Growing up in a household where her parents worked in live music production, music has always been, in some form or fashion, a big part of what Sarah is about. Call it fate or maybe the subliminal effect of hearing her mother singing around the house, Sarah began singing as a child and landed a gig with the Rapid City Children's Chorus. She then received classical training and continued her musical journey recording music and regularly gigging at venues in Oregon and Canada. Sarah is ready to make a statement with her latest recording and bring her music to the world. Moon assembled an all star team of sorts to bring her musical vision into fruition. Almost smack dab in the middle of Iowa in the historic Valley Junction in West Des Moines lies the Foundry Distillery. Old-Fashioned Football sat down with two of its distillers, head distiller Brian Kuhn and assistant distiller Brandon Cook. The Foundry is close enough to Old-Fashioned Football that we had been there before. However, we didn't realize everything they had to offer and quickly found out how this was the place for custom whiskey. Before we jumped in to whiskey, we talked a little football. Brandon is a Panthers fan, and Brian is a Ravens fan. Given we just did our NFC South preview, we had to ask Brandon some Panthers questions before asking them both some general fantasy football questions. They are open about discussing the racial trauma that has carried through generations of their family history. Last Words presented itself when singer, Jeff Buehner was experimenting with an open tuning on an acoustic guitar, the same as The Rain Song by Led Zepplin. The pre-chorus, “Coins in my eyes, what will my last words be?”, fell into his lap both lyrically and melodically almost instantly. In light of our arc on abuse we have explored the place forgiveness has on our path to healing from our trauma.
