dan ibu kita sendiri. Mereka adalah karunia Tuhan bagi kitamasing-masing. Tapi hal tentang rasa nyaman dengan bapa dan ibu sendiri, ituadalah tanggung jawab kita sendiri. Anda dan saya harus menciptakannya. Rasabetah dan nyaman dengan Tuhan dan Gereja harus kita ciptakan dan pertahankan. Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa ... Our Good Shepherd Jesus Christilluminates the world and our hearts with His word. If the Word only reachesthe human ears, the work of evangelization is still like a half ripe fruit.From hearing, we need to proceed to the level of understanding. God continuesto help us understand Him, that is, His words begin from our hearing then cometo the point of our understanding of them. From the Sacrament of Baptism we havebeen endowed with the power of the Holy Spirit and through the Sacrament ofConfirmation we have received the fullness of the Spirit. One of the gifts ofthe Spirit that we have received is  thegift of understanding. In today's Gospel reading, Jesus our Good Shepherdteaches us that by understanding His teaching we become the blessed ones. He isso pleased with people who not only listen, but also understand. Becausethrough understanding one's character grows and from there come his or her actsand the life itself shines out. It does not mean that there is notenough understanding in every human being, or in a group of people and culture.What is often a problem is that human understanding is limited and tends tovary in perceiving different things. Especially in the teachings of certainbeliefs, the danger of lack of understanding and different interpretationsoften results in conflicts and clashes between us. This really became the experience ofSaint Paul. He had experienced how Jesus made himself a new person. His thoughtand understanding changed from the old type of belief. Then it was his turn toenlighten the minds and understanding of those who knew nothing about JesusChrist. Often our work of explaining to people who know nothing in order toobtain a proper understanding of something or a new thing becomes an easy thingto do. But it will be very hard to do the same to people who already have theirown thoughts and understanding. For us, our understanding of the LordJesus Christ and His teachings indeed already has certain measures of qualityfrom one person to another. However, the work of enlightening and deepening ourunderstanding of Him and His teachings is something else. Then how do we do it?Maybe this suggestion is very simple, but who knows it can be very useful.Students in school have to read one textbook ten times to face the test, ratherthan reading ten books once then do the test. So it would be the same thing, wehave to meet and learn from Jesus over and over, again and again. It isineffective if only occasionally or rarely. Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... Our good Lord, we thank you abundantly for your Son Jesus Christ,our good shepherd. He enlightens and refreshes our understanding to knowHimself and You as the Lord who sent Him. Sang Gembala Yesus Kristus menerangi dunia dan hati kita denganfirman-Nya. Jika firman itu hanya sampai pada telinga manusia, pekerjaanevangelisasi itu masih sangat mentah. Dari mendengar, kita perlu melanjutkanprosesnya sampai kepada pengertian. Tuhan terus membantu untuk membuat kitamengerti Dia, yaitu firman-Nya yang disampaikan itu dapat kita pahami.  Sejak pembaptisan kita dicurahkan Roh Kudus dan malalui Penguatan kitadiurapi kepenuhan-Nya. Salah satu karunia yang diberikan kepada kita ialahpengertian. Di dalam Injil pada hari ini Tuhan Yesus gembala yang baikmengajarkan kita bahwa dengan mengerti pengajaran-Nya kita menjadi orang-orangyang terberkati. Dia sangat berkenan kepada orang-orang yang tidak hanyamendengarkan, tetapi juga mengerti. Sebab melalui pengertian itulah sikap orangterbentuk dan dari sana ia mulai bersikap dan bertindak.  Tidak berarti bahwa tak ada pengertian pada setiap manusia, kelompok orangatau sebuah kultur. Yang sering menjadi soal ialah bahwa pengertian manusiaterbatas dan cenderung berbeda-beda pemahaman akan sesuatu hal. Apalagi dalamsoal ajaran iman tertentu, bahaya kurang pengertian dan penafsiran yangberbeda-beda sering berakibat pada konfllik dan bentrok di antara kita.  Hal ini sungguh menjadi pengalaman Santo Paulus. Ia telah alami bagaimanaYesus membuat pemikiran dan pengertiannya menjadi baru. Kini giliran dia untukmencerahkan pikiran dan pengertian orang-orang yang belum tahu apa-apa tentangYesus Kristus. Sering urusan menjelaskan orang-orang dari tidak tahu untukmendapatkan suatu pengertian dasar akan suatu ajaran baru menjadi tugas yanglebih muda. Sedangkan akan sulit sekali melakukan yang sama kepada orang-orangyang sudah punya pemikiran dan pengertian tersendiri.  Bagi kita, pengertian tentang Tuhan Yesus Kristus dan segala hal mengenaiiman kita memang sudah ada dengan ukuran berbeda-beda dari seorang ke oranglain. Tetapi urusan mencerahkan atau menyegarkan pengertian itu merupakan suatuhal yang lain. Lalu bagaimana caranya? Mungkin usulan ini sangatlah sederhana,tapi siapa tahu bisa sangat berguna. Anak sekolah harus membaca satu bukupelajaran sepuluh kali untuk bisa hadapi ujian, daripada membaca sepuluh bukusatu kali saja. Maka hal yang sama, kita mesti bertemu dan belajar pada Yesusberulang dan banyak kali. Tidak efektif kalau hanya sesekali atau jarang. Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... Ya Allah maha baik, terima kasih berlimpah atasPutra-Mu Yesus Kristus yang menjadi gembala yang baik bagi kami. Ia mencerahkandan menyegarkan pengertian kami untuk semakin mengetahui diri-Nya dan Dikausebagai Tuhan yang mengutus Dia. Acts of the Apostles 1: 15-17.20-26; Rs psalm 113: 1-2.3-4.5-6.7-8; John 15: 9-17.MATIAS SOLUTION The title for our meditation today is:Matias Solution. It is said in the Acts of the Apostle, the first reading oftoday, Matthias is the chosen apostle to complete the 11 existing apostles, toreplace Judas Iscariot. According to St. Peter, Judas the traitor was theleader of those who arrested Jesus. With this complementary act, the number ofleaders of the early Church was back to perfect with number 12. The task to complete is the solution.It is not just a supplement or just a spare part and a backup section. It hasthe quality to be a determine factor. Peter says about this quality, that the12 qualified apostles were the witnesses in all of Jesus' events, from John'sbaptism until Jesus ascended into heaven. The complementary role here is veryimportant. He was the key point. He became the determinant of an incompletestructure of the community. If without him, the structure was limp, defective,and useless. His role was as important as the other apostles, namely, being thewitness of the resurrection of Christ. A concrete comparison would be thestructure of the 12 apostles and the Pope with the colleage of bishops of theChurch. Their common duty is to be the sign of communion in the Church. ThePope takes the position of the apostle Peter and the bishops who lead thedioceses are the apostles. They are leaders who are the first to give usexample of fellowship and being in the community. God wants and providesfullness and completeness as an absolute condition for all our hopes. If thereis still a hole or deficiency, it means it is not complete, still lacking,imperfect, and not yet meet the will of God. The Lord Jesus wants to share theriches of heavenly gifts with the apostles and all those who believe in Him, sothat all of them would obtain the fullness of joy. As Jesus left the apostlesand the Church to go up to heaven, that fullness of joy was manifested in theexperience of peace, certainty and being courageous to live in the midst of theworld while not having Jesus' presence physically. The principal condition isto stay in His love. The word "do not be afraid" means to live in Hislove and be always with Him. The Holy Spirit is sent from Heaven tomake life full of joy and love. Love and joy surely overcome fear, worry,anxiety and prejudicial. They were strengthened, like when we received theSacrament of Confirmation! In the same way, as Jesus makes every one of us Histrully friends, He certainly makes us full and complete with joy. We need tothank Saint Matias for inspiring us on this day of his feast. Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... Menurut Santo Petrus, Yudas si pengkhianat adalah pemimpinorang-orang yang menangkap Yesus. Dengan panggilan melengkapi itu, jumlah parapemimpin Gereja perdana itu lengkap atau genap menjadi 12. Tugas untuk melengkapi adalah bukan sekedarpelengkap atau hanya ban serep dan cadangan. Ia punya kualitas sebagai penentu.Petrus berkata bahwa kualitas itu ialah sudah dikenal bersama ke-12 rasul dansebagai saksi dalam seluruh kejadian Yesus dari pembaptisan Yohanes sampaiYesus naik ke surga. Peran melengkapi di sini sangatlah penting. Ia sebagaikartu as. Ia menjadi penentu untuk sebuah struktur persekutuan yang tidaklengkap. Jika tanpa dia, struktur itu pincang, cacat, dan tidak bergunasebagaimana mestinya. Perannya sama penting dengan rasul lain, yaitu, menjadisaksi bersama para rasul lainnya tentang kebangkitan Kristus, dan melengkapibilangan sebelas yang sudah ada. Sebuahperbandingan konkret yaitu menaru sejajar antara ke-12 rasul dengan Paus danpara Uskup Gereja. Kesamaan tugas mereka ialah menjadi tanda persekutuan atauComunio dalam Gereja. Paus itu adalah Petrus dan para Uskup yang memimpinkeuskupan adalah para rasul. Para pemimpin harus menjadi yang pertama sebagaiteladan persekutuan. Tuhan menghendaki dan menetapkan kepenuhan dan kelengkapansebagai syarat mutlak bagi persektuan kita. Kalau masih ada lobang ataukekurangan berarti tidak utuh, tidak lengkap, tidak genap, dan tidak memenuhikehendak-Nya.  Tuhan Yesushendak berbagi kekayaan karunia ilahi kepada para rasul dan semua orang yangdikasihi-Nya, supaya mereka semua memperoleh sukacita yang penuh. Yesusmeninggalkan para rasul dan Gereja untuk naik ke surga, suka cita yang penuhitu adalah rasa nyaman, yakin dan begitu berani untuk hidup di tengah duniasambil tidak mengalami Yesus secara fisik di dunia. Syaratnya ialah supayatinggal di dalam kasih-Nya. Sabda “jangan takut”, berarti hidup di dalam kasih danbersama Dia.  Roh Kudus akandiutus dari Surga untuk membuat hidup itu penuh dengan suka cita dan kasih.Cinta dan suka cita pasti mengalahkan ketakutan, kekuatiran, kegelisahan danprasangka buruk. Mereka dikuatkan, seperti menerima Sakramen Krisma! Demikianjuga kalau Yesus menjadikan tiap-tiap dari kita sahabat-Nya, itu sungguhmembuat suka cita penuh dan lengkap. When the shepherd loves the smellof all sheep, there is a fact that the unity of God's people is made by thescattered individuals and communities of believers everywhere in the world, andall of these put their faith in Jesus Christ as the center of their lives. Heis the Shepherd for all. All children of God identify themselveswith Jesus Christ as the Lord who shepherds them day and night. This identification has its beginning, which was themoment for the first time the word "Christian" being used about thetime after Christ rose from the dead, or more precisely after the conversion ofSaint Paul. A prominent figure and disciple of the Lord named Barnabas whoworked in a team with the apostle Paul and the Church in Antioch were the firstones to use this identification. Along with the growth of the Church, thisChristian name spread from one place to another to reach the entire world.Throughout the world, all the followers of Christ with various backgroundsidentify themselves with this name "Christian". According to Saint Ignatius of Antioch,who was once the bishop of the city, where there is a Christian community,somewhere in or outside the city, and as this community is led by a bishop asits shepherd, this Christian community is called Catholic. The Catholics areeverywhere found on this earth both as individuals and as families orcommunities. When they meet somewhere  in any context of life, with or without external symbols such as crucifix orthe rosary used, there is always a sense of unity, togetherness, andconnectedness with one another that is felt and manifested. The hearts of thesame faith can connect easily and they feel the needfor unity. For example, a priest told his ownexperience about meeting a Catholic during one of his trips abroad. When he wasat the airpot of Dubai, the Middle East, waiting for the transit plane, he hada chance to meet someone from Russia who is a Catholic. Their conversationdeveloped into a friendship. The Russian man then humbly asked for confessionand blessing, saying that he badly needed some spiritual power at thatparticular moment of his life. When seeing an athlete makes the sign of thecross while playing on the field, viewers around the world spontaneously makesort of a Catholic connection with the player. These are just few examples tounderstand that the word "Catholic" indeed has a universal value anda unifying force . The spread of the followers of Christeverywhere in the world does not endanger the fact that people are different ormay harm unity in the community. Instead it strengthens relationand connection among the Catholics because Jesus Christ himself holds the unityof this community to His heart and He himself leads the community. There aretwo statements of Jesus today that signify His duty to protect and lead all thesheep. First is this: "I know them and they follow me". This iscertainly not just a matter of having knowledge of another person, but itspeaks about the dynamic of life between the Shepherd and the flock. Second isthis: "No one can take them from My hands". Jesus Christ indeed takescontrolls over all His sheep. His duty is to save all.  Let's pray. In the name of the Father... Ketika para gembala suka dengan bau semua dombanya,di situ terdapat kenyataan bahwa persekutuan umat Allah itu tersebar dimana-mana, dan semua itu harus menjadikan Kristus sebagai pusat hidup mereka.  Yesus Kristus menjadi identitas mereka semua dan Ia tetapsebagai satu gembala utama. Identitas itu mulai definitif dengan dipakai namaKristen pertama kali beberapa tahun setelah Kristus bangkit, atau lebih tepatsetelah pertobatan Santo Paulus. Tokoh dan murid Tuhan terpandang yang bernamaBarnabas bersama Paulus dan Gereja di Antiokhia pertama kali memakai identitasini. Perlahan tapi meyakinkan, nama Kristen ini menyebar dari satu tempat ketempat lain hingga mencapai ke pelosok dunia. Di seluruh dunia terdapat semuapengikut Kristus yang berbeda-beda. Menurut Santo Ignasius dari Antiokhia, yang pernah sebagaiUskup di kota itu, di mana terdapat satu persekutuan umat Kristen, entah disuatu kampung entah di suatu kota, dan mereka dipimpin oleh seorang Uskup ataugembala agung, persekutuan Kristen itu dinamakan Katolik. Keberadaan umatKatolik tampak di setiap pelosok bumi dan ketika setiap orang Katolik bertemu,entah di mana dan dalam konteks apa saja di muka bumi ini, selalu ada rasabersatu, bersama dan terkoneksi satu sama lain. Mereka dapat menyambung hatimereka yang seiman. Misalnya, seorang Romo bercerita bahwa ketika sedangtransit pesawat di Timur Tengah, ia sempat berkenalan dengan seorang dari Rusiayang beragama Katolik. Pembicaraan mereka berkembang menjadi sebuah pertemanan.Pria dari Rusia tersebut kemudian dengan rendah hati meminta pengakuan dosa danberkat dari Romo. Ketika melihat seorang atlet membuat tanda salib saat beradadi lapangan, para penonton di seluruh dunia segera membuat sebuah rasake-Katolikan dengan pemain tersebut. Ini merupakan beberapa contoh untukmemahami bahwa kata “Katolik” itu sangat universal dan mempersatukan. Tersebarnya para pengikut Kristus di mana saja di duniaini, tidak mengurangi semangat persekutuan itu, tetapi justru menguatkankoneksi satu sama lain, karena Yesus Kristus sendiri sangat menjamin untukmenjaga persekutuan ini. Ada dua pernyataan Yesus hari ini yang sangat kuatmaknanya, yaitu “Aku mengenal mereka dan mereka mengikut Aku”. Ini adalahsebuah pengakuan kepemilikan Yesus atas para pengikut-Nya. Kedua ialah “Takseorang pun yang dapat mengambil mereka dari tangan-Ku”. Yesus Kristus sangat menjamin,tersebarnya para pengikut di seluruh muka bumi dan Dia tetaplah satu gembalasejak saat itu. Marilah kita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... Pope Francis once said about becomingshepherd and gave a reminder to the whole Church, specifically an address tothe bishops and priests, that they must have smell like their sheep. This expressionof the Pope has always been quoted and referred to by various elements withinthe Catholic Church. The Pope is actually teaching us about faith that involvesand communicates with the real life of every Christian.  The point is that the duty ofleadership and service do not put people only in offices, homes, behind tables,in discussion forums, meetings and planning. To imitate our true Shepherd JesusChrist, we must be able to become shepherd like Him. The following illustrationcan help us to ponder on the idea about shepherd. There were four children in a family. Theywere two girls and two boys. They really admired and loved their parents. Everyone of them testified that their father and mother loved so much each of thechildren personally and treat each one according to his and her circumstanceand character. Every one of them said that in choosing a spouse for marriage, eitherboy or girl should have similarity to their own father and mother. The boyfriends should have something similiar the girls' father. The girl friends alsoto the boys' mother. The shepherd smells of the sheep islike in the story above of the father and mother who did big sacrifice to theirchildren. As the sheep receive help and care, they really feel what is being athome, loved, and developed. First of all because the helpers or shepherds actlike Jesus. They do not choose people to help. They treat everyone personallyand give attention to all with love. This is a concrete way for a shepherd tohave smell like the sheep. The shepherd comes into the concrete conditions andexperiences that each and everyone has in their own lives. The highlight message about the goodshepherd who have smell of the sheep is on the truth that God does not disgustsand gives up on the smell of the sheep that are close to him. God even likesthe smell of the sheep. The different smells of the sheep obviously come fromevery walk of life, but the Lord pleases all of them and He will transform themto become fragrance gift because of His love and mercy. The sheep are not onlyin the sheepfold, but also outside of it, all of them will take pasture andshelter in Jesus Christ. Saint Peter, as told in the Acts of the Apostlestoday, also did the same thing. He succeeded in bringing people who wereoutside the borders of the Jewish territory to become members of the EarlyChurch. The shepherd that smells of the sheephas not been realized perfectly at this time of our life. We should continue topray and hope that the chosen shepherds, those who are ordained and the commonshepherds of the faithful, make this a project of lief in bringing many othersheep into the Church. All their smells must attract us to bring them toChrist. Let us pray ... In the name ofthe Father ... Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen us with Your spirit so that we canbecome good sheep and be able to bring other sheep to come to You and enjoy yourpresence. Hail Mary full of grace ... Ajarannya itu sampai kini selalu menjadikutipan berbagai pihak di dalam Gereja Katolik. Paus sedang mengajarkan tentangiman yang terlibat dan menyatu dengan hidup yang nyata. Maksudnya ialah supaya tugas kepemimpinan dan pelayanan itu tidak meluluhmenempatkan orang di dalam kantor, rumah, di belakang meja, di forum diskusi,rapat dan perencanaan. Seperti Yesus Kristus sang Gembala sejati, siapa punkita yang mengikuti Dia, mesti dapat meneladani-Nya. Hal ini diungkapkan olehempat orang anak, dua perempuan dan dua laki-laki kakak-beradik. Mereka sangatmengagumi dan mengidolakan kedua orang tuanya. Masing-masing bersaksi bahwabapak  dan ibunya mengasihi setiapanaknya secara pribadi dan memperlakukan masing-masingnya sesuai keadaan dankarakternya. Masing-masingnya mengatakan bahwa nanti memilih jodoh, profilwanita atau pria pasangannya kurang lebih mengikuti pribadi bapak dan ibunyasendiri.  Ciri gembala yang berbau dombanya adalah seperti yang dilakukan oleh bapakdan ibu tadi.  Orang atau pihak yangdilayani diberikan rasa betah, dikasihi, dan dimajukan.   Pertama-tama karena mereka berbuat sepertiYesus, yang tidak memilih-milih orang untuk dilayani. Perlakuan setiap orangsecara pribadi dan perhatian kepada semua yang memerlukan kasih, merupakan carakonkret seorang gembala mengalami bau dombanya. Kondisi dan pengalaman konkretsetiap dan semua orang yang diperhatikan atau dilayani, dirasakan dan dimilikijuga si pelayan atau pekerja.  Nilai spesial untuk gembala yang baik yang berbau dombanya, ialah bahwaTuhan tak jijik dan menyerah dengan bau domba-domba yang diperhatikan. Diamalah suka dengan bau domba-domba itu. Bau mereka yang berbeda-beda itu sangatdisukai dan nantinya diubah dalam keharuman kasih dan kerahimanNya. Domba-dombabukan hanya di dalam kandang, tetapi juga di luar kandang, semuanyadigembalakan oleh Yesus. Demikian juga santo Petrus yang berhasil membawa orangorang yang di luar batas teritori Yahudi, untuk menjadi anggota Gereja Perdana. Gembala yang berbau dombanya belum semuanya terealisasi saat ini. Kita hendaknyatetap berdoa dan berharap supaya para gembala khusus, yaitu yang tertahbis dangembala umum umat beriman, menjadikan ini sebagai tantangan dalam membawabanyak domba lainnya ke dalam Gereja. Semua bau mereka mesti menarik kita semuamembawa mereka kepada Kristus.Marilah kita berdoa... Dalam nama Bapa...Tuhan Yesus Kristus,perkuatkanlah kami dengan semangat-Mu supaya kami dapat menjadi domba-dombayang baik dan  dapat membawa domba-dombalain untuk datang kepada-Mu dan menikmati suka cita di dalam Dikau.  Salam Maria penuh rahmat ... Today, according to the traditionof the holy Church, we celebrate the Good Shepherd Sunday. The Churchcelebrates this with the activities of promotion of vocations. We allunderstand that priests and ministers of the Church today are the fruits of aprocess of formation of those who are called. They are men and women who haveanswered God's call to become priests or religious persons. The word “shepherd” comes from theLatin word “pastor”. It refers to the person of Jesus Christ, the profile ofthe greatest and primary Shepherd. Jesus says about His identity as the GoodShepherd in the today's Gospel reading. He says this primarily as a missionthat comes for the Father. He then makes all of us His sheep who find pasture inthe world. For us in the Catholic Church, the mission of Jesus Christ as ashepherd is a participatory work, which means that those who are chosen to takepart in the mission of Jesus. That is why in the Church itself Jesus Christ andthe Church authority entrust the mission to all the faithful and every one ofus. This participation is manifested inseveral levels. The Pope occupies the position of the apostle Peter, who is theVicar of Jesus Christ and the bishops who represent the positions and works ofthe apostles; this refers to the first level of shepherds. They take importantrole and responsibility of shepherding the entire Church. The Lord entrusts tothem the leadership of the Universal Church as well as the Local Church. The secondlevel that follows is the priests who participate in the priesthood of theirbishop. There are diocesan clergies who work in their respective dioceses andreligious priests who work through the mission of their respective order orcongregations. The next level that is broaderincludes religious men and women, who also have missions in building up theChurch, helping out the Church's mission and becoming witnesses to the existenceof the Kingdom of God on earth. And the more broadly level is every one and allfollowers of Christ. Every baptized Christian has the responsibility to be inthe community with his or her fellow Chirstians and  to accompany and look after someone else.Every one is baptized to be the shepherd for others. He or she participates in thework of Jesus Christ. According to the inspiration oftoday's liturgical readings, the shepherd's care to the sheep can be summarizedinto three points. First, the shepherd knows his sheep. Getting to know andunderstand others are the expression of love and care. Second, the best qualityof shepherd's care to the sheep is if he or she sacrifices himself or herselffor the salvation of others. Third, the shepherd focuses his or her attentionto give comfort and safety for the souls of those whom he or she loves. So, weas the followers of Christ are called and formed in the whole journey of faithin this world to be the shepherds. Christ will enable us to become shepherdsand His partners.Let's pray. Hari ini, menurut tradisi Gereja adalah hari Minggu Gembalayang Baik. Gereja merayakanan ini dengan kegiatan Minggu panggilan. Kita semuapaham bahwa para gembala dan pelayanan Gereja dan Masyarakat merupakan buahdari sebuah proses pembinaan orang-orang terpilih dan terpanggil. Mereka adalahpria dan wanita yang ingin menjawab panggilan Tuhan secara khusus yang disebutpanggilan imamat dan hidup membiara. Kata gembala dari bahasa Latin pastor, dan bahasa Inggris shepherd, menunjukpada diri Yesus Kristus, Gembala agung dan utama. Yesus mengatakan sendiritentang ini dalam Injil Yohanes pada hari ini. Ia lalu jadikan kita semuadomba-domba gembalaan-Nya. Bagi kita di dalam Gereja Katolik, misi YesusKristus sebagia gembala menjadi sebuah tugas partisipatif, yang berarti bahwamereka yang terpilih itu mengambil bagian dalam misi Yesus sendiri. Itulahmengapa kita memiliki Gereja dan ada perutusan yang diberikan Yesus dan Gereja. Partisipasi ini berwujud pada beberapa tingkat. Paus yang menggantikanposisi rasul Petrus, para Uskup yang menggantikan para rasul dapat kita katakanmereka adalah para gembala lingkaran pertama yang melanjutkan penggembalaanYesus Kristus. Sampai saat ini mereka menduduki tahta kepemimpinan GerejaUniversal dan Gereja Lokal. Jabatan yang menyusul ialah para imam yangberpartisipasi dalam tugas imamat Uskupnya. Ada imam diosesan yang bekerja dikeuskupan masing-masing dan imam tarekat yang bekerja melalui perutusan tarekatmasing-masing.  Tingkat yang lebih luas ialah para biarawan dan biarawati, yang jugamemiliki perutusan dalam membesarkan Gereja, merawatnya dan sebagai saksi hidupKerajaan Allah. Dan yang lebih luas lagi ialah setiap orang pengikut Kristusyang memiliki tanggung jawab untuk berada bersama, menemani dan menjaga sesamadi sekitarnya. Setiap orang dibaptis untuk menjadi gembala bagi sesamanya yanglain. Ia harus berpartisipasi pada penggembalaan Kristus. Menurut inspirasi bacaan liturgi hari ini, perhatian gembala kepadadomba-dombanya dapat diringkaskan menjadi tiga. Pertama, gembala mengenaldomba-dombanya. Mengenal, mengetahui dan memahami merupakan bentuk-bentuk kasihsayang dan perhatian.  Kedua, perhatiangembala yang lebih tinggi derajat dan kualitasnya ialah kalau ia berkorban demikebaikan dan keselamatan orang-orang yang disayanginya. Ketiga, gembala peduliakan kenyamanan dan keselamatan jiwa mereka yang ia perhatikan. Jadi, kitasebagai pengikut Kristus yang terpanggil dan terbentuk dalam seluruh perjalananiman di dunia ini adalah gembala. Kristus sendiri yang akan memampukan kitauntuk menjadi gembala.Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa ... Ya Allah dan Tuhan kami, jadikanlah kamidomba-domba yang benar dan baik di dalam Gereja-Mu. Bapa kami yang ada di surga... Dalam nama Bapa ...

Acts of the Apostles 9: 31-42; Rs psalm 116: 12-13.14-15.16-17; John 6: 60-69.THE BREAD OF LIFE SUSTAINS US TO GOFORWARD The title for our meditation today is:The Bread of Life Sustains Us to Go Forward. The horse of the priest from alocal parish could only eat at certain stops, because there was food and drinkavailable to it. The priest, during his pastoral visit to the mission stationsin mountains, sat on the horse's back along with a number of other items kept inseveral sacks. The horse was the friend of the priestin the journey. Although tired and hungry, the horse was able to avade temptationto stop and look for food or drink. The available food and drink for the horsewere in the village, a place that was familiar to. The food and drink motivatedthe horse to walk in the same direction and it was impossible for it to changethe course. The horse did not care about the burden carried and how fatigue itwas. The horse only knew that later when arriving at the place intended tothere was always food and drink available to satisfy all hunger and thirst. Jesus Christ as our bread of lifekeeps us going forward as the one and holy Church to certain goal that His willand power had prepared for us. Like food that motivated the horse to go on, JesusChrist, our Guide and Teacher encourages and sustains us to go on and stay inHis company along the journey of salvation. He makes himself our everlasting foodand drink. Teaching and welcoming new membersinto the Church, repentance and self-renewal, healing as the apostle Peter didin today's reading, and building community, all these reflect how we as theChurch with all her members move forward to realize the works and mission ofJesus Christ. The Church must move and walk forward. Jesus Christ as our bread of lifeshould encourage, urge and even demanding when it comes to the need of changefrom old to new life. Eating the Body and drinking the Blood of Jesus Christare the same as using Jesus Christ in our bodies and souls so that His Holy Spiritalways controls us. The consequence is there, that we must do His will. Many people with freedom,responsibility and optimism accept that consequence with joy. Thay is why theEarly Church grew rapidly in numbers and they all expressed a deep gratitude forthis new experience of faith. This Church continued to grow until it becomesthe one and holy Church as of today. Our Church today remains following thepath of Jesus Christ and continue to move forward. But some people are having trouble inthe journey of salvation. They decline in their faith orientation. They preferanother path to follow. There are some members of the Church today reject theteachings of Christ and the Holy Church because for them, becoming member ofthe Church is too hard and demanding. Therefore, they take their own way tofind salvation. We hope that we are not included in this type.Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... O Lord our God, praise and thank you for Jesus Christ Your son whois our way, truth and life. We hope we will be loyal to him now and forever.Our Father who art in heaven ... Kisah Para Rasul 9: 31-42; Mazmur tg 116: 12-13.14-15.16-17; Yohanes 6: 60-69.ROTI HIDUPMENDORONG UNTUK BERJALAN MAJU Tema renungan kita pada hari ini ialah: Roti Hidup Mendorong Untuk BerjalanMaju. Kuda seorang romo hanya dapat makan di tempat perhentian tertentu, karenadi sana ada makanan dan minuman tersedia baginya. Romo, ketika kunjunganpastoral ke pegunungan, duduk di punggung kuda bersama juga sejumlah baranglain dalam beberapa karung.  Kuda sebagai teman perjalanan romo. Meski capai dan lapar, ia tak tergodauntuk berhenti dan mencari makan atau minuman. Jatah makan dan minumnya ada dikampung, tempat yang sudah dikenalinya. Makanan dan minuman itulah yangmemotivasi kuda untuk berjalan terus dalam arah yang sama dan tak mungkin iaberganti haluan. Kuda tak peduli beban yang dibawa dan keletihan yangmenderanya. Ia hanya tahu bahwa nanti pas berhenti ada makanan yang tersediabaginya. Roti hidup Yesus Kristus membuat kita di dalam Gereja berjalan terus ketujuan yang sudah pasti yang dikehendaki Tuhan sendiri. Seperti makanan yangmemotivasi kuda berjalan terus, kita juga terdorong bahkan terdesak untukberjalan terus dan berbuat seperti sang Guru kita, Yesus Kristus. Diamenjadikan diri-Nya makanan kita. Mengajarkan dan memasukkan anggota baru ke dalam Gereja, pertobatan danpembaharuan diri, penyembuhan seperti yang dilakukan oleh Petrus dalam bacaanhari ini, dan membangun komunitas, semua ini menjelaskan bagaimana kita sebagaiGereja dan anggotanya bergerak maju untuk mewujudkan pekerjaan-pekerjaan YesusKristus. Gereja mesti bergerak dan berjalan maju.  Roti hidup Yesus Kristus sepantasnya mendorong, mendesak bahkan menuntutdengan tegas. Makan Tubuh dan minum Darah Yesus Kristus sama dengan memakaidiri Yesus Kristus ke dalam diri kita masing-masing sehingga Roh-Nya menguasaikita. Resikonya ialah kita harus menjalankan kehendak-Nya.  Banyak orang dengan kebebasan, tanggung jawab dan optimisme menerima reskioitu dengan suka cita. Maka Gereja Perdana berkembang cepat dalam jumlah danrasa betah dirasakan oleh semua. Gereja ini berjalan terus sampai menjadiGereja saat ini. Gereja saat ini juga mengikuti jalan Yesus Kristus dan terusberjalan maju.  Namun ada yang terpaksa memutuskan untuk menolak, mengambil jalan lain atauberbalik. Ada sebagian anggota Gereja saat ini menolak ajaran Kristus danGereja-Nya yang terlalu keras dan menuntut, karena semangat hidup mereka sudah mengambiljalannya sendiri-sendiri. Semoga Anda tidak termasuk dalam kelompok ini.Marilahkita berdoa. Dalam nama Bapa... Tuhan dan Allah kami, pujian dan terima kasihkarena Yesus Putramu sebagai jalan, kebenaran dan kehidupan kami. Acts of the Apostles 9: 1-20; Rs psalm 117: 1.2; John 6: 52-59.SPIRITUAL FOOD AND DRINK The title of our meditation today is:Spiritual Food and Drink. When the Lord Jesus Christ for the first time explainedthat His body and blood must be consumed as the food by those who believed inHim, one question that we can ask would be as the following: for all who hadlistened to it, who was the first to understand then eated meat and drank bloodof Jesus? This question really evoked emotionsof Jesus' listeners at that time. The Jews felt amused and embarrassed. Thedisciples were divided into those who accepted and rejected this teaching. Thecontents of this teaching were really hard to people's mind. If someone wanted,let him alone come to eat body and drink blood of Jesus. How can there be asacred teaching to become a cannibal, a human eater? But this teaching is actuallyspiritual in its nature. Jesus wants to make Himself spiritual food and drink,in order to produce the spiritual growth of His followers, and finally bringthem arrive at a spiritual achievement, namely a communion with God. Thespiritual food and drink are the words of the Father, the teachings of JesusChrist, and the sacrifice the Lord Jesus must endure. We consume Jesus means weunderstand, believe, imitate, and live with Him. Our reading today from the Acts of theApostles describes a person who took the path to consume spiritual food anddrink was Saul. Even though he was a Jew with duty to destroy the Church whichhad begun to develop, God had chosen him to be His instrument. But before meetingall the goals he had intended to, God rebuked him. He then realized the evil thathe was doing and finally he repented. His life totally changed. Then he musteat the body and drink the blood of Christ, namely the words and life of Jesus.The Spirit of God entered into him and led him to the baptism and making him acompletely new person. His name now changed to be Paul and later became a verycharismatic and courageous apostle. These spiritual food and drink thenbecame the meal for many others later throughout the world. To become followersof Christ of today both as the body of the Church or the community of God'speople and as a personal testimony of Christian life, we need to acknowledgecontinously that the body and blood of Christ is the One who nourishes andsustains us. Just imagine, when you have not met the word of God for some time inthe celebration of the eucharist, you must have experienced a great loss andemptiness. This is a sign that the bread of life of Jesus Christ sustains andnourishes our faith.Let's pray. In the name of theFather ... O God Almighty, we give thanks to you for You are the real bread oflife for our spiritual growth and unity with You. May Your Spirit alwayssanctify us.
