Join me for a group chat with four practitioners of Wayapa Wuurrk exploring the relevance of Indigenous wisdom & nature connection in our modern world. There are many reasons that our lives today have caused disconnection between us and the people and environments around us. And it's too easy to over look the importance of this. I'm joined by three guests in Australia, Jem Stone, Rebecca Dunn and Sara Jones, along with Debbie Mace in the UK. They've all come together to share about the power of nature connection for our personal, collective and planetary well-being.These four ladies are all practitioners of Wayapa Wuurrk which is an earth connection practice based on ancient Indigenous wisdom, originating in Australia. This is a relaxing chat between like-minded woman and yet at its heart it's also a powerful conversation which demonstrates the place of talking in circle, sharing stories and reconnecting to the world around us.You can learn more about Wayapa Wuurrk at the website: https://wayapa.com/If you're in the UK and would like to connect with Debbie Mace directly you can find her here on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/debbie-mace-639a3b242/-----More from We Are Carbon:The Power Of Food: Connection & Community Group Chat - https://www.wearecarbon.earth/power-of-food-collaboration/Connecting with Textiles: in Conversation with Sharon Kallis - https://www.wearecarbon.earth/sustainable-textiles-sharon-kallis/What Even is Soil?! - a dialogue to support holistic thinking - https://www.wearecarbon.earth/soil-path-to-whole-systems-thinking/-----For a further breakdown of this episode see the timestamps below. 00:00 - Introductions06:50 - "Individual Journey to Collective Well-being"13:55 - Empowering through relationships23:07 - Observation, conversation & story33:58 - Addressing eco-anxiety41:14 - What is Wayapa Wuurrk?46:33 - Bringing Wayapa to the UK50:44 - Personal transformation & global connection
This conversation with Jem Stone is brimming with heartfelt wisdom and important insights about the wellbeing landscape that we all need to hear and can benefit from to help create inclusive spaces where everyone feels welcome and has the opportunity to thrive. Jem is a change maker, thought leader and trailblazer whose mission is to create safer, culturally sensitive spaces in the yoga community, the wellbeing landscape and beyond into every day life. The wisdom Jem shares in this conversation will change the way you think about your relationship to the earth and challenge your view of what it means to be well - the mission of this podcast. To me, expanding our view of wellbeing has to involve the inclusion of First Nations perspectives, the challenges and work to do, the patience and commitment to genuine connection and understanding. In this conversation we get into what safe spaces look like in the wellbeing world and how we can all benefit from and better appreciate the philisophy and ways of being that kept our Australian First Nations people well for over 80,000 years. I encourage you to listen to this episode with an open heart and mind and I invite you before you do to consider the Country you are on. Can you connect deeply to the land? What gratitude can you hold in your heart today for the space you call home? How can you tread lightly on the land today? And how can you open your heart and mind to find a meaningful path to reconciliation? This episode was recorded on Bunurong and Boon Wuurrung land and Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung land. The respected and highly-esteemed, Bush Doctors, a.k.a Jem Panufnik and Rennie Pilgrem, are this week's guests on The RIPEcast. Our good pal, Jem Panufnik (a.k.a Jem Stone), is a true renaissance man: an accomplished Dj and producer, the co-founder of the world famous Fingerlickin' label and a talented illustrator (Fingerlickin is appreciated almost as much for Jem's artwork as for the label's cutting edge sound). As if all that weren't enough, Jem has recently added film and animation to his ever-growing list of artistic accomplishments. Oh, and that clever interpretation of The UNIMOG that we've been using as the artwork for The RIPEcast all year...yeah, we have Jem to thank for that too.... Rennie Pilgrem is equally accomplished in the world of dance music. Himself the founder of a hugely successful dance label, Thursday Club Recordings (now in its 18th year), Rennie is also credited for inventing the sound we know today as Nu-Skool Breaks. As you'll soon appreciate from their RIPEcast, Rennie and Jem as Bush Doctors are a truly unique concoction of funk, disco, house, breaks and a little black magic or "Voodoo Funk" as they like to call it.
