Gary had a weekly segment on Heartland Radio for quite some time where he’d test new material out on us and the listeners but we’ve never really had the chance to interview him in depth. So, after the release of his new comedy special “The Great Depresh” released on HBO this past weekend Gary was nice enough to give us the opportunity. (7:35 - 44:13) This is a 40 minute interview that dives deep. It dives deep into Gary’s life-long struggle with depression. It dives deep into how he almost lost that struggle. It dives deep into how he was able to not only get healthy enough to leave in-patient treatment, but how he got healthy enough to resume his standup career and build a special that tells the story of his victory over this horrible disease. Oh, and Judd Apatow produced it. No big deal.
If you don't watch Heartland Radio 2.0 on YouTube, you might want to at least give this episode a peek because the boys are in a new studio with a brand new look. It's not The Pat McAfee Studio but it is the new Heartland Radio studio and we dig it. Today the boys talked about their favorite bite-size oven snacks, their favorite bands from high school and detail plans for the future as far as this podcast is concerned. They closed the episode with some great listener questions and Friday Bangerz. See yuz in a couple weeks!
Today's episode features two great guests. They kick things off with friend of the show, IndyCar driver Conor Daly, who just finished 10th in this year's 103rd running of the Indianapolis 500. Conor explains to the boys what happened during the confusing restart with 17 laps remaining and how it effected his fight for position and catches them up on his life. Also joining the show is Rich Ragains, a standup comedian based out of Louisville, KY. He's one of Todd's best friends in comedy and happened to be passing through Indianapolis so he stopped in the studio to have a chat and introduce himself to the Heartland Radio family. It's a fun one, come and have a good time with us. This episode features @toddmccomas, @Digz, @nickmaraldo, @tyschmit, @HeyGorman, @VivalaZito, @ConorDaly22, and @richragains.
