The 2010s were so fire, so lit, and so cringe, we just had to revisit our five-part series looking at the decade. In the 2010s, we had good times, probably, and bad times too, and pop culture was there to get us through it all. The Pop Culture Junkie Podcast is again bringing you the most memorable moments of the years 2010 through 2019 with our series We Love the 2010s. This week, Alex, Hayley, Nicole and Shauna give their hot takes on the years 2016 and 2017.2016 was all about Stranger Things, like Baby Shark and Becky with the Good Hair, Pokémon Go and Girl Ghostbusters, clown sightings and perhaps stangest of all, the Chicago Cubs finally won the World Series. We went to La La Land and Couldn't Stop the Feeling, and one movie tried to make us decide between batman and Superman (and we chose neither). And Finally, it was the year that we all said RIP to Harambe… and an unreal number of beloved celebrities. 2017 brought us te tragic (for bilionaires) Fyre Festival, gender reveal fires, and fidget spinners; Wonder Woman made us cheer on the big screen (finally) while The Handmaid's Tale on the small screen had us panicking; we devoured TikTok, learned Spanish to sing “Despacito', and while TV show revivals were all the rage, the film Get Out was as original as it was terrifying.Soundbite credits for 2016: La La Land | Lionsgate Stranger Things | Netflix “Oklahoma County jailers charged for allegedly torturing inmates with ‘Baby Shark' song” – KFOR Oklahoma News 4 “Samsung makes smart fridge hub of connected home” – CNET News “Prosecutor; No charges against mother in Harambe's death” – WCPO News 9 “Donald Trump wins Presidential election sending shockwaves…” – VOA News Batman vs. Superman | Warner Bros. Alex Galahad Grand, Sir Billiam Field, and Jim the Bright Knight Thompson discuss Atlas Comics from 1955 Knights through 1956, to 1957, when Atlas shrugged. Why was Atlas the rising comic book company star of 1956? What brought Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko and Joe Maneely to work there along with a good chunk of the EC Comics artists? Why were Knights so popular in 1955 and how did the comics code shape this genre? What factors around this year and the next set course to later create Marvel Comics? How did the flood at Charlton push Ditko to work at Atlas? Should we start paying each other in meat balls? Jack Kirby, Steve Ditko, Joe Maneely, Stan Lee, Wally Wood and more! With Christopher Nolan's Batman films Warner Bros. set the gold standard for superhero films. The Dark Knight was a box office hit, a fan favorite, and even won an Academy Award for acting. Yet the year after Batman Begins the other World's Finest superhero, Superman, failed to take flight. So when Dark Knight writer David Goyer pitched a new, bold take on Superman Warner Bros. agreed. Watchmen director Zack Snyder was brought in to direct, and the result was Man of Steel. Its opening weekend broke records, but both critics and fans are sharply divided over the quality of the film. Now Arnie, Stuart, and Jakob bring their Superman retrospective series to a close with their review of Man of Steel. Can Man of Steel leap tall buildings in a single bound, or should it be stopped with a speeding bullet? Listen to find out! {Superman Series} {DC Comics Series} {Comic Book Movie Series} {DC Movie Universe}
