** #131 Roasting Saints 28: Don't worry, it's not for time. ** :: At least for now! :: Divchina, Gigi and Patience listen and respond to some bonkers clips from the 28th episode of the LDS history podcast titled "Saints". :: Highlights: :: Learn how the "Relief Society" started, and how Joseph Smith twisted it his way. Discover how the Mormon secret-sacred-bullshit temple rituals started. Then marvel at how the church deals with the rituals being modified Masonry by just admitting it in a smooth calm voice, with no explanation, like it's a totally reasonable thing. Joseph Smith had different kinds of plural wives. Learn about the palatable (adultery-less) kind of plural wife, which supposedly wasn't for this physical life on Earth (time), but rather for the after-life (eternity). Then marvel at how Joseph still gets something out of it now. Learn about a fundamental church concept: If you're not sure, pray and receive your own witness from God on the matter. Then marvel at how this un-coercive sounding principle has always been weaponised to result in leaders getting what they want. #Reasons to stay home this Sunday# - https://bookofboredom.com/reasons/ #Join the Blasphemy# - https://facebook.com/groups/BookOfBoredom #Patreon (Bonus Episodes)# - https://patreon.com/BookOfBoredom #Twitter# - https://twitter.com/BookOfBoredom #TikTok# - https://tiktok.com/@BookOfBoredomPodcast #Instagram# - https://instagram.com/BookOfBoredomPodcast #YouTube# - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMjDavWoT73Cev3IAie_XBA #Website# - https://bookofboredom.com/ A nice review on any podcast platform will help frustrate the Heavenly Father's boring plans for your future.

Today Allie discusses the impact of the new movie adaptation of "Wuthering Heights" by Emerald Fennell and starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi and its portrayal of sadomasochistic love stories. She highlights the movie's hypersexual nature and its influence on young women, leading to unhealthy relationships and choices. Allie also looks at other pop culture icons, such as Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Sabrina Carpenter, as culprits of feeding women unrealistic and dangerous ideas of romance. She emphasizes the importance of biblical love, which is selfless, patient, and Christ-centered, contrasting it with the unhealthy themes in modern media. Understanding the Evil Trinity in Revelation 13: A Deep Dive In this episode, the speaker explores Revelation chapter 13, introducing the concept of the evil trinity consisting of Satan (the dragon), the Antichrist (the beast from the sea), and the false prophet. Drawing parallels between the satanic trinity and the Holy Trinity, the speaker emphasizes the importance of understanding Revelation not with fear, but with the perspective that it is part of God's grand plan, already completed before the foundations of the world. The speaker cites Deuteronomy 29:29 to explain that while some things remain secret and unexplainable, believers should focus on what has been revealed and their responsibility to live according to God's word. The episode delves into the future events involving the Antichrist, his mimicry of Christ, and the ultimate triumph of God's plan. The urgency of evangelism and the importance of faith and patience for God's holy people are reinforced throughout the discussion. 00:00 Introduction to Revelation 13 00:32 The Evil Trinity: Dragon, Beast, and False Prophet 02:13 The Unexplainable Mysteries of God 03:53 John's Vision of the Beast 05:11 The Antichrist's Rise and Deception 07:18 The Beast's Blasphemy and Authority 15:55 The Lamb's Book of Life 20:11 God's Eternal Plan and Our Responsibility 22:50 Final Encouragement and Call to Action
A conversation with Ryan Förster - from BLASPHEMY fan to member, later co-founding CONQUEROR and continuing the lineage with DEATH WORSHIP. Jim Osman returns to 2 Peter 2 with a hard-hitting examination of false teachers and their defining characteristics. In verses 10-13, Peter paints a vivid portrait of those who infiltrate the church with destructive heresies, and Osman carefully unpacks what makes these teachers so dangerous. The passage reveals three striking indicators of their pride: they are insolent in their blasphemy of spiritual beings, irrational like animals driven by instinct, and ignorant of the very subjects they claim to master. Osman draws sobering parallels to modern movements within evangelicalism—from female preachers who defy biblical teaching roles to charismatic "demon slayers" who mock spiritual authorities with reckless presumption. He explains why even holy angels refuse to revile fallen demons, yet these false teachers rush in where angels fear to tread. The message includes practical guidance on identifying these teachers by their specific behaviors and attitudes, showing how Scripture equips believers to mark and avoid those who would lead them astray. Osman's exposition demonstrates that false teachers are not difficult to spot when measured against Peter's clear biblical criteria. ★ Support this podcast ★
Egypt's January 25 revolution was 15 years ago. Since then many of its young leaders have been persecuted and the history of what happened distorted or denied. After spending over a decade in prison, the activist and writer Alaa Abd El-Fattah was finally released from prison in September, and allowed to travel outside Egypt in December. We are re-running an episode we did about Alaa's 2021 book You Have Not Yet Been Defeated, and other writing on the Egyptian uprising and its aftermath. Show Notes Alaa Abd El-Fattah's You Have Not Yet Been Defeated was translated by a collective, and is out from Fizcarraldo Editions in the UK. A US edition is forthcoming in March 2022 from Seven Stories Press. There is also an Italian translation by Monica Ruocco.Ahmed Douma's second poetry collection, Curly, was set for release in September 2021 by Dar Maraya. But on the eve of its publication, state security officials confiscated copies of the book. Read Elliott Colla and Ahmed Hassan's co-translations of a poem from this collection, and an excerpt from Douma's “Blasphemy,” on ArabLit. Basma Abdelaziz's Here is a Body, which chronicles the Rabaa massacre and its aftermath, was published in Jonathan Wright's translation by Hoopoe Fiction. Today Allie discusses the ethical implications of Immigration and Customs Enforcement's deportation operations, highlighting the lack of due process and the high number of asylum-seekers affected. She contrasts the current outrage with historical actions under President Obama. Allie also critiques the media's role in manipulating public sentiment and questions the authenticity of recent protests over the deaths of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Additionally she addresses the ethical concerns surrounding surrogacy — like Meghan Trainor's newest baby — citing the exploitation of women and the psychological impact on children. Unless you're a lawbreaker. In other words, you want to twist the word of God, because whatever, you don't agree with God. And then you're, you're getting close to blaspheming the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is what the Bible is all about, the inspiration of the Holy Spirit documented in written form. And so people all the time don't want to obey what's in the Bible.

What do charges of blasphemy against Jesus teach us about who Jesus really is? Clearly the Jews, Scribes, Pharisees, and even Caiaphas the High Priest thought Jesus claimed to be God through what He said and what He did (see Mark 2; Matthew 26; Mark 2; Luke 5; and John 10). Many skeptics, as well as Jehovah's Witnesses and Latter-day Saints have tried explaining away passages like Mark 2, where the Scribes thought Jesus was blaspheming. They believe Jesus only had the authority to forgive sins, not that He was God, the Son, incarnate. This week on the Profile, we will tackle this objection as well as delve into Matthew's account of Caiaphas tearing his robes in Matthew 26:65. Both passages (Mark 2:1-12 and Matthew 26:57-68) are solid evidence that Jesus, the Son of Man, is in fact God the Son, incarnate. Join us as we continue in our message series called“Jesus // According to Matthew, where we're going to walk through the Gospel of Matthew.
In this Thinking Talmudist episode on Gittin 56b-57a, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe explores the dramatic aftermath of the Temple's destruction through Titus's deathbed fear of divine judgment (scattering his ashes over seven seas to evade accountability) and Onkelos's necromantic consultations with Titus, Balaam, and Jewish sinners—all affirming Jewish prominence in the World to Come while warning against joining or harming Israel. The Talmud contrasts: idolaters' prophets (like Balaam) advise attacking Jews for worldly leadership, while even Jewish sinners urge seeking Jewish benefit ("one who touches them touches the apple of His eye"). Punishments fit measure-for-measure: Titus scattered eternally, Balaam in boiling semen for seduction schemes.Rabbi Wolbe connects this to modern miracles (e.g., a Yemenite missile landing harmlessly near Tel Aviv's airport on May 4, 2025) as Hashem's "hug" reminding us of divine control—not military might or technology. He stresses humility, gratitude, and recognizing "there is no happenstance" (mikre = only from Hashem), urging constant awareness that everything is Hashem's precise guidance. The episode emphasizes living with eternal perspective: prioritize Torah, mitzvot, and family over fleeting materialism, as we'll face judgment on maximizing our unique potential ("Why weren't you you?")._____________The Thinking Talmudist Podcast shares select teachings of Talmud in a fresh, insightful and meaningful way. Did Jesus really say He was God? The Scribes, Pharisees, and the High Priest Caiaphas sure understood Jesus to be making that claim. They accused Jesus of blasphemy (see Mark 2; Matthew 26; Mark 2; Luke 5; and John 10). This week and next on the Profile, we will be examining two specific passages where Jesus is accused of blasphemy with apologist, author, and Professor of Bible and theology at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago Dr. Mikel Del Rosario. We will be discussing his new book Did Jesus Really Say He Was God? and exploring why the Bible gives us an accurate historical account of Jesus's life and ministry. From IVPMikel Del Rosario (PhD, Dallas Theological Seminary) is professor of Bible and theology at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. He has coauthored thirty-one journal articles on apologetics and cultural engagement in Bibliotheca Sacra with his mentor, Darrell L. Bock. A member of the Evangelical Theological Society, Del Rosario is host of The Apologetics Guy Show, a podcast on YouTube and the Christianity Today Network. In this Thinking Talmudist episode continuing Gittin 55b, Rabbi Aryeh Wolbe delves into the Talmud's account of Vespasian's siege of Jerusalem and the miraculous rise of Titus (Vespasian's successor). When Vespasian receives word of Caesar's death and his impending appointment as emperor, his feet swell from joy—preventing him from putting on his second shoe—until Rabbi Yochanan ben Zakkai explains it as "good tidings fatten the bones," then suggests seeing someone disliked to restore normal size. Vespasian, now emperor, questions why Rabbi Yochanan delayed coming; the rabbi cites the violent biryone blocking escape.Rabbi Yochanan requests three things: Yavne and its sages (to preserve Torah study), the family of Rabbi Gamliel (Davidic lineage), and doctors for Rabbi Tzadok (who fasted 40 years to avert destruction but shrank his intestines). Rabbi Yosef (or Akiva) critiques this as "foolish wisdom"—he should have asked to save Jerusalem—but the rabbi feared refusal would doom even Yavne. The episode ends with Titus entering the Temple, slashing the parochet (curtain), seeing blood (interpreted as killing God), and the sages marveling at Hashem's restraint toward blasphemy while rewarding the wicked here to punish them eternally._____________The Thinking Talmudist Podcast shares select teachings of Talmud in a fresh, insightful and meaningful way. Why is religion today so often associated with giving and taking offense? To answer this question, Slandering the Sacred: Blasphemy Law and Religious Affect in Colonial India (U Chicago Press, 2023) invites us to consider how colonial infrastructures shaped our globalized world. Through the origin and afterlives of a 1927 British imperial law (Section 295A of the Indian Penal Code), J. Barton Scott weaves a globe-trotting narrative about secularism, empire, insult, and outrage. Decentering white martyrs to free thought, his story calls for new histories of blasphemy that return these thinkers to their imperial context, dismantle the cultural boundaries of the West, and transgress the borders between the secular and the sacred as well as the public and the private. Movie of the Year: 1971The DevilsWhy The Devils (1971) Still ProvokesIn this episode of Movie of the Year, Ryan and Mike confront The Devils, Ken Russell's incendiary historical drama that remains one of the most controversial films ever made. More than fifty years after its release, the film continues to shock and challenge audiences—not simply for its imagery, but for its ruthless examination of power and religion as intertwined systems of control.Set in 17th-century France but unmistakably modern in its fury, this 1971 production exposes how institutions weaponize belief, morality, and fear. The conversation centers on why its reputation for scandal has so often eclipsed its intelligence, craft, and relevance.Guest Spotlight: Brian Eggert of DeepFocusReview.comJoining Ryan and Mike is special guest Brian Eggert, editor and lead writer at DeepFocusReview.com. Brian brings a historically grounded, analytical perspective that helps reframe the movie beyond its notoriety.Brian discusses Ken Russell's place in 1970s cinema, the long history of censorship surrounding the film, and why its critique of power and religion feels increasingly urgent today. His insight clarifies why this work endures not as shock cinema, but as a rigorously argued piece of political art.Power and Religion as Systems of ControlAt its core, this film is about power and religion—and how faith becomes an instrument of domination when fused with political authority. What begins as a case of alleged demonic possession in Loudon evolves into a portrait of institutional violence, where truth is irrelevant and spectacle is essential.Ryan and Mike, with Brian's input, analyze how religious authority operates alongside the state. Confessions are coerced, belief is staged, and punishment is public. Spiritual language masks political intent, turning faith into theater and theater into violence.Russell and Jarman: Cinema Built to ConfrontOne of the most radical elements of the movie is the collaboration between Ken Russell and Derek Jarman. The pairing of Russell and Jarman produces a visual world that rejects period realism in favor of aggressive symbolism. The episode breaks down how this partnership:replaces historical authenticity with stark modernist designuses white, brutalist architecture to deny comforttransforms religious iconography into provocationemploys excess as both aesthetic strategy and political critiqueThis is not cinema designed to immerse—it is cinema designed to unsettle. The Citizens of Loudon and Collective ResponsibilityBeyond its powerful figures, the story is deeply concerned with the citizens of Loudon. Crowds gather, whisper, watch, and ultimately participate in the machinery of destruction.Ryan and Mike explore how the film portrays moral panic as a communal process. Fear spreads socially. Violence becomes normalized. The narrative suggests that institutional cruelty only succeeds because ordinary people allow it to happen. The townspeople are not just victims of authority—they are active participants in its enforcement.Sex, Blasphemy, and the Machinery of ScandalMuch of the controversy surrounding this work stems from its...

Family can be beautiful and messy and the holidays have a way of bringing both to the surface. In Mark 3:20-35, Pastor Ryan Visconti walks through a surprising moment where Jesus is misunderstood by His own family and accused by religious leaders. Then Jesus drops a warning that can feel terrifying at first blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. In this message you will learn what that sin is and what it is not why it cannot be committed by accident and why your fear of it can actually be a sign of hope. You will also see how Jesus redefines family and invites you into a spiritual family that lasts forever through the local church.
Guest host Cale Clarke looks at the supernatural self-portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe on the eve of her Feast. Plus: a Buffalo Bills commercial mocking baptism has Catholics calling for a penalty.

Blasphemy gives Jesus a headache. There are better and worse ways to talk about God's power and presence – and there's a way so much worse that we call it blasphemy. Jesus cautions us to be careful how we talk, how we articulate what God is and isn't doing in our world. It's not always easy to know; and part of what we do in church together is practice talking in the better ways we learn from scripture, song, and spoken word.To tell us your thoughts on this sermon, click through to the web posting and leave us a comment. Shocktober 2025 spirals into demonic delirium with Juan López Moctezuma's Alucarda (1977). This feverish blast of Mexican Gothic horror follows Justine (Susana Kamini), a sheltered orphan who finds herself drawn to the wild, otherworldly Alucarda (Tina Romero) within the stone walls of a convent that's anything but holy. What begins as innocent friendship erupts into a blood-soaked storm of possession, blasphemy, and ecstatic madness.Ryan Luis Rodriguez and Mark Begley join Mike to dissect Moctezuma's infernal masterpiece — its ties to Jodorowsky's surrealism, its place in the “nunsploitation” subgenre, and its bold feminist undercurrents that still scorch the screen nearly fifty years later.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-projection-booth-podcast--5513239/support.Become a supporter of The Projection Booth at http://www.patreon.com/projectionbooth
