Jars of Clay | 2 Corinthians 4 by Osterville Baptist Church
Well, that's (thankfully) a wrap on the Syracuse regular season. When someone at church youth group busted out some Jars Of Clay, watch out. The guys have a lot of "old people" traits. And so much more on a Wednesdee!
We've been Much Afraid to cover Jars of Clay's sophomore record, but it's time to face our fears. We got off to a rocky start with their self-titled, but we're open to a Truce now that they've left their drum loops behind them. Whether this record leaves us feeling Overjoyed or Weighed Down, we won't trade our love for Tea And Sympathy. If you like what you hear, please rate, review, subscribe, and follow!Connect with us here:Email: contact@churchjamsnow.comSite: https://www.churchjamsnow.com/IG: @churchjamsnowTwitter: @churchjamsnowFB: https://www.facebook.com/churchjamsnowpodcastPatreon: https://www.patreon.com/churchjamsnowpodcast
A 16-minute guided audio meditation on 2 Corinthians 4:5-11, using Lectio Divina. This meditation emerged as a reflection on the human capacity for bringing both beauty and pain into the world. While this is true collectively, it is also true on an individual level. We are all capable of bringing forth beauty and harm, and […] The post Jars of Clay: Lectio Divina appeared first on Contemplative at Home.
You may have noticed here at a Daily Walk we're all about preaching and exalting Christ. You know that really should be the focus of any life and ministry. If it isn't, we've gotten off track! As we turn back to Second Corinthians today, we notice some in the church had lost focus. They received this letter from the apostle Paul reminding them that the ministry is to be about Jesus. It's a good reminder for us today as we so often struggle in that department. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1368/29
Pastors are leaving the ministry in great numbers, often due to discouragement. But they're not the only ones. Some are giving up on their marriage, others are leaving a friendship or job for similar reasons. It's easy to lose heart and want to give up the ministry God has for us. Today on A Daily Walk pastor John Randall will share what Second Corinthians four has to say to us, that can serve as a powerful motivator. To support this ministry financially, visit: https://www.oneplace.com/donate/1368/29
Join us today as Pastor John continues his sermon series on "Becoming A Servant of God" with todays topic being "Treasure in Jars of Clay". giving us four reasons a believer should never lose heart, eight points on contrasting the eternal over the temporary, and five life lessons to help you not lose heart. Key Passage: 2 Corinthians 4. February 2nd 2025
Jesus first miracle was the miraculous transformation of water into wine in the jars of clay at the wedding feast in Cana. The Early Church Fathers teach us that this miracle done in the presence of His disciples showed the reason for the Incarnation. That we, the jars of clay as St. Paul says in 2 Corinthians 4, are so completely transformed within by the healing work of Christ that we become earthen vessels distributing the blessedness of Christ to every soul around us.

We are wrapping up our study of 2 Corinthians this Sunday. As we come to the end of Paul's letter, we find him boldly declaring what an authentic following-Jesus-way-of-life looks like and challenging his readers to evaluate whether the truth of the gospel has transformed their lives, or if they're still stuck in old patterns of sin. It was an urgent plea for them to grow up in their faith! Is the truth of the gospel transforming your life? Are you different today because of steps of obedience to Jesus you've taken this past year? Or, are you, like some of the Corinthians, stuck in old habits and patterns, unsure of how to break free or even, if you really want to? I invite you to join us this Sunday for the conclusion of our series: Jars of Clay - His Strength :: Our Weakness. Our service is at 11 AM. You'll find us on Facebook, YouTube, or by clicking the Join Us Sunday button on our website. Or better yet, come join us in person! If 11 AM doesn't work for you, the service will be available on-demand, so that you can watch at a time that works better for your schedule. When God chose Bethlehem of all places as the birthplace of His Son, He was sending us a message. Why didn't He choose Jerusalem, the religious capital of Israel? Why not Rome, the capital of a mighty empire? Why not Athens, the center of philosophical thought in the ancient world? Why not Alexandria, the seat of learning and education at that time? Why would God choose the little town of Bethlehem? In today's devotional, Dr. Michael Youssef explores God's choice of Bethlehem as the birthplace of the Messiah. What gives something its true worth? Is it the outward appearance, the label, or the contents within? In this inspiring message, Pastor Doug unpacks 2 Corinthians 4:7-10, reminding us that as believers, we are like fragile clay jars carrying an immeasurable treasure—the Gospel of Jesus Christ.Through life's struggles and brokenness, we often feel inadequate or undervalued. But this sermon reveals a life-changing truth: our value doesn't come from what we do or how we appear—it comes from the God who placed His Spirit within us.Join us as we explore the resilience found in Christ, the beauty of being a vessel for His glory, and how even brokenness can be used to fulfill God's purpose. Whether you're feeling hard-pressed, perplexed, or struck down, this message will encourage you to see yourself as God sees you: Treasured.
Have you ever had someone unfairly criticize you? Or maybe misrepresent you? Maybe even flat out lie about you? How did you react? Did you sling some accusations of your own? Let it go? Ignore it? Or just boldly declare that it doesn't matter what anybody else says or thinks? Except the truth is, it does. It matters because as followers of Jesus, we don't just represent ourselves, we represent something and someone much bigger. We stand for something that matters for eternity. And how we represent Him - Jesus - matters a lot! As we come to our study of 2 Corinthians this week, we find Paul speaking truth to power, so to speak. He's been criticized, his motives and authority have been questioned, and he's not just going to let it go. But the way he responds probably isn't what you'd expect. ----------------------------------- TAKE YOUR NEXT STEP ----------------------------------- Let us know that you were watching with us and you will be entered to receive a free prize by completing our Connection Card: http://dsf.church/ecard Give Online: https://www.simplechurchgiving.net/App/Giving/dsf Message Notes: https://www.dayspringfellowship.com/sermons Like, comment & subscribe to stay updated! What does it mean to find true freedom and balance in a world that constantly demands productivity? Join me, Megan Ashley and my best friend, Jackie Hill Perry, as we reflect on a whirlwind year that felt like a decade. Through laughter and exhaustion, we dive into the symbolic moments that defined our journey— Our conversation spans the highs and lows of the year, exploring the grace that sustains us through faith and the Holy Spirit. As 2024 winds down, we share how we're preparing to move forward with renewed purpose. In a culture obsessed with achievements, we unpack the tension between constant busyness and the necessity of rest. Together, we discuss the importance of prioritizing mental and spiritual health, finding fulfillment in our souls, and cherishing family ties over material accomplishments. Grateful for friendships that uplift and sustain us, we also consider stepping back from the chaos of social media to protect our well-being. We recount our journey of friendship from initial skepticism to a deep, genuine bond, reflecting on the spiritual warfare we've faced and the foundation that has helped us overcome adversity. This conversation is a reminder of the power of silence, love, and resilience in the face of trials—drawing parallels to Christ's sinless suffering and the growth that follows hardship. 2 Corinthians 4:7-18 ESV Treasure in Jars of Clay7 But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that the surpassing power belongs to God and not to us. 8 We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair; 9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed; 10 always carrying in the body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be manifested in our bodies. 11 For we who live are always being given over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh. 12 So death is at work in us, but life in you.13 Since we have the same spirit of faith according to what has been written, “I believed, and so I spoke,” we also believe, and so we also speak, 14 knowing that he who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and bring us with you into his presence. 15 For it is all for your sake, so that as grace extends to more and more people it may increase thanksgiving, to the glory of God.16 So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. 17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal. For more information about Redeemer Church Lubbock visit our website at redeemerlubbock.org.

In his sermon, "Treasure In Jars Of Clay," Pastor Micah Stephens draws from 2 Corinthians to remind us that God uses the weak and imperfect to display His glory. We are like fragile containers, broken and full of flaws, yet perfectly suited for God's Spirit to work through us. Pastor Micah explains that if God filled perfect vessels, people might believe it was human strength that accomplished His work. But when those who are broken and weak are used by God, it's clear that only He is responsible for the incredible things that happen.Verse References: 1 Corinthians 3 verses 1-2, 2 Corinthians 2 verse 14, 2 Corinthians 3 verse 3, 2 Corinthians 4 verse 6, Psalm 34 verse 18, Isaiah 42 verse 8, Revelation 3 verse 17, 2 Corinthians 12 verses 9-10, Daniel 3 verse 25, Matthew 28 verse 20, Romans 8 verse 31, Deuteronomy 31 verse 6, Philippians 3 verse 10Make sure you subscribe to this channel and follow us on all our platforms to always stay up to date with our latest content! And you can always head over to our website for any general information!https://godspeak.comPrayer/NeedsIf you have any needs, or have a willingness to be used to meet various need in the body, please email info@godspeak.com. The apostle Paul was no stranger to ministry's many strains. Yet for all his afflictions, he neither lost heart nor tampered with the truth. How?
God has shone in our hearts to give light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. Paul says that this immeasurable treasure resides in us, mere “jars of clay,” to show that this gift is about God and not us.
