09-06-2026Seeing Visions & Dreaming Dreams (Wk 3): Worship That Transforms In the third installment of Redeemer Church's sermon series, "Seeing Visions & Dreaming Dreams," Worship Pastor Dr. Leanne Benton sits down in an interview-style conversation with Choir Director Dr. Tony Dehner to explore the biblical vision of worship and its life-changing power. Anchored in Psalm 96, this message challenges us to see worship as far more than the songs we sing on Sunday. True worship is our whole-life response to the revelation of who God is and what He has done. Worship begins with God's initiative. He creates, saves, speaks, reveals Himself, and remains present with His people. Our worship is the response. Together, Dr. Benton and Dr. Dehner discuss the many expressions of worship found throughout Scripture: singing, prayer, hearing God's Word, giving, confession, baptism, communion, and the daily offering of our lives as living sacrifices to God. Worship is not confined to a church service but extends into every moment of every day as we live in awareness of God's presence. The conversation also explores the importance of physical and spiritual postures in worship. From kneeling in humility to lifting hands in victory, our bodies participate in worship as reflections of the heavenly reality we encounter when we gather together. Worship not only expresses our faith but also forms us, shaping us into people who increasingly resemble Christ. A special emphasis is placed on the power of singing. Drawing from Scripture and personal experience, Dr. Dehner highlights how singing unites the church, strengthens memory, encourages faith, and carries believers through seasons of suffering and joy. Worship in song is both vertical and communal: we sing to God while also encouraging one another with reminders of His faithfulness. The message centers on the biblical concept of extolling God, praising Him for His character and attributes. As believers fix their hearts on who God is, they discover renewed strength, joy, and restoration. Worship becomes a pathway through which God changes us, renews us, and draws us deeper into His presence. The service concludes with Communion, reminding the church that worship culminates in remembering and receiving the grace of Jesus Christ. As one body, united in Christ, believers gather around the Lord's Table to celebrate His sacrifice, His resurrection, His ongoing presence, and the hope of His return.
