We are designed by God to be in communion with Him.
My conversation with Reward Sibanda is a deep dive into the spiritual practice of fasting. Reward grew up immersed in fasting as a cultural and religious tradition in Zimbabwe. But it wasn't until later that he grasped the profound theological significance behind it. Fasting is about aligning our whole being - body, mind, and spirit - with the will and presence of God. It's not some outdated ritual, but a powerful spiritual discipline. When we fast, we quiet the noise of our physical appetites and mental chatter, allowing our spirit to ascend and commune with God. This realignment is what enables the kind of faith and prayer that Jesus says can move mountains. Fasting humbles our soul, elevates our spirit, and puts us in a posture to help with unbelief. Reward's insights challenge us to see fasting not as a chore, but as a gift God has given us. In an age of constant distraction and self-centeredness, fasting offers a way to reorient ourselves towards the holiness and mystery of God. It has the power to revive our souls, renew our minds, and cleanse our bodies. This is a conversation that just may change the way you approach your relationship with God. Reward lays out a compelling case for why fasting should be a regular part of the Christian life today. So join us as we learn why and how to fast. A devotional study about the difference between complaining directly to God about things in our lives that are disturbing or frustrating us, vs murmuring to others about how God is dealing with you. There is a subtle, but very important difference, as we will see with some Bible story references.Numbers 14:26-27 KJVAnd the LORD spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying, “How long shall I bear with this evil congregation, which murmur against Me? I have heard the murmurings of the children of Israel, which they murmur against Me.”Related Podcasts:— Preparation for the End Times— Lessons from the Book of Job #1— Lessons from the Book of Job #2— Lessons from the Book of Job #3— Lessons from the Book of Job #4— Lessons from the Book of Job #5 — Missing the Mark— The Gospel of Opposition— Search Me, O GodRelated Podcasts at TrueWisdom:— Preparation to do Great Things— The People Rebelled— Complaints, Complaints, ComplaintsSupport the showIf you have any questions or comments, please send them to: BibleQuestions@ASBzone.comDuring many of our podcasts, you will hear us make reference to “The Key Principles of Effective Bible Study,” a document which outlines core concepts shown in the scriptures that will help you better understand many Biblical themes and doctrines. Revelation 14 and 15 reveals God's righteous judgment and the triumph of His redeemed people. The wrath of God is sobering, yet His mercy offers salvation through Christ, our true Passover Lamb. Genuine faith is found in surrendering to Him, living with no reserve, no retreat, and no regrets, secure in His eternal kingdom.

In this episode, we dive deep into spiritual exploration, questioning the structures and belief systems that shape our connection to God and truth. Topics Covered: • Why God sometimes burns it all down: Exploring why moments of destruction and loss can be interventions meant to rebuild what is fractured and untrue. • The incompleteness of religious teachings: A personal journey into how traditional religious texts and practices may fall short and what's missing from these teachings from my own experience. • Exposing the New Age trap: Unpacking the diluted foundations of New Age spirituality and how it can lead us away from truth held within our own BODY rather than toward it. • Reclaiming your connection to God: Understanding that you have direct access to ORGANIC truth within your own BODY, without the need for external constructs or intermediaries. This episode challenges the narratives we've been taught and inspires you to rediscover a more organic and personal connection to God, organic frequency and truth. Saint Athanasius ChurchContra Mundum SwaggerVideo Version
I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Tuesday morning, the 1st of October, 2024, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today. We start in the Book of Genesis 18:17: “And the Lord said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing,…?” Abraham spent a lot of time with the Lord. The Lord was about to obliterate Sodom and Gomorrah off the face of the earth, but first He warned His servant, Abraham, about what was to happen because Abraham spent time in communion with the Lord. We need to spend time with God if we want to hear His still small voice speaking to us. I read a beautiful little quotation from an anonymous writer who said, “Abraham in communion with God knew long before Lot in Sodom, of the destruction of that city. Oh for more communion, spent time with the Lord.” If we look at the Book of Acts 9:25: “Then the disciples took him (that is Paul, the Apostle) by night and let him down through the wall in a large basket.” When God is directing our operations, we are safe. The Jews were trying to kill Paul and so the disciples let him out of the city in a basket which they lowered down from the city wall. God always makes a way out for those who know Him. One of my favourite scriptures is Daniel 11:32:”…but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.” Many years ago, I was preaching in a large stadium in Kwazulu-Natal. I made an outrageous statement. The farmers had been warned, especially the marginal farmers - “Don't plant your crops because it is not going to rain, el Nino is on its way.” I was so angry that day on that platform, I said, “To hell with el Nino.” I wasn't swearing, I actually meant it. “I am going back to the farm to plant potatoes!” Now, I didn't do it because I wanted to be a hero. I did it because God wanted me to make that statement to encourage the poor people to have faith and plant their crops, otherwise they were going to eat nothing. And the rest, of course, we know, is history. God gave me a crop of potatoes out of dry land with no irrigation.Today, trust Jesus and He will show you what to do. God bless you and goodbye.
One of our values is "we are becoming people who live in communion with God". Three members of our body share stories of how they have come to live more deeply in communion with God.
What does it mean that the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever?
Episode 136 - This final episode of Fr Danda's sabbatical reflections concentrates on our priorities. What does a life in full communion with God actually look like? Are we striving for that life or merely getting by on our own wants and needs? Hosts: Fr Sean Danda & Nathanael Rea
We find complete joy and fulfillment in the presence of the Lord.

It is exceedingly acceptable to God, even our Father, that we should thus hold communion with him in his love, — that he may be received into our souls as one full of love, tenderness, and kindness, towards us. Flesh and blood is apt to have very hard thoughts of him, — to think he is always angry, yea, implacable.

This episode comes in response to several comments I have received over the last few months from people struggling with the difference between the traditional idea of eternal life as endless individual existence in fellowship with God and nondual union with God which is often imagined as absorption into God and the loss of any sense of personal identity.
