Why have we misunderstood what is normally involved in spiritual growth? What does it mean to say that our God is a withdrawing God?” And what do we do when the bible becomes boring and prayer seems pointless? In this powerful message from Redeemer Church, Pastor Josh Gatewood unpacks the end of Paul's first missionary journey in Acts 14:19-28. He highlights four marks of the early church—constant opposition, gospel preaching, pastoral leadership, and deep discipleship—while challenging believers to pursue a thriving summer walk with Jesus rather than merely surviving it. Through themes of supernatural change, uncomfortable sacrifice, and frequent encouragement, this sermon equips you to deepen your faith, stay rooted in community, and keep your eyes fixed on Christ even amid summer disruptions and trials. Mark sits down with Mitchell Johnson, a church planter being sent out from Cornerstone to launch The Way Church in Austin, Texas. Mitchell shares his remarkable story of growing up in New Orleans, surviving Hurricane Katrina, a crisis of suicidal despair in high school, and ultimately finding faith in Jesus at Texas Tech University. In this powerful sermon from Redeemer Church in Midland, Texas, Pastor Jason unpacks Paul's first missionary journey in Acts 13 and reveals the essential relationship between the Law and the Gospel. He shows how the Law reveals God's holy character and our inability to obey perfectly—leading either to pride or despair—while the Gospel brings the good news of forgiveness, rest, and transformation through Jesus Christ, who fulfilled the Law on our behalf. A timely message for anyone tired of guilt-driven religion, reminding us that Christianity is not “try harder” but “come to Jesus” for true freedom and grace. In this inspiring sermon from Redeemer Church in Midland, Texas, dive into Acts 13:1-12, where the diverse church in Antioch worships the Lord and fasts as the Holy Spirit sets apart Barnabas and Saul (Paul) for their groundbreaking first missionary journey. Through the bold confrontation with the false prophet Bar-Jesus (Elymas) and the astonishing conversion of the intelligent Proconsul Sergius Paulus, the gospel begins its explosive spread across the Roman Empire. This message challenges believers to embrace true worship—moving from a self-centered posture of receiving to a life of sacrifice, service, and mission—as the heart of a gospel-centered missional family. In this powerful message from Redeemer Church in Midland, Texas, Pastor Jason Hatch explores Acts 11:19-30 and the birth of the church in Antioch—the diverse, missional launching pad for global Christianity. What began as persecution in Jerusalem became a catalyst for the gospel to spread to Gentiles, forming a healthy, messy, generous church that discipled new believers deeply while boldly reaching the lost. This sermon challenges us to move beyond merely attending church to becoming the church—living on mission so that our lives and our congregation reflect the same bold, outward-focused faith that first earned followers of Jesus the name “Christians.” Website: redeemermidland.org Instagram: instagram.com/redeemermidland Facebook: facebook.com/RedeemerMidland At Redeemer, we seek to be a Gospel-Centered, Missional Family. On Easter Sunday at Redeemer Church in Midland, Texas, Pastor Jason Hatch powerfully unpacks the bold claims of Jesus Christ — that He is God in the flesh, the Creator, the only way to heaven, and the forgiver of sins. He then shows how the resurrection serves as the ultimate proof of those claims, turning despair into living hope for the disciples and for us today. This timely message calls every listener to move beyond indifference or seeing Jesus as merely a good teacher, and instead respond with full surrender — making Him both Lord and Savior of their lives. In this powerful sermon from Redeemer Church in Midland, Texas, pastor Jason focuses on Palm Sunday and the triumphal entry of Jesus in Luke chapter 19, highlighting how Jesus revealed Himself as King—but not in the way people expected. The crowd longed for a political savior who would overthrow Rome and bring immediate peace and prosperity. Instead, Jesus entered Jerusalem humbly on a donkey, fulfilling prophecy and showing that He came not to meet their wants, but their deeper need. In this powerful sermon from Redeemer Church in Midland, Texas, pastor Jason walks through Acts 11 and highlights a major turning point in the early church: the gospel is for everyone, not just one group of people. Through Peter's experience, the church realizes that God offers salvation freely to all, and the key response is repentance. The pastor emphasizes that repentance is the true “door” to life—both abundant life now and eternal life with God. While many messages focus on love or blessing, the Bible consistently shows that repentance is central to faith. In this powerful sermon from Redeemer Church in Midland, Texas, the pastor explores Acts 10:1-33, where God orchestrates a divine encounter between the apostle Peter and Cornelius, a devout Roman centurion. Through visions—an angel to Cornelius and a sheet of unclean animals to Peter—God reveals that the gospel is for everyone, breaking down barriers between Jews and Gentiles, declaring that what God has made clean should not be called common. This pivotal moment marks the explosive spread of the gospel to all nations, emphasizing that every person is unclean due to sin but can be truly cleansed only through faith in Jesus Christ. If you're a regular listener, you know that we typically feature conversations with parents who have experienced the loss of a child on this podcast. However, when a good friend posted a link to this sermon on Romans 8:28 in our private “While We're Waiting – Support for Bereaved Parents” Facebook group a couple weeks ago, I knew it was something I wanted to share with you. Kirk Miller is the speaker, and he is a member of Redeemer Church in Huntsville, Alabama. He's a former pastor and church planter and now is editor of digital content at Logos where he edits and writes for Word by Word. I wanted to share this because I know what a complicated relationship many bereaved parents have with Romans 8:28! This often is the first verse that those who are trying to help a grieving parent will quote. Kirk acknowledges how this verse, offered too quickly, can feel less like a lifeline and more like a slap in the face—rushing sufferers toward a silver lining, dismissing real pain, or subtly implying that ongoing grief is a failure of faith. In this episode, Kirk will offer six clarifications on what this this scripture means – and does not mean – for those who are suffering. I pray that this sermon both enlightens and encourages you, just like it did for me. In this powerful sermon from Redeemer Church in Midland, Texas, Pastor Josh Gatewood highlights in Act 9:32-43 how Jesus consistently calls, heals, and uses people whom society overlooks, doubts, or disqualifies. Throughout Scripture, Jesus moves toward the unlikely—sinners, outsiders, the broken, and the ordinary—not because of their qualifications, but because of His grace and purpose. God's kingdom advances not through human strength or status, but through surrendered hearts willing to respond in faith. The message encourages listeners to see themselves through Jesus' eyes rather than their past, failures, or labels. No one is too far gone, too weak, or too insignificant for God to use. When Jesus calls, He doesn't wait for perfection—He invites obedience, and He does the transforming work along the way. In this powerful sermon from Redeemer Church in Midland, Texas, Pastor Jason Hatch unpacks Acts 8:26-40, recounting Philip's Spirit-led encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch on a desert road. Through the eunuch's humble search for truth in Isaiah 53, Philip explains how Jesus fulfills the prophecy as the suffering servant who died for our sins, leading to the man's genuine conversion, immediate baptism, and joyful departure—potentially carrying the gospel to Africa. In this powerful sermon from Redeemer Church in Midland, Texas, Pastor Josh Gatewood explores Acts chapter 8, where persecution scatters believers, leading Philip to proclaim Jesus in Samaria—breaking down deep ethnic and cultural barriers—with signs, healings, and great joy following. The message contrasts Saul (later Paul) the persecutor turned apostle, ordinary disciple Philip, and Simon the sorcerer who sought the Holy Spirit's power for personal gain rather than true surrender to Jesus, highlighting how the gospel unites diverse people, exposes false spirituality, and calls believers to love enemies, proclaim Christ amid opposition, and prioritize the person of Jesus over mere power. Teach Us To PrayFebruary 08, 2026Teacher: Pastor Dave BrownAsk and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if your son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!— Matthew 7:7-11 (Luke 11:9-13)3 Reasons for Unanswered Prayers:Not “no” but “not yet”Complex GoodsEvil ExistsGod does not delay to give what he has promised; rather, by delaying he stretches desire. By stretching desire he enlarges the soul. By enlarging the soul he makes it capable of receiving what he is preparing to give.— AugustineGod always gives us just what we need, himself. He even works to stretch our hearts so that we are able to receive what he gives.Safety and security are two idols we let go unchecked in the American church.“Safe? ... Who said anything about safe? 'Course he isn't safe. But he's good. He's the King, I tell you”— C.S. LewisGracious Father, you are the God of peace, the sovereign King who gathers one Kingdom from many nationsand calls us to belong wholly to you and to one another;Teach us to be with you before we strive to do for you.Quiet our anxious hearts, loosen our grip on lesser allegiances, and form in us the mind of Christ.Where opinions differ, give us charity.Where fears rise, give us trust.Where we are tempted to divide, make us one.As we seek the future of Redeemer Church, guide us by your Spirit.Grant us wisdom in discernment, patience with one another, and courage to follow wherever you lead. Make us a praying people before we are a decisive people, that our life together may reflect the peace and unity of your Kingdom.Through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.Amen.

This sermon from Pastor Josh Gatewood at Redeemer Church in Midland, Texas, powerfully explores why worldly success, fame, and achievements—like those of Johnny Manziel and Jim Carrey—ultimately leave us empty, as our hearts were made for Jesus alone. Drawing from the Great Commission in Matthew 28:16-20, he calls believers to embrace Jesus' mission of making disciples of all nations through following Him wholeheartedly, overcoming barriers like sin, selfishness, setbacks, success, and suffering by surrendering everything to Christ. With encouragement to pursue authentic discipleship in community, the message inspires us in 2026 to live as a gospel-centered people who find true fulfillment in joining Jesus' eternal work.
