This episode of The Kriya Yoga Podcast, When You Know Samadhi explores the philosophical and practical aspects of meditation within the framework of Kriya Yoga and the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. The main topics include: The Purpose of Meditation Meditation is presented not as a relaxation technique but as a means to access one's true, timeless essence. The goal is the cessation of mental fluctuations to recognize the stillness and fullness at the core of being. Commitment to Practice The importance of long-term dedication is emphasized. Students are encouraged to remain engaged with the practices over time, as deep realization requires persistent application rather than brief exposure. Letting Go of the Ego True yoga involves dissolving the ego—the "personage" that clings to identity and personality. The path is one of surrender and relinquishment of attachments to fully experience spiritual freedom. Outer and Inner Limbs of Yoga The essay delineates between the outer practices (yamas, niyamas, asana, pranayama, pratyahara) and the inner practices (dharana, dhyana, samadhi). Mastery of the outer limbs is seen as foundational for accessing the inner experiences. The Mechanics of Meditation Meditation (dhyana) is defined as uninterrupted focus on a single object. This focus must be maintained for 12 breaths to be considered meditation, and 144 breaths to reach samadhi. These thresholds offer a concrete structure for understanding meditative depth. Modern Distractions and Spiritual Focus The essay criticizes modern distractions like social media and “spiritual doom scrolling.” Instead, it advocates for focused, authentic engagement with traditional texts and practices to cultivate concentration and spiritual discipline. Spiritual Transformation and Evolution Spiritual growth is described as a transformation akin to evolution—from human to divine being (deva). This requires pouring the energy and habits of the old self into a new, higher mode of being. One-Pointedness and Daily Practice One-pointed focus (ekagrata) is vital not only in meditation but in daily activities. Practicing concentrated awareness throughout life enhances the capacity for deeper meditation.

In this episode of The Kriya Yoga Podcast Ryan reflects on a conversation with yoga retreat attendees struggling to understand or experience what is "sacred." This sparks a broader exploration of how modern life—especially overthinking, distractions, and unresolved inner conflicts—prevents many from recognizing sacredness in daily life. Key Points: Invitation to Reflect: Listeners are asked to consider what "sacred" means to them personally—how it feels, and what blocks them from experiencing it. Modern Distractions & Impurities: Our technology-saturated, overly scheduled lives (including spiritual "doom scrolling") clutter the mind, making sacred experiences harder to access. Overthinking as a Barrier: Many overthink spiritual matters to the point of paralysis. Seeking intellectual proof or control keeps us from directly experiencing the sacred, which transcends logic. Importance of Simplicity & Stillness: Like in meditation, we must learn to let go of distractions to become receptive. Sacredness arises not through analysis, but through presence and quiet attention. Trust in Practice Over Proof: Spiritual traditions exist because they offer tested pathways to sacred experience. Rather than demanding proof (e.g., levitating yogis), one must engage the process sincerely and consistently. Skepticism vs. Surrender: While questioning is natural, endlessly asking “why” is a trap. Faith, curiosity, and practice are needed to move past doubt into lived experience. Sacredness in Relationship & Practice: True presence—whether with a child, an instrument, or in meditation—creates sacred moments. It's not about doing more, but about being more present. Mystics Weren't Lazy: Saints and mystics across traditions achieved spiritual insight through rigorous and consistent practice, not casual dabbling. Realization is Beyond the Mind: True spiritual awakening can't be fully described or proven intellectually. It must be experienced directly. Curiosity Over Control: Rather than trying to control or understand everything, approach the spiritual path with wonder, awe, and dedication. Final Message: To experience the sacred, stop overthinking. Trust a well-worn path, stay curious, be present, and practice sincerely over time. Sacredness is found not through intellectual mastery, but through lived, open-hearted experience. -

Hello Beloved. ”THE MYSTERIES OF GOD HAVE BEEN REVEALED.”For those that knock - and demand the truth….text everything and bring it into light. Today we dip our toe into the lost books of teh bible and how the walk of Jesus far outstretched in what is portrayed in the bible according to the validity of the Essenes ( lost books of the bible discovered ). This is not a religious belief conversation, it is a historic overview of curiosity and deeper revelation of truth through a open mind and heart. That said…..LET'S HOP IN! POINT BLANK: One of the greatest spiritual enigmas of all time—the kind that makes you tilt your head and whisper, “Wait, what?”—is the missing 18 years of Jesus's life. You know the ones. The Gospels tell us about his birth, his moment of brilliance at age 12 in the temple, and then… silence.Until he reappears at 30, ready to turn the world inside out. It's as if the most formative years of the most influential spiritual teacher in history were tucked away behind a curtain. But what if that curtain is ready to be pulled back?Exploring the Lost YearsNow, I'm not here to sell you on conspiracy theories or fringe ideas just for the thrill of it.But I am here to explore the beautiful, messy, and fascinating mosaic of possibilities that suggest Jesus's “lost years” were anything but idle. There's a growing body of scholarship, oral tradition, and even ancient manuscripts that hint Jesus may have spent these years not in obscurity, but in study, in pilgrimage, and in deep spiritual practice across some of the most sacred lands on Earth. The Essene ConnectionLet's start with the Essenes. These weren't your average desert dwellers. They were a mystical Jewish sect living near the Dead Sea, devoted to ritual purity, communal living, and a prophetic vision of a coming teacher who would uplift humanity. Some scholars, like Edmund Bordeaux Szekely in The Essene Gospel of Peace, suggest Jesus was trained by them—immersed in their practices of fasting, healing, and spiritual discipline. The Dead Sea Scrolls, discovered in 1947 at Qumran, echo teachings of divine justice, purity, and a “Teacher of Righteousness” that feel uncannily similar to Jesus's later message (see: Vermes, G., The Complete Dead Sea Scrolls in English).Echoes of KabbalahAnd then there's the thread of Kabbalah, the Jewish mystical tradition that dives deep into the nature of God, the soul, and the cosmos.Lawrence Gardner, in The Magdalene Legacy, proposes that Jesus was not just a preacher but a mystic—someone who understood the Tree of Life, the sacred geometry of creation, and the divine spark within all beings. When Jesus says in the Gospel of John, “I and the Father are one,” he's not just being poetic. He's articulating a mystical truth that resonates deeply with Kabbalistic teachings on unity and divine emanation.Journeys to EgyptBut the trail doesn't stop in Judea. It winds its way south to Egypt, where the ancient Mystery Schools taught the secrets of resurrection, inner alchemy, and soul initiation.Gerald Massey, in The Historical Jesus and the Mythical Christ, draws parallels between Jesus and Osiris—the Egyptian god of death and rebirth.Manly P. Hall, in The Secret Teachings of All Ages, even suggests Jesus may have been initiated in the Great Pyramid itself, undergoing the sacred rites of transformation.Egypt wasn't just a place of pyramids and pharaohs—it was a spiritual university, and Jesus may have been one of its most dedicated students. The Indian SojournAnd then—this is where it gets really juicy—there's India.Yes, India. The land of sages, yogis, and the Upanishads. The connection begins at his birth, with the Magi—wise men from the East, possibly Hindu rishis—who followed a star not just in the sky, but in their inner vision. In Indian spiritual tradition, the “star in the east” refers to the third eye, the gateway to divine insight.Their gifts—gold, frankincense, and myrrh—were traditional offerings for newborns in India, not just symbolic tokens.Fast forward a few decades, and we find the most intriguing account of all: The Unknown Life of Jesus Christ by Russian journalist Nicolas Notovitch. In the late 1800s, Notovitch claimed to have discovered Tibetan manuscripts in a monastery in Ladakh, describing the life of “Issa”—a name used for Jesus—who traveled through India, Nepal, and Tibet. These texts describe a young man fleeing societal expectations, studying the Vedas in Puri, challenging the caste system, and preaching universal love and nonviolence.Later, in Tibet, he studied Buddhist sutras—teachings that echo in his later messages about humility, renunciation, and inner peace. Now, Notovitch's claims were met with skepticism, of course. But Swami Abhedananda, a respected Indian monk, later traveled to the same monastery and corroborated the existence of the texts.Paramahansa Yogananda, in his spiritual classic Autobiography of a Yogi, also referenced Jesus's time in India, emphasizing the harmony between Christ's teachings and the yogic path of self-realization.This wasn't about borrowing ideas—it was a soul recognizing truth across borders. The Aquarian GospelAnd if you're still with me (thank you), let's talk about The Aquarian Gospel of Jesus the Christ, written by Levi H. Dowling in 1908.Dowling claimed to have transcribed the book from the Akashic Records—a kind of cosmic memory bank. The Aquarian Gospel offers a sweeping narrative of Jesus's travels through India, Persia, Greece, and Egypt, learning from every major spiritual tradition of the time.Whether or not you believe in the Akashic Records, the book paints a compelling picture of a Jesus who was not only divine but deeply human—curious, humble, and committed to understanding the universal truths that bind us all.Mainstream PerspectivesOf course, mainstream Christianity has struggled with these ideas. The Gospels are silent on these years, and the Church has historically resisted narratives that suggest Jesus learned from other traditions. But let's be honest: the Bible has been edited, translated, and reinterpreted countless times. Can we really say we have the whole story?Or is it possible that what we've been given is just one chapter in a much larger, richer tale?A Bridge Between WorldsBecause here's the thing: When we allow ourselves to explore these possibilities—not as dogma, but as sacred curiosity—we begin to see Jesus not just as a figure of worship, but as a bridge.A bridge between East and West.Between the mystical and the practical.Between the divine and the human. His teachings on inward prayer, fasting, and the kingdom of God within mirror the meditative practices of yoga and the self-inquiry of the Upanishads. His parables echo the allegorical wisdom of Egyptian initiation rites. His message of love, compassion, and inner transformation is, in essence, the heart of every great spiritual tradition. And maybe, just maybe, that's the point. That truth is not a possession, but a path. That divinity is not a hierarchy, but a homecoming. And that Jesus, in his lost years, wasn't lost at all—but walking the long, sacred road that would prepare him to light the way for us all.Your thoughts? xo Kassandra. An esoteric and magical portrait of Elvis Presley“A lively new book.” —The Guardian• Draws on firsthand accounts from Elvis's wife, Priscilla, his friends and family, the Memphis Mafia, and his spiritual advisors• Looks at key teachers who influenced him, including Yogananda, H. P. Blavatsky, and Manly P. Hall• Examines Elvis's efforts as a natural healer, the significance of his UFO encounters, and his telekinetic, psychic, and astral traveling abilitiesElvis Presley, the most successful solo artist in history and an emblematic cultural figure of the Western world, has been widely perceived as a conservative Southern Christian. However, the truth about the man has been missed.Writer and researcher Miguel Conner reveals how Elvis was a profound mystic, occultist, and shaman. Beginning with the unusual circumstances of his birth—and his stillborn twin brother—Conner traces the diverse thread of mysticism that runs through Elvis Presley's life, drawing on firsthand accounts from the people closest to him, including his wife, Priscilla, the Memphis Mafia, and his spiritual advisors. He shows how Elvis studied seminal 19th- and 20th-century occultists, including H. P. Blavatsky, Manly P. Hall, G. I. Gurdjieff, and P. D. Ouspensky, and was a devotee of Indian yogi Paramahansa Yogananda. Conner argues that Elvis was well-versed in the esoteric practices of sex magic, meditation, astrology, and numerology and had a deep familiarity with Kabbalah, Gnosticism, Theosophy, and Eastern traditions. He also reveals how Elvis was a natural healer, telekinetic, psychic, and astral traveler who had significant mystical experiences and UFO encounters.Looking at the conspiratorial and paranormal aspects of Elvis's life, the author explores the "Elvis visitations" that have occurred since the King's death and the general high weirdness of his life. As Conner convincingly argues, Elvis was not just a one-of-a-kind rock-and-roller. He was the greatest magician America ever produced.Miguel Conner is a writer, voiceover artist, and host of the popular podcast Aeon Byte Gnostic Radio. His books include Voices of Gnosticism, Stargazer, Heretic, and The Executioner's Daughter. He lives in northern Illinois.https://www.miguelconner.com/Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/earth-ancients--2790919/support.

The Man Who Spoke to Plants — And They Actually ListenedWhat would you say about a man who could sit…on a cactus…in front of a live audience...…and not move. Not flinch. Not bleed.Because the cactus had no spines. Not because he found it.But because he made it that way.Meet Luther BurbankA botanist who didn't just grow plants. He talked to them. And in ways science still can't explain…they talked back.Sounds Impossible? Too Mystical?Okay—but let's talk about fries. Not that you'd ever touch fast food, right?Of course not. Never.Definitely not at 11pm in a drive-thru.Wink.But if—hypothetically—you ever had one of those crispy golden fries from a certain global mega-chain… that potato was his.The Russet Burbank.Yes, the most widely consumed, industrially farmed, French-fried starch in America—the very potato that helped launch an empire of deep-fried convenience—came from this man.The man who sat on cacti, whispered to daisies, and believed that plants had personalities. The Man Behind the Big FryHe didn't work in white coats or test tubes. He used pruning shears, a notebook, and something deeper—a felt sense of communication with plants. In the early 1900s, ranchers in the American Southwest had a problem:Cattle were starving during droughts. So they chewed on prickly pear cactus—and ended up bleeding from the mouth.Burbank heard about it.He didn't just study the cactus. He spent years with it.Talking to it. Observing. Loving it.Trying to understand the will of the plant itself.“The secret of improved plant breeding... is love.” — Luther BurbankHe bred hundreds—hundreds—of Opuntia specimens.Until one day, the cactus responded. No spines.Just soft, fleshy pads—safe for cattle. And edible by humans. To prove it?He sat on one. In front of a crowd. And just smiled. Please Share this Article on any Groups you Frequent Online… More Need to Know this Truth. Thank you! What Made Burbank DifferentHe didn't just manipulate plants—he partnered with them.He believed they had memory. Emotion.Even a kind of intelligence. He treated each one as a unique individual. He refused to follow rigid scientific protocols.Instead, he spent hours—days—walking his gardens, whispering encouragement, noting every leaf twitch, every color shift, every scent change.Sometimes he'd wait 10 or 15 years just to see if a single cross would bloom the way he dreamed.“I am not making new things... I am helping nature express herself better.”That wasn't just his philosophy. It was his entire practice.A Saint Among the RosesAnd people noticed.Paramahansa Yogananda, one of the most revered spiritual teachers of the 20th century, met Burbank—and was so struck by his presence that he dedicated Autobiography of a Yogi to him.Not to a swami. Not to a sage.To a gardener.“A saint amidst the roses,” Yogananda called him.Their connection wasn't casual—it was soul-level.On a walk through Burbank's Santa Rosa garden, Yogananda heard the words that captured the essence of the man:“The secret of improved plant breeding, apart from scientific knowledge, is love.”They stopped beside a bed of edible cacti—yes, the famous thornless kind—and Burbank elaborated:“While I was conducting experiments to make ‘spineless' cacti,” he said, “I often talked to the plants to create a vibration of love. ‘You have nothing to fear,' I would tell them. ‘You don't need your defensive thorns. I will protect you.'”And the cactus listened. That's not metaphor. It actually dropped its spines. The plant changed its biology in response to trust.Beyond Biology—Into RelationshipThis is the core of Burbank's genius:Not just biology, but relationship. He didn't dominate nature. He collaborated with it.Listened. Adapted. Guided.Yogananda was so moved by this communion that he asked for some cactus pads to grow in his Mount Washington garden. When a workman stepped in to help, Burbank stopped him.“I myself will pluck them for the swami.”That's who he was.A Walnut Tree, a Twinkle in His EyeHe went on to show Yogananda a walnut tree that took just 16 years to produce an abundant harvest—a process that should've taken twice that time. With a twinkle in his eye, he described the possibilities—for both plants and people—when guided with care and intention.“The most stubborn living thing in this world... is a plant once fixed in certain habits... The human will is a weak thing beside the will of a plant.”But with love and patient attention, even that will could be shifted.“When it comes to so sensitive and pliable a thing as the nature of a child,” he said, “the problem becomes vastly easier.”Burbank saw humanity as one vast garden. And he believed that what worked in the soil...could also work in the soul.More Than Just WooSo yeah—maybe it all sounds a little woo.Talking to plants. Believing they respond to love. But then again…He gave us over 800 new plant species. He shaped modern agriculture. He gave us the potato that fed the world—and powered fast food empires. And still, that wasn't what moved him most.He and Yogananda spent hours dreaming about the future—not just of plants, but of people. They traded thoughts about education, Eastern and Western wisdom, yoga, reincarnation, mysticism. They even brainstormed the name of a magazine together.(They landed on East–West, naturally.)And Burbank wasn't just philosophizing from the sidelines. He took initiation into Kriya Yoga from Yogananda—and practiced it with devotion.“Sometimes I feel very close to the Infinite Power,” he told Yogananda, quietly. The Human SeedWhat stirred him more than a better walnut tree or thornless cactus...was the human seed—the potential in a child. He believed, as Yogananda did, that a new kind of education was needed:One that honored nature.Cultivated inner growth.Treated kids like whole people—not just data buckets.“Schools like yours are the only hope of a future millennium,” he said. That Vision Didn't Die With ThemMy wife Chiara helped start a school for our children and others based on those very ideals. It's called Piccolo Seme (Little Seed — in English)—originally rooted in the teachings of Yogananda, and in the same soil Burbank believed in.When the world was shutting down in 2020, and everything felt uncertain, that school became a lifeline for us—and for many families hungry for something more grounded, more joyful, more… real. And now, years later, I find myself still talking to plants in the garden.Still wondering what they know.Still trying to pass that spark on to my 10-year-old son—who usually just rolls his eyes when I get too mystical about my basil. But maybe someday, he'll get it.Maybe one day he'll feel what Burbank felt. That love isn't just something we feel—It's something we grow. And it grows back. What If...?What if the wildest ideas… aren't actually that wild? What if communion with nature isn't mysticism…but science we just haven't caught up to yet? What if you could learn to listen—really listen—to the life growing silently all around you?Burbank didn't just change plants. He changed the relationship we could have with them. And maybe…that's the part we're still catching up on.Let's talk more soon.Ray “Love Grows when we Plant Seeds” Lee BaconMore chapters of the Electroculture Foundations Guide are coming soon

On this episode of The Karen Kenney Show, I dive into a concept That I call, "Head, Heart, Hands" – which is a powerful approach to personal transformation that flips how we typically try to change our lives. Instead of white-knuckling our way through external behavior changes, I explain why it's crucial to start with the internal landscape of our thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and stories.Drawing from my own journey and some wisdom from spiritual smarty-pants like Paramahansa Yogananda, I share how real, lasting change happens when we align our mind and heart first!Think of it like this: if your head and heart are truly on board with a change, your hands (aka: your actions) are way more likely to naturally follow. So, it's not about forcing yourself to stop doing something, but more like shifting your internal perspective - so gradually, but inevitably, the old behavior just doesn't make sense anymore. I talk about how our ego mind loves to keep us in those old familiar patterns, while also crafting stories of guilt, shame, and limitation. But here's the truth: Who you really are is not broken and doesn't need to be fixed. What we need is to unlearn some of the survival strategies that no longer serve us, and also take time to tune into that quieter, loving voice inside us that knows our true potential. If you're feeling stuck trying to change something in your life - whether it's a health habit, a relationship pattern, or a professional goal - this episode offers a helpful way of approaching things. Start by getting curious about your inner world.Ask yourself, “What thoughts are driving my current behavior? What beliefs are holding me back? What stories have I been telling about myself? What identity am I willing to let go?”Remember, “the assignment is alignment” and when your head and heart believe in the change you want to make, your hands will take action to make it happen! KEY TAKEAWAYS:• Change your thoughts first, your behaviors will naturally follow.• “The assignment is alignment.”• Internal alignment matters more than external willpower.• Spiritual growth happens when our heads and hearts connect.• Love transforms things quietly; ego/fear maintains old patterns loudly.• Unlearning limiting beliefs can unlock our true potential.• Our identity shapes our actions, even more powerfully than pure discipline.• The Nest - Group Mentoring ProgramBIO:Karen Kenney is a certified Spiritual Mentor, Writer, Integrative Change Worker, Coach and Hypnotist. The Kriya Yoga Podcast

In this episode of The Kriya Yoga Podcast, we explore the power of Kriya Yoga. The Power of Kriya Yoga: An Exploration of Self-Realization and Transcendence Kriya Yoga is a profound spiritual discipline that seeks to bridge the gap between the human experience and transcendence. This podcast delves into the reflections shared in a comprehensive lecture on the power of Kriya Yoga, touching on its transformative potential, philosophical underpinnings, and practical applications. Through the lens of a teacher's journey and insights, we explore the essence of this ancient practice. A Journey of Discovery Ryan recounts his initial encounter with Kriya Yoga, stemming from a deep yearning for spiritual clarity and understanding. Raised in a Christian tradition that did not fully satisfy his spiritual curiosity, he discovered the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda through the seminal work Autobiography of a Yogi. This exposure ignited a quest for enlightenment, leading to years of dedicated practice and mentorship under Roy Eugene Davis, a direct disciple of Yogananda. The transformative journey into Kriya Yoga begins with the premise that life is more than a physical or intellectual endeavor—it is a spiritual progression. Kriya Yoga offers a structured, "scientific" approach to transcendence, emphasizing direct experience over abstract philosophy. Philosophy and Practice Kriya Yoga is rooted in ancient Indian spiritual traditions, particularly the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and the Bhagavad Gita. Its philosophy underscores the alignment of mental, emotional, and psychological harmony as prerequisites for spiritual maturity. This discipline demands adherence to ethical principles (Yamas and Niyamas) and consistent meditative practice to unveil higher states of consciousness. Central to the practice is the idea of directing energy within the body along the spinal pathway, engaging chakras (energy centers) to achieve self-realization. By transcending the limitations of the root chakra—associated with basic survival instincts—practitioners progress through higher centers, unlocking creativity, love, wisdom, and eventually mystical insight. Mr. Kurczak emphasizes the role of action (Kriya) in this process. Transformation occurs through effort and discipline, aligning one's life with spiritual principles and fostering emotional and psychological balance. The Mystical Unknowing One of the most profound aspects of Kriya Yoga is its ability to guide practitioners into a state of "mystical unknowing." Rather than offering definitive answers, it cultivates faith and acceptance of the unknown. This "faith" is not a blind adherence but a trust born from direct experiences of spiritual support and coherence. Life's challenges are reframed as opportunities for growth, providing clarity and resilience through adversity. Ryan recounts moments of doubt and despair, only to find that persistent practice reveals the intelligence underlying life's difficulties. Meditation and philosophical study serve as tools to decode these challenges, aligning the practitioner's actions and choices with a higher purpose. The Human Journey Kriya Yoga positions human life as a bridge between primal instincts and divine transcendence. Drawing on the metaphor of the chakras, it describes the evolutionary journey from survival (root chakra) to spiritual illumination (crown chakra). This progression mirrors the transformation of unconscious living to a state of enlightened awareness. The speaker highlights the importance of personal growth as a foundation for spiritual advancement. Emotional and psychological maturity, cultivated through introspection and therapeutic practices, lays the groundwork for deeper meditation. This interplay between inner harmony and spiritual practice reflects the integrative nature of Kriya Yoga. Practical Implications Kriya Yoga's teachings extend beyond the meditation cushion. The discipline advocates for a life of integrity, authenticity, and alignment with universal truths. Practitioners are encouraged to live in harmony with the world, adopting sustainable practices, cultivating meaningful relationships, and embodying principles of truth and nonviolence. Moreover, the speaker underscores the importance of personal effort and commitment. Spiritual progress is not a passive journey but one that requires active engagement with life's challenges and a willingness to let go of outdated beliefs and habits. Conclusion Kriya Yoga offers a path to transcendence through a blend of philosophy, meditation, and ethical living. Its transformative power lies in its ability to harmonize the mind, body, and spirit, guiding practitioners toward direct experiences of the divine. As the speaker concludes, life itself becomes a form of divine communion, where every experience—joyful or painful—serves as a teacher. The ultimate goal is to realize the innate coherence of existence and to embody a state of enlightened awareness. This podcast encapsulates the essence of Kriya Yoga as not merely a practice but a profound way of being, offering a roadmap to spiritual self-discovery and the realization of life's deeper purpose. - If you would like to participate in future live sessions consider becoming a member of The Kriya Yoga Online Patreon Community or applying to the Kriya Yoga Apprenticeship Program. In this episode of The Kriya Yoga Podcast, we explore: The ultimate goal of meditation, according to authentic spiritual traditions, is to foster clarity, wisdom, and a deep connection with the divine. However, many practitioners unwittingly use meditation as a means of escapism. Instead of addressing psychological or emotional wounds, they employ meditation to suppress these issues, akin to putting a temporary bandage over a wound. For example, individuals might meditate to escape from stress, avoid confronting trauma, or simply to appear virtuous. While such practices may offer momentary relief, they do not lead to the transformative insights that authentic meditation can provide. This misuse of meditation creates a stagnant spiritual experience, where the practitioner remains stuck in superficial states of awareness. The Role of Discipline and Self-Reflection A crucial stage in meditation is the development of discipline. Beginners often struggle with restless minds and the inability to focus, necessitating a period of consistent practice. This foundational phase, which may last several years, builds the capacity for stillness and concentration. However,  discipline should not become an end in itself. Beyond the initial stage, practitioners must engage in self-reflection, asking themselves why they meditate and what they aim to achieve. A critical shift from using meditation as a means of avoidance to treating it as a tool for inner transformation is essential. This involves addressing unresolved psychological complexes, embracing emotional vulnerabilities, and working through past traumas. The analogy of attending to "screaming children" within one's psyche illustrates the importance of resolving inner conflicts before seeking the higher states of consciousness described in spiritual texts. Practical Steps for Effective Meditation Actionable advice for enhancing the quality of meditation: Set Clear Intentions: Reflect on your motivations for meditating. Are you seeking clarity and transformation, or are you avoiding unresolved issues? Limit Duration Wisely: Meditate for as long as you can remain fully present. A short, focused session is more impactful than hours of distracted sitting. Address Psychological Barriers: Seek professional help for persistent emotional or psychological issues. Techniques such as EMDR or internal family systems therapy can complement meditation. Cultivate Yamas and Niyamas: Practice truthfulness, contentment, and other yogic principles to create a foundation of ethical and emotional stability. Simplify Your Life: Minimize distractions and overcommitment to create a conducive environment for deep meditation. Honor the Body: Maintain a balanced diet, exercise moderately, and ensure adequate rest to support a healthy nervous system. - If you would like to participate in future live sessions consider becoming a member of The Kriya Yoga Online Patreon Community or applying to the Kriya Yoga Apprenticeship Program. Have you been feeling unsettled, worried or troubled the past few weeks? As a highly sensitive soul, living a world that feels increasingly unsettled, it is more important than ever that you take excellent care of yourself! One of the best forms of self-care is taking care of your MIND. Keeping your mind calm and focused on spiritual truths is key! I have been re-reading the writings of Paramahansa Yogananda to help me find peace during these times. What does he recommend? Meditation. In this episode, I share a passage from Yogananda's book, To Be Victorious in Life, to help you remember how to respond to the external world, AND how not to. I also share some simple tips you can start doing today to help you feel better. And if you want to learn more about the upcoming training, Meditate Like a Mystic,  click here to find out more.   Key Learnings: Highly sensitive souls need to take better care of themselves during turbulent times like these. The most important thing to do is develop a meditation practice that fosters a sense of inner peace and calmness. Yogananda's teachings were written and taught during the first half of the 20th century, during the Great Depression and World War 2. Talk about an unsettling time! That is why his teachings are SO helpful for the times we are experiencing now. If his students could meditate in a bomb shelter in England during the Blitz, you KNOW they are powerful teachings! Some simple things you can do to take care of yourself: a) Limit your intake of sensationalized news b) increase your time out in nature c) increase time reading and studying spiritual truths d) take inspired action from a place of peace and calmness   “Meditation is the key to inner peace, especially in troubling times like these.”    Click here to register for Mother Mary's Meditate Like a Mystic Program Click here to purchase To Be Victorious in Life by Paramahansa Yogananda Click here to join the Magnify Your Miracles Membership If you love the image on the wall behind me of Mother Mary Blessing the World, you can order your own museum quality copy at www.deepaliu.com

About our guest Roy Thibodeau Golden Lotus Yoga for Spiritual Awareness (GLYSA) was founded by Roy E. Thibodeau & Mary Ann Thibodeau in 2011.  We have been disciples of Yogacharya J. Oliver Black for over 45 years and GLYSA was founded to assure the continuation our lineage, legacy, and heritage through Babaji, Lahiri Mahasaya, Sri Yukteswar, Paramahansa Yogananda, and Yogacharya Oliver.   Yogacharya Oliver was one of Paramahansa Yogananda's most advanced direct disciples, establishing the Detroit, Michigan Self Realization Fellowship (SRF) Center which he ran as an SRF minister from 1951 until 1980's.  He also established Song of the Morning Yoga Retreat in Northern Michigan which he ran until his MahaSamadhi September 16, 1989.  He remained an SRF Minister, Authorized by Paramahansa Yogananda & SRF to give Kriya Yoga Initiation to qualified candidates until his MahaSamadhi.  You can find out more about Yogacharya Oliver at www.yogacharyaoliver.com.  Because of Yogacharya's relationship and loyalty to Paramahansa Yogananda & SRF he was never able to authorize any of his disciples to Initiate candidates into Kriya Yoga. Because of this situation and knowing our destiny to continue our Linage through Yogacharya Oliver we pursued authorization to perform Kriya Yoga Initiations through the help of Roy Eugene Davis another direct disciple of Paramahansa Yogananda and brother disciple to Yogacharya Oliver.  We asked him to ordain us authorizing us to give Kriya Yoga Initiation under Yogacharya Oliver's authority.  Roy graciously agreed and ordained us under Yogacharya Oliver's authority.  Because of that we incorporated two names into the name of our organization. - If you would like to participate in future live sessions consider becoming a member of The Kriya Yoga Online Patreon Community or applying to the Kriya Yoga Apprenticeship Program. So it's Christmas time and whether or not you celebrate a holiday this time of year, it's hard to ignore that there is a lot of good, juicy loving kindness and beautiful juju coursing through the ether right now.[00:18] Let's take advantage of that and listen to a classic stress therapy episode, loving kindness during Christmas time. Relax and settle in and listen up because your stress therapy classic edition is about to be begin right now.[00:48] Hey, beautiful people. It's time for some stress therapy. A podcast about how to meditate and get better at stress for people living in the real world. Finally, a place to park my 25 plus years of experience of working as a psychotherapist in the mental health field.[01:03] And now your host, host me, the stress therapist, Sherry Flake.[01:22] Okay, y'all, I can't believe it. Beautiful people. But here we are. And we have been together 100 times. Can you believe it? It's so exciting. 100th episode, here we are.[01:34] And I think it's a really cool time. Whether you're Christian or not, whether you're celebrating some sort of religious holiday this month or holiday season or not, it's always a beautiful, wonderful time because a lot of people are and there's a lot of love in the air.[01:49] To examine the idea of one love, that we are all one love, that with respect to value, we are all exactly the same. We come from the human race. We come from this beautiful, beautiful earth.[02:03] And when we think about our sameness rather than our differences, things look better, we feel better. If I was able to open up your body and take out your beautiful soul, it would fill up the entire universe and more.[02:17] It would fill up galaxies and galaxies and light years and light years. That's how valuable and beautiful and lovely that you are. And you share that with all these other people.[02:28] And there is an opportunity here to feel connected rather than feel separate. To feel love rather than feel hate, to feel peace rather than feeling discord. And it's an awesome opportunity to be in the very moment that you're in because it is so beautiful.[02:47] And every single moment is a gift. And I know how cheesy I sound right now, and I don't even care because it's so good and it's so loving and it's filled to the top with juicy.[02:59] And if you want some of that, then you're going to have to spend some time in the sweet, sweet stillness. Paramahansa Yogananda said, live in the present. Launch yourself on every wave Find eternity in each moment.[03:14] The future will take care of itself. You don't have to worry about it. You don't have to change it. You just sit in your loving, beautiful present moment, this beautiful stillness, and you can find your future in being in the present.[03:32] Because nothing's going to happen in the future. It's all going to happen right now. And nothing ever happened in the past. It happened all right now, and you don't want to miss it.[03:41] And sometimes during this time of year, people say, oh, I can't believe it's crazy, you know? You know, this is one of my pet peeves. I can't believe it's Christmas.[03:47] I can't believe it's the holidays again. I can't believe it's the new year again. I can't believe 2023 is over. Whatever.[03:53] Maybe you can't believe it, but the reason why you can't believe it is because you're not spiritual spending any time in it. You're thinking about next week or this holiday party or this gift you need to get, or that person you need to acknowledge or this thing you need to do, or that cocktail dress you need to buy or whatever, rather than being in the very moment you're in.[04:12] And there is a juicy loveliness in doing that. And one of the ways that I like to think about how we can remember how we're all exactly the same, even though we don't think we are, okay, we all think we're extra special, extra horrible in some way, right?[04:25] Because we're attached to these ego identities.[04:28] But one of the ways is this cool hypothetical question. And the question is this. Imagine that you don't know anything about yourself. You don't know your age. You don't know if you're young or old.[04:39] You don't know if you live in the north or South. You don't know if you live urban or rural area.[04:45] You have no idea. You don't know how you look. You don't know if you're black or white or brown or man or woman or child or baby. You have no idea if you had to choose, though, who or what you might support based only on what you think is right.[05:05] Who or what do you think you would choose? And why Changes things a little, right? You don't know if you're rich or poor.

Selected teachings of Ma's taken from various sources. Anandamayi Ma ( 30 April 1896 – 27 August 1982) was a Bengali Saint, described by Sivananda Saraswati (of the Divine Life Society) as "the most perfect flower the Indian soil has produced." Precognition, faith healing and miracles were attributed to her by her followers. Paramahansa Yogananda translates the Sanskrit epithet Anandamayi - as "Joy-permeated" in English. This name was given to her by her devotees in the 1920s to describe her perpetual state of divine joy. This episode of The Kriya Yoga Podcast, we explore the necessity of focus. Key Points: Focus and Intentionality in Spiritual Practice: Ryan Kurczak emphasizes that achieving spiritual goals requires focus on actions aligned with those goals and letting go of distractions. Yoga's Definition in the Sutras: He references Patanjali's Yoga Sutras, particularly the idea that yoga is about ceasing fluctuations of the mind, allowing connection with the eternal self or "Purusha." Concentration as a Core Skill: Spiritual practice demands developing concentration, a skill that enables one to transcend life's constant changes and achieve inner peace. Example of the Sleepless Saint: Kurczak draws on "Autobiography of a Yogi" where the Sleepless Saint describes the extensive meditation required for enlightenment, showing that dedication over decades fosters deep spiritual insight. Realistic Spiritual Growth: Although intense practice can lead to enlightenment, Kurczak underscores that small, regular meditation also brings significant progress, reducing the fear of death and afterlife anxieties. Stages of Conscious Growth: Early life experiences, shaped by past karma, lead to conscious awareness, ultimately allowing adults to make mindful choices towards spiritual maturity. Ego and Identity: Moving beyond personal ego is crucial, as spiritual progress involves letting go of individual identity in favor of unity with the larger self. Long-Term Commitment: Spiritual growth is rooted in consistent, uninterrupted practice over many years, coupled with respect and devotion, a point supported by both the Sleepless Saint's example and the Yoga Sutras. Patience and Allowing Natural Progression: Rather than forcing intense experiences, one should allow spiritual progress to unfold naturally, letting each stage build a solid foundation for the next. Universal Spiritual Lessons: Finally, Kurczak emphasizes that all spiritual work, even minimal, contributes to clarity, inner peace, and alignment with one's spiritual aspirations. These points underscore the significance of patience, self-awareness, and dedication in spiritual practice, offering guidance for practitioners at any stage of their journey. - If you would like to participate in future live sessions consider becoming a member of The Kriya Yoga Online Patreon Community or applying to the Kriya Yoga Apprenticeship Program.
