No business is safe. No matter where you work, the new business model is to rid the system of its excess weight. Fire, layoff or cut the hours of the employees required to make business a success. Number crunchers don't see eye to eye with the images now tarnished by the American ego and its addiction to employee mistreatment and a bonus check managers will be rewarded with by accepting bad performances for cost cutting accounting numbers. Artist and Actor Sebastian Tillinger Makes His Publishing Debut with a Raw and Searching Memoir of Life in 1999—Written When He Was 25 In HOW THE FERRIS WHEEL WAS BROKEN: A Love Letter to Los Angeles (August, 2026 | Regalo Press / Distributed by Simon & Schuster | $21.00 | Trade Paperback | ISBN: 9798895656778), author Sebastian Tillinger writes an honest, stream-of-consciousness memoir that details his struggles to find work as an actor, audition after demoralizing audition, with 57 characters crammed in his head, while walking the tightrope between art and making money, celebrity parents and his own insecurities. Along with his search for work, purpose, and meaning, Sebastian writes about love in all its messiness. Years after they first met in acting class, he reconnects with Sarah, a "petite stunner" with black hair who grew up in Boulder, Colorado, and was a drummer in an all-girl punk band in the eighties when it mattered. Six years his senior, she is the first woman he had sex with whom he truly loved. He asks Sarah to marry him, mostly to prove he's a man. (“I don't believe in marriage,” he muses. “I don't really know what I'm getting into.”) And he nearly screws up that chance when he gets high in the courthouse while they're waiting to get their marriage license. (Imagine going through the X-ray machine with an eighth of weed and a metal pipe stashed in your pockets… Sebastian did it.)Deeply introspective and wildly entertaining, HOW THE FERRIS WHEEL WAS BROKEN invites us to hop inside 25-year-old Sebastian Tillinger's head and travel back to 1999. I hope after reading the book, you'll agree that Sebastian's trip was never dull. Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

From the heart of "mossy, briny, piss-colored" 1970s Times Square to the heights of MTV News and the A&R suites of Atlantic Records, Tim Sommer has lived a dozen lives in the service of music. Dispatches From the Kingdom of Outsiders is a defiant, soulful map of the ephemeral nation built by the lonely and the weird young people who found their first true home in a Sex Pistols 45 or a picture of David Bowie. Part memoir, part high-octane cultural criticism, this collection documents a vanished era when knowledge was precious currency and a T-shirt was a flare sent up to find fellow survivors. Whether he's trying to get the Clash to sign a picture of the Beatles, sitting in a dorm room with U2 or explaining why "Wooly Bully" is the heaviest song in history, Sommer writes with the infectious "bizarrely certain" passion of the 16-year-old office boy he once was. This is more than a book about rock and roll, it is a celebration of the "Kingdom" where admission is free, and outsiders finally belong.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

Nir Peled, author of Beyond 100 Percent: Rebuilding Life After It Breaks (May 1, 2026)? Rooted in a background spanning Israeli Defense Forces leadership, high-pressure technology executive roles, and the quiet wisdom of his Holocaust-survivor grandmother, Nir built a practical system for healing that delivered results few thought possible, one that took him beyond 100%.Life can change in a heartbeat. What will you do when it happens to you? When Nir Peled collapsed on the floor of his home office from a stroke at age 49, everything changed. In an instant, he lost his speech, mobility, and sense of identity. In the months that followed, he embarked on a grueling journey of rehabilitation, rebuilding his body, mind, and cognitive function, and in the process, uncovered more than he ever expected. The stroke wasn't Nir's first brush with death. He has survived a car bombing in the Sinai Desert, anaphylaxis that ended his military career, the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, a violent armed robbery deep in the Amazon jungle, cancer that spread fast, and a serious motorcycle accident. Each crisis taught him something different about resilience and rebuilding, but the stroke became his greatest teacher, revealing how all those lessons could come together into a framework for moving forward after life falls apart. This book began as a recovery journal. What the reader discovers alongside Nir, one honest chapter at a time, is something he didn't set out to write: a complete framework for rebuilding after everything breaks. The principles weren't planned. They were earned.Written with raw honesty and unexpected humor, this is not a clinical guide or a collection of platitudes. It's the story of a recovering high performer who had to relearn everything, and a powerful guide for anyone rebuilding life after it breaks.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

Most children are told to dream big. Scott Spiezio dreamed to win a World Series and play 10 years in the Majors. Unlike other kids, he held a unique advantage, a father who had done exactly that. With countless hours of training, Scott hit the pivotal home run in game six of the 2002 World Series.Scott had everything he could ever want: a World Series ring, a multimillion dollar contract, a beautiful wife, and two healthy sons. But his immense success, followed by an unexpected injury, led to confusion and depression, opening a door to everything he'd spent years avoiding drugs, and adultery. In his biography, he recounts the baseball brilliance of his earthly father's plan and the redemptive power of His Heavenly Father's one. His comeback baseball moments may be memorialized in the National Baseball Hall of Fame, but his faith, his sobriety, and a second chance to reconcile with the ones he loves is the comeback story he wants to be remembered for. After all, it was the hardest one."Scott's 2002 World Series home run helped us come back from elimination and gave the Angels Organization and our fans a memory of a lifetime, but his story of coming back from his struggle off the field gives us a deeper sense of hope that extends far beyond baseball". - Mike Scioscia, World Series Champion and Former MLB ManagerSpiezio knows what it's like to experience the highest highs imaginable. His unforgettable Game 6 home run helped deliver the Anaheim Angels their first World Series title in 2002, and he won another championship with the St. Louis Cardinals in 2006. Christopher Nolan and Matt Damon's epic triumph The Odyssey resurrects the ancient world that turbocharged Western civilization — democracy, theater, philosophy, architecture, art.If that era had a soundtrack, it would sound uncannily like Robin Batteau's magical, mystical Banned in Sparta: eleven songs mosaic‑ed from the shards of pottery and scraps of parchment left behind by Greece's great lyric poets. These were the original singer‑songwriters — Archilochus, Sappho, Alcaeus — performing with lyres the way Dylan or Taylor Swift perform with guitars today.Batteau built these songs like a paleontologist assembling a T. Rex, filling gaps in the ancient fragments with “musical bones” of his own devising. And to bring them fully to life, he chose voices from our own Golden Age of singer‑songwriting: Eric Andersen (“tremulous, touchingly chamber finale”), Carolyn Hester (who hosted Dylan's first recorded appearance), Livingston Taylor, Kate Taylor, Tom Paxton, rocker Robin Lane, plus Tony‑winning actor James Naughton and his children Greg and Keira, Batteau himself, and newcomer Matt Nakoa. The result is a contemporary folk mosaic that feels both ancient and modern — a soundtrack to the world Homer walked through.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

I'm very guilty of doing a lot of interviews for my podcasts. Although I've slowed it down tremendously, I still carry the image of being a podcast interview whore. There's a voice most of us live with all day. It whispers about the cookies in the break room. It reminds you the ice cream is still in the freezer. It talks about lunch while you're still eating breakfast. That voice has a name now. Food noise. A new class of weight-loss drugs turns the volume down, and people cannot believe how quiet their heads suddenly feel.I felt that same quiet. I did not get it from a drug. I got it from food. The noise is not you. It's your food talking back.Food noise is not weakness. It is not a broken character. It is a symptom.Processed food is engineered to be loud. Sugar, refined flour, oils, salt, additives, all of it designed to make you think about the next bite before you finish this one. Blood sugar spikes, then crashes. Your body, confused and depleted, sends up a flare: get more, get it now. That flare is the noise. It feels like hunger. It is not.Real hunger is calm. It builds slowly. It shows up in your stomach, not your head. When you are truly hungry, an apple sounds good, or a bowl of greens. When it is food noise, only the cookie will do. Your body does not crave a brand. Your dopamine does. What actually happened when I went quietBecome a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

I'm always asking questions. The fun begins when you start researching for answers. Such as… What has gotten into us? Has farting in public places always been frowned upon? Plus…a powerful quote to swim within…there's no real out of control until you look inside my mind. I'm Arroe… I am a daily writer. A silent wolf. I stand on the sidelines and do nothing but watch, listen study then activate. I call it The Daily Mess. A chronological walk through an everyday world. Yes, it's my morning writing. As a receiver of thoughts and ideas, we as people tend to throw it to the side and deal with it later. When a subject arrives, I dig in. It's still keeping a journal! By doing the research the picture becomes clearer. This is the Daily Mess… Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.

In an unprecedented creative milestone, BAG Production Records announces the simultaneous release of eight new albums by acclaimed clarinetist, composer, and improvisational master Ben Goldberg on August 8."For me the number is basically eight," Goldberg notes, "on account of having eight letters in my first name and eight in my last name, and on account of having been born on 8/8."Recorded over the last several years, the "8 x 8" collection embodies Goldberg's evolving musical vocabulary, featuring exploratory cross-generational collaborations: Two duos, three trios, two quartets, and a quintet.A Legacy of Radical Improvised Music8 x 8 reflects decades of musical exploration. Raised in a household steeped in speech-communication research — a background that informs his rhythmically unique, speech-like phrasing — Goldberg honed his technique under clarinet master Rosario Mazzeo and studied with Joe Henderson and Steve Lacy.In the 1980s Goldberg's New Klezmer Trio (with drummer Kenny Wollesen), injected the raw, spatial energy of avant-garde jazz into traditional structures, leading to collaborations with artists including Andrew Hill, Nels Cline, Bobby Bradford, and John Zorn. This musical heritage is fully realized across the "8 x 8" collection, capturing the sheer velocity of his current creative circles.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/arroe-collins-like-it-s-live--4113802/support.
