Ghislaine Maxwell ultimate ambition from my research was to be Chief Executive for an NGO given the role by The United Nations to protect marine biology of ALL International Waters. If, Ghislaine Maxwell was successful her TerraMar Project would have had Diplomatic Immunity which would have covered their compete fleet of Ships & Submarines along with Employees. Under the direction of artist and curator Matthew Higgs, White Columns gallery of New York City gave life to its record label ‘The Sound of White Columns’ to publish the organization’s longstanding collaborations with musicians that has included such as Thurston Moore, Kim Gordon, Meredith Monk and many more. He has worked with the theater director Robert Wilson and compose Philip Glass to write and perform massive, influential 20th century stage works including Einstein on the Beach and The Life and Times of Joseph Stalin. They discuss Wilson's three major influences: the dance work of George Balanchine and Merce Cunningham, the first piece of theatre he created with a deaf, mute child, and the poet Christopher Knowles, who once repeated the words "tape recorder" for ten minutes at the end of a performance piece. He talks about creating different kinds of space, repetition, and rigidity of form and process. Other topics include working with trained vs. untrained actors, working with a dramaturg, and the role of interpretation. There is an almost forgotten genre of film-making that emerged in a narrow chapter of the early 1970's. Within this sub-set is a messy blending of creepy occult, ancient aliens and UFO abduction, and many of these were made for TV movies. Something weird emerged that seems quite evocative looking back on it now. The Ancient Astronaut Theory is interwoven into many of these movies. Adding to the overall strangeness is a blurring between occult satanic themes and the UFO abduction lore. (link)

I'm not sure the common theme of this Mix, save for mining the riches of Ubu for (mostly) historical recordings that have both a musicality as well as a conceptual nature. Fluxus and its influence runs throughout this group. The recording of Charlotte Moorman performing Terry Jennings is something I helped uncover when I was given access to Moorman's archives many years ago. Jennings was a brilliant composer, of whom there are very few published recordings. Charlotte is known more for her visual performances with Paik and others but I find this to be straight out beautiful. As a sound artist/composer, these are all artists who have influenced my own work. The Terry Fox cats get stuck in my head, the way pop melodies do for others. Christopher Knowles' few published, frenetic sound pieces do as well. Mieko Shiomi's marbles make her piano sing while Pauline Oliveros' voices do something all together different.
