LHIM Weekly Bible Teachings

Isaiah 35:5-6 and 42:6-7; Luke 4:16-20 Jesus understood from the Scriptures that he was to heal the blind. However, there was no specific instruction given on how to do it. So how did he know what to do? Matthew 12:22-23 With the possessed blind and mute man, he cast out the demon. Matthew 20:29-34 Two blind men cried out to him. Moved with compassion, Jesus touched their eyes. Mark 8:22-26 Jesus took the blind man from Bethsaida by the hand and led him out spitting on his eyes and laying hands on him. The man was not instantly healed. Mark 10:46-52 In Jericho, Jesus said, “Go, your faith has made you whole.” John 9:1-41 He spat on the ground and made clay of the spittle and applied the clay to his eyes. Go wash in the pool of Siloam. Each incident required its own unique application, so how did he know? Proverbs 1:20-23 Wisdom calls out everywhere. Proverbs 8:1-12 Wisdom is readily available all the time. Proverbs 9:1-6 Jesus understood the availability of wisdom James 1:5-8 God gives it generously and without reproach. Proverbs 4:1-12 Accurate knowledge is essential, but by itself it is not enough. We need wisdom, just like Jesus needed it. Proverbs 15:2; 18:2; 26:11; 13:20 We have a deficiency−the lack of wisdom. However, this can be our greatest asset for it forces dependency and communication with God. Luke 2:40, 52 Jesus grew in wisdom. Solomon and David lost their wisdom Eph. 1:17; Col. 1:9 Pray for knowledge, wisdom, and understanding. The post Seek Wisdom first appeared on Living Hope.

* Jesus is on His final trip from Galilee to Jerusalem. He has made His way down the Jordan River in order to pass through Jericho. In Jericho, we see that He had two divine appointments with those who would have been considered outcasts of society. * Last week, we saw His interaction with Bar-Timaeus, a blind beggar. * Today, we consider the well known encounter with a chief tax collector named Zacchaeus - a wee little man who climbed a sycamore tree for the Lord he wanted to see! * Again today, we will consider how Jesus provides the opportunity for one who was inquisitive to find the truth - and for the truth to set them free! * This message was presented by Bob Corbin on March 23, 2025 at Family Bible Church in Martinez, Georgia.

Mary Helps Zacchaeus and Helps Us Get Close to Jesus In today's reading (not included within this audio), we hear from the Book of Revelation. We hear about letters to the early Church. There are a series of seven letters to the Church in Asia Minor (present age Turkey). The letters address specific events within the communities. They also address universal tendencies that one finds throughout the body of Christ. The Homily references two of the seven letters, that focus on shortcomings and dangers facing these communities. Jesus tells the communities that the people appear to be alive . . . but they are not. Their goodness is dying. The Homily discusses what the Lord is saying. The people have cut themselves off from life. Hear more within the Homily. In the second letter, the Lord speaks to the next church. He does not discuss their wickedness. He actually, discusses something worse. Their luke-warmness is the focus of the Lord. This is one of the greatest dangers to the human heart. Understand how both of these letters impact us today! Zacchaeus Moves Ahead of the Crowd to See Jesus In the Gospel, the scripture passage occurs in Jericho. In Jericho, Jesus passes through the city and there are great crowds. The story is about Zacchaeus. He cannot see Jesus. He must move to get around the crowd . . . a sort of wall. Zacchaeus moves and climbs a tree to position himself to see the Lord. He gets ahead of the crowd. Zacchaeus wants to see Jesus. He runs and sees a tree which will lift him and ultimately see Jesus. Mary is the tree for all of us. She lifts us so that we can see Jesus. Hear how Mary helps us. Hear how Mary helps Zacchaeus and Helps Us Get Close to Jesus. Understand how he/we need to get ahead and move to be with Jesus. Listen to this Meditation Media.

Pastor Dan Rude finishes our series in Luke. He studies how Jesus enters Jericho on his way to Jerusalem. In Jericho, Jesus demonstrates his power over sickness and mercy towards sinners by healing a blind, begging man. He also explains an example of true biblical faith in Christ.

We now turn the page to Luke chapter 19. We begin with verse 1. Jesus is now entering into Jericho. In Jericho we meet a man who was a tax collector. But not just a tax collector. Luke writes he was a chief tax collector and he was rich. Luke also let's us know that he was small of stature, that is he was short in height. His name was Zacchaeus. He wanted to see Jesus. It soon came about that Jesus saw him up in a tree and said to him to come down. The Lord wanted to stay at Zacchaeus' house that day. As you will read and hear, there was great joy and rejoicing in that house that day. This man's heart was changed to the point of salvation. In Joshua Chapter Two, before God's people crossed the Jordan River, Joshua sent two spies ahead. In Jericho they encountered a prostitute named Rahab — and her message of faith and act of courage has echoed through the generations. She taught those spies, and us as well, an invaluable lesson: what we focus on changes everything.

Listen to Apostle Joshua is introduce this month's bible week to us.  Today on day on the Bible week. We learnt that the cross existed even in the old testament. MYSTERY OF THE CROSS In the story of Adam in the garden of Eden his choose of path was like the cross left or right. In the story of Abraham he obeyed God which was a choice of either right or left. Moses to obey God went to Egypt ( the left side was pharaoh was given time to redeem himself but he disobeyed he word of faith that led to faith) the right side was the Israelites. In the story of David and Goliath two hills and valley it rep the cross david told the Philistines to atop cursing God but that led to their death. In Jericho the cross was there as the Israelites were marching around it each day it was time for the people in Jericho to repent but they didn't. Other stories that represented in Esther's story where the king chose the people of God. When you obey the Lord and your cross gets bigger and stronger. When you despise the cross the cross departs from but we thank the Lord for the cross. Put your focus on Jesus not yourself. The Lord introduces the cross to you in small and big visitations. Can he trust you with a small cross to keep on growing it? Are you faithful with he small cross?

Jesus made a habit of spending time with all the wrong people.  In Jericho, a hot, dusty city near the Dead Sea, Jesus encountered the unsavory Zacchaeus on one occasion.  On another, his ears were assaulted by the cries of an unwashed, blind beggar, yelling out his name, calling him "Son of David."  This figure who struggled to get Jesus' attention actually has a lot to teach us about authentic faith.
