2024 was one heck of a year for weightlifting. Olivia Reeves won Olympic gold, Karlos Nasar stole our hearts (thanks, Weightlifting House), China won 5 Olympic golds, and the sport doesn't seem to be slowing down.In this episode of the podcast, I was joined by the one and only Seb Ostrowicz, founder of Weightlifting House. Seb and I discuss the past year of weightlifting and anticipate many of the changes within the sport and Weightlifting House in 2025. This spans who we would buy/sell/or hold for 2025, how Weightlifting House will continue to change the landscape of the sport, and so much more.EnjoyFollow Seb and WH:https://www.instagram.com/seb_ostrowicz/https://www.instagram.com/weightlifting_house/Follow me and get coaching:https://www.instagram.com/josh_philwl/Weightlifting House:https://www.weightliftinghouse.com/ code PHILWL for 10% off

What started as a passion project became a full-time career for Seb, and he's traveled to all corners of the globe to bring weightlifting to more people than ever. We talk about how the sport has changed in the past five years, from all-time world records to blockbuster-level organizational corruption, and where weightlifting might be headed next. Along the way, we find some common ground in our love for strength sports and talk about the people who have inspired us most on our journeys.

Here's a prediction: This episode is one of the greats. It's going to circulate. People will start talking. There will be murmurs in the community. The IWF will get wind of its existence. "There are two handsome podcasters talking about what? Abolishing the press out? They've started a hashtag? We need to see this." A few months go by, the Max Out or Black Out Classic has become a worldwide sensation, Seb and @the_squatfather get a call from the IOC with a job offer to run the IWF, they accept, and the rest is history. After the recording stopped, Ryan and Seb had a back and forth compliment battle the likes of which we've never seen. For that reason, we won't bore you with our praises of everything that Seb does for the Weightlifting community. Seb, you're a real one and an OG of the game. The Glenn Pendlay Method is a book recently authored by Seb Ostrowicz (of Weightlifting House fame). Seb spent years recording podcasts, communicating with, and handling programs from Glenn. There aren't many people who have had so much time interacting with Glenn on a personal level. Knowing this, Seb was able to write a fantastic book detailing the life and methods of The People's Coach. In this episode of the podcast, we uncover some of the hidden gems of the book, how concepts can be applied in practice, and much more! Weightlifting
On this episode, we talk with the historian and data nerd of weightlifting - Seb Ostrowicz of Weightlifting House. He believes that the next few weeks of weightlifting will be some of the most exciting ever for the sport - so listen in to hear his predictions.
Jill and Alison are back from a weekend in Boston at the Olympin Collectors' Show! They scored some deals on pins and memorabilia (keep an eye on our Insta and Twitter feeds for pics) and saw some of our favorite Olympic fans from episode 5. It was a great time -- and we got a great interview with a Games Maker that we'll be featuring in a few weeks. The International Weightlifting Federation's world championships starts on Wednesday, September 18, so we thought it was a great time to learn about Olympic weightlifting and what this sport is all about. Joining us to explain it is the Voice of the People, Seb Ostrowicz, host of the Weightlifting House podcast and writer at its accompanying website. Seb talks with us about the two lifts that make up a weightlifting competition: the snatch and the clean-and-jerk. We also talk about: Weight classes, cutting weight and post-weigh-in eating The incredible flexibility and mobility of weightlifters Who to look out for at Tokyo 2020 Check out Weightlifting House! They're on Facebook, Insta and Twitter, and you can find the podcast on your favorite podcast player. If you love weightlifting, definitely check it out because they get some great interviews with top people in the sport. In our Team Olympic Fever Update, we've got news from our team members Sarah Hendrickson and the dulcet tones of Jason Bryant. We've also got news from Tokyo 2020 -- someone's not too happy about changes made to the Team Equestrian events! Also, if you've applied to be part of the Tokyo 2020 Torch Relay, don't hold your breath....there's a ton of applicants. Next week, we'll have more weightlifting fun, but this time from the other side of the stage. Weightlifting House's Dan Kent will tell us what it's like to referee a weightlifting competition (you know how Jill loves officiating chat, so this is going to be a good one!).
