This week we're chatting about new movie Misbehaviour, directed by Philippa Lowthorpe and starring three of our favourite actors: Keira Knightley, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Jessie Buckley. This British film is based on the real life events of the 1970 Miss World Contest, where the newly-formed Women's Liberation Movement disrupted proceedings, while Jennifer Hosten, Miss Grenada, was crowned the first black Miss World winner. We were so excited to sit down with director Philippa Lowthorpe and discuss her role bringing this true life story to the big screen. The three of us fangirled about Little Women, talked about the importance of intersectionality on screen, the transformative power of clothing and why women want to see their stories reflected in film. Later, Helena fills us in about her experience finally watching Netflix's Sex Education, and Francesca has some thoughts on musical classic Les Miserables. Enjoy!
This week's episode is about progress and the representation of vulnerability between men. Specifically within the film My Own Private Idaho (1991) and Netflix's Sex Education (2019). Actor George Robinson reveals what it's like to play Isaac, the first disabled character in Netflix's Sex Education. George became tetraplegic just a few years ago when he broke his neck in a school rugby tackle gone-wrong. The question is, did he watch the show - full of teenage sex, angst and mishaps - with his parents? Professional magician Fergus Flanagan first got into tricks when he was 10-years-old - about the same time he realised he was different to everyone else. He'd started to experience intrusive thoughts relating to hitting or kicking disabled people - something he never acted on and has since gone away. But it would be another 10 years before he told anyone about it and it was given a name - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - something he's now created a magic show around. Presented by Kate Monaghan and Simon Minty. A full transcript will be available here soon. Subscribe to Ouch on BBC Sounds or say "Ask the BBC for Ouch" to your smart speaker.

February is LGBT+ History Month and to celebrate we decided to talk about sex education and consent within the community. We discussed what seemed to be highly biological and heteronormative personal experiences with sex education, where sexual experiences where assumed to be penetrative intercourse between a man and a women, with a complete disregard for female pleasure. We also explored the future of a more inclusive form of sex education with the idea of counselling-like one-on-one sessions, much like Jean Milburn's approach in Netflix's Sex Education.

Car crashes, talking hits, and learning life lessons with the songwriter of "Wild Thing", "Angel of the Morning", Chip Taylor and London based artist Belle Mt.. Chip is the creator of timeless hits spanning 5 decades and Belle Mt. shares the origin or his latest release "Origins". Belle Mt. (bell-mont) is songwriter Matt Belmont that just released the video for "Origins" but also it's the first single of 2019 (produced by Grammy award-winning producer Femke Weidema). This London-based artist uses life-altering moments to create a new story and "Origins" is no different. We get into the nuances of the new track and video; pride, a crash, and relationships. We also figure out the faults of keeping scores in life's relationships. Visit www.bellemt.com to check out the video and see tour dates, and follow him @bellemtmusic. Chip Taylor (James Wesley Voight) will probably always be known as the songwriter who wrote "Wild Thing" and "Angel of the Morning." But there's so much more to the man besides 2 songs. Other notable tracks include "He Sits at Your Table" (Willie Nelson), "I Can't Let Go" (Evie Sands, the Hollies, Linda Ronstadt), "The Baby" (the Hollies), "Any Way That You Want Me" (the Troggs, Evie Sands, Melanie, Juice Newton, Lita Ford, Liverpool Five), "Just a Little Bit Harder" (Lorraine Ellison, Janis Joplin), "Sweet Dream Woman" (Waylon Jennings), "A Little Bit Later On Down the Line" (Bobby Bare), "Rock Soldiers" (Ace Frehley), and "Son of a Rotten Gambler" (Emmylou Harris, the Hollies, Anne Murray). A new generation is getting to know Chip by his track on Netflix's Sex Education, "F*** All The Perfect People" as well. Chip, a Songwriter Hall of Fame Inductee, also has a love for country music and even built a healthy career in the 70's in the genre. We talk about all these but we also go into his other passions and careers (A notable gamble and golfer). But more importantly, we get to understand how Chip ticks and we tackle the ups and downs of his career. One would think that your way is paved with a track record like his, but you even learn through his latest record (Whiskey Salesman) the life lessons learned from this vet. Whiskey Salesman is out now under Train Wreck Records and you can follow Chip @chiptaylorofficial
