What an amazing bunch of guys to pull this project off and at a vital time when mankind needed Hope. Todd Thanhauser brought this together and gave New Starz a copy of the album. What better way to say Thank You and to give your ears a real big treat and that's to play the whole album and hear Todd talk about his life and how The Lockdown Diaries became. Lockdown Diaries is available to stream and download on Itunes, Amazon, Spotify and all major digital platforms and is also available for purchase at www.ad2020music.com “Mark McNelley and I had discussed the album the album that would become Lockdown Diaries a year earlier when were at Red Rocks in Colorado. If you can't be inspired at Red Rocks, I give up. We began collaboration on the songs that would eventually make up the album in June of 2020 at the height of the pandemic. We wanted to create songs with a positive message and work with friends who we felt would bring positive energy to the project. I had known Dan Reed and Melvin Brannon from Dan Reed Network for a very long time and was a fan of their music and each of them personally. In May of 2020 I told Dan Reed of the idea to do an album with musicians who were home from touring and he asked me who I was going to get to play guitar and bass and I mentioned Greg Smith and Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal as possibilities. I had met Greg Smith from Ted Nugent's band the year before and had called him to tell him of the idea and he thought it was something he was interested in so we stayed in touch as I assembled the rest of the musicians. I had been listening to Ron “Bumblefoot” Thal's latest acoustic album Barefoot 3 and was blown away by his arrangements. I had met Ron also the year before and knew he was an amazing guitar player and also a nice guy so I really wanted him involved if there was a way" says Todd Thanhauser, the band's drummer. The band released their first single from the album, "Ricochet", written by Mark McNelley, Dan Reed and Todd Thanhauser on June 29, 2021. Todd adds, “Ricochet” was the first song we wrote together in June of 2020 and the first time I heard the demo that Dan Reed had sent to us I knew the song was going to be something special.” A.D.2020 "Ricochet" (Official Lyric Video): https://youtu.be/vBxA3OaXpDI In addition, A.D.2020 released a new video on Sunday August 1, 2021, for their cover of the song “Why Can't We Be Friends?” by the band WAR. The track is also featured on their album Lockdown Diaries. The video features the members of A.D.2020 playing the track in the studio and their home studios. The track is fresh and fun with each member taking a swing at lead vocals as well. Recorded on two continents during the pandemic A.D.2020 is a collective studio project featuring in order of appearance in the video. “We discussed doing a remake of this song early in the conversations that lead to the A.D.2020 project. I think the video is great because it shows us all during the lockdown playing and having fun and there are also some moments of humor and fantasy. It's also a bit of a mantra we all live by “ Why Can't We (All Just) Be Friends? “ the world would be a better place if we could all be friends. Our version of the song is the only song I can think of that has 6 lead vocal parts which also makes it a really unique cover. We hope the guys in WAR like the cover of their great song" says Todd Thanhauser. **Explicit Permission has been given by the artist to play the songs and the interview** --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/neil-clark10/message

The Loyal Order first hatched as a studio project several years ago when Jeff Buehner was approached to write a theme song for a regional outdoor hunting reality show. He reached out to guitarist Brandon Cook for a heavy riff, and the result was a song called Off the Grid (Superhuman). It aired regionally in the Pacific NW for two seasons. A bass player by trade, singing is a new beginning for Jeff. The songs were originally crafted with a different singer in mind, but after laying scratch tracks for the first few songs, the producer (Kevin Hahn) convinced him to lay the final tracks himself. From this songwriting partnership between Buehner and Cook, the songs began to flow. They soon approached Producer Rob Daiker at The Commune in Portland, Oregon, who has crafted major label releases with Slowrush, The Dan Reed Network, and Royal Bliss. Ready For Dead was released March 1, 2019 as a single and music video (Bühner Media/Von Artists/The Orchard) and rang up 50,000 Facebook views in it’s first six weeks and now sits with over 1,000,000 views. With the expertise of Thom Haezart (EMP Label Group), the single found a home in Billboard Mainstream Rock’s Top 40, and Foundation’s Top 50. Rounding out the band is Justin Gibson on guitar, Patrick Young on bass, and Kyle Baltus on the drums. All prominent Pacific NW rock players that have made names for themselves locally and nationally. The Loyal Order’s debut show was with Puddle of Mud to a sold out audience at The Bossa Nova Ballroom on September 27, 2019. Buehner and Cook have been featured in magazines such as Sleazerock, The Decibel Report, Metal Talk, KNAC, The Hard Heavy and Hair Show, Bionic Buzz and others.

This week we bring you our in-depth chat with producer & engineer Mike Fraser. Mike's credit list is a Who's Who of rock and metal music. In this conversation, we talk to Mike about many of his notable projects. Getting his start at the legendary Little Mountain Studios in Vancouver in the early 80's, Mike Fraser was in good company right away; working with such production greats as Bob Rock and Bruce Fairbairn among many others. From his early days working on projects such as Rush's Exit...Stage Left, Brian Adams' Reckless, and Loverboy's Notorious, Mike got his feet wet quickly on quality albums. Things would go up a notch in 1987 with Aerosmith's Permanent Vacation. Fraser, Rock, and Fairbairn would collaborate on the making of this comeback album from the Bad Boys from Boston. In this episode, Mike shares some cool behind the scenes stories about making of the album and working with the members of the band during big change in their lives. Mike also reflects on the making of the Pump album that would come out in 1989 and how the experience differed from the previous one. Another pair of albums of great interest to Decibel Geek listener are from the short-lived supergroup Blue Murder. In this conversation, Mike shares his thoughts on working with the band and his opinion on its material. Additionally, Mike Fraser has worked on 5 AC/DC albums starting with 1989's The Razors Edge. In this chat, Mike discusses what it's like working for such a legendary band, their personalities, and more. There have been rumors that AC/DC have recently been in Vancouver working on an album. Does Mike shed any light on these rumors? We asked, you'll have to listen to hear his answer. Other artists discussed include Dan Reed Network, Bad English, The Cult, Thunder, Coverdale/Page, Dio, Metallica and more! Danny Vaughn of Tyketto joins Eric in conversation to take a track by track look back at the band's 1994 sophomore release, Strength In Numbers.  Produced by legendary producer Kevin Elson, their follow-up to Don't Come Easy had a difficult journey making it's way onto shelves following the whole wave of grunge that displaced many bands of the time.  Danny shares his personal memories and all the details behind the album's creation and journey. A solid fan favorite, Strength In Numbers features some songs that were should-have-been monstrous AOR hits of the day - Rescue Me, Catch My Fall, Standing Alone.  But the album also demonstrated the band was interested in growing and branching out.  They were writing deeper, smarter, and more varied songs at the time.  There are some healthy and authentic dashes of blues, Springsteen-esque singer-songwriter, mandolins, harmonicas, Bo Diddly beats, sweeping almost-progressive rockers and so much more. For the 25th anniversary of the album, Tyketto will be doing some touring where they'll perform the full album in its entirety - get those details here.  They also have a new live CD and DVD that captures and ambitious performance featuring horns and strings. On the solo front, Danny has a super-interesting new solo album of "odd songs" in the works and well as his duet project with Dan Reed of Dan Reed Network. If you're familiar with Tyketto, you'll enjoy this in-depth discussion of this classic album.  If you're new to the band, hopefully you'll listen and discover a truly solid rock album from 1994 that you may have missed the first time around.
