BUZZ creator Michael Hemphill also chats with Kat Pascal and Iliana Sepulveda about public events happening throughout Southwest Virginia to celebrate Hispanic Heritage, and learns why the celebration spans half of two months. Are you a nonprofit with an event that we could help promote? Or a marketing problem we could help fix? At the midpoint of Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept. 15-Oct. 15), hosts Marianela Nunez and Mike Walsh chat with two favorite returning guests, Fr. Rene Canales, pastor, Our Lady of Guaduple Parish Shrine, Lindenwold, NJ and Helen Persing, principal, Saint John Paul II Elementary School, Stratford, NJ. Fr. Canales and Mrs. Persing have been working together as pastor and principal for only a year, but their individual work with Hispanic populations has been at the forefront of their daily lives for many years. On today's show, we discuss the uniqueness of the many Latino cultures living in the South Jersey region and the benefits that are discovered when they are welcomed into our parish and school communities. Fr. Canales has his own story as well, which we didn't get to chat with him about on the podcast, but should not be missed as he became a U.S. citizen only a few short years ago. Hello Thrivers, Welcome back to another episode of Thriving with Alissa. In this session I talk about my first time experience going to Nashville Tennessee. Why I spent my time there, how I prefer it more than Vegas, and a random fun fact I realized while being out there. I also recently just started in September a new internship position at an historic estate called Sunnlyands (located in Rancho Mirage, right in the Coachella Valley). I'll be sharing information about this beautiful place with so much historic information to share with you and others around the world. I recommend everyone to go, especially if your a local and it's right in your backyard. Lastly, I wrap up the episode touching on Hispanic Heritage Month (Sept.15-Oct.15) how I got asked by a good friend of mine to do speaking zoom engagement for Desert Hot Springs Elementary School and their families. Hear my reaction about it when I first got asked but also how being hispanic has shaped the proud hispanic woman I am today. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to listen -Love #ThrivingwithAlissa --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app
