In 2 Thessalonians 2:13-15, we receive the charge to stand firm. Before Paul's gives that command, he reminds the Thessalonians of the work that the Lord has done. We do not just stand firm as Christians, we specifically stand firm in the light of the perfect character, work, and grace of our God. We stand firm in the truth, realizing He is the One empowering us and holding us all of the way!

Closing out a series in 1 Timothy, Pastor Jim Essian takes the to two verses he calls "utterly unpreachable" — 1 Timothy 6:15-16 — and unpacks who God actually is: the blessed God, the only sovereign, the King of kings, immortal, dwelling in unapproachable light. But the good news is the God we can't approach has already approached us. A message about fighting the good fight, finishing the good confession, and being rich in good works — not to earn God, but because he's already given himself to us.

Darkness does not get the final word when God says, “Let there be light.” We slow down with Genesis 1 and let that first creative command become personal again, not as a distant Bible moment, but as a living invitation to breathe, receive, and come close to the Father's heart. it is amazing how God comes into someone's life and brings a reality that's not their expectation. she received the living water and left the water part of her exchange at the well. she will thirst again but she evangelized her whole village and gave them the opportunity that the Messiah gave her to receive the living water. outkast by her culture and society and rejected by Israel but God who's no respect of person came into her life in the form of Jesus the Messiah and gave her enlightenment at one of her most darkest moments. we should learn that God will softly come into our life and hopefully we will have a ear to hear.

He walked with clarity and conviction in the face of menacing dogs, water cannons, angry mobs, and violent police and never seemed afraid.  What gave him this courage? In this sermon, we will hear his own testimony from his book Stride Toward Freedom: the Montgomery Story, as Dr. King shares what enabled him to move from paralyzing fear to courageous action. This time of year, our eyes are drawn to all sorts of things. Look at those Christmas lights! Look at the present I got! Have you seen one of these before? In this week's Divine Birth Announcement, God uses Simeon and Anna to call our attention to something more important. We are to look at Jesus and see God's salvation for all people.

What are your favorite memories at Christmas? For me, it's putting up the Christmas tree, and then adding all the lights and ornaments and lighting up our living room.Every December we hang lights that drive out the darkness. But sometimes circumstances bring a darkness.The darkness of feeling lonely while you see everyone else with friends and family.The darkness of grief over lost Christmases with loved ones due to separation or death.The darkness of anxiety of being enough, doing enough, going enough. It's exhausting.The darkness of sin that produces shame and guilt that hang over souls like a thick fog that won't lift.The great news - Jesus conquers and drives out all darkness. Because the incarnation of Jesus is real, the light of the world has come and the darkness has not overcome Him. My darkness, your darkness, all darkness, has to flee in the presence of Jesus.In our Christmas season, we want to explore how the light of Jesus can drive away any darkness that overshadows our lives. So, come and bring all your stuff. You don't have to leave it at home when you come to Jesus. You don't have to pretend. Come and bring your darkness and surrender it and receive his light.Jesus truly is Light in the Darkness - and you will realize that He is Light in Your Darkness.
