Episode # 202 “I want to take it (my music career) as far as I can”, says singer Sarah Moon. Charismatic, riveting, and commanding are a just a few terms that describe what she brings as singer and performer. While paying respectful homage to a few of her influences including Etta James, Chris Cornell, classic rock and old school blues, her voice and style with hints of classic rock are all her own and she drives home point all the way home on her new record, "Cut & Run". Growing up in a household where her parents worked in live music production, music has always been, in some form or fashion, a big part of what Sarah is about. Call it fate or maybe the subliminal effect of hearing her mother singing around the house, Sarah began singing as a child and landed a gig with the Rapid City Children's Chorus. She then received classical training and continued her musical journey recording music and regularly gigging at venues in Oregon and Canada. Sarah is ready to make a statement with her latest recording and bring her music to the world. Moon assembled an all star team of sorts to bring her musical vision into fruition. Along with her powerful and unique voice, the record features talented writing partner, guitarist, backing vocalist and co-producer Brandon Cook, co-producer keyboardist and percussionist Andy Korn, hard hitting drummer Kyle Baltus, bassist Allen Huter and features guest appearances by Jean-Pierre Garau on keys, The Davis Sisters on vocals, with Lewis Dragulin and Jon Van Cula adding horns to the fold. As if there wasn't already enough talent in the building for the recording session already, it was engineered by #1 Billboard charting San Francisco producer Jaimeson Durr, who has worked with Sammy Hagar, Train and members of The Grateful Dead. The record was tracked at The Hallowed Halls recording studio in Portland Oregon. Track Listing 1. Cut & Run 2. Dignity and Grace 3. Golden Silences 4. I Don't Know 5. Only You Stay 6. The Loyal Order first hatched as a studio project several years ago when Jeff Buehner was approached to write a theme song for a regional outdoor hunting reality show. He reached out to guitarist Brandon Cook for a heavy riff, and the result was a song called Off the Grid (Superhuman). It aired regionally in the Pacific NW for two seasons. A bass player by trade, singing is a new beginning for Jeff. The songs were originally crafted with a different singer in mind, but after laying scratch tracks for the first few songs, the producer (Kevin Hahn) convinced him to lay the final tracks himself. From this songwriting partnership between Buehner and Cook, the songs began to flow. They soon approached Producer Rob Daiker at The Commune in Portland, Oregon, who has crafted major label releases with Slowrush, The Dan Reed Network, and Royal Bliss. Ready For Dead was released March 1, 2019 as a single and music video (Bühner Media/Von Artists/The Orchard) and rang up 50,000 Facebook views in it’s first six weeks and now sits with over 1,000,000 views. With the expertise of Thom Haezart (EMP Label Group), the single found a home in Billboard Mainstream Rock’s Top 40, and Foundation’s Top 50. Rounding out the band is Justin Gibson on guitar, Patrick Young on bass, and Kyle Baltus on the drums. All prominent Pacific NW rock players that have made names for themselves locally and nationally. The Loyal Order’s debut show was with Puddle of Mud to a sold out audience at The Bossa Nova Ballroom on September 27, 2019. Buehner and Cook have been featured in magazines such as Sleazerock, The Decibel Report, Metal Talk, KNAC, The Hard Heavy and Hair Show, Bionic Buzz and others.

Cody Perez of Amerakin Overdose joins the podcast this week. The outspoken and controversial vocalist talks about the latest news with AOD and their latest album. He lets us know how the collaboration with Waylon Reavis came together. Cody and I also discuss the struggle for up and coming bands and how we hate the system of clubs taking cuts of the merch. Cody lets us know if he still has issues with 36 Crazyfists drummer Kyle Baltus (hint....he doesn't). Cody also tells a story about seeing Primer 55 when he was teenager. Had a great chat with Joshua Toomey of the Talk Toomey podcast. Josh has become a sort of podcast mentor to me over the past few months, and we became friends after he heard mutual friend, Kyle Baltus of 36 Crazyfists, on my podcast and gave him a shout out on our ep. Josh and I chat about some of the more head line making moments that have happened on his show. We also delve a little into if there is such thing as a stupid question, which since this recording the podcast, has become a thing....you'll hear more on that in the ep. Sat down with Kyle Baltus of 36 Crazyfists, we discuss how he got into playing drums, the shitty weather in Portland OR, meeting Tommy Lee of Motley Crue, and what it's like to replace one of your musical heroes in one of your favorite bands.
Kyle Baltus calls into the Talk Toomey Podcast from his tour stop in Las Vegas. Kyle and I talk his history with 36 Crazyfists, how he started playing drums and what the future holds for 36CF. Amazing conversation with Kyle. Also on this episode, I breakdown the upcoming Star Wars movie with my good friend Casey Sweet. Casey and I discuss the rumors surrounding Episode 7 and what the future holds for the franchise now that Disney is involved.
