Welcome to Ep. 300! Join us as we celebrate a milestone event by literally getting the band back together! We are joined by our former bandmates, Brandon Still & Kent Aberle, who are currently members of the southern rock juggernaut: BLACKBERRY SMOKE. In the early aughts, the 4 of us shared the stage in the power pop tour de force known as BIG JACK PNEUMATIC. Thank you to all who have contributed to or listened to the show. Let's celebrate! Cheers!!!What have we done for the last 299 episodes here at InObscuria? Every show, Kevin has opened the crypt to exhume and dissect aural artifacts from his personal collection, an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. Robert has tested his endurance of the macabre and provided valuable, if not obtuse and titillating, feedback for your listening pleasure! Our hope is that we've turned you on to something that was lost on your ears, or something you had simply forgotten about, or that (in our opinion) should have been the next big thing. Looking forward to another 300!!!Songs this week include:Big Jack Pneumatic – “In Cars I Ran” from Live @ Star Bar 1.29.2003 (2003)Tom Troccoli's Dog – “Todo Para Mi” from Tom Troccoli's Dog (1985)…And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead – “Will You Smile Again For Me” from Worlds Apart (2005)Big Jack Pneumatic – “Goodbye” from Half-Ass Cool EP (2003)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/https://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it: InObscuria StoreIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/

Hello, Kaiju Lovers…and welcome, Listeners with Attitude! Nate takes advantage of his short time back on the Island to produce a Patreon-sponsored episode requested by first-time MIFV MAX member Andrew Wynja “The Ninja,” who picked the Power Rangers: Time Force VHS “Clash for Control.” So, naturally, Nate couldn't do this without his former Power Trip co-host Michael Hamilton. These episodes feature the first appearance of Wynja's favorite Zord, the amazing mecha-dinosaur Quantasaurus Rex (or Q-Rex), and Nate's Power Ranger “man crush,” Eric Myers, in an epic time travel adventure. But the reason Wynja chose this VHS edition of the episodes is because this was before they were censored in light of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks. Tune to hear about this and more! “Time for…Time Force!” Featuring Andrew Wynja as Frax. Jimmy's Notes on this episode COMING SOON! Send us a textRight now, it feels like the world, and maybe even your own home, is pulling apart at the seams. Conversations that once felt effortless now feel loaded. The people we love can start to feel like strangers. And sometimes, shutting down or avoiding the tough talks just seems easier. But at what cost?Welcome to Love Shack Live, the podcast for people at a relationship crossroads, where daily conflicts, growing emotional distance, and a longing for real connection collide. I'm Staci Bartley, a relationship mentor, joined by my husband and co-host Tom, and our daughter Brooke. Together, we're here to help you navigate love's toughest seasons.Today, we're picking up where we left off with Topaz Adizes, a master of human connection and the creator of the Emmy-winning project The And. He's spent years facilitating raw, unfiltered conversations between people from all walks of life, proving that the right questions can dissolve fear and bring people back together. But here's the question: What's really at the root of division, in our relationships and in the world? And what's the one shift that could change everything about how we relate to each other? If you've ever felt like you're losing someone, not because they've left, but because you just can't seem to reach them anymore, stick with us. This episode isn't just about understanding connection. It's about learning how to create it, even when it feels impossible.

What would it look like if we took Jesus' teaching to love our enemies seriously? Is this practical or ethical in every situation? How can we create more spaces to share a table with those we disagree with? What common ground can we find to see the image of God in all people? Here is a link to the Heineken ad that was shown during the teaching: Worlds Apart

Building an online community is entirely different from making sales through traditional methods like radio ads. Online, the focus is on creating connections, fostering engagement, and discovering unmet needs—often by accident. It's about providing value and letting the community grow organically. In contrast, radio sales are more direct, often intrusive, and rely on grabbing immediate attention. These approaches require completely different mindsets and strategies, highlighting the unique challenges and opportunities of each.
Lawyer Chesa Boudin's professional life has been nearly as tumultuous as his upbringing. He was raised by family friends because his parents—members of the Weather Underground—were incarcerated for crimes committed when he was just 14 months old. Boudin eventually became a progressive San Francisco district attorney representing criminal justice reform. However, he was recalled a few years later. These are his songs. We all live in this world alongside other believers and unbelievers. But that doesn't mean we live just like unbelievers. We are called to live a life divided from this world in behavior and action. How we live in this world demonstrates into which world we are being separated. This week Pastor Taylor Gabbert talks about the divide between believers and unbelievers in Genesis chapter 31. The Cycling Podcast Féminin is back! Returning for the first time since the Tour de France Femmes, Rose Manley and Denny Gray are this month joined by double Olympic gold medallist Jo Rowsell. We look back at the Tour de Romandie where Team SD Worx's Lotte Kopecky dramatically took the overall win at the expense of usual stage racing leader Demi Vollering, doing nothing to quell rumours of a shift at the team. We dig into some of the transfer speculation that has been rife among the women's peloton and we look ahead to the World Championships at the end of September, picking out our top contenders for the relentlessly punchy parcours. Our mini feature this month is on riders who grew up far from the traditional cycling heartlands. Kim Le Court of Mauritius, Antri Christoforou of Cyprus and Catalina Soto of Chile reveal their journeys to the professional ranks and what it is like to line up at most races as the sole representative for their nations. The Odyssey is a very different poem from the Iliad in many ways, but in one way it picks up right where the Iliad leaves off: with the fallout of war and the journey to re-integrate soldiers back into the civil society they came from. Today we begin Odysseus' long journey home, which actually begins at the end and works backward, starting with his son Telemachus' journey to grow to manhod without his dad around. The Serbian-American economist Branko Milanovic is one of the world's leading authorities on inequality. In this KEEN ON America conversation, we talked about Milanovic's interpretation of the history of American economic inequality - from slavery to contemporary capitalism. Why has America become so much unequal over the last fifty years, I asked. And today, in what Milanovic sees as a post neo-liberal age, how does he imagine the future of economic inequality?Branko Milanovic obtained his Ph.D. in economics (1987) from the University of Belgrade with a dissertation on income inequality in Yugoslavia. He served as lead economist in the World Bank's Research Department for almost 20 years, leaving to write his book on global income inequality, Worlds Apart (2005). He was a senior associate at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington (2003-2005) and has held teaching appointments at the University of Maryland (2007-2013) and at the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University (1997- 2007). He was a visiting scholar at All Souls College in Oxford, and Universidad Carlos III in Madrid (2010-11). Professor Milanovic's main area of work is income inequality, in individual countries and globally, including in preindustrial societies. He has published articles in Economic Journal, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Economic Literature, Journal of Development Economics, and Journal of Political Philosophy, among others. His book The Haves and the Have-nots (2011) was selected by The Globalist as the 2011 Book of the Year. Global Inequality (2016) was awarded the Bruno Kreisky Prize for the best political book of 2016 and the Hans Matthöfer Prize in 2018, and was translated into 16 languages. It addresses economic and political effects of globalization and introduces the concept of successive “Kuznets waves” of inequality. In March 2018, Milanovic was awarded (jointly with Mariana Mazzucato) the 2018 Leontief Prize for Advancing the Frontiers of Economic Knowledge. His most recent books are Capitalism, Alone, published in 2019, and Visions of Inequality, published in 2023..Named as one of the "100 most connected men" by GQ magazine, Andrew Keen is amongst the world's best known broadcasters and commentators. In addition to presenting KEEN ON, he is the host of the long-running How To Fix Democracy show. He is also the author of four prescient books about digital technology: CULT OF THE AMATEUR, DIGITAL VERTIGO, THE INTERNET IS NOT THE ANSWER and HOW TO FIX THE FUTURE. Andrew lives in San Francisco, is married to Cassandra Knight, Google's VP of Litigation & Discovery, and has two grown children.Keen On is a reader-supported publication. How do the chains we choose to wear shape the freedom we experience in sharing the Gospel? Exploring Rome's ancient wonders like the Colosseum and the Forum, we see how the city's structures, once symbols of power and oppression, have become landmarks of faith. Paul, imprisoned in Rome, used his chains to spread the Gospel, turning his guards into captives of Christ's message. His boldness, even in chains, reminds us that God's story continues through us. Will we let Christ work in our lives and share His story, regardless of our circumstances?

Can the Gospel really transform a city? In Acts 19, Paul's ministry in Ephesus shows us that it can. Ephesus was a city steeped in wealth, violence, sexual immorality, and power struggles. Yet, the message of Jesus offered something greater than wealth or tradition. Paul's bold preaching led to extraordinary miracles, the spread of the Word, and a city-wide transformation. Even the mighty temple of Artemis couldn't withstand the power of the Gospel. Discover how the teachings of Jesus can offer not just a new way of living but a revolutionary change worth dying for.

Two attempted killings, 14 hours - and a world - apart. In this emergency episode, Yonit and Jonathan discuss the implications of both the assassination attempt on Donald Trump at a rally in Pennsylvania and the Israeli air strike on Gaza aimed at killing Mohammed Deif, one of the masterminds behind October 7. With uncertainty still swirling about both events, what could be their lasting impact? Follow us on Instagram and Facebook: Unholy Podcast.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The Sawi's "peace child" tradition became a bridge to understanding Christ's sacrifice. Similarly, we look at Paul's approach in Athens, finding common ground with intellectuals by highlighting God's fingerprints in nature, history, culture, Jesus, and the church. Join us as we learn how to stand firm and share our faith in today's challenging culture.

Ever felt like someone was out to get you? We've all had those moments where we see others as enemies. How do you handle deep hurt and resentment? When someone you trust tears you down, it's easy to harbor anger and refuse to forgive. In this message, Ben Chaves explores a challenging question: "Are we okay with everyone experiencing the same God we desire for ourselves?" Through the story of Peter in Acts 11 and our own struggles, we learn the importance of praying for those who've hurt us, even when forgiveness feels impossible. Discover how to navigate this tough journey and strive for peace, acceptance, and love just as Jesus did.
Have you ever considered what happens when ordinary people choose to love and obey God? This week, Karl Romeus takes a look into what happens when ordinary people take on extraordinary roles by choosing to obey God's plan for their lives. Derek Redmond's story from the 1992 Olympics gives us a glimpse into unexpected heroism. But what if we extended this love and compassion beyond our immediate family to strangers and even enemies? The transformation of Saul to Paul in Acts Chapter 9 is a powerful example of how an ordinary man, Ananias, played a crucial role in God's plan. Paul's journey from a persecutor to an apostle shows that God uses ordinary people to do extraordinary things. Ever felt like you're on the outside? What if that's exactly where Jesus wants you? This week, Ben Foote takes a deep dive into Acts 8 and talks about how early Christians found common ground with those vastly different from them. Despite deep cultural divides, they connected with others through a shared hunger for healing. Learn how we can bridge our modern divides by understanding our own brokenness and extending grace to those who feel far from it. Let's explore what it truly means to be Jesus-followers in a divided world and how to make disciples in our current times.
Do you ever feel like your kids are speaking a different language? As a dad of four, Jesse has been there, trying to decode teenage slang to connect with them. But it's not just our families where we feel disconnected—it's society at large. We set up dividing lines: Democrat or Republican, Boomer or Millennial, Trucks or Hybrids. This message explores how Jesus' mission was about breaking these barriers and embracing unity amidst diversity. Jesse dives into the book of Acts, where the early church navigated through conflicts and tribalism to spread the good news. Let's discover how we can apply these lessons today, ensuring no one feels like an outsider, and how leaders are called to make sacrifices for the sake of unity and inclusion.
