In this deeply moving conversation, the hosts of The Animal Communication Podcast welcome Dr. Isla Fishburn of Kachina Canine - intuitive medicine teacher, shamanic practitioner, grief tender, and author - for a conversation that truly transcends the ordinary. Dr. Isla shares her remarkable "long walk": a lifelong initiation into the consciousness of death, woven through early losses, a near-death experience, an abusive marriage, and the profound teachings of her wolf dog, Tunkashila. Together, they explore death not as an ending to be feared, but as a sacred, intelligent consciousness, an ancient ally that has always been waiting at the edge of our circle, asking to be let in. From the concept of "soulspan" and animals as body-hoppers across infinite lifetimes, to the lost art of ceremony and the village that once held us in grief, to the beautiful truth that a heart that breaks is a heart that wakes, this episode will shift the way you think about loss, love, and the animals who walk us home. Dr. Isla Fishburn is a zoologist, spiritual ecologist, soul activist, conservation biologist, shamanic practitioner, medicine teacher, and canine wellness professional. She is also a grief tender, ceremonial leader and channeller as well as an award winning author. Isla's passion is for humans to return to sacred through accessing their soul work and knowing of their connection and place within the sacred landscapes of earth, nature and spirit, guided by their animal friends both in life and once they have transitioned. Isla holds a focus for all to live in soul consciousness co-existence and enter sacred ground with the more than human and more than physical realms. She has a deep focus on teaching the medicine path of scared transition and sacred grief through soul work and ceremony and how we are being called back to living a life of ceremony with all existence. Isla worked closely with captive wolves for three years, where being in their company taught her about presence, connection, community and seeing life from beyond the thinking mind. It was during this time that Isla began to realise how nature consciousness and death has been a close ally for her since childhood and how they have been asking her to know of them since then, which is what she now offers and does.Webiste: www.kachinacanine.comYoutube Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@drislafishburn-kachinacani1312Instagram is: @kachina_canine_wellnessFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100002647440378 and https://www.facebook.com/kachinacanine/Send us Fan MailSupport the showCan't get enough of the Journey On Podcast & it's guests? China is setting a new bar for the speed of clinical development and redefining the time it takes an asset to get to the clinic. On a special edition of the BioCentury This Week podcast recorded on stage at the 12th BioCentury BayHelix China Healthcare Summit in Shanghai, BioCentury's Simone Fishburn argued that China's emerging new standard for swift entry to the clinic could upend the bottleneck of translational development and usher in a new paradigm that could have a “massive impact globally.”Fishburn and her BioCentury colleagues Joshua Berlin and Jeff Cranmer were joined by a trio of cross-border KOLs — John Zhu, CEO of antibody-drug conjugate company DualityBio; Matt Hewitt, CTO of Charles River Laboratories' manufacturing business division; and Bing Wang, CFO of Akeso — to discuss the speed of generating first-in-human data, Innovent's $1.2 billion deal with Takeda, an evolving biotech talent pool, and the state of the financial markets.“For me, it really feels like 2025 is the year that biotech globally woke up to China,” Fishburn said.BioCentury returns to Asia early next year for the 5th East-West Summit, March 9-11 in Seoul.
