Buddies - to celebrate a milestone here at the pod, we are extremely lucky to be joined by guest numero uno here on VCP: Matt Sands, co-owner of Gold Pan Records in Hillsboro, IL. But Matt brought two of his best pals to this episode to discuss one of the best things about this Vinyl Community of ours: fellowship. Joined us on this voyage are Sam "The Psych Professor", regular companion on Matt's YouTube channel, and their friend and shop owner of Noble Records in Matthews, North Carolina, Dillon Smith (aka The Silver Button Sniper), fresh off joining the ranks of the 100k Sub Club. We discuss how these guys started their respective journeys, and how YouTube and the Vinyl Community at large helped them meet, become fast friends, and make them all better collectors (and store owners) for it. This was one of our favorite episodes, and a great way to kick off year Two of Vinyl Community Podcasts! On the serious tip, thank you for your support, encouragement, and patronage as this project has taken off and evolved. Each and every comment, like, download, and rating (yes, please rate us) helps fuel us to continue this project. It's no accident that it's called "Vinyl Community" Podcasts for a reason, and you, by listening and joining us for these programs, are most certainly a big part of that community. You can't get rid of me that easily Buddies! I'm back with part two of my conversation with Matt Sands (aka DJ Mellow Yellow), a long time (10 years + contributor to the #vinylcommunity on YouTube, a dedicated collector, and co-owner of Gold Pan Records in Hillsboro, IL. In this part of the conversationyYou'll hear Matt's thoughts on Whatnot as both a seller and a buyer plus I'll hit him with some #lightninground questions covering multiple aspects of the hobby. If you missed part one, please give it a shot in this same podcast feed. Sincere thanks for checking out the pod and look out for shows coming from some excellent channels in the VC. As always, when you get the Chance...just spin it!
Buddies! Welcome to my first contribution to the Vinyl Community Podcasts feed! In part one of the inaugural "Mind of The Record Collector", I talk to a longtime member of the #VC on YouTube, Matt Sands (aka DJ Mellow Yellow). In over 10 years of creating videos on YouTube, he's seen a lot of shifts and changes in the hobby and on YouTube from record collectors. He's also one of handful of VC members who took his love of vinyl and music to the next level by owning + operating his own record store (Gold Pan Records - Hillsboro, IL). As someone who initially learned of and from videos Matt (+ Sam aka The Psych Professor) have shared over the years, this is a conversation I've been eager to put together for some time. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. And remember, when you get the Chance...just spin it! Look for part two later this week!
Peace Radicals Episode 42 - Matt Sands Nations of Sanity - The Nations of Sanity aims to bring about a real revolution with an intentionally simple ethos of basic and objective morality, which we define here as simple sanity. Find out more about Nations of Sanity: http://www.nationsofsanity.com https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCwRTcy7waI3J3eOnMhyY9Gw https://www.facebook.com/NationsOfSanity Voluntary is fine, forced is a crime. We present our case and ask all good people to kindly consider the points made and the proposals put forward and hope that we can motivate you to either join us in our efforts to support this movement or challenge it by scrutinizing any part of it. "It is our assertion that the only way to create a truly free society, with truly equal rights, is to establish the NAP (Non-Aggression Principle) as the law. A law that is universally applied and established as the terms of a 3 part peace agreement. For those unfamiliar with the NAP it is essentially a principle that defines crime by whether or not you are causing harm or loss to another (or at least threatening or attempting to). Many may associate this principle with what is known as Natural Law or Common Law or simply just the basic sense of right and wrong that should apply to all equally. Ultimately, it is what most people would recognize in their hearts as simple sanity. If the NAP was established as the law then we would have a free society, almost by default, as governments would no longer be able to rule people and would basically cease to exist in their current form. In its place, we can still have everything else we associate with government, including law enforcement, because it does not require the power to rule over people to be able to serve and you do not need to violate the NAP to be able to enforce it, which is why this is the only law that could actually be applied 100% equally. Enforcing the NAP would, by definition, only involve self-defense or the defense of others, so does not require anyone to have more or less rights than anyone else. There is much more that the Nations Of Sanity offers, with respect to going into more detail and offering various solutions and answers to questions and issues that may arise. We've even drawn up a 3 part agreement that could establish the NAP as law (The Sanity Agreement/Non Aggression Agreement). But when it comes to what we demand and what we think EVERYONE should unite in demanding, that is basically it. Make the Non-Aggression Principle the standard for law, a law that applies to everyone equally, and we will have, for the first time in recorded history, a truly free and sane society with true equal rights, true justice, and a level of sanity that is actually worthy of the name."

Matt Sands joins us as we discuss continuous improvement and quality and their importance when the oil and gas industry in a downturn. Don’t do the wrong things righter! Quality shouldn’t be something else that costs you money. Quality is getting your processes and procedures on paper and doing what you say you’re going to. This is important anytime, but especially during a downturn when you might be facing a shut down. Having your procedures in places helps to track everything from how much time a paper sat on someone’s desk for approval to waste to rework. If you have a quality management program in place, you can track exactly where your money is spent and where you can cut back or do better. Cushioning the bottom dollar when business is booming helps when a downturn comes. If you don’t have one in place during a downturn, a quality management program will help you scale back exactly where you are able. Yes, it’s money you have to spend up front on a consultant to help you, but it’s money well spent and that you’ll not only make back, but be able to track how you made it back. Continual improvement is strategically names; business should always strive to improve, continuously. A good quality management program helps that improvement along. From the Pulpit - GraceToAnderson Sermons - Grace Baptist Church | Anderson, IN
What is your motivation to serve others? Many are motivated out of the desire for a good feeling. "I feel good when I help others," they say. Some are motivated out of guilt – they feel guilty about something in their life and use kindness as a way to assuage a guilty conscience. But, what should be the Christian's motivation for service? In his message on the ordination Sunday of David Luttrull and Matt Sands, Pastor Josh Crockett spoke on the need to have a biblical motivation for service.
What does it take to make you angry? An unkind word? A traffic jam? A disobedient child? In his message from Matthew 5, Matt Sands, the youth director at Grace, deals with a biblical response to anger.
